I actually really like the tactical stock by Boyds. It might be made out of wood, and coated, but it is still pretty light. It also feels very nice.

Walmart strikes again, this time more serious

The manager submitted the report stating the employee did not do the damage. Said he closed it manually but did not damage the vehicle. Problem is the door is not designed to be pulled close manually. It was driven in and he used the automatic opener to open the rear door. After he was done he pulled down on the door to close it causing the damage. They are now saying that the person, me, who inspected the cracked wheel damaged it. Problem is AFTER that is when the employee opened the door automatically then pulled the rear door down. The last person to touch the rear hatch was the employee when he pulled the rear door down. As far as the issues they have not all happened this month, this year or even in the past 3 years. My first incident was before my son graduated and that was in 2010. That was the one were an employee told me she needed to take an item to the counter to keep me from stealing it. Probably a year later I was called an idiot when I told an employee I verified something in stock but she could not find it. In the last 3 years I have complained two more times, once when an assistant manager threaten to refuse to sell me a firearm when my wife asked him why it took 45 minutes to pay. And the last complaint was when I caught the sporting goods department hiding ammunition and overheard a supervisor telling customers to use pellet rifles to kill neighbors dogs. Hardly what I would consider excessive. It will get fixed and management will continue to lie to cover the issues within their store. And we will be taking the money we spend somewhere else. -
Great shooting.

In a perfect world you want the bolt, carrier and buffer to stop and begin its return without hitting the bottom of the receiver extension. But the distance between picking up the next round and the dead stop is such a small amount, less than 1", that it is nearly impossible to do. You probably could but as soon as the gun gets a little dirty the bolt will no longer lock back. So the next best thing is to tune it so the bolt comes back with the least amount of force necessary for it to be reliable. Now the AK, for comparison, has at least 1.75" of travel past the magazine so it is very easy to tune the rifle so the carrier/bolt does not impact the rear trunion. And ALL AKs are over gassed which contributes significantly to felt recoil, just like over gassed ARs, but where the AR has a very small reliability window the AK has a very large reliability window. You can get an AK setup to run under a concept called "constant recoil", where the bolt and carrier are only working against the spring pressure without hitting anything to stop it, it totally changes the feel of the AK. An AK tuned this way feels amazing because the normal clunky feeling an AK is gone and replaced with extremely smooth.

You can look at the Bravo and tell it is gassed near perfectly, the others not so much.

Those would not bother me or get a second look.

I am a tolerant person, or try to be, as well as try to give people a chance or the benefit of the doubt. I also tend to take people's word at face value. But this will be the straw that will make me never step foot in that place again. And even though I will never step foot in there again I will continue to spread the word about Nick, Stacy, Linda and the others who have no business interacting with any other living thing. I will say that the manager that handled the car issue was great. I apologized as soon as I seen her for being short with her on the phone and after that things were great. I would gladly have her as a manager over Stacy. Matter of fact when I talk to the district manager tomorrow I will make that fact known. -

I have wrote corporate once when I had an associate tell me she needed to carry something to the register so I would not steal it. All the rest were to local guys. Had one call me an idiot because SHE could not find something I called ahead to make sure it was in stock. Had a manager threated to refuse a sale of a firearm because my wife asked him why we waited 45 minutes to pay for a gun. Had another tire a lube guy put the wrong oil in then when we went to get it corrected they wanted us to wait until all other oil changes were done, estimated wait time 3+ hours. I called the district manager over the oil change issue. All the rest I have complained to the store manager who promises me the world yet the same lady who implied we were thieves is still treating customers like crap and the lady who called me an idiot was moved to another department. Then there is the sporting goods manager who is a worthless pile of crap and not because of his gun views but because of the other stuff he spews from his soup cooler. I have spoke to the store manager probably 5 times in the last two years about stuff. He tells me next time I am in the store come see him. I try and he either says he is too busy or just ignores me as I try to talk to him. Funny thing is this is the ONLY store like this. Every other Walmart I have been to has people who appreciate they have a job and at least act like they they care. This store you walk in, shop, ask for help, check out and never get a single response from anyone. I ask were something is and they point generally. I now tell them to show me because I have no clue what they are pointing at from across the store. And when they show me they get close enough to point again and never say a single word. Honestly this is probably the final straw. It will get fixed either by Walmart or by our insurance. The damage isn't just some scratches on our Escalade but the guy broke the lift mechanism as well as seriously bent the rear door, hinges or body where the hinges attach. There are cameras everywhere so I am sure it will show he did not "easily close it" like he told a different store manager. He also told the store manager he did not know the rear door had a button to lower it. And she, the store manager, pretty much implied it would be taken care of based on his statements alone. She said she will put in her report everything he said as well the obviously screwed up rear door. -

My intent was not to upset you but to show what kind of Vietnam veteran this guy is. I know saying a Vietnam veteran liked the things Fonda had to say are fighting words but I have no doubt that is exactly how this guy feels because we have talked about gun related stuff. The stuff he spews is generally a lot worse than most liberals and because he is over sporting goods he HAS the ability to affect gun owners. Like I said I have caught him hiding "military" calibers several times because he believe they should not be sold to civilians. Funny thing is he said a 30-06 is a great hunting round and is NOT a military caliber. I have seen him as he has scoffed at customers wanting to look at ARs. He tells customers that an AR is unreliable and that it was designed to kill kids which turns most people away. I personally asked him to check the UPC code on some hollow point subsonic 22's that I KNOW are in the system. I brought the UPC code I ripped from a box I bought from that store and asked if he could order more. He looked them up and said he would not order them because they are hollow points. He has recommended pellet rifles to customers to use to kill their neighbors pets. He is NOT the store manager, only the manager over sporting goods. I asked and they said they would not release the video or even the statement from the guy who did it. -
H3, and all the other buffers, were created to correct the symptoms of an over gassed AR which is an issue in most modern ARs. And believe me when I say that most ARs are over gassed, even with an H3 buffer, because being over gassed has nothing to do with the weight of the buffer and everything to do with the port size. Adding all the weight in the world will not fix a port that is too large because it is the port size that determines when a gun unlocks, not the buffer. The BEST setup is the lightest buffer you can use with a weapon that is NOT over gassed. Because most manufacturers use larger gas ports thinking it helps reliability an adjustable gas block is often needed correct the root issue of being over gassed. An overweight buffer is only used to mask the issue, not correct it. An over gassed gun, even with a heavy buffer, will have a lot of symptoms. Some of the symptoms are they run dirtier, they run hotter, they wear quicker, they break more often, they have more felt recoil and they throw more crud into the shooter's face (especially with a silencer). It is often a vicious cycle, especially with 300 Blackout. Someone installs a barrel with the correct port and the gun runs great and is reliable. Then someone else comes along and tells them to install an H3 buffer to make the already reliable gun more reliable. The owner installs the H3 buffer and the gun no longer is reliable so the person who recommended the H3 buffer tells them to drill the port to a larger size to make the gun reliable again. Then the gun that was reliable before now begins to suffer from new problems from being over gassed like the excessive crud in the receiver, excessive parts wear, excessive heat and more felt recoil. I have seen that exact scenario play out dozens and dozens of times on another board I moderate on. If a gun needs an H3 buffer it also needs an adjustable gas block because the barrel port is WAY too big. I know some that run buffers that do not weigh 1.5 ounces with an adjustable gas block and those guns are 100% reliable with less felt recoil than most ARs. My guns run cleaner than any other AR I have ever seen. The reason is they are gassed correctly. An AR should not need to be cleaned every couple of hundred rounds to be reliable.

Personally I would call one of the strip clubs the "Gaza Strip Club".

And Friday I spoke to the district manager about the sporting goods manager. A friend caught him stashing ammunition, again, under the display cases then sell them to obvious friends. I have personally caught him stashing it as well as saying he will never order or sell hollow points because they are "designed to maim children". He also said military calibers are designed to kill children and the only guns a person should have is a bolt action. He is a Vietnam Veteran so he probably in love with Jane Fonda and what she has said. I have filed complaints against him and what he has said to me several times. The store manager, Stacy, refuses to do anything to fix his store. I have been called an idiot, implied I am a thief and threatened by associates yet the manager continues to allow it to happen. The manager is nice but acts as spineless as they come. i guess his employees have something in him or he just doesn't care, either way he should not be in charge of cleaning the fish tanks. -
So we recently had a tire on our new to us SUV start leaking. I told my wife to take it to Walmart and have them fix it, that was last week sometime. The worker said the rim had a crack. My wife became worried it might fail so I told her we would get it fixed. This past Wednesday my wife went to Walmart and had them remove the leaky tire/wheel from the vehicle and put the spare on. Then the worker removed the tire from the "cracked" wheel and placed it in the back of the SUV. The wheel was inspected that same day and it was NOT cracked at all. So the tire and wheel was placed back into the SUV to go back to Walmart. My wife went back to Walmart on Thursday and had a worker put the tire and wheel back together and secure the spare back under the vehicle. She thought everything was good to go and went home. The rear door of our SUV is automatic. You have to hit a button, either on the key fob or the door itself or from the driver's seat, to open and close the rear door. You cannot pull down on the door to close it, at least not without doing a certain way that is way more complicated than pushing a button. Well it turns out everything was not fine. This morning my wife went to open the back it made an awful racket, raised 1/2 way then closed. And in the process scraping the paint because the door itself, or the frame, is bent bad enough to scrape the panel next to the door. The best we can figure is the idiot opened the rear door then forgot it was automatic. Then after he was done working on the tires he tried to close the rear door without pushing the button. He had to of swung from it like a jungle gym with his full weight on it because it did bend the door, or frame, as well as probably shearing the teeth off the cogs that raise and lower the door. We contacted Walmart and they are "investigating". The worker that did it already lied about it by saying it easily closed but the manager said the worker said he didn;t know the door was automatic. So if he didn't hit the button to automatically close it he had to have forced it and based on the damage he had to have hung off of it. Hoping they do the right thing. Monday we are getting a estimate for repair and if Walmart doesn't pay then I will file and insurance claim against the worker himself as well as Walmart. Now if he had screwed up and come clean I would not have been so upset. But the fact he did it then let it go out the door really upset me, especially when my wife talked to him about it before she left. Then when confronted again he lied again to try to cover himself. I am thinking he did $3K-$5K worth of damage. Hopefully it is not but I cannot see a partial paint job, replacing the gear drives and replacing the rear door being cheap.

If you are ever in the Knoxville area I will do it for you.

I bet he can't do that with a real gun, especially a gun with a much shorter slide like most carry guns. Probably not enough area to rack a gun like a Shield or other compact gun. The gun he is using is super easy to rack because it is longer and is a "match" pistol which typically requires a lot less force to rack.

I still have your address, do not buy anything. I got some of the best stuff to use for things like that.

How much of a bell are you putting on? You ONLY want enough to keep the bullets from being shaved and that leaves a bell that is very hard to feel and even harder to see. If it is easy to see your bell then it is probably too big.

See the problem is the "training" did not start out the way it is now. Now the trainers are more interested in getting done, and collecting their cash, than actually training. They fudge the time requirements and what is supposed to be taught. Yes there is and the vast majority of the members here on TGO understand what it is and abide by it. That is why TGO is such a great board, especially so considering we are a male dominated board. Yes we have disagreements and even argue but in the end we understand it is nothing personal. On other boards, where the population is predominantly male, there are constant testosterone filled arguments.

Hose the action down with WD-40. Make sure to really soak the inside of the action with it. Let it set for 10-15 minutes then use high pressure air, from a compressor and not one of those cans, and blow out the receiver. Repeat 2-3 times. Most guns that quit working do so because of crud, dirt or debris inside the working parts. The best, and easiest, way to clean most guns is with WD-40. WD-40 is not a lubricant. It is more like a mild solvent and helps break down dried out oils and greases in most older and neglected guns.

For front sights the best to use are for Thompson Center Contenders. They offer several different bases with different heights as well as different replaceable blades of different heights. And all they take is one or two holes to be drilled and tapped. They are all I use anymore for projects that need sights. ARs in 300 Blackout are great but they are substantially louder than any single shot or bolt action. Even using the same ammunition the AR is louder because of the pressures needed to cycle the gun. And while I do have an AR in 300 Blackout the gun I shoot most often is my T/C Encore in 300 Blackout followed by my T/C Contender pistol. BTW, they have stopped doing the barrel service for Handi rifles. You can no longer get a barrel fitted from the factory. But I have seen the AAC version in 300 Blackout beign sold for $250 so that is probably the cheapest way to get a gun chambered in 300 Blackout. The next best thing is a T/C Contender. You can find barrels in pretty much any caliber you want but finding rifle barrel chambered in pistol calibers can be very, very challenging unless you have one custom made.

Brits? Glad I am an American, I would hate to be cannibalized.

Believe it or not but we get people who register then send the staff messages that get them banned. Then there are the ones who get banned then reregister only to get banned again before they can post anything. The names they register under also can determine whether they stay. Or if it is obvious they have an agenda they get a real hard look too.
