  1. It is likely just crud. I would shoot a BUNCH of WD-40 form the firing pin hole. Then use a compressor, not air in a can, to blow the crud out. Repeat until the WD-40 runs clean.
  2. When I said my passport I meant my civilian passport. The other passport I travelled on was stamped with almost every place I had been.
  3. As well as the best fried green tomatoes I have ever had. Pretty much anything on the menu is southern perfection.
  4. I merged my thread from this morning with this one from a few days ago.
  5. I charge the case then load the bullet before grabbing the next case to charge. It is no slower than charging a bunch of cases at one and keeps interruptions from blowing a gun up.   I do a visual inspection of every charge to make sure it HAS powder versus and over charge. Also, something to be aware of some powders make it very difficult to notice a double charge.
  6. I wonder if M855 is going to go the way of 22lr and become hard to find as well as expensive? Now that the dealer and distributors see what people ARE willing to pay they will increase the price accordingly.
  7. I have pushed powder coated bullets to 3,200 fps without any issues.
  8. BREAKING NEWS IN TENNESSEE!!!   On Tuesday March 10th the Tennessee Senate Judiciary Committee passed the NFAFA's Defense to Prosecution reform bill. SB0181 sponsored by Senator Mike Bell passed by a vote of 7 - 2. Now the bill moves to the Senate floor for their consideration. It's TIME to call your senator and politely request that they support SB0181 when it comes to the floor for a vote. This could happen any day now so if you live, work, or travel in Tennessee call and ema...il them now! You can find your senator here: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/senate/members/   The text of the actual bill is here: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/109/Bill/SB0181.pdf   Reform of Defense to Prosecution laws is important because it makes NFA items 100% legal in the state where we pass it. 9. Something else that is very interesting is how most politicians become extremely wealthy within the first term even though they only make $200K a year. I realize most are rich before they get into office but they get a lot richer because of all the back room dealings going on.
  10. The grip safety does not prevent the hammer from falling. Only the thumb safety can prevent the hammer from falling.   Sorry guys, heavily medicated earlier.
  11. A thumb grip safety on a 1911 does not prevent the hammer from falling it only prevents the trigger from being pulled. The only way to ensure the hammer will not fall is with a properly fitted, and engaged, thumb safety.
  12. Call them and see what they say. .125" is big, even for a carbine gas, to start with. I have had carbine length guns run with .093. Is it acting like not enough gas? Not ejecting and the case 1/2 in the chamber.
  13. Make sure you pick a trust name that is reasonably short because the ENTIRE trust name must be engraved without any abbreviations. What must be engraved is the trust name, city and state. Example: The Smith Trust Knoxville, TN Even though you did not make the title 1 firearm you ARE the manufacturer of the SBR so, as the manufacturer, your information must also be engraved on the lower. If you want I can PM you my number and I can explain. BTW, John Wells did my trust and from the time I paid I had the trust in hand within 30 minutes. I had it notarized the next day and filed a few days later. John Well also quickly answered about a dozen questions I had.

  15. Did you buy the barrel new? Because my shorter Rainier Arms barrel had a much smaller port.   And .125" does not guarantee and over gas issue and even over gassed it rarely causes problems in 300 Blackout.
  16. Now I will say that they do hire security for places in Africa. I was looking at doing security for some sort of African oil company at one point but it seemed a bit to sketchy for me. I also met a guy who does a religious mission in Africa who was back in the states picking up some supplies and he said they were ALWAYS armed. Heck, the guy might even have a gun license for the country he works in but I seriously doubt it is an "international" license. And anyone who talks about those things is generally a braggart with 90% of what he says being embellishments.   As far as stamped passports mine is not stamped for any of the places I went. I traveled on a different passport but kept my civilian with me in case something happened and I had to get out of country as a civilian.   I would never step foot in Africa for several reasons. I just had a really good friend spend 6 months in an Africa jail. He was going to be partners in a resort. He hired a "handler", which he was told was required for licensing, to get all his property in country. He had jet skis for the resort, personal stuff as well as a few weapons that he was told he could bring. When the container hit the shores he went to get it and he was arrested for trying to import items without proper paperwork. And guess what? His handler fell off the face of the earth with the $30K my friend gave her to make sure everything went smoothly. In the end he was able to buy himself out of prison but not until he had been there for like 6 months. That friend and I had been through a lot of stuff together.   I do regret the one time I had a chance to go to Liberia and did not go. I would never step foot anywhere in west Africa now no matter how much they paid me.
  17. Loved it. Unfortunately my wife has seen Bambi one too many times to let venison in the house.
  18. Honestly, despite what the thread title says, I would not stomp anyone over words unless those words are a threat. It just really pissed me off having someone acknowledge my disability in such a disgusting way.
  19. That likely includes registering newly made items as well as their transfer from manufacturers to dealers then to individuals. So a single item would be "processed" three, or more, times. And LE needs to go through the transfer process as well.   Individual officers need to go through the NFA process just like a normal person unless it is on department letterhead and if that is the case the officer cannot keep it if he leaves the department. I know of a lot of officers who think they can make their person guns SBRs or machine guns because they are LE and get to keep it like that after they leave or transfer to another department. I warn them doing so is in violation of federal law but they think they are exempt because they are LE. I know the Glock stocks are a really hot ticket for LE but as we know they are against the law unless the Glock is registered as an SBR.
  20.   Funny thing is that is how I clear a path at the gun show. I am on crutches and when things start moving a bit slow I tell my wife my polio is acting up. People look around to see some guy, me, on crutches and no doubt want to get as far away from me as possible.
  21. Yeah, looks great.   If you would PM me your address. I might have a trigger kit I can send you.   Anything to help a kid get outside and into the shooting sports. And props to you for getting your son involved in guns, way too many parents are afraid to introduce their kids to guns.
  22. So my wife and I were visiting my sister, her husband and our niece. We cherish any time we visit them because she is the one who lost her daughter a few years back. The visit went great and during the conversation meats came up. My sister mentioned a local Ingles had bison so we decided to go there to pick some up because it is supposedly better than anything else you can buy at the store, especially farm raised beef.   So we head to nearest Ingles and after I was there a few minutes an older man, probably in his 60's, gave me an angry look then said something. When I didn't respond he started walking towards me. And as he got closer he said "Hey cripple". I said excuse me and at that point I started to get a little upset but gave him the benefit of doubt because he might think he was being funny even though it isn't much of a joke. Then he got really close and said loudly "Are you really a cripple?" to which I answer "No, I walk around on crutches because I like it". Then I started to walk away before I got really upset and things went sideways and as I was walking away he said "Hey cripple, how did you get crippled?" to which I said, under my breath, a helicopter crash. I continued to walk away but he continued saying other "cripple" stuff. Every time he said something about it I got more and more upset because it was really starting to rub me the wrong way. My wife walked up to me and asked what was wrong, because she could see it on my face, and I told her what the guy said. I also told her if he comes up in my face again talking about cripple this and cripple that I was going to whip his ass. She got upset but she also said he obviously has a problem if he is saying things like that and to let it go.   This is the first time I have had someone call me that out loud and it really got under my skin. And had I to do over again I would have let loose with a tirade that would have made a sailor blush.   So now I sit here still a bit upset over it.
  23.   Where are you getting your numbers?   There is no way they are approving 2,000 stamps a week. And that is assuming every stamp is $200 and not counting the $5 transfers.
  24. But it is another step to confuse, and scare, the masses like everything else the have been doing lately. It was not a mistake, it is proof they were going to ban it no matter what kind of responses they got during the comment period. Before it is all over is and done with the administration will support the ATF's decision to ban it because it is yet another step in limiting firearms. And all we will hear from now on is that it is banned even if it isn't. Already had people on another board tell me it is illegal to own and I will go to jail for possessing it.
  25. In this day and age an NFA background check should not be instant. The background for NFA transfers is no more in depth than a standard check. It isn't like they are doing a credit check or even local checks, just a criminal history check at the federal level to make sure you are not a felon. The reason it takes so long is because there is a line, not because the checks take so much longer. Or at a minimum make a frequent flyer program for those who transfer more than once a year. Or for trusts make it instant because you cannot do a background on an entity like a trust or business. And as far as the $200 stamp cost for any NFA it is discriminating against those with a reduced incomes. Anyone, regardless of their financial status, should be able to own the best weapon to protect themselves without the additional costs associated with anything NFA. And by limiting availability they have increased the cost of machine guns to a point only the super rich can afford them, again denying the average person the ability to use a machine gun for self defense if they feel that is the best weapon to use.
