  1. That really is cool.
  2. But if every person who bought ammunition did the same thing the ATF would announce by the end of the week they are dropping it.
  3. And today I decided to treat myself. Salad with the meat off of 4 Buddy's BBQ ribs and raw mushrooms.
  4. I used a 16" barrel with a pistol length gas system for a very, very long time and it is the best setup as far as reliability goes. Check the port size and if it is not .088" I would drill it to that and use the adjustable gas block to tune the gas signal. With an .088" port you should easily get subsonic ammunition to cycle as well as supersonic but I would meter the supersonic loads to prevent over gassing.   The distance from the gas block to the shoulder that Mike is talking about is 10 sheets of standard paper if you do not have feeler gauges. If you do then the distance the gas block should be from the shoulder is .040".
  5. We use canola oil, vinegar and a packet of Splenda for a pint. I we decide to use something like Ranch or Blue cheese we use 1/2 then add vinegar to extend it. Vinegar will drop the blood sugar a lot.
  6. Down to 183 now. I weighed in at 202 on the 27th of January so ~19 pounds in 19 days. I do have days where I might not loose a pound but then the next day it will be a little over a pound that I loose. And here is what I had yesterday. It is curry chicken (~150g) with mushrooms (72g) and Brussels sprouts (28g) over lettuce (100g). Total carbs 7 grams and about 200 calories before the dressing. And once you get used to a "normal" serving size this is plenty to make you feel full and keep you from getting hungry until the next meal.
  7. Why not just get a Florida permit? Tennessee recognizes Florida permits. Seems like it would be easier. If I am not mistaken it can all be done online. Also, if I remember correctly there have been several people who could not get Tennessee permits who were granted a permit through Florida because Florida doesn't have a residency requirement. http://www.freshfromflorida.com/Divisions-Offices/Licensing/Concealed-Weapon-License/Eligibility-Requirements
  8. +1   Monday I am going to become a thorn in anyone's side who can have an affect on this.
  9. What the ATF doesn't realize is ANY 223/5.56 round will easily pass through the soft body armor worn by most officers. Even an ice pick will easily defeat it. The other part is use in a pistol and they seem to think an AR pistol is as easy to conceal and then employ as a standard handgun which is totally false. I would like to see someone conceal and AR pistol, which weighs 6+ pounds and is 20"+ long, in a way that makes it easy to employ in a hurry. I say it is not possible and most criminals would not risk carrying something that big and obvious. The original law about AP rounds in pistols was meant for the pistols most commonly encountered by LE at the time and not rifles that met the definition of pistol. So I think they are well outside the bounds of the spirit of the law as it was passed. I would like to hear about the statistics regarding the criminals using AR, or 5.45 AK, pistols against LE officers but I bet they are as rare as hens teeth. Standard AR rifles far outnumber AR pistols and crimes involving AR rifles are extremely rare so I would say the odds of an officer being shot with an AR pistol loaded with M855 would be greater than winning the Power Ball.   Also, the idea of a 25 ACP being able to penetrate armor is ludicrous. This alone tells me they are not going with the spirit of the law as passed.
  10. I bet there are a lot more people upset over the Sig brace than will be over an ammunition ban. Seem to recall there was a great uprising when 7N6 was banned, not. Same thing will happen with this, people will just assume it is business as usual and not do a damn thing about it.   People, especially gun owners, do not want to even send an email to protect their rights. I send emails at least once a week, should be more often, which is a lot more often than most gun owners who proclaim to be pissed off at everything going on. Anytime I hear anyone complaining about something I ask what have they done and most give a blank stare. I ask if they have made any phone calls or send emails and I get one of two responses, either "I don't have time for that" or "What good would that do?". To that I say it can change everything if just 10% of the current gun owners called or emailed their representatives weekly.
  11. What bothers me is I wonder if at some point in the future they will determine the steel jackets of cheap combloc ammunition to be AP as well. Then we will really be screwed.   If every person who bought a case would send an email to their representatives as well as the ATF comment email this would get squashed. But now all the gougers are buying up the ammunition and praying it is banned so they can make a buck off of their fellow gun owners. It sickens me to no end to see supposed gun owners doing stuff like this to fellow gun owners.   There will not be a push back. If the Sig brace decision didn't do it nothing will. It will be the usual bitch and complain anonymously on the net by gun owners because they are too scared to put a name with an email. Way too many gun owners are paranoid and probably a bit delusional when it comes to voicing their opinion. A lot of gun owners think if they disagree with the government they will come kick the door in and kill their family. Anyone who thinks that will happen over an email probably should not be around guns.   BTW, this will not affect me in the least. My hand loads will still defeat body armor as well as, probably better than, M855.
  12. You can have a thinner barrel and still install chokes. Here is a dimensional chart I scanned in for determining which choke would be best.
  13. It might be a little more than 700 calories but definitely under 1,000 per day.
  14. And as usual the gun community is going to sit around and bitch about it without even sending a single email or making a single phone call. Just think of how bad it will be is all you can get is the super expensive commercial ammunition.
  15. I like it as well and it just made my short list. It would make a great gun to SBR and suppress.   The only thing I hate, yes HATE, about it is the fact they are still using a buffer tube with the recoil spring in it. This means there is no way to add a folding stock which is something I have been wanting for a very long time, a 9mm carbine with a folding stock. That is why I am hoping that the 9mm AK becomes a reality because you could SBR it and make it a very compact package.   But with a 4" barrel and a suppressor it would still be a small package.
  16. We are eating 5-6 times a day and varying what we eat. I seriously doubt we are in ketosis.   My doctor is a close personal friend and we talk almost every day about this and other things. Initially we were going too fast so he told us to eat a bit more and we did but we are still loosing the added weight we have put on over the years.   Yes I could exercise but at what cost? A 20 minute walk really messes me up for the day. A couple hours at the range puts me in bed for days. Not like I get much time out of bed anyways but I would prefer to get as much time out of bed as I can.   I am very intimate with what my body can and cannot handle and I know the path I am on right now is uncomfortable but not dangerous.
  17. And one more thing. I do not believe people eat until full anymore. I think they eat until they feel sick. The reason is food tastes great, especially the processed ones with extra fat and sugars added. So people, including me, eat and eat until they food is gone or until they are sick. Plenty of times I have ate then had to throw up because I ate way too much.   I will say that cutting substantially back on sugars and eliminating caffeine sucks, I mean REALLY sucks but after 3-4 days I felt great. No more waking up groggy or feeling tired during the day like before. Also, I sleep a lot better than I have in a very long time.   But like I said use the recommended portions for the 3-4 different food items and try to cut as much of processed food and carbs out of the diet. It is not that hard to do once you get the hang of it and honestly I do not feel like I am missing a meal.
  18. The reason for this is my wife recently found out she has diabetes. It runs in her family so we knew it was always a risk. It also runs in my family so it was just the luck of the draw that she got diagnosed first. But it is a wake up call for us. We spent a lifetime eating anything we wanted and often eating to excess. We thought we were eating healthy and we often would eat healthy food but we would eat way too much. So for us it is not about keep sugar levels low which means counting carbs. We take in less than 8 carbs per meal but even without carbs we have great food, it is all about spices.   Ok, for breakfast it is generally two eggs and two pieces of bacon. We drink either carbonated water or caffeine free tea.   For lunch, which is the big meal of the day, we grill about 150g of chicken or 160g of fish and split a serving shrimp. We will add 72g of white mushrooms. This is normally in a curry soup but one could leave out the curry and have a nice chicken soup. We will add some sort of green vegetable to it as well but only a serving size worth. Curry powder supposedly has carbs but one of the ingredients actually cause the blood sugar to drop.   For dinner we have the same amount of chicken and shrimp but mixed in with 75g-100g of lettuce. For dressings we use whatever we want but we ALWAYS use the recommended servings. I always thought eating salad was healthy and it would be except before I would smother it with 1/2 a bottle of dressing.   For snacks we have mackerel or oopsie bread. Oopsie bread is made without any flour and is almost pancake like. My wife also makes jerky for snacks, store bought stuff isn't very good for you.   The biggest thing is use the recommended serving size for everything and limit what you eat to 3-4 items per meal. And the second most important thing is to not each anything substantial for the last 5 hours you are awake. And finally get up an move, even if only to walk to check the mail. I cannot exercise at all other than 15-20 minute walks but that is enough to make a difference. Oh, and cut out sodas or other sweetened drinks. I used to drink a lot of green tea but the problem is it had about 180 calories worth of sugar in each bottle.
  19. And another pound gone this morning.
  20. Way too many carbs in those.
  21. Actually it doesn't cost any more than a "regular" meal.
  22. http://www.gtdist.com/ProductDetail.aspx?PartNumber=GEMTECH-TREK-CO   Hard to beat at this price.
  23. That is what I have lost so far and plan on being in the 150 range by my birthday in June.   Been eating ~700 calories a day and nearly zero carbs as well as limiting fats substantially. I can't exercise so it is diet only for me and seems to be working. I have also cut out all caffeine and any sort of processed foods. I cook fresh food for every meal.   After years of 230+ cholesterol and adding a few pounds a month it was time.
  24. EAA are nice guns as well patterned like the CZ75 but a lot cheaper. Every EAA I have owned has been 100% reliable and very accurate.
  25. Never, ever try to hold something by hand while trying to mill something out. And ALWAYS have the speed up very, very high.   With that being said it will cost you more to fix that one than it will cost to buy a new 80% lower.
