This "Gun Oil" Not For Firearms
Dolomite_supafly replied to gun sane's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
And I have been wondering why my guns continue to rust when using this stuff. I guess I have been using it on the wrong gun the whole time. :) In all seriousness I think I have looked at it while in Walmart sporting goods but I never read the back. It is going to be hilarious when I ask the clerk to read me the instructions. -
Why not pull the heads and load quality components?

Cast 45 acp, what am I doing wrong?
Dolomite_supafly replied to MrBrian's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
No, they are generally plated with a copper alloy, same as jacketed bullets. Load them by weight and you will be fine. And most plated bullets are sized the same as jacketed. If you are shaving bullets you need more of a bell. Lee sells a universal tool to bell case mouths. It is under $20 and will ensure the case is belled without expanding the case walls. Open your current sizer to .454". It is cheaper and better than buying a new sizer. I buy all my sizing dies at least .002" under so I can open it up and polish the internal surface. Once polished there is no need to lube your bullets before sizing. If you are crushing 45 ACP brass something is VERY wrong. Maybe a die out of spec or maybe the wrong caliber. I guess it is possible to crush them by not setting up does correctly but it would be hard to do. Are the bullets lubed when you seat deafdogdief? -
2003 Mustang owners I need some transmission removal advice
Dolomite_supafly replied to tercel89's topic in General Chat
I will say this, having the right tools is both easier and safer. Many a people have been injured trying to half ass it. $75 is a lot cheaper than going to the ER. Had a neighbor, who was a professional mechanic, have a transmission fall on his arm while he was replacing it. It crushed his arm to the point his arm is useless and hangs in a sling permanently. He went from an decent guy working six days a week to getting hooked on painkillers and being unable to work. Now he makes 4-5 trips a day to his dealer at the end of the road to get his drugs. He is a year or two behind on his property taxes and is about to loose everything. Problem is his mother, who is OLD, and a few other relatives put their property in his name when he was doing well so they are also at risk. It is like three families that will be homeless before too much longer because he had a transmission fall on him. I say this to impress upon you to be safe no matter what you do. -
My get home bag

I wasn't trying to debate either, just stating why I did what. I do like your idea about the aluminum foil and will pack some in with my stuff. And honestly eating utensils hadn't even crossed my mind. -

Survival is more about your knowledge and attitude than the gear you have. You can have all the gear in the world but if you do not know how to use it or think you are going to die then you will. But if you have the skills and the will to survive you generally will. Look at all the indigenous people in the world that, literally, have no survival gear and are able to survive and even thrive the some of the most inhospitable places on the planet. -

How does it compare to the trigger I did for you? -
Where can I get, and what are they called?

Home Depot sells Velcro straps designed to bundle wires together. They should work perfectly. If not Walmart sells huge packs of Velcro in various sizes, widths and lengths. -
Buy some Wolf or Tula SRM primers. I have tried every kind of primer imaginable and these are the only ones to reduce my SD to single digits. I have SD numbers that are 2 or less.

We need to set up some regional meet and greets. Way too many members I have not met in my area.

I run an .035 wall on my 30 caliber silencer. It is built a little different than most and doesn't have the blow back of other silencers. -

I have thought about using VSRs but they would require some spacers. I prefer to make my baffles with their own skirt. At one point I also considered using lightweight valve springs as spacers and allowed the baffles to float and move. My thinking was that it would let baffles move to accommodate the extra pressure until the gasses cooled. But then I realized how dirty these things can get, especially with how often I use them. I try not to shoot anything without a silencer now. -

I plan on keeping my at the original OD because it will see some time on my shorty AKs. VSR? -
Don't worry about what the "experts" at ARFCOM are saying. For 99% of the users out there these kits are just fine. And for the price if you break a part or two who cares but I suspect you will not have any issues unless you are a really heavy user.

ATF 41P Update

But honestly I think it will just be another extension and maybe be used as a parting shot. -
ATF 41P Update

They are supposedly going to make a decision in December. The decision could be to extend it again or pass it or even decide not to do it. -
Just so everyone else knows. I have never seen a real Russian triangle stock that is fixed. All of them are folding and require a new trunion to use. A "Krinkov" triangle stock will not bolt to a standard fixed stock rear trunion. Also, the Russian triangle stocks are ALWAYS metal and never polymer.

Yeah, the "maps" icon on most Apple products is all I use anymore. I have tried all of the free ones and maps is the easiest to use.

And one more thing. Do not assume that just because someone is banned does not always mean they did anything wrong, especially if it is not readily apparent why they were banned. Yes that is the case 99% of the time but not always. Most times it is quietly but sometimes those that are leaving feel the need to tell us why and we appreciate it because it helps us become better at running the board. We have had plenty of members who feel TGO is not to their individual likes and desires so they leave, happens every day. And when they leave I feel bad that the place I call home was not to their liking but it does happen. You won't find me posting in the DU forum just like some people won't be posting on TGO. I take everything a member has to say very seriously. And my top priority is the members here, all members, and if anyone doubts that I am not sure how to respond.
