And shooting from a bench helps a lot.
-
After my accident most calibers would hurt me to shoot. I sold everything heavier than a 308 and put muzzle brakes on most everything else. This reduced the impact significantly and helps me shoot longer. As far as holding it up I would suggest shooting sticks. I carry a set worne everywhere I go in the form of crutches. I have shot off of them quite a bit to practice and they do help me with accuracy.

Lemons, and anything acidic, reduces your blood sugar so that might be it.

I generally order everything I need online but I do not want to wait on this one. Looking for a UTG/Leapers back up A2 iron sight.

Something else some may not know is that there is a difference between grass fed and grain fed beef for diabetics. We try to get grass fed but sometimes we can't and we have noticed a spike between the two. I would also assume other animals that are fed high carb diets might also effect a diabetics blood sugar. I can tell you it is the most confusing thing I have ever had to deal with. In the beginning we had 4-5 different meals so some days were identical to others. But what is confusing is even though we had the exact same meal one day one of them would raise her blood sugar 20-30 points higher with no other change. A few other things that really affect blood sugar is physical exertion, emotional stress and stress on the body. My wife will have her blood sugar levels raise 40-50 points if she is out in the hot sun exerting herself, even if for only 10-15 minutes. Or just getting hot from being outside can cause her blood sugar to rise. The idiots on the road raise her blood sugar. And the biggest jumps I have seen in her blood sugar, other than pure sugar, is from stress.

Exactly, they might be better for regular people but some whole grain pasta is actually worse for you than regular pasta but either way pasta is not good for you. The whole grain just does not spike and drop as quickly as refined but it still raises it. Also, follow the serving size if you MUST eat it. Takes the fun out of it eating serving sizes but it is what one MUST do to get, and keep, their sugar under control. Even if you eat 4-5 servings 3-4 times a day it is a whole lot better than eating one or two big, carb laden meals a day. One of the biggest eye openers for me was when I actually measured a serving size of salad dressing. I bet I would put 3-4 servings on a typical salad before.
-
Do not serve anything that is white, sugar (read labels), potatoes, corns or anything that is sweet to taste (including drinks artificially sweetened). Then after that use the recommended serving sizes and do not guess but weigh the portion, weigh it. And even if he/she has 4-5 servings of DIFFERENT things it will help a lot. And FIBER, FIBER, FIBER!!! For ever gram of fiber a diabetic eats it can knock out a gram of carbs, which can be bad, and sugars, which are bad. And something else that can drop blood sugar is vinegar so use it in salads to extend the salad dressings, which you should be measuring. I cook for my wife often and she watches what she cooks and it takes a little bit to figure out. Took me 2-3 months but I figured out a recipe for muffins my wife likes that is 0 carb and under 160 calories and it isn't a little tiny one either. For non diabetics, or those used to eating sweets, it may not be as sweet as you like but to a person on a restricted diet they are actually pretty damn good. But overall it isn't that hard to figure out what a person can, and cannot, eat. If you want I can PM you my number and talk to you more as a person helping a diabetic and less of a diabetic point of view.

Same person told me the same thing. And because Romney didn't win the last four years are probably our fault. It wouldn't have mattered who won we would still be where we are today with the races at odds with each other, the economy still in the dumps and several wars going on. Romney was not the savior, he is just like all other politicians in Washington right now.

Walmart strikes again, this time more serious
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
After they initially denied the claim we submitted documentation as well as our own video proof and viola they are going to repair it. I think the fact the Walmart had one video showing the employee did not damage it then the video from the day of the damage was not able to be found may have helped. They submitted two videos showing the vehicle but the one that actually showed the employee damaging the vehicle was no able to be located, imagine that. I think a lack of evidence by the store, the lies they told and our evidence swayed the investigator our way. I would really like to see the video because the repair people have said for the type of damage that occurred he must have been hanging from it. And what would be more important for me would be an apology by the Walmart mechanic and the Walmart supervisor who lied to protect themselves. -
There is a company that will map your ancestors travels from Africa to you. And once you get it done you can make the data available for other websites like Ancestry.com to help them find matches. What is surprising is most family histories do not match the DNA, some are minor differences while others are huge differences. When you consider that there is infidelity in most marriages these days you can see how someone's oral history does not match their DNA history. I just sent my DNA off to see what I am made of. My aunt is compiling as much about our family history as possible. For years my father said he had ton of Indian blood in us based on our name, tempers and a few other things. Lumbee Indians have my name as one of the key names in their tribe but we are not part of it apparently. Turns out that we his sister, my aunt, has 0% native American. My father refused to have his DNA read so my aunt asked me and so I did it. Will be interesting to see what I am made of.

Thumb safeties are NEVER drop in, or at least I have never seen one. They are made to be fitted so you definitely want to find someone who knows what they are doing. It is the ONLY safety that WILL prevent the gun from firing. The grip safety will not prevent the gun from firing, only from the trigger being pulled. Also, be aware that those extended safeties get bumped off safe easily. I quit running extended ones a long time ago and use smaller safeties that are harder to accidentally bump off safe.

As long as you choose a bullet that is like a traditional bullet and not a bore rider it should work with all as long as the bullet will be .313" at its largest. The 311365 I mention above would be great for all three. And as long as you are not shooting through a silencer you can add a gas check and be fine.

I have found that the heavier the bullet for a given twist the more accurate it will be. That is a generalization as some barrels are different on an individual basis. The best weight for my 9 twists has been 68 or 69 grains. I have also found that 7 twist is less accurate than 9 twist with 55 or 62 grain bullets. But as far as a self defense gun the practical accuracy will be about the same. A 2" group and a 3" group at 100 yards is still going to result in a hit to at least 300 yards. My 12 twist gun shoots M855 pretty close to MOA and is stable to at least 100 yards. You can see some slight feathering of one edge of the bullet hole indicating the bullet is slightly off kilter but that is exactly what I want. With it like that it will tumble immediately upon entry into an organic, moving target causing as much damage as possible as it hopefully fragments. With faster the twist the deeper the bullet will go before it tumbles and begins fragmenting. Where a 12 twist bullet might go 2" before tumbling a 9 twist might go 6" and 7 twist might go 12". Those numbers are generalizations but that is the idea. But if you increase the bullet weight, or length, for a given twist it will reduce the distance before tumbling. Like if the 9 twist goes 6" with a 62 grain bullet it might only go 2" with a 77 grain or 7" with a 55 grain bullet. So first you need to figure out the range of bullet weights you are likely to be shooting then pick a twist to match it rather than pick a twist and try to make it work. For 55 or 62 grain bullets, which are the most common, I would pick either a 9 or 12 twist barrel. And with a 9 twist you can easily shoot up to 73 grain bullets and most 9 twist barrels will shoot 77 grain bullets that are stable to at least 100 yards. The only reason I would pick an 8 twist or 7 twist over 9 twist is if you are shooting HEAVY bullets. An 8 twist will easily stabilize anything that will feed from an AR magazine so there is no need for a 7 twist unless you are shooting bullets so heavy they have to be loaded single shot. Something else about 7 twist is you can sling the jackets off of bullets from centrifugal force. But if you MUST have, or already have, a 7 twist barrel I would load it with the heaviest bullets I could find for self defense because the heavier, and longer, the bullet for a given twist the faster it begins the tumbling and fragmentation cannot happen unless the bullet tumbles. With FMJ bullets there are several methods of wounding. One is just going through the target, another is the bullet tumbling and finally the bullet fragmenting. A bullet that is too stable can, and will, pass through the target before it begins to tumble. We are seeing this in Afghanistan with the thin bodies, faster twists and light (for 7 twist) bullets. For a bullet to fragment it must have be two things, unstable enough to tumble first and fast enough to cause the bullet's integrity to fail causing it to fragment. If the bullet is too stable it will pass through before tumbling creating a 22lr like wound but if the bullet is unstable it will tumble and if the velocity is fast enough the bullet will fragment. And twist rates along with bullet weight/length determine where the bullet tumbles. As I said above a faster twist, or lighter bullet, increases the distance between entrance and tumbling. Intended usage also plays a role in bullet selection. If you are going to punch paper the bullet weight, and type, might be different than one used for self defense. Or if you are just blasting steel targets you do not need to worry about twist rates or bullet type. BTW, the original incarnation of the M16/AR15 used a 20" long 12 twist barrel with a 55 grain bullet. This was the ideal combination for what the AR was originally designed for which was a short, <300 yard, range weapon. It was never designed to be a long range caliber and the military has ruined the caliber trying to turn what is a short range caliber into a long range caliber. The original design was devastating because the bullets would fragment very quickly. The Vietnamese people are very similar to a typical Afghan but because we now use a 7 twist barrel rather than 12 twist 55 or 62 grain bullets are passing through Afghans before tumbling. In Vietnam a 55 grain bullet, with a slower twist, would tumble and fragment before exiting resulting in a totally different wound channel. If I had to pick a single twist for anything and everything I might encounter it would be a 9 twist. It will shoot almost everything well and the only thing it cannot do well is shoot 77+ grain bullets. But realistically a 55 or 62 grain bullet is the most likely weight you are to encounter and the 9 twist shoots those just fine. A 7 twist may, depending on bullet construction, might cause the bullets to fragment in air from centrifugal force.

The 300 Blackout is the same as 7.62x39 but more reliable to shoot out of an AR. And where it really shines is silenced which out of an AK it is not as quiet as the AR. The 300BO is also a dream to cast for. It is also more miserly than both the 7.62x39?or 5.56. But up until now it really is a reloader's caliber. At least if you actually shoot regularly. I can load subsonic ammunition at under a nickel a round and supersonic for about the same as 5.56 depending on bullets used. I transitioned to this caliber as my SHTF caliber because of few reasons. First, if is s lot easier to cast for. Second, cast billets tend to be more accurate out of the 300bo. It uses 5.56 brass which will be readily available. It can be easily silenced and be extremely quiet. There is a caliber from the turn of the century that is nearly identical in velocity and was to be used as an "assault rifle". It was going to be used to clear trenches and was fully/semi auto. It was called the Ribeyrolle 8mm. Here is the gun: http://s192.photobucket.com/user/Quickload/media/French/Ribeyrolle1918.jpg.html And the round: http://s65.photobucket.com/user/Hardrada55/media/8x35RibeyrolleG.jpg.html

Survey says: 35 percent of Americans would expatriate

I vote in every election I can. I make phone calls, send emails and talk to people because that is a lot easier than the alternative. Plenty of people think, not you, they want a revolution or civil war but I do not, at least not while every single other option has been exhausted. There is nothing patriotic or heroic about killing your fellow countrymen. I will say that we have a lot less options than we did just 10 years ago but if we can just come together against Hillary, and not for this candidate or that candidate, maybe we can ward off the collapse for a few more years. This election is not going to be like any we have seen before. Hillary, and the liberal machine that supports her, will probably outspend the top five conservative candidates combined. We will see Hillary everywhere. She has a goal of 2.5 billion dollars, twice as much as Obama. Then throw into the mix the fanatic followers of hers, the liberals, and 1/2 the conservatives refusing to vote and we have no hope. And even if there was a chance for the conservative candidate to win that will quickly be taken away by the voter fraud and the illegals that were given voting rights months or weeks before the election. I honestly believe that no matter how much the conservatives spend or how many of us get behind a conservative candidate Hillary will take this election. And the most dangerous time in our nation's history will be the time between election day and the day Hillary takes office. Obama will have 80 days of no accountability to do as much damage as possible as President. And knowing that Hillary is right behind him he will do a lot more. And she will just continue what was started but with much more vigor. -

Most Americans are spoiled and have ZERO clue how well they have it here. To many a crisis is when their internet goes down for a few hours or they have sold out of their favorite Frap at Starbucks. People think it is an emergency, and call 911, when the food they ordered is wrong. They have no clue what it is like to wonder where the next meal is going to come from. The United States is the ONLY country in the world where our "poor" are fat, have cell phones and cars to drive. But with that being said it is no wonder people want to leave. We have not seen such a great divide among our citizens since the civil war close to 150 years ago. And those divides are by race, by income as well as by religion. We have certain groups openly calling for the death of other groups, even children, and the authorities do NOTHING as long as you are a certain color. And what is truly sickening is that OUR government that is charged with protecting its citizens supports, and even encourages, it. Some are taken away to be punished for what they say while others are not and it appears as though the only difference between the two are the color of the skin. The Black Panthers have recently called for the killing of white babies in hospitals, which is not only racists but also criminal, and NOTHING was done yet there is a national outrage over a flag the supposedly represents white racism in America. What is truly ironic is that we, as a country, are too politically correct to be able to say we are too politically correct. I would love to live in a country where people can be free to do what they want without fear. The United States used to be that country but not anymore. The federal government is using its power to control, and even harm, those that are critical of it. We cannot do ANYTHING anymore without the government's permission and if we try we are punished. People in the United States are afraid, afraid of the government whose primary responsibility is to protect them. We are being ruled by an elite oligarchy that controls every aspect of ALL of our lives and our only role in it all is to be good citizens to our masters. If we question their authority they will make us criminals as adults, medicate us as children or label us as terrorists. What is the definition of tyranny again? The land of the free and home of the brave I fought for is no more. What we have now is probably the most corrupt government on the face of earth. -
Now is the time when a lot of reserve pilots are logging hours in the cockpit. But I seriously doubt they would be training over the 4th holiday.

I have had so many problems out of my local Walmart I am done going to the store. That particular store is the only one in the area like it. The "associates" act like they hate having a job and they customers are just the annoyance of being able to collect a paycheck without doing much at all. I had a worker refuse to sell me a gun because my signature was wrong. I pulled out my drivers license and a passport to verify my signature as real. He said it must be my entire name written out and it must be legible. I told him it was my signature and he said he would not sell me a gun. If you, or anyone, has a problem with their Walmart call and complain about it. You should not be treated badly when you are trying to give them your hard earned money.

Probably has something to do with how easy it is to combine this with a pressure cooker create havoc. They have regulated ammonium nitrate for no other reason they to prevent its use as an explosive as well so why not fireworks? Doesn't matter what they take away those that are set on doing harm will do so with a new tool they will also try to regulate or outlaw.

If they will chamber they will be fine. Pressure is not an issue with oversized CAST bullets. I have shot .313" bullets out of a .308" bore using the same recipe as smaller bullets and had no problems. Those coated bullets will work fine. Even if they are blotchy they will still work perfectly.
