My wife has pretty good insurance. No caps, low co-pays, 80% coverage with standard rate co-pays for emergency room visits and office visits. It is very good insurance on paper (we have not used it yet). The only problem is they will only write the policy for a set amount of time. The longest is 6 months before you need to renew again. So it is possible you could be dropped if you have a long term illness or injury but if that happens we will just get enrolled in Obamacare until everything is back to normal. Right now we are waiting for their new ACA policies to be approved. They will be a little more expensive but they will also let you keep the coverage as long as you are paying the premiums. The best part is her coverage only costs us $87 a month and you do not have to go through an exam, answer any questions or anything other than sign and pay. The only problem is it is not ACA approved. Because of that some might have to pay the fine but my wife is exempt.

Man's best friend, asset or liability?
Dolomite_supafly replied to Rhodewarrior's topic in Survival and Preparedness
We have two dogs and both have their own individual traits that will make them useful. Our female pit bull is extremely alert to her surroundings. She will bark if there is anything out of the ordinary and this normally gets Gus the bulldog moving. Gus is a bulldog, not English but an Alapaha bulldog, and weighs 100 pounds. He rarely barks but when he does he sounds like he is a 500 pound spawn of Satan but more importantly he ACTS like a 500 pound spawn of Satan when he need to. I also have zero doubts he will give his life to save mine. As long as we are around and not under duress he is a calm, loveable dog towards anyone else. I can guarantee that anyone hearing Gus would not want to meet him. -
Someone owes me 2:45 of my life back. Not sure how I am going to collect but I am sure it will be "neat" to see.

He was a fireman and made it sound like he could not afford to take them on, at least not when I talked to him. People get screwed every day by someone who is bigger or stronger. Happened to him and it forced him to start making his own scopes. -
I hope I am wrong but what is going to happen is we are all going to stand by our convictions and disqualify every candidate until we are only left with one choice. And because that is not the one that is nominated we will just stay home that way we can say we can't be blamed for Hillary. Heard that one, right after Obama won a guy said we can't blame him for it because he didn't vote. But I will be different. I will vote for anyone EXCEPT Christie. If the Republican party's best is Christie I am at a loss for what to say. We are being attacked on all fronts right now because we could not come together to elect ANYONE other than Obama. We let him get elected not once, but twice and I bet if he could run again he would win again. My only hope that we can get behind the person who is opposing Hillary and even if it is Christie I will vote for him to keep Hillary out. Hillary has said gun owners are terrorists so imagine how her terms will be for us and especially those of us who are vets. And if you are not a minority there is another check mark next to your name on the list.

Trijicon has dropped a bomb on Aimpoint...

I know a guy. I have bought optics from him as well as talk to him about the patent process as he had several. We have talked about a half dozen times. He liked guns and scopes and I liked guns and scopes so we normally spent some time on the phone. He was a fireman and because I had done business with him I trusted what he was saying. I will say the last time I talked to him was probably six years ago so who knows maybe what he told me then is not true today, a lot can change in six years. Anyways, one of his patents was for a horseshoe reticle inside a scope. He was unable to manufacture scopes himself so he went to several scope makers with the reticle. All but one, Burris, turned down his offer to license his reticle. Later several manufacturers began making scopes with the horseshoe reticle like he had shown them. He went to Trijicon and offered to license it to them and he said Trijicon basically laughed him off the property. Knowing he wasn't going to get anything more out of the various manufactures he began making his own scopes with the horse shoe reticle. Pretty sure he also said he also holds, or held, the patent for the sling plate for use with slings on ARs. -

They can keep it, not because I would not like it but because of business practices. Never have owned one and never will. -

If you can find it Vihtavouri has some amazing powders. Most people assume 147 grain bullets are subsonic but VV has a standard pressure recipe to push 147's to 1,200 fps. I carried it for a while because it was a stout little loud. It is 6.8 grains of 3N38 and should give you 1,200 fps. I chronographed my load of 6.7 grains and it was right under 1,200 fps so it is a legit load. -
It will happen guys.

Yeah. I have often debated on making a break for it without showing my receipt at Sam's. Or maybe I will hand them a receipt from Starbucks or Target. -

http://ballisticapp.com/ It is what I have used for at least 6 years and it has never let me down. Even has a button to upload current weather data and makes corrections on the fly. Hit the atmosphere button, chronograph your gun input your velocity and from that point forward all you have to do is hit the atmosphere button where ever or whenever you shoot and it will make sure your trajectory is spot on. Even lets you put in multiple wind directions and strengths on the same flight path for times when you know the wind is going several directions at the same time at different distances. If ANYONE is looking for a ballistic computer I would STRONGLY recommend Ballistic AE. BTW, I also one Knights Armament Bullet Flight and it is awful compared to the Ballistic AE program. I have found that even when the data is input correctly the solutions rarely work. I have input the same exact info into BAE and BF and get wildly different solutions. Then I go shoot and so far BAE has been perfect, Bullet Flight not so much. And the ease of use is so much nicer with BAE. The only down side is if you are not an IOS user you cannot get it.

Accidental shooting at Florida Cracker Barrel

I was shot in the leg when a 1911 fell to the ground INSIDE the holster. It was inside one of those military flap style holsters. It was not me nor my gun that shot me. After the gun went off I did not realize I had been shot. As I walked around looking for bullet holes in the station I noticed my leg was numb. I though the bullet might have hit the heal of my boot and numbed my foot up. I looked down and saw white stuff hanging out of the side of the boot. I told my supervisor that I think I know where the bullet was. He asked where and I said my leg. They immediately removed the boot and applied a dressing as we waited for an ambulance. Honestly, it was at the end of my shift and I would have rather gone back home than head the hospital. It was a in and out wound that looked like a cigar burn. Never really hurt and never really bled until the doctors got involved. BTW, the white stuff hanging out of my boot was my sock. The whole time it felt like a sore or pulled muscle. They handed me some crutches and said use them. I used them all the way out the hospital then dumped them before heading to the bar. They told me to take it easy but I was back running the following week. I would go for a run then have to stop by the clinic to have the dressing changed because running caused it to bleed some. But through the entire process it just felt like I had worked out too hard and was sore. I still have very little feeling from the gunshot wound down the front of my leg. -

We will see a war on our soil again, no way it would not happen. It is just a matter of when but I believe we are getting very close. And it is just not our country but the entire world. Find me a country that has not been in some sort of military fray in the last 10 years. The vast majority of the countries on this planet are dealing with terrorism or the muslim invaders attacking the countries internally. We have been largely devoid of the type of protests and antics these types pull in the EU but that will someday change as well. They have done it in every other country so they know exactly what they are doing and they will do it here. On top of that threat we have the threat of our own government attacking us. They are calling gun owners terrorists and feel like the veterans they are a threat. Well you know what, they are and especially so when they are not treated like the patriots they are. At some point something does have to give because we cannot keep going like we are and hope to survive as a country. But make no mistake there will be US blood shed at some point in our future. -
When people start loosing their family members because of some bureaucrat they will start to wake up. And for now it is just fines. But maybe it will go from a civil penalty to a criminal penalty, especially now with such a shortfall. Maybe if that happens it will wake everyone up to what is going on. And when they can't take anything else they will take your freedom.

Not surprising as the dems wanted you to pay taxes on things you owned. They would assess your house and determine it would rent for X amount then X becomes income because you are not renting. Not to far of a stretch either as Europe has been doing it for a very long time. The week leading up to the assessments in Germany you could find all kinds of furniture and other stuff sitting on the curb to be tossed out.

Of the ones mentioned I would pick Reid. I would also suggest you get a hold of Cruel Hand Luke. He supports this forum by being a vendor. He also regularly passes along his knowledge on the forum as well.

I would have laughed my ass off at them. My only concern is whether the diaper changing station will hold an adult. Halloween brings out the crazies and only gets multiplied with a full moon like we had. I think people's craziness waxes and wanes based on the moon cycles like the ocean. Our bodies are mostly water so why not.

Yeah, I get to watch the 1am showing of Cheaters, twice. Qatar is also a terrorist safe haven. Plenty of groups are setting up shop there because Qatar is a terrorist friendly country. Qatar accommodates and funds terror groups such as Hamas, IS, and al Qaeda, while we simultaneously give Qatar all kinds of U.S. arms. It is also believed a lot of those U.S. arms are being given to our enemies by Qatar.

I have a question for everyone.
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Survival and Preparedness
We have had guinea fowl before and really liked them. The only thing I did not like is they like to hide their eggs but with enough chickens you do not need to collect guinea eggs. Guinea only have two modes, alert and make as much noise as you can and the wander mode where they sound like a child on a tricycle with a squeaky wheel. I would set things in the yard to see if they would notice and almost always they would. Another thing that was super funny was when a bird flew over head. All of them would freeze in unison then cock their heads sideways so they could watch the bird above. We gave an entire flock of birds, chickens, guinea fowl and turkey as we were figuring out our exit strategy after my brother's last interaction with me. -

My wife and I have decided to start buying up solar panels as we can afford them. Eventually we will have everything we need to get off the grid completely. We might also find a wind generator as we live on the side of a mountain that constantly has winds blowing. We are also going to put in gardens and buy birds this spring. I cannot wait to have a bunch of guinea fowl, they are the worlds best watch dogs. -
Didn't he just move to Yemen? Isn't Yemen a country that supports terrorism? I guess they saw so much potential in his abilities that Al Qaeda snatched him up. I do not care what anyone says, this boy's actions were not spontaneous and were orchestrated to illicit a certain response then use that response to further an agenda. He was offered scholarships from all kinds of universities here yet he goes to Yemen.
