Might be something that would make it legal in ban states. Call me crazy but I kind of like how it looks.

PSA Enhanced Polished AR 15 Trigger

I would be interested in how it compares to an untreated FCG. -
The difference is .025 between the stock and channel which is SMALL.

I will say that I was in contact with Reid today and he is very excited about this. And honestly I think I would prefer Reid over the place he left.

Reid is a great guy and the training should be top notch. BTW, he worked for Tactical Response but to create his own training company. I would not try to compare VR to TR because they are different companies run by different people. Valor Ridge is located less than an hour away from Knoxville making it a lot easier for people in the eastern part of the state to get the training they want or need.

1St NFA and trust

And I can give you my number and we can go through it step by step over the phone if you like. -
I will say that the ATF does consider Barnes solid copper bullets to be armor piercing but they are no more illegal to use than any other bullet.

1St NFA and trust
Dolomite_supafly replied to rugerla1's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
It is always best to contact the attorney directly for pricing. They can, and often do, provide individual pricing for members of TGO. Regardless of who you choose you will be better off choosing a lawyer familiar in NFA as well one able to practice in Tennessee. -
I just hope any would be thief would also be tempted to steal my NFA items. That way there will be additional federal, hopefully, charges as well as additional resources applied towards finding, arresting, charging and convicting those responsible.

Where can I get some decent holster leather?
Dolomite_supafly replied to jgradyc's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
The leather I use is not much thicker than kydex. I mold the leather, front and back, with a curvature to fit around the body. I let the two halves dry separately for 2-3 days. Then I trim off the excess leather. Then I spray adhesive on both sides of the leather then vacuum it again. I leave it vacuum sealed overnight to ensure a tight bond between the two pieces. Then I mark, punch and hand sew the two halves together. And finally I seal the leather completely and in five years of constant wear the leather is still stiff. Everyone has there own way of doing things. No one way is the right or wrong way. -
It is a perishable skill. One must train constantly to maintain, or improve, your skill.

Finally bought an armorer's tool
Dolomite_supafly replied to rugerla1's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
It is just an adjustable wrench with like a 1.5" opening. I drilled and tapped a hole on the top jaw and bottom jaw about a 3/8" from the tip. Then I installed the screws. I will try to get a picture in a day or two. -
My M85 is done but I just bought a DDI AK so I am exploring options. It is the nicest AK I have ever seen and it is probably a lifetime gun. The only complaint was the gas tube was super tight and took a few strokes with a file to make it easier. All parts match and look brand new. The muzzle is threaded correctly and is not loose like Romanian guns. Again the DDI impressed me more than any other AK I have ever held.

Where can I get some decent holster leather?

A couple of tips. I try to use extremely lightweight leather. Then I wash it using hot water and Dawn soap. I will do the wash, rinse, repeat cycle 2-3 times. What this does is make the leather very Kydex like. It sounds and is as stiff as Kydex. I also use a vacuum sealer for food to mold my leather. Just make sure to vacuum seal the gun first so you don't end up with a bunch of moisture in the gun. -
Memorial Day sales for lasers
Dolomite_supafly replied to jgradyc's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
You cannot see red during the day, at least none of the lasers I have ever seen or used. Now green can easily be seen during the day but how far depends on the strength of the laser itself. What is really cool is at night you can easily point out stars using the green laser. -
I am really liking the looks of the Manticore Alpha. It is extremely light and would go a long way towards getting the AK more maneuverable.

I lost a very good friend a year after my accident. Had I not been in my accident I would not be here because I would have been with him. When I first met him we did not get along. I got sucked into some very negative drama and I gave him a hard time every chance I could. I was probably the biggest thorn he has ever had in his side and he gave back as much as I gave. I would always have his back but he was the one person that I could honestly say I hated. Because of how I acted towards him we never really got to know each other and he probably assumed I was just some POS. Step forward a few years and we were together again but under a different company but this time he was in a position to make my life a living hell and he did. He changed my call sign to a very disrespectful name. It was so bad that the client made him change it because it made them cringe every time they heard my call sign over the radio. Well after a few weeks I sat down with Craig and we had a heart to heart, something we had never done before because of the wall that someone else put up between us. Well after a few more weeks we both realized that what we had believed for so long was untrue. And then we began talking more and eventually became very good friends. We talked all the time when working and when home. He was actually planning on moving to Tennessee because he loved the area so much and I welcomed it because we were such close friends. In 2008 I was in my helicopter accident and that ended my trips. My friend also quit doing it but he started his own company to help the people of Afghanistan. His company was installing water systems and repairing roads. We talked regularly about his company and how well it was going. Then starting in May of 2009 I wasn't able to get a hold of him. I thought it was just a matter of him being gone all the time. I had left dozens of emails as well as just as many messages on his phone. Then, in casual conversation, with a mutual friend I found out my friend had been killed in an ambush in the same town we had originally met. It was the hardest week of my life and honestly I do not remember anything from that week. And because I was already in a dark place in my life because of the accident I got really down and stayed there for a long time. It has gotten easier over the years but every Memorial Day he is the one person I wish was still around. This is what Memorial Day is to me, a time to remember those we wish were still with us.

I wonder if that is me you have seen? I routinely shot at clays at the 100 yard berm using pistols. I haven't done it in a couple of years but I would do it all the time. I would use my Taurus 24/7 OSS DS and my Metro Arms 1911. And I would also use my Contender pistol in various calibers but that makes it way too easy. Had a guy tell me I couldn't hit a clay pigeon with my 1911 at 100 yards while at Norris. I got lucky and busted one on my first shot but also got a couple more before running empty. I have a couple of Ruger pistols, 22/45 and SR-22, that I shoot at 100 yards all the time. They make it pretty easy to bust clays. The most fun I had in a long time was when I set up a 55 gallon drum lid at 200 yards and shot it with 22's. Something fun about shooting then hearing the gong a second or more later. I LOVE shooting long range 22's. I would go to a range and shoot at steel out to 350 yards with subsonic ammunition. That is TOUGH but can be done once you get the wind and elevation dialed in.

Finally bought an armorer's tool
Dolomite_supafly replied to rugerla1's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Looks like a great wrench. The only issue I have ever seen is the barrel nut pins breaking off. That was not specifically with the tool you ordered but the multi tools in general. I am sure those that broke off were muscled a lot more than needed. Use the contoured part for milspec barrel nuts if at all possible. If I need to tighten a barrel nut using pins I use a tool I made. I drilled and tapped the jaws of a large adjustable wrench for machine screws. Then I installed hardened screws. The adjustable wrench allows me to use it on pretty much any barrel nut out there. I also use a separate castle nut wrench for the stock too. But having the right tool makes a world of difference in how easily a gun goes together. -
From experience, make sure the sights are straight before filing.

So I have been going to the stables with my wife for a while now. One of her friends, who is extremely liberal, has a son that normally sits around playing games on his tablet or wanders off on his own to do who knows what. He is a quiet little kid that is really timid but he is well mannered, polite and extremely smart. Well the last few visits to the stable that kid and I have become friends. I have been showing him some different things as well as watching him build dams in a small creek. Then a few visits ago I took him a slingshot but I wasn't sure he would be allowed to have it because of his liberal parents but his mother said it was ok so I let him have it. We spent an hour or two knocking plastic bottles over with it as well as shooting into some water and mud. He got pretty good with the slingshot but before he left that day he said it would be easier with his BB gun. I thought it was odd because his parents are extremely liberal but I guess anything is possible. Well yesterday I was at the stables again and the boy showed up with his "BB gun". I would have never imagined he would have had it in a million years but there he stood with a Knights Armament PDW, Berretta pistol and an HK MP7. He had some cheap scope wired to it, it just flopped around and there is no way it would ever work. I thought to myself how can you expect him to shoot this thing. So I took the scope off and showed him how to use iron sights. I promised him a real scope, that actually works, the next time we meet. And while we were sitting there a few more kids showed up with a BUNCH of plastic guns in their arms. So what I did was spend a couple of hours working with all those kids. And despite some odd looks from parents and other riders I was determined to teach these kids something. So I spent the next couple of hours showing some 10 year olds how to do a combat patrol, how to setup an ambush and the most fun was teaching them how to enter and clear a room. I took my long sleeve shirt and used a couple of brooms tied together to make a target for them to shoot at. And in the end I had them clearing rooms and doing it safely with their airsoft guns loaded and ready. It was fun and honestly they did better than most of the Afghans I have tried to teach. Before it is all over I will try to teach the son of my wife's liberal friend how to clear, disassemble/reassemble and perform a function check on an AK-47. If an Afghan can do it I am sure this smart kid will be able to learn it easily. I will also see if I can convince the mother to let him shoot some guns. At a minimum I will be replacing his single cock airsoft rifle with a full auto because everyone needs a machine gun. It was definitely a fun day for me.

That has to be the most well stocked liquor store in Knoxville too. I have been in there several times and never left disappointed, even the times Mike wasn't there.

I think a lot of problems related to pump shotguns is how new shooters rack them. Seen plenty of new shooters that think you rack a shotgun slow and soft. If you are going to try to baby it you will have problems. You don't have to muscle it but you can't baby it either.

Ground hogs are some of the more tasty animals on this planet. They taste like a very nice beef roast when baked. They even take BBQ sauce well. They do not require any special handling either like some other "rodents". I like them a lot more than squirrels. Not many ways to get rid of them other than shooting. But I would also say if you can live with it for the next 3-4 months I would because if it is a female it likely has young. Do you have livestock that might break a leg from the holes?
