  1. My response:
  2. The use of firearms for self defense is not a basic human right, it is a privilege given to us by our fellow man and that privilege can easily be taken away by those who gave it to us. A right is something that cannot be legally taken away which firearms can and are being taken away. No one can legislate away a man's right to self defense but they can take away that man's privilege of using a firearm for self defense.   Self defense is a basic human right but the tool you use is not part of it.   Illegal aliens, even if they are murdering psychopaths here illegally, still have the right to self defense but their right to use a firearm in THIS country should not, and is not, allowed. When they decide to break the law by entering the country illegally they forfeit all rights afforded to citizens of this country. Now if they want to enter legally then they should have all the same rights as any other person here legally.
  3. Smack the bottom of the mag. If you can seat it with your hand, even if it does take some force, then it is normal. These are tools and sometimes tools need to have the rough treatment to work.
  4. 1 is normal. An empty magazine will hold the slide back. If you want the slide forward on an empty magazine then drop the slide before inserting the magazine.   I am pretty sure I carried mine, which is 9mm, with 7+1.
  5. The video, although sad and disturbing, is no more graphic than a PG13 movie. A few muzzle flashes seen on a shaky video followed by a victim running before the camera image goes away. You do not see anyone dead, blood or any other type of gore.   I say this to encourage people to watch the video that haven't. This is a very, very rare look at an attack especially from the shooter's perspective.   What is truly disturbing is the fact that the typical group of race baiters are silent on this one. I bet we will see the murderer get exalted by those race baiters as they encourage others to do the same.
  6. Have you shot it yet? Might be just fine the way it is.
  7. The right to carry a firearm is NOT a right anyone is born with, the right of self defense is. Man gave us the right to carry a firearm, not God.
  8. But they do not have the right to buy them legally. Just like the the fact that even though the 19th amendment allows women to vote. It's it doesn't mean ALL women can vote.
  9. If you want to see disturbing watch a stamped AK firing at a slow speed. Looks like a cooked spaghetti noodle.
  10. The shooter is in custody after shooting himself when confronted by authorities. They say he is still alive but may not survive or be able to stand trial. Either way he will find himself in hell both before and after his death. I can only hope that he regains full cognitive function but is unable to move anything other than his eyeballs. That would be hell for anyone to be stuck in the tomb that is your own mind with no escape possible.   I watched the video the shooter took, it is sad and disturbing. What is really disturbing is the shooter pulled the gun out then stood there pointing it at the three victims before he began shooting. I guess at one point he realizes his gun does not have a round chambered so he chambers a round then begins firing 3-5 seconds later. All the victims were distracted by the interview and never noticed the shooter or had a clue about his intentions. It could also be that his former fellow employees might not have viewed him as a threat as well.   It truly is sad as the reporter just moved in with her long time boyfriend and they were planning on getting married soon.   We need to seriously look at the "justice" system. Not so much this case but other cases where the crimes were violent. Violent criminals should be classified differently and be punished differently than those who commit non violent crimes. I would have ZERO issue with some form of daily corporal punishment of anyone who is convicted of murder, rape, molestation or any of the other seriously violent crimes. Hold a separate trial to determine whether the crime was violent AND premeditated and if so let the daily punishment begin. Feed them nutritionally adequate meals that are made without the concern of how it tastes. Some sort of mush, like a thickened soup, that they get from a tube in the wall of their cell a few times a day. Feed them all the same thing and just enough to keep them alive, definitely not enough for them to work out or have the energy to escape or fight officers.   Right now someone who rapes a child then kills them gets to have most things we do on the outside. They also get free healthcare, paid for the work they do in prison, television, conjugal visits, televisions, free college, free food, not responsibilities and all of this in exchange for sitting in an air conditioned room. What criminals should do is fear our justice system but they don't because it is nothing more than a family reunion for most. Most criminals have it better than our soldiers which is sad.
  11. Here are some pictures of what is in my "get home" bag. The first column has the nitrile gloves at the top goes into the small, easy access pocket on the outside at the top. It has very, very basic first aid items like veterinary wrap, band aids, feminine products, suture kits and finally a broken shell extractor. Column two are the two spare steel magazines which go into the bigger outside pocket on the front. Column three is my blow out kit that will go on my belt if I think I might need it. But when not in use it is in the first big compartment. And under the blow out kit is my "toolkit". Column four is the continuation of column three and another set of nitrile gloves, hearing protection, a Bic brand fire starter :), fingernail clippers and some survival cards. Columns three and four fit into the first big compartment. Column 5 is what goes into the final compartment. More gloves, another tourniquet, more first aid items, spare battery, ink pens, electrical tape and range finder. I did not realize my binoculars were not there until after I took the pictures. I also carry Orajel for a few reasons, it is obviously for any type of tooth injury but it also works on other minor wounds as well that might be a little painful. If I have a deep splinter I generally open it up a little then pack it with Orajel before trying to remove it. Works great on blisters as well. The Lifestraw, fire starter along with the baklava are all stored in the compartment for hydration systems at the very back. The flashlight and knife are on the outside. These are in addition to the other ones I generally carry. I also have a machete I carry as well but it was accidentally left in the truck. This is my blowout kit. It has most things you would need to stabilize all but the more serious wounds. It also has another tourniquet. This is my "tool kit". It has most things I would need to do basic stuff with. In the globes are patches and panty hose. In the upper bag are rubber bands. There is another pen and it is wrapped with duct tape. A Bear brand fire starter. Nut drivers, screwdriver along with bits. 550 cord, AK cleaning kit along with brush, home made Boresnake and a pair of pliers along with an adjustable wrench. And all of that fits nicely into the bag for it. This is an escape card. It has the tools to shim handcuffs, cut tape as well as pick locks. But on top of that everyone should have a handcuff key. This is a survival card. It has fish hooks, a saw, needles, snare locks or spoons for lures, pointed and blunt arrow heads as well as a gig. They are designed to be broken out of the card and used. These are the size of a credit card and are made out of stainless steel. And the whole pack weighs less than 12 pounds. I will say there are a few more things that did not make it into the picture. Heavy duty, as in contractor, trash bags. They can be used for so many things. They can keep your stuff dry or it can collect water. Slit the bottom and the sides and it becomes a poncho. Slide your feet into it when in a sleeping bag and it will keep you so much warmer. You could take two and split them and tape them together to make a shelter. Something else that will probably make it into the bag as well is some short range two way radios. I also have a solar powered cell phone charger that is in the bag as well. And I still have plenty of room for a jacket, poncho or liner or something else to keep me warm at night. And remember this is not a survival bag but a bag to get me home which will almost always be less than 25 miles. So, realistically, lack of food or water should not be an issue. Shelter and staying away from the bad guys is. And this bag is the year around bag, if we need more items because of the weather or some other reason it will get tossed in the vehicle. This is what stays by my side every day, all day. That is an Romanian Draco with a 7.5" barrel. I drilled and tapped the rear trunion for a Stormwerks AR15 style hinge to mount the KAK tube for the Shockwave "brace". The gas system has been tuned to reduce felt recoil and the trigger has been reworked resulting in a two stage trigger that breaks at a crisp 3.5 pounds. The gun itself weighs 7 pounds 13 ounces WITH the 30 round magazine and sling. That is a chopped down Saiga rifle forearm with a sling swivel holding it in place. US Palm grip with a gutted piece of 550 cord between it and the receiver to act as a ambidextrous sling point. The only thing left to do now is open up the rear sight once I get to the range. It is zeroed at 25 yards but I want to confirm at 100 or 200 yards. And the best part is this is a pistol so I can LEGALLY carry it anywhere a HCP holder can carry a pistol. Heck, I could sling it across my back and legally walk around but I would never, ever do that. Just saying that this is just as legal to carry as any other "pistol". I welcome any and all questions or comments.
  12. All bullets have slightly different bearing surface lengths. So you must seat the bullets with longer bearing surfaces a little deeper to clear the throat of the barrel. BTW, been there and dove that dozens of times.
  13. See that people are fleeing Greece by the thousands and heading into Macedonia? Things are getting really bad all over the world.
  14. Did they search the coolers?
  15. They don't scream "sell, sell, sell" because they are in the market as well. If they said that it would probably affect them and their investments. If there is a time to sell they would not announce it until they have sold their own first.
  16. I have had the original Sug brace, the newest version and the Shockwave brace and out of all of the I like the Shockwave the best.
  17. It's definitely been a while. I still need to build my approved 9mm silencer.
  18.   Isn't that trap shooting? I mean they both involve shooting a bird.
  19. What caliber?   I will assume it is going to be a 7.5" 5.56. And while they are great range guns that are fun to shoot they are also very, very limited on their use as a defensive firearm. Energy levels are on par with most hot handgun   First, they are LOUD. And not just a little loud but painful and, for me anyways, it forces my eyes closed because of the muzzle blast. If you ever have to fire one inside a dwelling or, even worse, inside a vehicle it is probably the most miserable gun related thing you have ever done. I will not be around anyone shooting a 7.5" AR unless I have ear plug AND muffs on.   Second, the 5.56 needs barrel length to be effective in a traditional sense. Yes the bullet will damage someone but the damage will likely be very, very limited with a 7.5" barrel compared to even a 10.5" barrel. Ever inch extends the guns useable range.   If you MUST have a 7.5" gun for self defense at least get a twist, or ammunition, that is appropriate for the shorter barrel length if the gun may be used to save a life.   Velocity at the muzzle is already below the threshold for fragmentation so the bullet will NOT fragment no matter how close the "organic target" is. So the only wounding mechanism, other than a small hole, will be the bullet tumbling but only if the twist is slow enough. I would consider 9 twist to be the fastest twist for 7.5" guns. That way the bullets will at least tumble. If the barrel twist is too fast the bullets, because they will not tumble, will act just like a 22lr and will likely pass through.   Velocity with 55 grain bullets is ~2,350 fps which is well below the 2,650 fps most bullets need to fragment. So fragmentation being a mechanism for wounding is out of the picture. The next mechanism for wounding is the bullet tumbling but that will only happen when the barrel's twist rate is slow enough. With a 7 twist there is very little change of the bullet tumbling unless the target you are shooting at is feet deep.   With a 10.5" barrel the bullets will fragment but only out to about 25 yards. 11.5" is good to 25-50 yards. 12.5" is good to about 50-75 yards. 14.5" is good to about 75-100 yards. This is for FRAGMENTATION, not tumbling. So when the military decided to go to a 7 twist they took away the means of inflicting damage by tumbling. So the military is left with a rifle that has a twist too fast for the bullet to tumble and the velocity too low to fragment at anything but CQB distances. No wonder we are hearing reports of bad guys being shot several times and continuing the fight. I have personally seen the results of this when a bad guy was brought in after the had been shot in the hip and thigh area. He was walking on his own and actually had very, very little blood. It was an easily survivable injury despite being shot in an area that should have resulted in a femoral bleed.   But all this is academic at best if you are using quality varmint type rounds like the Hornady TAP rounds or even a quality hunting round would be better than FMJ in a gun with such a short barrel and a fast twist.   I have been considering doing a test but I need a couple of people to help. I can load up some M855 at velocities that simulate a distance of 100, 200 and 300 yards. Then shoot those bullets out of a 7 twist, 9 twist and 12 twist guns into water jugs to test and record the results. So if there is anyone in the Knoxville area who would like to get involved please let me know. To keep things as close to identical as possible I would like the guns to have 16" barrels and prefer ARs.
  20. Yeah, they get addicting. What is addicting to me is trying to figure out what I can Form 1.
  21. That is an unregistered SBR.
  22. Yes, thank you. It is members like you that make sure we all have a place to come together.
  23. I'm waiting for the attempted suicide report that turns out to be someone talking on their cellphone with the gun shaped holder.
