Problem with reloading 7.62x39 is finding reloadable brass. I reloaded it for a while but resorted to buying Wolf and tearing the ammunition down. If you are going to reload might as well go 300 Blackout. It is a dream for those that reload. And with a silencer you are going to have a very, very quiet setup in 300 Blackout. With 7.62x39 you have to use more powder to get equal velocities, even subsonic, because of the larger case and more powder means more gasses and more gases means more noise. Another reason to avoid 7.62x39 is the twist is generally too slow for heavy bullet at subsonic velocities. And if the twist is too slow you WILL baffle strike your can ruining it. With 300 Blackout bolt guns you can use very, very fast pistol powders to get a setup that is, literally, quieter than a sling shot. The general rule for loading SUBSONIC 300 Blackout in a single shot/bolt action is to use 45 ACP load data for bullets weighing the same or less. And if you decide on 300 Blackout I am just a phone call away to make sure you don't have to mess around figuring out what works and what doesn't.

I will make sure to find me a knife fighting class before I use one for self defense. Matter of fact I don't think I have enough gun training to carry. After all being in the military, being in law enforcement as well as carrying a firearm for work in hostile environments probably isn't enough for your requirements. Personally the ONLY people who should not be allowed are those who have a proven VIOLENT history. I don't care if someone is a felon or bat#### crazy as long as they are not violent they should be able to use any means necessary, including fully automatic grenade launching machine guns, to protect themselves even if they do not have a single second of training. You, my friend, are the worst kind of gun owner. One that wants to limits other gun owners for their own reasons.

.223/5.56mm Home Defense Ammo
Dolomite_supafly replied to EssOne's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
It is stable to about 100 yards. You can see a feathered side of the bullet hole in the target because it is just starting to loose stability. I will say it shot better than any other AR with M855. -

Stockade and McMillian both make stocks lighter than ANY Boyd offering. But you will blow your $500 budget on the stock alone. -

Well if I have to shoot I might use my cheapest ammunition which is my cast, and powder coated, bullets for my 300 Blackout. They cost me 4.4 cents a shot. -
Quality low profile gas blocks
Dolomite_supafly replied to rugerla1's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Anything steel will be better than anything aluminum. Now I prefer clamp on versus setscrew as the method of attachment. Clamp on provided nearly 100% coverage while setscrew types rarely provide 50% coverage. Of all the gas blocks I have seen leak between the block and barrel setscrew types are at the top of that list. -
AR carry at Atlanta airport

And even the right to life is not guaranteed here in the US. Our government can, and does, kill people regularly so those they are killing do not have the right to life. But their loss of life are the consequences of their actions. -

God is what gives us the right to self defense and the Constitution, that was created by mortals, is what gives us the right to keep and bear arms. Without the Constitution, and specifically the 2nd amendment, we would be like the vast majority of the countries in the world and be without firearms but still have the right to self defense. The ONLY document that guarantees our right to keep and bear arms is the Constitution and that was written by mortals, not God. If God is present in England, why do they not have firearms for self defense? Australia? Japan? The reason why is because none of those countries have a document that guarantees the right to keep and bear arms like our Constitution does. The Constitution is what guarantees our right to keep and bear arms, not God. What about those that do not believe in God? Are they not allowed the benefit of a firearm for self defense? Of course not because the Constitution is what gives them the right to keep and bear arms, regardless if they believe in God or not. If the right to keep and bear arms was believed to be a God given right then why did the founding fathers feel the need to specifically guarantee it in the Constitution? They did not create an amendment with the right to self defense because they know that self defense is a God given right and does not need to be protected like the second amendment. Look at all the other amendments and tell me which other ones are God given rights because if one is then they all are. Is the right to vote a God given right? What about the right to unreasonable searches and seizures? Or the right to trial by jury? Those are NOT God given rights but rights given to us in the Constitution. So the right to keep and bear arms is the same as the other amendment. You have no right, God given or otherwise, to carry a weapon on someone else's property for your own self defense unless they specifically give you that right. You still have the right to self defense, because that IS a God given right, but the property owner can dictate what weapon you use on their property. They can dictate ANY conditions, except self defense or those against the law, while on their property including the wearing of a pink tutu with purple dots. So I guess that means the property owner must trump God and the right to keep and bear arms you say he gave you because they can remove your right to use a firearm on their property. I endorse and will stand by anyone's right to carry a firearm any way they choose but when their actions threaten my ability to carry a firearm then they are no a friend of the gun community. And if they are no friend to the gun community then they are the enemy to the gun community. Embody is a prime example of this, nothing he has done thus far is illegal but his actions will eventually impact others and their ability to have a firearm. And that is why we condemn him, not because what he is doing is illegal but because what he is doing is irresponsible and may impact fellow gun owners. The right to keep and bear arms is not a God given right. Self defense is a God given right, the right to keep and bear arms is not. -
That is great. Glad to see you are getting training and especially when you can go with your father, it will provide memories you will never forget. I am only about 30 minutes from VR so if you need anything before, during or after the class let me know. I will do what I can.

And before anyone gets confused. I respect their right to carry a rifle so long as it doesn't jeopardize my right to carry a firearm. When their actions jeopardize my right that is when I will condemn them every chance I get. -

Ok, the right to self defense is a God given right. The right to keep and bear arms is NOT a God given right unless the founding fathers were gods. The right to keep and bear arms is not a right that is guaranteed forever and is not absolute like the right to self defense is. And just like you cannot say whatever you want wherever you want you cannot carry whatever you want wherever you want. Now anywhere you find yourself you still have the God given right to protect yourself but you sure as hell can be told what tools you are allowed to use when defending yourself. I am speaking in how things are and not how we want them to be. I am very pro second amendment but I also recognize the fact that my rights should not interfere with others rights, especially outside of my own property. My right to carry, either rifle or pistol, does not trump someone else's rights on their own property. You have no clue how many emails I have wrote and phone calls I have made trying to get rifle carry passed here in Tennessee. Anyone who has been on the board for any amount of time knows I have a real need to have as much firepower as I can have. But after seeing what all is happening in other states that have open rifle carry I had a change of heart. I would love nothing more than to tote a rifle around wherever I go but in the end I would rather be able to carry a pistol on my side, and have my rifle in my vehicle, than take a chance on loosing both by carrying a rifle openly. I will gladly leave a rifle in my vehicle in order to have a handgun on my side. Having a bunch of immature idiots walk around with rifles slung in order to scare people will do nothing but cause the majority of people demand a change and those changes in firearms laws might prevent me from carrying ANY firearms, including rifles. Ideally I wish everyone tolerated everything all the time but we, as humans, are intolerant of things we do not like. And no matter how often one might do it those that do not like it will continue to not like it. And when we force people to do something they do not like they will take action and in the case of carrying rifles the action taken might affect more than those who are the ones carrying rifles. We, in Tennessee, are allowed to carry openly or concealed and the vast majority of people are OK with that. But carrying a rifle, which hasn't been in favor since the invention of a pistol, is not something people will ever get accustomed to. And while I embrace their enthusiasm it would be better served talking to people about it than scaring the same people that will eventually take that right away from them. I have probably watched hundreds of hours of these rifle chuckleheads and in the vast majority you can see they enjoy making people uncomfortable or enjoy the conflicts they create. Then afterwards they often revel in the joy it brought them when they think they have won but they do not realize what risks they are putting other gun owners in. I have yet to hear of a single positive thing come out of those that open carry, a lot of negatives but no positives. Imagine, for a second, that open carry of rifles were outlawed in places they are allowed. Do you honestly think those that open carry rifles would not find another way to grief others? I know they will because those bent on causing grief to others will find any means possible to grief others. And as other have said, just because you have a right to do something does not mean you should. And what do you think is going to happen because of this guys antics? Think people are going to embrace it or even tolerate it? No, the average person is going to see what he has done, get scared and demand the laws be changed. Then what will be left is yet another place people cannot protect themselves from criminals. -

And during the initial uproar is when all the knee jerk legislation gets passed. No amount of open carry will change everyone's minds and all it takes is a few dozen calls by some worried moms for our legislators to act. Not to mention when LE has to deal with s rash of 911 calls because of it they will push for a change. -

What stock do you have? There are plenty of ultra lightweight stocks but they cost. As long as you did not affect the bolt lugs or the receiver lugs it might work. I would not do it but I also believe that it would not be unsafe. I would have tried to use a low pressure, big bore, caliber so you can take more off the barrel. -

They used the ITAR regulations to go after the 3d printed guns. Stuff like this will only get worse the closer we get to his term ending. What scares the bejesus out of me is that ~3 months between the election and him leaving office. We are going to see an all out assault on all guns and ammunition, specifically imports, because he KNOWS he can do it using executive orders and by the time all the outrage will hit Washington he will be long gone. Then Hillary will finish the fight or at least refuse to reverse everything Obama will have done. We ARE getting to a point where contacting representatives is a senseless waste of time. I contact my representatives all the time regarding issues and they do not care about me or what I have to say. They only care when they are not getting their fair share of the corrupt profits. This is no different than what started the Revolutionary war. We are getting taxed to a point it is a serious burden and our representatives do not represent us or even listen to us. Our representatives, state and federal, are so corrupt that they do not want to risk being caught themselves by trying to hold others accountable. There have never been any more clear cut cases for impeachment as well as a well deserved cleaning in Washington but not a single representative will start the process. Yes there is a lot of posturing and talk but nothing is, or ever will be, done. We ARE about to loose a substantial amount of our gun rights. Not because of this but because Obama knows the system and knows he can use executive orders to significantly impact the rights of gun owners. Imagine if he put in place and executive order banning the import of guns, ammunition as well as ANY gun related item? And he has the authority to do it using executive orders and just like the Kalashnikov Concern import ban anything else banned by executive order will be there forever. How fun will it be to shoot your AK when ammunition will be $1 a round? He has already put a HUGE burden on those importing gun powder for reloading. And along with our second amendment will be an attack on all the others. We are already seeing serious attacks on ALL of the first 10 amendments with the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th being their main focus right now. Think we are not in the midst of a fledgling tyranny? Ask yourself if you are afraid of the government and the answers to both are the same. If the populace is afraid of their government then that government is generally a tyrannical government. -
Tennessee Arms lower
Dolomite_supafly replied to ArmyBrat61's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Use aluminum. They can be had cheap and are much more durable than the polymer lowers. Polymer AR lowers is still in its infancy and manufacturers are still trying to work out issues. Aluminum has been used for 50 years and is still working great. -
I would think that if you got a decent wireless router you should be able to use it anywhere in the house. I know my signal is useable to about 300 feet from the router outside of the house. It sits at one end of the house and I get a great signal 50 feet away at the other end of the house. I do see some degradation but it is not so bad, 23MBs at the router and ~19MBs wirelessly 50 feet away. My router is just the one that came with our DSL setup but the Linksys router I ran before worked just as good.

- Second Amendment Attorney Recommendation(s) ...
Dolomite_supafly replied to Zeke311's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I thought you could pick your guns up with a conditional, that is if the dealer wants to. I am sure you have already read this but: What is a Conditional Proceed? If during the background check TICS locates a record with outstanding disqualifying charges or charges that are undeterminable as disqualifying, TICS will deny the transaction. Upon an appeal of the denial, TICS will attempt to find disposition information on the charges in order to make a determination of eligibility to purchase a firearm. If TICS cannot obtain the information within the mandatory 15 day limit, the transaction will be marked as a Conditional Proceed. This means that the firearm dealer may lawfully, at his/her discretion, complete the transfer, although it in no way means that the dealer must complete the transfer. Should the dealer choose not to complete the transfer, your only appeal is to the FBI's NICS Appeals Services Unit. You may contact them at (877) 324-6427. -

I will start: The M4 is a gas operated, magazine fed, air cooled weapon shooting the 5.56x45 round. It is capable of semi automatic, as well as fully automatic, firing. Fully automatic rates of fire are 750 rounds per minute. It has a muzzle velocity in excess of 3,000 fps and is capable of piercing a steel helmet at 500 meters. Hopefully that is not too technical and I hope some Congalese tribesman doesn't use this information.- 55 replies
