Almost as funny as Ogel, Elrod and Baril commercials here in Knoxville. Here are a bunch of funny ones: https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Ogle,+Elrod+%26+Baril&tbm=vid

When I first started I used factory loaded ammunition to set up my dies. I would loosen the bullet seater stem and back it out. I would also loosen the die itself. Then I put a factory loaded round into the shell holder and slowly tighten down the die until it hits a hard stop then I lock it down. Next I screw the seater in until it hard stops then lock it down. This should at least produce SAAMI spec ammunition. You might need to adjust the seater but the die itself should be good. Some chambers do not have the proper throat and because of this you might need to seat bullets deeper. Do not worry too much about OAL, either long or short, as long as it will feed. With SWC bullets you might have to go deeper than expected because of the throat issue.

I find it very hard to believe that the mini can filter 100K gallons of water. I have filters that are much, much larger that will not filter 1/10th of that without becoming clogged. I tend to avoid products who makers make outrageous claims and being able to filter 100K gallons of water with a $15 filter is an outrageous claim.

Looks like their A Max bullet. -
That is the everyday price at Bass Pro. Add in the military discount and you basically get it tax free.

I will try to get a few pictures of my 7.5" AK. I have Tula, Wolf and a few other brands to shoot. I will says the concussion is what I would call substantial and the flash is monstrous. Definitely not fun to shoot without foam ear plugs AND muffs. -

The most enjoyable part for me is testing. When you find the magic combination that YOU made it is pretty very satisfying. Also getting some knowledge along the way. -
Any way to verify military record?

And be forewarned that when she doesn't get what she wants she WILL go on the offensive. I was going to contact her to try to catch her in a lie but after seeing her facebook page I realized she is too involved with that to let anyone try to make her lies public. I suspect part of the problem is also substance abuse which makes any mental problems she might have even worse. -

Its an expired ID, means nothing. If she was still entitled to ANYTHING she would have a current ID card. If she was a veteran she would also have a veterans card WITH her photo on it. Another HUGE clue is why do you make a copy as proof when you have the actual ID as proof? And finally if she has the ID why is there a need to carry around a folded up copy like most copies of IDs when they are carried. I bet someone here has access to the DEERs enrollment system and can verify her claims. When I was in we would get people trying to do the same. And she does have an active and national guard record for the state of Tennessee on military.com. They used to verify whether the record was a DoD record or a record where someone registered but apparently they no longer validate people. So if you see the records on military.com do not believe them. I was medically discharged from the military so if anyone wants to verify I can. No, I will not post ANY copy on the internet because wasteoids like this are looking for more documentation. Because I was disabled and medically discharged I can verify the process she says she went through to be medically discharged. Mine took three years with several appeals because mine was finalized. And if she was medically discharged without reaching her retirement she would have received a lump sum disability payment from the military as an exit severance package. Then she should apply to the IRS to receive a lump sum return of the taxes taken out of the disability payment. Pretty sure the disability payment is calculated like this, time in service in months x base pay x % of disability awarded by the medical board. Under certain circumstances if they believe there is a chance the service member might be able to return to duty at some point they will award a 50% rating (similar to retirement) that will be reevaluated later to determine if they may reenter the service. But that might not mean anything either because if her active duty husband went through it she would know the process. Did she say she was AA or Pathfinder somewhere? That would be the biggest clue she is a scammer if it is. -

Spread the word to anyone who might come in contact with her. She is taking money and resources away from our veterans. It sounds like she is early on in the lying process and calling her out now might actually might make her change her ways. As it goes on they get drunk on all the attention and money which only emboldens them to continue. Her doing this will cause several things. First it cheapens the sacrifices our veterans have made, people are going to give to her money instead of a real veteran and it will encourage others to do the same thing. -

It is public record and is very easy to obtain. I will post it in the AM. -
Not sure if you are aware but you do not have to have a HCP to purchase or carry a handgun in your vehicle now. Yu do need one if you are carrying one on your person outside of a vehicle.

is it a good or bad idea to let a 14 year old visit her mom in jail?
Dolomite_supafly replied to 3600's topic in General Chat
They will not discuss how the jail works while you are there visiting an inmate. -
There are several places to shoot in the Knoxville area. You have Volunteer Rifle and Pistol Clue but it is probably the worst place to go. Not because of the facilities but because of the staff that works there as well as some of the other customers. The RSOs are overbearing, control freaks that seem to look for ways to make your visit miserable. They have told people to be quiet because people are trying to shoot as if gunshots were quiet. They will steal your brass if given the chance. They will rummage through your bags when you are not looking. I caught one going through my bag and asked what he was doing. He said he had to inspect my bad to see what I brought to the range. After I got home I realized I was missing a set of back up iron sights that were in my bag. And they turn people away and refuse to allow them to shoot if you have something they personally do not like. They told one person he could not shoot a Mosin Nagant, a bolt action rifle with a lot of recoil, with a muzzle brake. They have told people that a Sig Brace makes a gun an illegal SBR and would not allow them on the range. They do not allow ANY NFA items to be used on the range. Well some do and some don't but you do not know which way it will go until you have already paid and got to the range itself. They have a skeet/trap range, a benchrest range and a pistol range but most days everything but the benchrest range is closed. The benchrest range is just that, you shoot from a bench. No standing is allowed, no practicing your draw is allowed and you cannot shoot faster than one shot per second. And be prepared for other customers to try to fondle your crap. It costs 5.50 for two hours. They are also closed one weekend a month for training and the pistol range is generally booked every weekend for HCP classes. Another place, the best IMHO, is Norris range in Norris Tennessee which is about 20-30 minutes from Knoxville. It has no RSOs so anything goes as long as you are being safe. You can shoot anything and everything there expect machine guns. Other members will also keep an eye out for safety related issues and call people on it. They have a 200 yard range with target boards at 50, ~123 and 200 yards. They also have two shorter "pistol" ranges. It costs $40 per year and you get a key for access to the range. It has covered benches, a port-a-potty and is a great place to just hang out with other shooters. It does allow you to shoot steel targets. The second best place in Knoxville is the Moose Lodge off of Callahan drive in Knoxville. It has a short pistol range and a 100 yard rifle range that can be stretched to about 140 yards if you walk into the woods. It costs $75 per year and give you access to everything at the lodge. They have weekly dinners for members, they have a members only pool, a golf putting green to practice as well as decent restrooms. The range itself is a block building with the front opening towards the range. It is a little louder than the other ranges but it is also the most protected from the elements. It does not allow you to shoot steel targets. Those are probably the best ranges in the Knoxville area. In Oak Ridge, which is about 20-30 minutes from Knoxville there is ORSA. It is the longest range within a few hours of Knoxville. It has a 1,000 yard range as well as shorter ranges. It is more expensive than the other ranges but does offer you the ability to stretch your legs with your guns. And finally. If, when, you decide to move to Tennessee act like you suffered from amnesia. Forget EVERYTHING about California and do not try to change our little slice of heaven into the California you miss. We are getting a lot of people from liberal safe havens and I am worried Tennessee will become one as well. I would much rather piss off someone so badly they refuse to come to Tennessee than take a chance on that someone trying to change Tennessee into a liberal state.

Save Monkeyman ... Or not ... (Classic Car Advice)
Dolomite_supafly replied to MrsMonkeyMan2500's topic in General Chat
If it is paid for and is a running driving vehicle, regardless of how it looks, I would keep it unless you have another vehicle that is paid off and runs. You never know what is going to happen in the future and if something does happen and you loose the ability to pay for your other vehicles at least you will have a way to get around. And with it being a 4wd it makes that even more important as we start to come into colder weather. A few more things. Is this the only vehicle you have that can get you out of where you live during bad weather conditions? If so I would keep it. Never know when an emergency happens and the ability to get to the hospital, when ambulances can't, is also something to consider. We never thought the weather would be an issue for us but when our grand daughter came up to visit she got sick, very sick, and spent 4 days in Children's Hospital. This was last year when we got a lot of snow. They had a little Honda Accord that was all but useless for getting out of the road we live on. Prior to that my wife wanted to buy some tire chains. I told her it was wasted money but she bought them anyway. Well two days later we used those chains on our truck to get our grand daughter to the main road where they could get her to the hospital. I can't even imagine what might have happened had we not had those chains. So the ability to be mobile in bad weather is a must because accidents do happen, people do get sick and if the weather is bad enough the ambulances might not be able to save the day. You guys already have an attachment to it and if you have children they too will see it as a memory of both of you as well. I am not sure if you have children but if you do I would also consider them in this. They will have fun, like all teenagers, driving around in an old, temperamental off road vehicle. Heck, if the kids are old enough turn the truck's restoration into a family project. Some of my best memories were working on cars with close friends when I was a teenager. I would keep it, especially if you are not needing to sell it and will just be squirreling the money away. That 4wd vehicle will be more important than some money in a savings account. -

So I am thinking about starting a TGO Hall of Shame
Dolomite_supafly replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
I ask everyone I come into contact with, especially selling something, if they are a member of TGO. I haven't met any random person that has been a member here but I have been contacted by a few people through Armslist or GoC who said they were members of TGO. They have at least said who they are or at least I assume so. Had one guy back out of a deal after we exchanged TGO usernames. I had another guy local to me say I banned him from here, we sent a few more emails back and forth talking about life then we never contacted each other again. So there are plenty of times when the feedback or even their posts here will help you feel out a potential buyer/seller if they are a member here. Even before I sell to anyone new to TGO I go back and read a few posts to get a feel for them. Had a few members, now banned, who I would have NEVER sold a firearm to based solely on their posts. And everything starts with the TGO username. -
They have deciphered some stuff now that it has had a few days. They have encoded the GPS coordinates to the White House as well as the following encrypted message: We got to have some crypto guys here.

Dolomite_supafly replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
Oh we do ban them but I dare anyone to find someone who is banned who has a negative review. All that I have banned still have their positive feedback. And why would that matter for someone who is banned from TGO? Because this is a local board you WILL meet people from TGO if you sell stuff. My last sell-a-thon I did I had several members contact me through my email. One would not give me his screen name even though he said he was a member. Probably because he was banned. The others gave me their screen name and I looked them up here before dealing with them. And some people do not get banned for issues in the classifieds. A person could get banned for making off color remarks and still be a great person to deal with.
