I prefer small primer 45 ACP. Not because it is more accurate but because I use the same primers for it as I do for my 9mm, 223 and 300 Blackout. Makes keeping track of supplies easier.

I have very high hopes for this but I suspect I will be let down in the end. I don't even care if you still have to register them I would love to be able to take one of my guns and turn it into a machine gun. In a perfect world, but it will never happen, we would see the NFA removed entirely and anyone can buy anything so long as they are allowed to own firearms.   Silencers, short barrels, destructive devices and any other weapons should not even be on any registry. They are no more deadly than a regular firearm. Silencers are not silent and unless you are using subsonic ammunition the gun shot isn't even quiet. When I shoot my silencer with supersonic ammunition most people are surprised at how loud it actually is.   I know there is a big push to remove silencers from the NFA and if that happens imagine the technological breakthroughs that will happen almost overnight. I know I will probably go broke buying the materials needed to actually try some of my ideas. But if you look at every other country where they are legal the cost of the average silencer is about 1/10 our cost and that is because of all the licensing and fees needed to make a silencer here.

The Saker 7.62 with a 5.56 end cap is the best 5.56 suppressor on the market from the numbers I have seen. Depending on the gun I have seen numbers that are in 22lr territory. Numbers in the low 120's are common and that is amazing for a 5.56 silencer. I wish my can were that quiet. You can also use it on everything that is .308 caliber and smaller, even the magnum calibers. Also consider this, you are more likely to sell your home than the silencer you buy so you may as well buy the best and not squabble over a small amount.

  Chalkboard paint is a million times better. Whatever they put in it to make it impervious to chalk writing on it works extremely well for guns. But it must be the Krylon version and not the Rustoleum. The Rustoleum doesn't seem to go on as well and has a flat black look to it while the Krylon version is more like you would find on an AR lower, not shiny but not flat either.   And if you can bake it in an oven it gets even better. I normally paint my guns with a few coats over the course of an hour. I let it dry over night then I put the oven on 300 degrees. Once it is up to temperature I turn it off then I load the gun into the oven and forget about it for a couple of hours. Just make sure you remove anything that might get damaged by the heat, like plastics, wood or tritium sights.   I even took an old metal "safe" that I bought from Walmart years ago and turned it into a baking cabinet. I drilled a hole in the side at the bottom then I stuck the nozzle of a heat gun in the hole. I turn the heat gun on high and let it set. The temperature gets over 150 degrees and is plenty warm to cure the chalkboard paint. I might get creative and figure out a way to use a torch, or something else, to increase the heat inside the cabinet. But as it stands after a couple of hours at 150 degrees the chalkboard paint is well cured.

Depends on the rounds but most are still gaining at 16". The vast majority of rounds are still making significant gains between 10" and 16".   If I am going to go with something less than 16" it will be way less than 16" so everything I shoot will be subsonic.   http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/9luger.html

Find some Krylon, not Rustoleum, chalkboard paint. That stuff is a lot more durable than regular Krylon. Been using it on guns for years and have always been impressed.

Buy a SilencerCo Saker 7.62 and then buy the 5.56 end cap for it. The 7.62 Saker with the 5.56 end cap is quieter than the 5.56 Saker. That setup is actually pretty amazing. I can honestly say if I ever buy a silencer it will be this one.

At least your number change is for a good reason. The change for Knoxville was because some Vols fan really wanted the area code to spell V-O-L.

With a 9mm you have to go to the extremes. Either it needs to have a 4" barrel or a 16" barrel, anything in between is senseless. 4" barrel will keep most ammunition subsonic while 16" barrel will deliver 357 magnum performance but anywhere in the middle and you get neither.   If it were me, and I have spent many a night thinking about the 1/4C10 lowers, I would get a 4" barrel with a rail that will fit over the 9mm suppressor that this thing begs for.   I will say from the pictures that the lowers are designed to match up with billet uppers. I cannot remember which billet but I think it says on their website. Matter of fact I would just get the bolt from them, you cannot buy and have machined cheaper.   The only, and I mean ONLY, reason I do not have one yet is this year there will be a US manufactured 9mm AK. I am saving every red cent I can to make sure I can get one when they become available. And when I do get one it will have a suppressor.

There is no need to shoot without hearing protection to see what it would be like in a self defense situation. The reason is when adrenaline starts pumping your hearing tends to go long before a shot is ever fired. It is part of a self defense mechanism your body does to protect itself. That is also why you get tunnel vision. And if you do have to shoot to save your life you will NEVER hear the shot and likely would not be able to tell how many shots were fired. Adrenaline does a lit of weird things and it gets worse the more adrenaline.   When I have adrenaline dumps, I mean SERIOUS, dumps it seems like my senses are gone. Now once the situation is over the first thing that hits is the queasy feeling, nausea, stomach cramps and the feeling like I am about to crap my pants. After that I just want to lay down and go to sleep because I am tired like I have been awake for 3 days straight. I have been through it enough to know what to expect but it still happens every time I have an adrenaline dump.

I would love to have a diesel Toyota Hilux like you see everywhere in Afghanistan. We used, and beat the hell out of, one and it never broke. The gods must have come together when they designed the Hilux.

Also, be aware the insurance will probably not just give you a check and let you choose to fix it or not unless you own the vehicle without any lienholders.   We had some damage that occurred to our vehicle. We told the insurance company that we could live with the damage and would just like to keep the repair costs for ourselves. They said that we did not own the vehicle and that any money given would go to the lien holder. The bank would get the money to live with the damaged vehicle and we would be left with the damaged vehicle if we chose not to repair it.

With the recent software changes the normal number in red no longer shows up when people are in chat. Trust me when I say that every night there are people in chat. Walmart sells REAL Savage bolt guns, not the Edge or Axis, for under $400 with a scope and Accutrigger. And they tend to be the most accurate rifles out of the box anymore, especially for the price. If you have some time check your local Walmart because they routinely put them on sale and you can get them for under $350.   Savages are like the 10/22 of the centerfire world. You can swap calibers at home without the need of a gunsmith. Used barrels can be bought for $50-$100 depending on what it is and new barrels can be had for $150-$200 for factory and $300 for drop in match barrels. To do a caliber swap on a Remington it will cost you $300+ in labor alone not including the barrel. Swapping barrels on a Savage takes 20 minutes while a Remington requires weeks at a smith.

ATF did rule against using machines that are used as part of a business. The on post craft shop is probably not considered a business. I would still try to buy a drill press it is a lot cheaper than replacing the lower you are going to ruin by half assing it.

You can buy a cheap drill press at Harbor Freight for like $50. Or check pawn shops I bought mine for like $20 at a pawn shop.
