Troopers using trucks to catch people texting
Dolomite_supafly replied to xsubsailor's topic in General Chat
I would treat it like a DUI, especially if there was an accident. More people are getting injured from distracted driving, such as texting, than from drunk driving accidents so it should be treated the same. The choice to do it is no different than the choice to drink. The people they hurt are no less hurt because the other driver was texting and not driving drunk. So it should carry similar penalties. I personally believe the DUI sentencing is often to lenient, especially subsequent offenses. -

I was thinking in my world. In my world I am always a passenger so there is always somebody free to do something. I can see where it would only exacerbate the problem having every other person taking pictures. -

Anything they can do is a great thing. Texting and driving is the new DUI as far as accidents go and we really have not captured all the numbers. I live 20 miles from Knoxville and I bet we see at least five drivers texting as we are heading into or out of town. And at least once a day we are forced to swerve to avoid and accident. The only thing that bothers me more is those that cut the corners in a curve. I one thing they can do is offer a service where you can text a picture of the offender along with a license plate. Maybe send the driver notice of it. They had something similar for people littering but there is a lot more testing than littering going on or at least it is easier to find. Heck, if there is ZERO doubt they are guilty then make the offender pay a fine with a portion of the proceeds going back to the person reporting it. In a perfect world people would be responsible enough to not harm others with their actions. -

The biggest issue I have was they were laughing about the whole thing acting like they were powerless to do anything. I have ZERO issue with killing something that needs to be killed be it for food, survival or even as a trophy, so long as it is done humanely. You don't let any animal suffer a slow miserable death. I am honestly surprised it survived a few hours in the heat under the hood. It is a more alert and active now. Believe it is a boy and is eating well. He went from crazy feral to purring once he got access to food and water. I will post pictures in a minute, it is the cutest little thing.

So my wife went to the post office. And as she was walking in she heard a kitten screaming. She mentioned it and a mail worker said it was in her husbands truck somewhere under the hood. Apparently the kitten has been under the hood for two days as he went to work. They acted like the kitten would eventfully die and quit screaming. Well not with my wife around she made them pop the hood so she could find the kitten. She found it and brought it home. Not sure if we have a new family member yet but we will make sure it never suffers again. How the hell can ANYONE drive around for two days listening to a 2-3 week old kitten screaming? Takes a special kind of sicko to do that. It is safe, sound and in loving arms now.

Alcohol + Handgun: Hypothetical Question
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Alcohol tends to exaggerate most things. Actions, personality as well as emotions. If you are dangerous without alcohol then you are going to be more dangerous with alcohol. And it doesn't really matter what it is you are doing. If a person is a dangerous driver then alcohol will only exaggerate it and the same thing can be said for any other activity you might do while under the influence. Carrying a firearm, mowing your lawn, swimming, and it can even make sex dangerous. -
I buy my ammunition online most times or off of sellers. Last time I bought 7.62x39 locally it was bought from Academy. I could have gotten it cheaper online but I needed it immediately.

And you know the worst part? The person who did it ran for office. That worm could have been a representative making decisions that affect us all. Btw, he ran as a democrat.

What worries me is some officers will start to get really nervous and over react which will only feed into the irrational fears of those calling for the killing of LE. I already went over the statistic but you are more likely to be struck by lightening 82 times than to be shot by an officer, and that is a justified shooting. The odds of being killed by a "bad" cop is so remote it is statistical improbability. We, as a nation, are in a very dark and disgusting place now and I am not sure how one could fix this. I fear we will once again see Americans killing Americans on a much larger scale. And those poor officers are going to get caught in the middle and likely suffer the most if things do go sideways across this once great nation.

I have a question for everyone.
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I store my water in two places, in the ground and in the clouds. Between those two places I will always have water. Plenty of ways to store and source water. Dew on the grass in the morning is about the easiest way to source water if your night time temps and daytime temps swing enough. -
See people carrying that way all the time without any type of holster covering the trigger. At least this way they can at least keep it more secure. And ANYTHING to get someone carrying a firearm is a good thing because the life they save might be your own. It is actually pretty ingenious and I would give it a try if the cost was reasonable. I would combine it with this though before carrying it. http://www.amazon.com/MIC-Holster-Black-17-18/dp/B006VYBAZ8

If you have to ask permission, have to pay for it or if they can be legally taken away they are not a right and are a privilege. Life is not a right for everyone. An inmate on death row can legally have his life taken away so every breath he takes is a privilege. Self defense is the only right that I can think of that cannot be taken away. Yes the tools used for self defense can be taken away but not the act of defending oneself. No one has the right to an object because we have seen time and time again our rulers, and that is exactly what they are, take away objects they do not want those below them to have. I am talking about how things are, not how they should be. We SHOULD have the right to have and do ANYTHING so long as it does not negatively affect someone else's right to do the same thing. Unfortunately that will NEVER happen in this country. Everything that brings someone joy or happiness is regulated by our oligarchy and without THEIR permission we cannot do it. Name anything that brings people happiness and our government regulates or tries to regulate it. Every single day I read about more and more freedoms being regulated away. Eventually we will all be criminals begging our rulers for a taste of freedom and that is exactly what our rulers want, a populace dependent upon the government for life, liberty and happiness.

What ammunition? Some standard velocity or subsonic can sometimes cause the malfunction you describe. Have you swapped the hammer spring? It is part of the recoil system so a heavy hammer spring can work against the gun. How new is the gun? They can sometimes have issues for the first few hundred rounds. I would remove the hammer and put about a 15-20 degree bend in the hammer spring legs towards the hammer tail. This will reduce the upward pressure on the carrier. Or, you can clip one leg off of the hammer spring. Either way they end up being about the same. Also, make sure you oil it pretty well for the first few hundred rounds. After that I would try to run it dry.

It really is that good. Not a lot in there but all the love she adds gives it something you just can't buy.

Mtsu students shoot bb gun at RHS soccer game.
Dolomite_supafly replied to felinesNfreedom's topic in General Chat
The only other reason, which my wife thought of, is perhaps the females at the soccer game were not wearing their burkas and this upset them men. I still believe this was either them checking response or perhaps s dry run. Either way I am sick to my stomach thinking of this. -

Dolomite_supafly replied to felinesNfreedom's topic in General Chat
They are checking response times as well as what units responded. Anyone with 1/2 a brain knows you MUST know your enemy and what their capabilities are. By doing this they now know how many officers are on campus. They also know how long the response will likely be during an attack. They now know likely avenues of approach by LE as well as how many will respond. If I were a betting person I would bet that school will be involved in something a lot more serious at some point. There is absolutely no reason for a couple of middle eastern men to be actively trying to get a response from law enforcement other than preparing for a real attack. The guys who were arrested are likely clean, as far as terrorist ties and criminal record, so they will likely have the charges and bond reduced but that won't matter because they will make bond quickly and likely be involved long before they go to trial. If I had children in that school they would be starting their homeschooling Monday. -
Luke 9511 - Safety Glasses over Glasses
Dolomite_supafly replied to Pete123's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Yes, if you order it they can make any lenses for any frame. Pretty sure the impact resistant lenses have the ANSI Z87.1 rating. I know when I went into to Walmart and asked about the lenses they charged me like $30 extra and the lenses met the ANSI Z87.1 rating. -
Every Walmart I have walked into has had ZQI Turkish, brass cased, boxer primed ammunition that is NATO spec M80 ball. I have seen it from $6.97-$8.97 per 20 round box of 7.62x51. And this is brand new, current production ammunition made by a Turkish defense contractor made to NATO specifications. This is the same manufacturer that sells the M855 spec 5.56 ammunition for $8.97 per 30 round box. Every report I have read regarding the ammunition says it is very good ammunition.

Luke 9511 - Safety Glasses over Glasses
Dolomite_supafly replied to Pete123's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Yeah, they are available with most designs and meet the ANSI Z87.1 standard. I had a set of glasses made for when I went overseas using the polycarbonate lenses that were impact resistant. They were just as good as any other set of glasses I have owned but did have the ballistic protection. You can get bare bones glasses with this protection for very, very cheap but don't expect to find them in any fashion magazine because they are UGLY, but they do work. -
First time for Appendix Carry - Is it safe?
Dolomite_supafly replied to Bassoneer's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I have tried it and for the same reasons you mention I no longer do it. The first time I sat down while appendix carrying I realized that if the gun went off for ANY reason I would likely be dead within minutes. Carrying a firearm is supposed to save your life, not take it, if something bad happens. I applaud those of you that do but I could never do it without being a nervous wreck constantly. I carry just like I have for 25+ years, OWB on my right side. I probably have years of training and practice with the gun in that position so I am reluctant to change. Not saying I won't change but I will say I won't change to appendix carry. One way of carrying that has intrigued me a lot as of late is on my left side at about 10 or 11 in a cross draw type setup. Would make it easier to draw while seated, like in a vehicle, and probably no harder when not in a seated position. It would also be easier for me to conceal it as well but that is a minor concern at best because most people would never notice me carrying on my side. -
The wait is killing me

I think it might be the examiner. Who's name is on the bottom of the approved form? -
If you have to pay for it, get permission to do it or if your fellow man can be take it away it is NOT a God given or natural right. Carrying a firearm is not a God given right, it is a right that our fellow man has decided to allow us to have. Those that gave it to use can just as easily outlaw it and take that right away. The right of self defense, with is a God given or natural right, cannot be taken away. You can be searched 1,000 times for weapons and despite the fact you have no firearm you still have a means to fight even though you do not have a gun and that means to fight back is a God given right that no one can take from you no matter what. As long as a person is breathing and conscience they still have a means to defend themselves. A felon has no right to own a firearm yet he can still defend himself. It is our fellow man that has chosen to take away that felon's right to use of a firearm not God. If owning firearms for self defense is a God given right then why are those in prison not allowed to have firearms. Plenty of evidence to say that the prisons are dangerous places to be where the inmates are attacked regularly. So if there is a much stronger need to defend themselves than we do then why are we all not demanding that those in prison have firearms for self defense? If self defense with a firearm is a God given right then why are we not claiming it is a religious freedom? After all it was OUR God that gave us that right and any infringement is an infringement on our freedom of religion. The first amendment deals with freedom of speech and freedom of religion so why are our rights to use a firearm, that is supposedly a God given right, not protected under the only amendment that specifically mentions religious freedoms. Forget about the second amendment as the justification for firearms ownership, lets use the first amendment so all the antis who use freedom of speech to spread their hate cannot say anything without affecting themselves. Some are making it sound as though they would cower at the feet of their masters the second they do not have a firearm. Me personally I would drown them in my own blood if that is what it took to fight back without a gun. I can assure you that if all I have are hands, feet and my mind I would at least try defend myself. The amendments of the Constitution are rights but those rights are not given to us by the creator they were given to us by our fellow man. And there is in place ways to add, remove or change the amendments. That means it is not a God given right but a privilege given to us by man. Anything written by man is not a God given right, anything that can be changed by man is not a God given right and as I said before if it can be taken away by man it is not a God given right. If carrying a firearm is a God given right then what about those who don't believe in God? Did they suddenly give up their right to self defense using a firearm? And because the right of self defense is a God given right does that mean anyone who does not believe a God, or the popular God, cannot defend themselves? What about those who are in countries where firearms are outlawed? Does that mean the entire country does not believe in God? Of course all of that is crazy talk because we all know the right of self defense is a right EVERYONE has regardless to where they live, who or what they are or what they believe in. Now I wish everyone could have a firearm but not everyone can. But everyone, even those without firearms, has the right to defend themselves. As far as illegals go they should, and do, have the right of self defense because that is a right given to them by the creator. Beyond that I do not believe they are entitled to anything here in the United States if they are here illegally. As far as determining who is a citizen and who is not I believe that one should look at the parents of the person claiming to be a citizen. If one or both parents are US citizens or if one or both parents were born in the US or if one or both parents became naturalized citizens BEFORE the birth then the child born here should be granted citizenship. Now if both parents are here illegally any child born to those here illegally should not be a citizen and should be deported along with the parents.

A standard pistol buffer tube is about as short as you will get with the Sig brace.
