  1. 7 twist will work with any bullet weight commercially available. Personally I would rather have a bolt gun than a single shot even though I shoot my single shots more. The ONLY issue I have had is some cast bullets, with flat noses, would not chamber. But jacketed bullets ran great.
  2. Before shooting subsonic ammunition through a silencer I would verify twist rates. Not saying the twist is wrong but I cannot find mention of the twist rate either.
  3. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/nra-gun-blogs-videos-web-forums-threatened-by-new-obama-regulation/article/2565762     We are getting it on all fronts.
  4. I recently bought a barrel and ammunition from a guy in Massachusetts. He said he cannot buy ANYTHING from Midway, not a firing pin, a paper target or anything from their website. He said the reason was Massachusetts told Midway that they needed to comply with some sort of rules and actually fined Midway. Midway told them to get bent and now refuses to honor any sales to Massachusetts. Massachusetts is worried someone will order a new trigger spring for a firearm and make the trigger pull less than required by law. BTW, Thompson Center cannot sell their firearms in the state they are made, Massachusetts, because they refuse to send the state sample guns and pay the thousands of dollars to certify them.
  5. I could have sworn I read a 4473 that asks if you were discharged under "less than honorable" conditions. I guess I read it wrong. Sorry for the confusion.   I still believe the idiot is a liberal doing his best to support the liberal agenda. Why else would he do all of that then send it to a news agency?
  6. First off if he was separated from service after 13 months he likely cannot legally own a firearm. I can guarantee he did not receive an honorable discharge and more than likely he was separated under less than honorable conditions which precludes him from firearm ownership. So here we have someone who is likely no legally allowed to own firearms and we have gun owners applauding him for breaking the law.   Being from the windy city I can guarantee he is a liberal with an agenda. People do not spend their entire life living, breathing the liberal kool aid then change their spots. I have yet to meet someone from one of the many nanny states who isn't a liberal to some degree and at the top of the liberal hate is guns. And because he has an agenda he does not represent the vast majority of gun owners and we should not be applauding his efforts. I suspect a lot of these open carry people are not gun owners but are liberals who are working towards their goal of a gun free country. And this guy has done exactly what he wants to do which is divide us gun owners in smaller groups within the gun community. The easiest way to tear any group down is to create distrust within that group.   As much as I have wrote to our representatives about legalizing rifle carry I know the second it happens hundreds of immature people are going to grab their rifles and run to the nearest Walmart in order scare people. For them it is not about exercising their rights but about some sort of misguided feeling of authority or respect they think they get. I have watched dozens of videos and the overwhelming majority of them have people taking pleasure in the fear they cause. In my last round of letters, where I begged for legal rifle carry, I said conceal carry would be a great option to keep stuff like this from happening. But even so someone will mold a Kydex in the shape of an AK or AR and walk around the places they think will get the biggest rise. I know if they legalized rifle carry here I would not carry a rifle in the open because people will not get used to it, ever, and after so many moms call the representatives we will loose the ability to carry our rifles, and maybe even other firearms, despite the fact we were doing it all the time.   robnfl, I can see you are passionate about this but let me give you a few words of caution. Do not allow your passion turn into aggression towards other members here. We all make our own choices in how we want to live so do not attack other members because they do not live by your standard of living. And while I am at it I will say that the vast majority of places these open carry types actually carry has nothing to do with exercising their rights under the second amendment or the protections from the government. Anyone's right to keep and bear arms can be limited on private property and the government can, and does, limit those rights on behalf of other private entities. The open carry types are not protected by the second amendment when they carry in Walmart, Starbucks or any other retailer just like they have no legal right to free speech at those places. And those places can actually put conditions on who, how, when and what they carry. They can dictate that the only "weapons" allowed on their property are Nerf weapons and there is NOTHING anyone can do other than abide by it or leave the property. So their thinking that open carrying a rifle on private property is exercising second amendment is misguided at best and idiotic at worst.
  7. That is cool. I have an excel file that calculates based on the miller formula.
  8. Verify twist rates.
  9. When you do can you post a new thread?
  10.   That is it.   When they say a cracked trunion it makes you wonder which one, front or back. The back can take a pretty serious pounding if the gun is over gassed.   I misread, it was the barrels on the Romanian guns that lasted. But even so lasting three years as a full auto seeing more rounds in day than I shoot in a year is pretty impressive.   I have owned four Romanian guns now and I am about to buy my fifth because I like them so much. They are not as pretty as most AKs and sometimes there is fit and finish issues but I really like them. Kind of like the 1985 Ford temp I had. It was ugly as sin, body panels rusted away and those that weren't was covered in dents from hail. But with all the cosmetic issues that car went everywhere and did everything. The Romanian guns are the same, not pretty but boy do they work.   The next Draco I buy I am going to make sure everything mechanically is good then I will register it as an SBR. I will probably swap in a trunion for a fixed stock so I can use the Magpul Zhukov stock but in the mean time I will probably use the usual setup of ACE folder and stock. But I have no doubts I will pass it on to my son or granddaughter.
  11. And with it against the law to carry dignitaries there is no ay to remain on the right side of the law. You don't know who is a dignitary and where they are. Just more useless laws to try to make us all criminals.
  12. I just read an article, I will see if I can find it, where a business that rents full auto guns detailed what guns have failed. Romanian, including the WASRs, have NEVER failed other than the barrels being shot out. All others have receivers that crack right behind the front trunion. Because of this I am going to be buying a standard Draco in the next week or so. It will get the full retard treatment as far as tactical build goes and will be SBRd.   I recently bought a DDI AK built here in Knoxville. It uses brand new Bulgarian parts kits and it is a VERY nice AK for $700. Without a doubt it is the most accurate AK I have ever shot. We had some discussions about the FENOCite treatment but mine is an early gun that was treat 100%. Current production only has the barrel, bolt and carrier treated. I feel at $700 mine is a deal because the entire gun is treated but the current production is a little high for what you get.   For 99% of AK shooters a WASR will work fine providing the sights are not canted but honestly I have not heard of a WASR with canted sights for a long time.   But if I had to choose between the PSA AK and the DDI AK for the price I would pick a DDI. But if I needed an AK that just works, and may not look all that great, I would gladly buy a WASR.     When was that?
  13. I know when a lot of bids are requested for new vehicles part of the contract price per vehicle includes that vehicle's maintenance. At least that is the way departments do it. I have no clue if TDOT or THP does it that was as well.
  14.   And the world is a really screwed up place when GSG is the reason for a nice gun.   I would have gladly paid $1,000+ for a steel receiver MP5 clone in 22lr but instead they use plastics and pot metal.
  15. The Sig Mosquitos are not much better, that have the pot metal slide as well. When I was looking for a small pistol for my suppressor, before the 22 shortage, I called S&W and Sig. Sig told me that the Mosquito will last 10K-15K rounds with proper maintenance. Smith told me their 22 would last "forever" and I said I doubt it and removed them from the running. I bought a Ruger SR-22 and after a HUGE fiasco it has turned out to be a really good pistol. Matter of fact the ONLY little pistol I will buy again would be the Ruger SR22, at least it has a slide made out of real metal. And even though it is aluminum it has been extremely durable.   A funny Walther story. A friend bought one brand new and brought it over to my house to shoot it. Within three magazines the front sight popped off. I looked at it and realized it was just pressed in place so I pressed it in place hoping it would stay. Nope, within a magazine the front sight was gone again but this time we could not find it. I will say it ran like a scalded dog though.
  16. Got what I need, thanks guys.
  17. I have a bunch of magazines, not gun but publications, that I am needing to send out. I would prefer to send them to someone overseas rather than toss them out. I know when I was over there most magazines were years old.   So if anyone has the address for someone that is deployed, and will be for a little while longer, please PM me their address.   Thanks
  18. Thanks but if it ain't right then it's wrong ?
  19.   He hit all the ones on one side of the target. The "side" at the top of the target lost and the "side" at the bottom won because they did not have all their ships sunk.
  20. It is available right now for those who have the ability to 3D print. https://github.com/maduce/defcad-repo/tree/master/Rifles/WarFairy_P-15_Stock-Shanrilivan
  21.   I would rather have Spots by my side to help me solve any problem than most others. He is not dangerous unless there is a need to be.   Funny how you talk about how flag burning is free speech yet when someone says something you don't like you say he should be committed. He has made no threats towards you so who are you to say he needs to be committed? As much as you seem to dislike Spots for what he has said you doing the exact same thing.   As I said their are consequences for everyone involved. If someone burns a flag and their ass gets beat then, right or wrong, that is a consequence. The person doing the beating will likely find themselves in jail for doing it and that is their consequence. If getting an ass beating is worth it to burn the flag then so be it. And if going to jail is worth beating the flag burners ass then so be it. The only person that can determine if it is worth it is the person suffering the consequences.
  22. George Bush Sr. was also another anti gun Republican like Reagan. We can thank Bush Sr. for the ban on importing "assault weapons" from foreign countries. It was his actions that caused the ATF to create 922r. And not to be outdone George Bush Jr. did some other stuff. I can't remember exactly what he did but it affects every gun owner today by further inhibiting our rights as gun owners. Jr. also recommended the Assault Weapons Ban be extended but he could not get it done.   We have not had a president that supports gun rights in at least 40 years and probably close to 50 years. Every president in the last 30 years wanted gun control extended and did everything they could to limit our rights.
  23. I go to Walmart and buy the 3000 grit Trizact pad to polish my parts. It works great without taking a lot of material off.
  24. And while people think they can say anything they want under the guise of "freedom of speech" I will say they cannot. The protections afforded someone under the First Amendment is only there to protect the individual from the government, it does not protect them from another private party. Because I am not a government agency I can limit people's right to free speech on my property. If I don't like what you are saying I do not have to listen to it and can tell someone to either quit or leave my property. No one has the right to say whatever they want whenever they want, especially on private property.   And one must realize that even though they may be allowed to say what they want under the guise of "free speech" there are consequences for what they say, both good and bad, and there should be. One must weigh the consequences to determine if the personal reward of saying what they want outweighs the risks. For most people the risks are far too great to speak their mind most of the time. Everyone weighs those decisions every day and just because someone may have a right to say something does not mean they will not suffer the consequences for what they chose to say. Just because someone has the right to say something does not mean they are exempt from the consequences and if those consequences break the law then they will have to deal with their own set of consequences for their actions. I can guarantee there is not a single person on this board who speaks their mind 100% of the time without weighing the consequences.
