I have carried a gun nearly every day of my adult life. I did it for work as well as for pleasure. I have probably shot in excess of a million rounds of ammunition in my lifetime from various weapon systems and battle rifles. I have trained heavily with ARs and I feel I am extremely proficient with its use. With that being said I walked away from the AR platform because I consider the AK the top fighting rifle in the world and would pick one over ANYTHING out there if I am needing it to save a life. Being an AR guy for the vast majority of my life it took a lot to sell off all my ARs except one. If SHTF and I had to choose an AK, in any caliber, over and AR, in any caliber, I would pick an AK. And the only time you will see me with an AR is when all four of my AKs fail me which will never happen. The most common complaint I hear about AKs is they are inaccurate compared to ARs. Well that is because most people shoot better quality ammunition in the ARs and then compare it to an AK shooting what is, arguably, the worst ammunition for an AK. Accuracy wise both platforms are capable of similar accuracy when the ammunition is similar and the AK will do it in more places and under harsher conditions. Haven't heard anyone bragging about their AR's accuracy when shooting Wolf yet AR owners have no problem saying an AK is inaccurate when the AK shoots Wolf or Tula. Using quality ammunition an AK and AR of similar cost will perform similarly, there is a reason why they are #1 and #2 in world as far as use. The AK is not some range toy but a more than capable fighting rifle. Right now my go to gun is a Romanian gun which is arguably the cheapest AK on the planet right now. And people are now starting to realize the accuracy potential of current production WASRs, even shooting better groups than most ARs with similar ammunition. I will never carry another AR if I have an AK available.

If I were a betting man I would bet every shipment of people includes several members of ISIS or some other terrorist. I have not heard how they are vetting people but if it is like anything else our government does you know that will be screwed up.

And if you have a few more minutes here is one that is a little more in depth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_Qpy0mXg8Y They have been doing the same exact thing for 1,500+ years the only difference is the tools used today.

Ok, the Muslims believe what they are doing is for their God and to get to paradise. And according to their God, and the prophet Muhammad, they are to kill non believers. So unless you can change their religion they will not choose a Kafir over themselves or their God, ever. Because of that I will not trust any of them because of that. It is not like political ideologies that come and go. Muslims have been waging their never ending Jihad against the Kafir since before the Crusades and they will not stop until they reach the end goal which is a 100% Muslim world. BTW, the Crusades were in response to the Muslim aggression not the cause of it. The Muslims were killing non-Muslims long before, and have been ever since, the Crusades. I run a 4 piece brake which is like a KX-3 on my 7.5" AK. If anything needs flash mitigation it is that gun and it reduced the flash substantially as well as making it less painful to shoot because of the muzzle blast. Normally the muzzle blast forces you to close your eyes but not with the 4 piece brake. I ran a KX-3 on a 13" AR and it made a huge difference on it as well. The only thing I do not like about these types of brakes is it does increase felt recoil because it increases the back pressure which increases the bolt speed. If you are going to run one on an AR make sure to also run an adjustable gas block.

I was working in NM once and stopped a guy with a lawnmower in the back. After talking he made a few wrong turns because he asked me for the way to another state, Missouri if I remember correctly. At first we thought he was just really, really drunk but it turned out he was crazy and we figured that out when he said he was going to be delivering an old beat up lawn mower several days drive away. We were able to contact his relatives and get him home but it was crazy trying to figure him out.

Does it fire both at the same time or with each pull of the trugger? I wonder if they are going to make on in 45-70? I read an article where the author had arthritis in his wrist and elbow from shooting a derringer in 444 Marlin. Not interested in buying one, just want to watch the videos.

We looked at them yesterday and I was pretty impressed with them.

I would search around because I have seen them in the sub $250 range before. Here is one $50 cheaper. http://www.wholesalehunter.com/product.asp?productid=11089451 And the search continues. http://www.westernsport.com/category-s/1862.htmhttp://www.westernsport.com/category-s/1862.htm You might be able to buy the super cheap "carbine" kit and then just buy the shorter piston direct from AA. http://www.westernsport.com/Adams-Arms-Carbine-Conversion-Kit-AA-CPS-D-ADA-S-p/aa-cps-d-ada-s.htm

Here is a warning for anyone who cannot seem to get this. I will erase their existence here, every post, every blog entry and even their profile will be nothing more than a figment in someone's imagination. I don't want to be an ass, and trust me when I say I am here to help, unfortunately not everyone is going to feel like they are being helped. Want to know what rule I have banned more people under? I have given people vacations for months for violating this single rule. And I realize that is more than a few words but it breaks down to one word, RESPECT. If you cannot respond to another members post in a respectful way, without attacking, you will be gone. This is the single most important rule we have and is the one rule that is most often violated. And it is a very, very simple rule to follow yet there are some who cannot seem to get it. I don't expect everyone to agree with everyone else. I expect, and encourage, discussion between opposing parties but it will be done in a respectful manner. If a member decides to become disrespectful to other members or to the site themselves they will be gone, period. I understand that we are in stressful times but now is the time for us to come together and not attack each other instead of tearing us apart. People (even some here) are looking for ways to divide us into smaller and smaller groups and I believe this is not by chance. We use all kinds of terms and categories to define us as individuals and that is not going to bring us together. We should all start out with the assumption that everyone else wants to be treated with the same respect that we want to be treated. We should be inviting them and not be attacking those who do not fit in our category because the more allies we have the longer we will be around as gun owners. And that is because we are in stressful times but think about this before you attack another member. The person you are about to attack does at least have one thing in common with you, guns, and we should all strive to look for common ground rather than attack those that you may not agree with. Here is the problem. Some people are so miserable or have such a low self esteem that the ONLY way they can make themselves feel better is to attack others. It makes them feel as though they have some sort of authority over those they are trying to correct for what they feel is the wrong use of a "technical" term. I do have one question, I would like to hear their background that makes them qualified to be able to make the determination whether something is a "clip" or "magazine" especially without even knowing what it is they are talking about. Most "experts" do not need to go around letting everyone else know they are an "expert". I could spend all day, every day, correcting everyone who uses can, suppressor or any of the other terms they use other than "silencer". There is but one person that matters when it comes to silencers and that is Hiram Maxim. He was the first to use the term "silencer" making him the expert. Our government also uses the term "silencer" and it would seem that if anyone is a "expert" on silencers it would be the inventor as well as our government and not some random stranger telling me I must use the word "suppressor" because a "silencer" does not do that. I just let it go because NOTHING good will come of it and honestly what would change if I convinced someone to start using silencer instead of "can" or "suppressor". Our country is on life support, we have millions of Americans who are without a way to support themselves, American children are starving as we send billions to other countries, more veterans are killing themselves everyday than ever before in our country's history, Americans ARE killing each other for no other reason than the color of their skin and our government is not doing anything to fix any of it because of the widespread corruption. And despite being in such dire straights as a country we have nothing better to do than to find the differences to divide us rather than find common ground to unite us. It seems like we are more concerned over whether someone uses HCP or CCW or clip or magazine than the future of this country, ourselves and our children. -

Sounds like maybe someone is not happy to be able to post here on TGO. Or that they feel that us Tennesseans are out to gouge officers. And this is how it begins, and that all too familiar downward spiral. -
The movie Defiance is how I envision a SHTF community away from the population centers.

Legal Insurance for CCW?

Justified or not if you EVER have to stand in front of a judge you really should have counsel, even if frivolous and are sure it will go no where. Best case scenario, without counse, is everything is dropped. Worst case, going to prison for a long time. How much is your freedom worth? -
Yeah, I try to avoid him and his significant other, Joe. Looks like someone gave ok' Harry Reid a good ass whipping, deserving so. I wish the majority of our elected officials would take a similar fall but off the top of the Washington Monument.

I actually considered buying one to make into a sort of more modern Volcanic type pistol, maybe one day.

I have a question for everyone.
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Just a plastic, food safe barrel set under your eves or even out in the open will collect water with ZERO effort. And survival is about economy of motion, do as little as needed to survive. Never empty the barrel and just let is over flow as it rains. You will ALWAYS have at least enough water to survive about a month if you do that. All it would need is disinfected and you can do that with some calcium hypochlorite. CH is nothing more than a dry form of bleach so it will last a lot longer than liquid bleach. Liquid bleach turns into salt water within about a year. But with CH you can store it in a cool, dry place and it will last forever. Mix up some with the rain water to dissolve the CH then pour it back into the barrel and let it set for a few hours before drinking. Just make sure you cannot smell a strong bleach smell, it should be about like a pool or less. Which brings me to where you can buy CH. Pool supply stores sell it as a shock or maintenance supplies but make sure it is CH and not some of the other chemicals they use in pools. Some of it can be very dangerous if you are not careful. Or use something every prepper or survivalist should have which is a way to filter water to remove pathogens. BTW, the military uses CH to make their water potable. And finally the sun will also disinfect the water, as long as it is clear. Place the water in a clear container, it can be plastic or glass, and set it out in the sun. The natural UV light will pass through the containers killing all pathogens in about 8 hours. No need for chemicals, filters or anything else so long as you have time to let the water "cook". I really need to talk to a few neighbors about all of this but I am afraid they are going to think I am a nut case. -
I would seriously look at the Shockwave brace. It is so much nicer than the SB15, SB47 or the SBX, Lighter weight, thinner and just looks better. So far I like my Shockwave the best and I have had all the other braces by Sig.

Crazy mosin prices!
Dolomite_supafly replied to ironsniper1's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
The last time I paid attention to Powell Auction, a local auction company, selling firearms the prices went insane on most. I seen run of the mill Taurus pistols bringing close to $400 before the insane commission and required fees. People loose their mind during an auction and not just gun auctions. Maybe it is a race or a respect thing for being the winner that drives prices but most auctions these days have people over paying. -
Look around before buying. There is one on the market that is about 1/2 the price of the Troy one and is the same.
-
The Shockwave is SUPER light compared to the Sig brace. The Shockwave is also a lot thinner, probably 1/2 as thin as the Sig brace. The Shockwave is hard plastic, not some soft or flimsy stock. And did I mention it is about 1/3 the price of the Sig as well.It shoots so much better than the Sig brace as well. And those statements apply to all of the braces, SB15, SB47 or the SBX. All of those feel like a cheap work around compared to the Shockwave. The Shockwave is probably the best for my AK setup. It sure as hell is better than any Sig product. The Shockwave is an excellent product. If anyone local to me wants to check it out you are more than welcome to. It really is a lot better than anything Sig has made and is evidenced by Sig suing Shockwave because Sig is old news, selling an old product that is not very good at anything.

Troopers using trucks to catch people texting
Dolomite_supafly replied to xsubsailor's topic in General Chat
I say have a reward system for it. If your call leads to a conviction get paid for it. Start handing out 10% of the fines to make a call and the officers would be overwhelmed. I beg it could fund a new unit just to investigate the calls. Give the unit unmarked normal cars and once confirmed pull the offender over. -

I don't want to take anyone out. I just want the same rules and laws to be applied equally to all of our citizens. But as we are seeing more and more the laws are not being enforced fairly across the board. And it is not just some officer texting as he drives but what that represents. It just goes to show that those in power know they can do what we can't and break the law openly knowing they will not be held accountable. And that is the single biggest problem with our country, people are not being held accountable. From the child not being held accountable by his parents to our Commander in Chief openly committing felonies, repeatedly, and not being held accountable because those who would hold him accountable are just as bad.
