  1. We are square, Got my ammo and in free. Dolomite
  2. Now the anti's are going to go crazy over this high powered, bolt action, anti material rifle that is capable of repeated fire. The biggest indicator that this is only going to be used for pure evil is its black color, obviously destroying items that are critical to the nations well safety can only be done by rifles that are black. It also appears that through the use of readily available materials it can be easily constructed. I am not positive but it appears as though the projectiles exceed .5" in diameter, if so it my need to be registered as a destructive device. But obviously this dangerous, psychotic person who assembled this DD is not worried about registering it. Legos must be evil:D Dolomite
  3. Not crazy. When you get a quality setup you are going to have a lot less problems than most. The 650 is a great progessive from everything I have read and been told. Dolomtie
  4. What I see happeneing is the BP agent being thrown in jail to appease the Mexican government. There were two other BP agents that until recently spent some time in jail when the shooting should have been justified. Dolomite
  5. Personally, I don't care what the sign looked like I respected the property owner's wishes, after all it is their property. If the sign was within or not within the standard it was still their wishes that I don't carry on their property so I wouldn't as a matter of respect for their property. Dolomite
  6. If he comes through with his promise it will be replacement ammo and the free entrance coupons. Dolomite
  7. "Free" as in it was going to cost me nothing, nada, zilch to get in. Dolomite
  8. My coupons were to get in for free. I appreciate it though. Dolomite
  9. All is good, no complaints and Rex is a great guy. Dolomite
  10. I will be there, not sure on the day yet but definitely going to be there. Dolomite
  11. About the only ammo I would worry about would be rimfire. Even rimfire may not be bad depending on how it got wet. I have tons of loaded rimfire ammunition that has fallen through the cracks under my porch. One day I went under there and grabbed as many as I could find. Most have been there for 2+ years. I loaded them and better than 75% fired. It gets wet under there regularly, not stading water wets but definitely not anywhere close to being dry. Centerfire I would not worry about unless it sat under water for a very, very long time. The floods in Nashville wouldn't have been long enough for me to worry about centerfire ammunition. Dolomite
  12. Magpul are indeed innovators and I believe they have done more for the tactical firearms industry than any other manufacturer out there. The only problem I have is that the aluminum mags work and work well. They have for decades and for thousands of troops in a miriad of enviroments. I personally don't understand the big push by everyone to buy plastic mags when the aluminum ones work and are cheaper. Maybe I just need to drink some of the koolaid to see how it tastes. Just me Dolomite
  13. I would be suspect of anyone who flaunts themselves as SEAL, sniper, etc. If the range master is throwing it out over and over again I would be very suspitious of his claims. Dolomite
  14. Link please I have been in the market and this might be the nudge I need. Dolomite
  15. None at all. As a matter of fact I still haven't received what I was promised by Rex, the owner of RK Shows. I left a message for him to call but I am begining to wonder if he was just telling me what I wanted to hear. Dolomite
  16. While there I saw a guy selling an ACOG for $750. Problem was it was 1x and had batteries for the red dot. I smiled and jokingly told him that I didn't know Trijicon made ACOG's that took batteries, I did of course. His response that it was an early one that used batteries. He went on to saw he bought it a long time ago and that it was in fact a real ACOG. I kind of laughed and said they never made a battery operated ACOG nor did the make a 1x red dot ACOG. He was adament about the fact it was a real Trijicon product, which it wasn't. Now maybe he got screwed and is trying to recoup some of his loses but I think it ought to be criminal for people to pass of clones as the real deal. Problem with this is someone going to plop down a ton of their hard earned money for a ACLONE that isn't worth $100. I know you should research but some people accept what people say as the truth. Other than that it was a typical show just on a smaller scale. No real deals and numerous outrageously priced items. I normally wouldn't have went to such a small show but I was trying to sell my Mossberg 590. Dolomite
  17. I am not a hunter and have not hunted for sport since 2001. With that being said I would not mind hunting hogs. Mostly because of how destructive they have become to crops. They are so widespread now that they probably do affect the prices we pay. Not me but fun to watch: This guy hangs out on another board I am a member of. He does this in his bare feet. Dolomite
  18. The ones I looked at appeared to have the slide made out of something other than steel. If they are not steel then you will not be able to reblue them. If they are aluminum then you could use Aluminum Black but that isn't very durable or leave it polished but then you would need something to keep it from oxidizing. Duracoat is a decent coating. I have used Brownells Gunkote in the aerosol can with great success. It also wears really well. Dolomite
  19. I just want to make a correction. I just went out and checked my dies again. Turns out all my pistol dies are carbide. I thought a few sets that I often use weren't but it turns out those are. Sorry for the confusion and thanks I Like Pie for raising my curiosity. Dolomite
  20. Call Predator and ask for Jim to talk about coatings. He is the one who does 90% of the coating and is a great guy to talk to. If he isn't available then call back. He can also talk to you about builds, 1911's, bolt gun and AR's. If Jim can't answer your questions he will likely have you talk to Bob. You might have to call back because Bob is ALWAYS busy on the lathes and can't easily walk away. He can work magic on most things that come into their shop. He has done a lot for me over the years and everything has always been great. It does sound like one person at Predator is causing all the problems because both Jim and Bob are always courteous to the customers when I have been there. Dolomite
  21. Something I can say about one of the TWRA ranges I used to frequent. They do have some power trippy people but nothing out of hand and yes some of their policies make you say "WTF". But I don't mind if the RSO's micromanage me ,even though I do have an extensive amount of training as well as practical firearm use, because I know they are micromanaging the guy sitting next to me as well. That is the guy who may not know his ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to firearm safety. Those are the ones I worry about because if the RSO's weren't checking my actions they wouldn't be checking the other guys actions either and that is when someone gets hurt. I did see something that was very disturbing though. The brass that is tossed in the bucket at the range I frequent is supposed to go to the Boy Scouts so they can recycle it to support them. I was told that early on by a few different RSO's on a few different occassions when I asked about the brass. The disturbing thing I saw was one of the RSO's bringing a big box of brass into a local gun shop and trading it for goods/services. I know it came from the range because I was sitting there when walked in and said he said "this is what we got at the range today" or something similar. He was still in the same clothes that he was in when I was at the range a few hours earlier. I have seen this same RSO do the same thing on a couple of different occasions. I have seen other RSO's picking up brass and putting it in their pockets, a lot of them do that. They then sweep up the steel cased stuff or stuff that they don't want and put it in the recycle bucket for the Boy Scouts. I witnessed a RSO make a homemade silencer. He asked for my soda bottle when I was done. He slipped it over the barrel of a .22 then duct taped the crap out of it. He fired a few rounds to test it. This was done in front of a small crowd and the RSO had no idea who half these people were. I have had a few run ins with the overzealous RSO's but I really don't mind it as long as they are doing the same with others who are breaking the rules. Dolomite
  22. Where they busy? If not it must have been Mike you spoke to. He comes across as being rude or upset with customers, not really sure why he is that way but maybe it is just the way he is. Unfortunately I have heard this from a few people who have interacted with Mike and all were not happy about it, like you. Honestly, I think the place would have a lot more customers if Mike didn't try to help customers. It might just be his personality but with that being said know how you are and try to minimize it, especially when dealing with the people who pay the bills. Bob is a great guy who definintely knows what he is doing although he doesn't do any of the coating. Jim is the one who does most of the coating and he does a phenominal job. I almost swore the place off as well over how Mike acted towards me as well as most people. Fortunately a few other people in the shop are decent enough for me to stay a customer. The best thing I did was to only talk business with Bob. Dolomite
  23. I have a current civillian and my "official" one expired last year. While healing from my helo accident the official one expired. I have been told by doctors that I will never work overseas again and for that reason I will never have another official one. I also had a CAC card issued for my work. Both the CAC card and the official passport were turned in once it was realized I am out of the fight. Dolomtie
  24. Basically I would break it down like this. If you like to tinker and modify your guns get the 10/22 If you generally leave theings alone get the Marlin. The 10/22 takes time and money to get it to shoot as well as the Marlin but you can't really change anything with the Marlin. You can literally change every part on a 10/22 without having to pay a smith to do it. Dolomite
  25. I was stationed at WSMR in NM in the early 90's. The military does a lot of testing and proof of concept there. While there I was part of the range security detail while they were testing a chemical laser. The laser itself was amazing, I was close to where they fired it from and you heard nothing but an impact on target. The targeting system though had issues because after the first firing, which was WAY off target, one of the launch complex people asked us to stay off the radios because it was affecting the targeting. I do remember big concerns over the chemicals because they were VERY lethal. Some of the stuff I seen there was absolutely amazing and other stuff just made you think WTF. Had rockets that impacted White Sands Natiional Monument. Had some that were supposed to cut the motor before impact but didn't and struck the target helo. The biggest snafu I witnessed is when a two stage rocket was launched. After the first stage broke away it fell on the lauch complex itself injuring several people inside the building. It took forever to fall so I kow it was moving as fast as it possible could. It would seem with all the geniuses working there they would have thought of this before. Dolomite
