We are getting close to having this thread "censored". If we are going to start attacking I will lock and hide this thread so quick everyone here will think they have Alzheimers because they swear there was a thread they can no longer find. Keep it civil, first, last and only warning. I will not allow TGO to fall back into the depths of negativity. -

It does make one wonder where all the outraged Muslims were the night of the event. Perhaps word got out before hand and those that would normally protest stayed home to avoid being in the middle of a shoot out. I just find it hard to believe not a single person protested the event. ISIS/ISIL has claimed responsibility. -

Where did you talk to him at? If it was at HIS place of employment I would raise the biggest stink I could because had you used that word they would have. And if at a place of employment let us know so we can avoid it. I would have a hard time not going ballistic. I am a successful white guy that is tired of people implying I should be guilty for enjoying the hard earned fruits of my labor. And just because I don't want to give more it does not mean I am a racist. Anyone can be as successful as me, probably more so, if they work at it. Kind of hard to be successful at anything if you are a perpetual victim that refuses to work while holding a hand out expecting me to give them my money. -
A really cool training aid and it's super cheap

I wonder if you can combine it with a video projector to make a cheap FATS simulator to run scenarios. -

So I was doing my normal morning surfing the internet and came across this. http://www.lasrapp.com/ You can buy here: http://lasrapp.com/store/ Basically it is a laser training system that works with ALL other laser firearms trainers out there. They also sell their own inserts as well as complete training guns. Nothing really new or novel about that but what is novel is you can use your existing computer and your existing webcam and only pay for the software. Best part is you can use ANY target you want and it will record hits and shot times. And the best part is it is CHEAP. The software is $120 and the laser chamber inserts are about the same. The AR insert allows multiple shots without resetting the trigger like most other systems on the market. Amazing technology, especially for the price. And here is a bunch of videos about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQ2BynuvF6I Here are some of the more informative videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdZV_uhxT6U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKMHzKaSaYw

You really need to talk to her about it. Try to impress upon her that she is the only person that can protect the kids from an attacker while away from you. I hate to fear monger anyone but it is better to fear monger than to let them become a victim. Also, make sure her holster is comfortable. Most people who only carry occasionally do so because it is uncomfortable. If all she has is a plastic holster that is probably why. One thing that might get her carry more often is to have a custom holster made for her. Perhaps in her favorite color or with her favorite design or even some bling. Nothing wrong with a blinged out holster that she would show off to her girlfriends. Then when you figure out what she would like give it to her on a special occasion. Just like a nice necklace or ring she will wear it if there is a sentimental connection. Women do not like black or plain things, they want things that make them feel prettier and if a holster does that she will wear it all the time. And if she gets it from you, as opposed to buying it in a store, she will have no choice but to carry it to prove to her girlfriends what a great guy you are.

But the examples you give have to deal with things that people do not have a choice in and not related to free speech. Speech is a choice what race they are, if they are disabled or what country they are born into is not. But even with that being said I believe anyone should be able to refuse to do business with anyone for any reason. I am disabled and if someone doesn't not want to do business with me because I am disabled that should be their choice and besides why would I want to support them anyways. As far as free speech and protected classes I can guarantee that if anyone, who is part of a protected class, is on my property I can legally limit what they say without the fear of being arrested. Just because they are a protected class it does not give them any more rights on my property than someone who is not a protected class. Just because someone is a protected class does not mean they should be treated differently and definitely not any better than those that are not. Likewise those who are not a protected class should not be treated any worse. In my eyes everyone is the same, and should be treated the same, regardless the color of their skin, their religion, their disability or any other arbitrary class used to separate them from their fellow man. I am sick and tired of people demanding they be treated better when they are no different and should be treated like anyone else. We were all created equal weren't we? So why in the hell are people looking for reasons to not be equal. -
Enjoy the safest and most reliable pistol on the planet. Not many handguns can handle rounds loaded to 4x or 5x max pressures like a High Point.

Freedom of speech only guarantees that the government will not infringe upon your right. Non government entities can, and do, limit people's speech all the time and it is perfectly legal. Any private entity CAN legally dictate what you can, and cannot, say on their property. I can guarantee that the only reason anyone has a right to free speech on my property is because I let them have that right and because I am NOT a government entity they can either abide by MY rules or leave my property. The right of an individual does not outweigh the right of the property owner, period. And as much as we hate it liberals CAN dictate what they will, and will not, allow on their property. We have no right to free speech or the right to keep and bear arms on THEIR property unless they allow us to have that right. And likewise they are not allowed to say what they want on our property. Those putting on the show have NOT had their 1st amendment rights infringed. Even if those jihadists came in and forcibly made everyone shut up it was still not a violation of their 1st amendment rights, it takes a government agency to violate someone's 1st amendment rights and not some civilian with a gun. What the jihadists did do was violate law which is what is used for interactions between to private parties. And yes there are consequences for everyone's speech, both good and bad, and there should be. One must weigh the consequences to determine if the reward outweighs the risks. For most people the risks are far too great to speak their mind. Everyone weighs those decisions every day and just because someone may have a right to say something does not mean they will not suffer the consequences for what they chose to say. If I were standing in front of a bunch of jihadists I can guarantee I will not say something that might result in my injury or death even though I am in the right and they are in the wrong. Just because someone has the right to say something does not mean they are exempt from the consequences and if those consequences break the law then they will have to deal with their own set of consequences for their actions. I can guarantee there is not a single person on this board who speaks their mind 100% of the time without weighing the consequences. -

I would like to get an idea of who all is from the Knoxville area. Maybe we all can get together to shoot, have lunch or who knows. It has been several years since the east side of the state has had a shoot, we are definitely way over due.

You get a milled gun? I pick up, hopefully, tomorrow a M70 AB2 underfolder. I have never owned, used or shot an underfolder so I am excited.

And crappy ones should just disappear. I have two neighbors that are the worst people I have ever met. One neighbor is my father and mother. I would not piss on either if they were on fire because of everything they have done to my son, my wife and me. They are miserable people who are jealous of anyone who they think is doing better than them. And when they become jealous they do what they can to grief those they are jealous of. I have seen my father call various government agencies to tell lies about neighbors in an effort to get them in trouble. He is an abusive drunk and my mother is the perpetual victim who tells lies constantly to try to garner sympathy. Problem is the lies she tells often affects those she tells lies about. Both have stolen from my wife and I as well as tell anyone who will listen that we attack them despite the fact we have not had any contact with them in over 5 years. The other is a drunken, mouth breathing, knuckle dragging inbred fuck stick who's parents were obviously very closely related. He was the one who came on my property and started cussing with kids present then cussed at my wife when she told him to leave. He said we should not be shooting and said he was going to call the cops to tell them I was shooting illegal machine guns. Since then he visits his property and shoots guns thinking it will bother me. He tells neighbors that I tried to kill him and that the bullet barely missed his head. He also told the neighbors I was shooting at the neighborhood kids as they walked home from the bus. He also sits at the end of our drive honks his horn and squeals his tires because we put a gate up so he can't drive onto our property.

Plenty of 1x scopes out there that are also magnified. Problem is finding one with the same eye relief as a typical 1x only scope. An option that I ran for a very long time is to mount a micro red dot to the scope tube of the magnified optic. You can get a picatinny mount that clamps to the scope tube for under $10 now. Then buy the red dot and mount it where you want it on the tube. I tried on top and at a 45 degree angle and prefer on top. It is also possible to get a 45 degree mount for the red dot that mounts to the top rail of the weapon. I only know of one optic that is a 1x with the proper eye relief and is magnified and it is an Elcan Spectre. You might get lucky and find one for under $2k.

Any of you sold a house to a person with a VA loan?
Dolomite_supafly replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
Stress free, or at least less stress, is worth a lot. Unless the difference is substantial I would wait on the investment company because it will likely be an easier transaction. I know that when we were refinancing we could have used the VA system but chose not to because it was easier, cheaper and quicker than dealing with the VA. I could not imagine the BS a seller would have to go through. -
First time I have heard this as well. BTW, where on his website did you read that? Link?

Do I need a threaded 7.62x39 bolt action Savage
Dolomite_supafly replied to graycrait's topic in Long Guns
If you look at the bolt face you will see what I was talking about when I said open up a 223 bolt. That barrel shot VERY well for me with quality bullets. I would use a bullet puller and pull the factory bullets then seat a better quality bullet. -
Anyone regretted not using headspace gauges on a new build?
Dolomite_supafly replied to sonusfaber's topic in Long Guns
+1 I would not worry about it unless you have reason to believe there is an issue. The issue I am seeing most is the chambers are not being reamed deep enough and rounds are not chambering. Btw, tight headspace is never an issue if the rounds will eject. Loose headspace is what can be dangerous. But in most cases if the headspace is loose enough to be an issue the firing pin will not ignite the round, especially in an AR. -
I bought a brand new Smith and immediately I had issues. Figuring it was a break in issue I struggled through 500 rounds get 2-3 malfunctions per magazine. I contacted Smith and they said to do a fluff and buff to the feed ramp, breech face and extractor. I did and called them back within a few days with the same issue. I was told it could take up to 1,500 rounds before everything settled down. 1,500 rounds later I was still having issues and they said to send it in. I asked for a label because it was a warranty issue and they said they would not because the gun was used now. They said I would have to pay to send it in and it would count as one of the three lifetime services but I would have to pay for any repairs. I thought about it and sold it for 1/3 of what I paid for it. I told the buyer about the issues and he still wanted it. That was 15 years ago and until I bought my Shield a few months ago I had not bought another Smith. And honestly I am conflicted because I swore 15 years ago I would never own another.

Make sure to clean the hell out of it after shooting. Depending on ammunition the crud left behind can be very corrosive.

A local shop has some RIA 9mm Tacticsl models for $399 that I am really digging. They have 5", 4.25" and "compact" models.

Top can be from pretty much any year while bottom is late production. You want the top release becuase there is not a lot of support for the bottom release. Also, the bottom release tends to be the Accustock which uses a funky recoil lug that is not supported too much either. And if you end up with an Accustock gun NEVER remove it from the stock. They do some sort of witch doctor voodoo to make the shoot great but once you loosen the bolts the accuracy goes to hell unless you are a voodoo witch doctor. One of the best ways to tell the modern version is they have a cocking indicator in the back of the bolt. The BEST action to use to hild off of is the Stevens 200. It does not have the fluff and buff of the other versions so it is "as machined" and tends to be a lot better mechanically even if they are not visually as good. The Stevens 200 is identical to any Savage 10/110 and take any Savage part.
