As I said Bud's did everything they could to make things right with me but in the end it was Taurus' oversight that screwed us both. I hold no ill will towards Bud's now that I have everything coming together. Taurus on the other hand will not see one red cent of my money again. I doubt my next order from Bud's will be this bothersome. If and when I order from them I will only talk to one specific person within Bud's that was extremely helpful during all of this. Dolomite

So in the end I decided just to buy the sights that were supposed to come on the pistol. I called Taurus and was told they would try to get the replacement sights here within 2 weeks, putting the whole ordeal over a month. And that would be for regular sights and not the tritium sights that were supposed to be on the pistol. In my eyes this way too long for them to fix something so simple. I got the correct tritium Novaks for $63 shipped and they should be here by Tuesday which I will be happy about. I am wondering what is going to go wrong now because it can't be this easy. Bud's Gun Shup, the distributor, did all they could to make things right but in the end Taurus screwed us both. I can't really blame Bud's for the messed up pistol but I do hold them responsible for not checking the second pistol. I will probably order from them again but it will be a while before I do. That is great, it isn't that far for me to go. I can definitely use a mix of colors for different projects. He didn't by chance have any Gunkote did he? That is my preferred coating as I have used it dozens of times without any problems as long as you do the right prep. These are the reason I did not want to ship it to Taurus to install a sight. It would have taken months and cost a lot more than I wanted. Also, the gun was test fired. It had a bit of residue but not like the first one they shipped. Also, the front sight dovetail had a sight in it at one point because you could see the wear marks from the set screw. Ok, so I go to pick up the replacement gun. It too is missing the front sight. I call Bud's and begin speaking then get transferred to voicemail after waiting about 15 minutes on hold. I leave a message and call back. This time I tell the person to not put me through to voicemail. He then transferes me to another person in returns. I explain that this is the second pistol I have ordered that has the front sight missing. He appologizes and says I need to return it for a replacement with a front sight. I explain to him that I was told that this pistol would be inspected before it shipped to make sure it was fine. He again appologizes but says there is nothing he can do other than get the pistol back and get a replacement sent out. I told him this was my second trip to my FFL and I didn't want to make another 45 minute trip because of a problem on his end. I understand the first screw up but no the second. So he said he would personally inspect the replacement handgun with me on the phone. I wait a few minutes and he came back on the phone angry, but not at me. He said he needed to call Taurus. I told him they did not have the tritium sights to match the rears on the pistol. I told him without having tritium fronts then having tritium rears are useless. He said he wasn't calling about just my pistol to find out about sights. He went on to say he just received a $400,000 shipment of pistols from Taurus and all the ones he checked were missing the front sights, not just my model. He said he checked quite a few and all were the same, new but without front sights. He places me on hold. Once he gets back on the phone with me he said we have replacement sights coming to you for no charge but they are not going to be the tritium sights because Taurus doesn't have any. He said Taurus told him that more than likely my pistol was a special run. This is better than returning the pistol and waiting for another that is going to have regular sights so I agree I will take possession of the pistol. I tell him I am not happy about that fact I am out time and money for the second trip to my FFL because of his screwup, not mine or Taurus. I said that the second pistol should have been inspected before it shipped and he agreed. I asked for $50 to cover gas and time and he agreed. So now I have a pistol without a front sight for a few days but I did get the pistol for about $200 less than anywhere else even though it was a huge PITA. Would I do it over again had I known, no even a chance. I have to get driven because my injuries prevent me from driving any distance. My wife spent 4 hours with me while I dealt with this and I hated putting her through that. Also, sitting in the car that long will put me in bed for a few days as well I did it last week but didn't really want to this week. Will I order from Bud's again? Not likely or at least not in the near future. They still haven't sent the call tag to ship the original pistol back so I can get my money back. I can see that being the next big issue. Will I ever order or own a Taurus again, never because obviously their quality control is crap. Even if this pistol is great and runs 100% I will consider it a fluke. Also, Taurus' answer to everything is "return the gun to us". All I wanted was a front sight and was told this but I will not place my pistol in that llimbo over a front sight. Dolomite Also, if anyone is ordering any Taurus auto pistols in the next few months I would make sure they inspect the weapon for a front sight or at least be ready for the snafu I went through.

Which shop in Knoxville carries Alumihide? How much was the can? The reason I ask is if I can get a local source for a decent coating I will go that route rather than order it from Brownells. With Brownells thay have a $10 fee because it is hazardous. This brings the cost of buying just a can too much for me to consider. Now if I am placing a huge order for me and a few other people then I normally put my coatings on the order but I am not placing aany big orders anytime soon and need to coat some stuff. I would also recommend a Savage. I have a Savage that shoots consistent .3's at 100 yards. This isn't my first one to do it either, my first one shot .3's regularly and would occasionally shoot a .2. If you plan on staying at 500 yards and less then get a 223. It is cheaper to shoot as well as reload for. If you are going to stretch you legs a bit then look at 308. A Savage, mounts and a decent optic you are well within your budget. Another great thing about Savages is the caliber is easily changed. Especially within a rim diameter such as .473". If you get a 308 you can swap so many different calibers it is amazing, 22-250, .243, 7-08, 338 Federal just to name a few. If you go with 30-06 it opens up dozens of calibers that only require a $150 barrel to have a whole new caliber to meet your needs. Once you have a few then you have a weapon system that can handle whatever you want to do. You can swap barrels at home with inexpensive tools or have a smith do it. My smith charges $30 to swap calibers on a Savage. With a Remington you are looking at close to 10x as much because Remington barrels are rarely drop in like Savages. Dolomite

I use GovTrack: Trackers to watch for crazy stuff. It allows you to do a search for keywords as well. In all actuality very few bills get passed and most introduced legislation is nothing more than just propaganda that the lawmakers use to show they are against or for something. Right now there are 476 bills that have been introduced dealing with immigration. Some are for and some are against but all it takes is one. Each congress starts with the slate is clean. Every bill needs to be reintroduced and go thru the process again. Now there might be times when they can expedite things based on how far it had progressed during the previous congressional session. As was already said, every year since the sunset of the assault weapons ban there has been a similar or even more in depth ban introduced, but so far they haven't had enough support to go anywhare. What really scares is that when all the dems get voted out in midterms they are going to pass things they haven't tried before. At that point I believe they they will think they have nothing left to loose and will spend the last bit of their time doing irreparable damage to our nation. It is fact that the dems use all kinds of underhanded tactics to get things passes that scares me as well. Like the 1986 MG ban for example, William Hughes (D-N.J.) proposed the amendment late in debate and at night when most of the members of the House were gone. Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.)[IMAGINE THAT!], a long proponent of gun control, was presiding over the House at that time and a voice vote was taken. Despite the fact that the bill appeared to fail, Rep. The Senate passed the final S.49 on April 10, 1986 by voice vote and it was signed by the President on May 19, 1986. This was done during the Reagan years and I feel the dems have s lot more power now than they did back then. I am familiar with working on guns. I have done most of my own work for years. I routinely have to tweak mags on new and even used guns because things do change with time. My most notorious mags were some for a Ruger 22/45. I couldn't get them to make it thru a full mag without issue. Tweaked the mags and haven't had an issue in over 10K and probably closer to 15K rounds. I am just hoping to get what I ordered, thats it and if it happens I will be very happy. As far as compensating me they didn't, all they did was pay for the FFL fees I had to pay and I have to pay the fees again when the replacement pistol arrives. I am not complaining about the FFL because he has labor in the transfer and I understood that and paid it without even a question. I still had to pay full price for the replacement gun as well as insurance, which by the way is BS. It only covers to the FFL and if the firearms arrives damaged all you have to do is refuse to take possession. After paying for their insurance I was told that by someone at Bud's. And finally, Bud's price does not include the additional charges they will charge. There is a 3% credit card fee for all non cash purchases. Considering I can't go up there and pay cash for a pistol I had to pay that as well. To me it is worth it though providing I get exactly what I ordered. I did find one similar but I didn't want similar I want exactly what I want and for that I guess I have to pay a little more. Again, as long as I get what I ordered I will be happy with the FFL and Bud's because I understand things like this do happen. It is probably still quicker than most other places I could have bought from. Anyways, we will see Monday as it was shipped today next day air. If all is good then I'll come back and edit out all the negatives out of my posts about Bud's because they are trying to make things right. Dolomite ETA: It isn't next day air. Thanks I ordered a new one from Bud's Gun Shop. When it got here it was missing the front sight and was obviously well used. Even the smith took a look at it and said it had a lot of mileage on it. I called Bud's to let them know it was used and was missing a front sight. There response was call Taurus to see if they will fix it and if they wouldn't then call back. I called Taurus and let them know I needed a front sight and the type. I told them it didn't have the Novak sights on the rear and that I wanted the same type for the front. Taurus said someone had replaced the sights because the brand that was on there was never an option on the particualr gun I ordered. They said I would need to return the gun to them to have the front sight replaced which I wasn't going to do. Mind you I still haven't took possession of the pistol. I called Bud's back and explained to them Taurus would not replace the sight. I asked if they would remove the front sight from the other pistol they had in stock and mail it. They said they wouldn't. I then told them to send a call tag because I would not accept the gun because it was missing the front sight as well as being a used gun. I asked if they could have the replacement in the mail once the messed up pistol was in UPS possession and they said they couldn't. To prevent the wait I bought the replacement so I would not have to wait the week or two for it to arrive. While speaking with them they acknowleged they had sent the wrong firearm when they researched the serial number. They are going to refund the purchase as soon as that pistol arrives at their facility. Bud's refunded the fees the FFL charged me even though I did not take possession. Now I am waiting on what will hopefully be a new pistol. Dolomite

It may be a bit much to fathom right now but don't think it can't happen if there is a large voting base that the politicians are fighting for their vote. Look at what has happened with the illegal aliens entering as well as already in the US. There is such a large base of illegals that politicians are catering to them. There are places in which they do vote and politicians turn a blind eye because they want to win even if it is with the vote of these criminals. There are now safe haven areas for them in which it is against the law for law enforcement to pick them up. There is a real push to allow the illegals to remain and give them rights they did not work for and are not entitled to(Social Security). They already receive healthcare at reduced or no cost even if they are illegal yet over 40 million Americans can't afford or even get health insurance because of pre existing conditions. All of this is because of the large voting base. With the estimates out there it will not be much longer before America will fall from being the best country in the world because of all the drain these illegals are causing to this country. I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again or more often then I would take a serious look at it. Whenever I have a new or used gun with new mags I take a piece of tape and number each mag. I shoot as normal but if I have any abnormalities I note the mag number. If the same mag causes me more than one problem it goes into the range/training bag or is marked with paint so it will never be used for anything critical. Also, having a known bad mag for training helps you practice immediate action drills during training so you don't have a brain fart when something critical is going on. Are your C Products mags the stainless ones or aluminum? Reason I ask is steel mags tend to be a bit on the small size and can flop around inside the magwell. Most times it doesn't cause a problem but when tolerances stack it can cause problems. Even though everything is within spec the specs can stack. .002" can stack up to a lot when you take into consideration all the parts used to make a firearm. One more thing, Federal brass tends to be a bit on the soft side. That is the reason most serious reloaders don't use it. Not saying it caused it but it probably accounted for the amount of damage to the round. I try to stay with RP and Winchester loaded rounds. In all honesty the RP rounds tend to be cheaper than anything else and always go bang and shoot just as well in all my guns. Or at least they did the last tie I had to buy some. Dolomite

The last Glock I bought new cost me $397, I still had to pay tax and TICS. This was last year at a local shop in Knoxville. It was for a Glock 17 and when asked any standard frame gun was that price. The 45 ACP and 10mm were more but not by much. I passed on a 45 ACP Glock for $329 out the door at a pawn shop. I had no use for it. Dolomite

You don't by chance own a 1911 or a Glock as well? The reason I ask is I have holsters for both and was hoping you could test fit the 24/7 in one of the hoslters. I know it won't be a perfect fit but hopefully close enough that I don't have to shell out some more cash for more holsters. Dolomite

I am looking at getting one of these and was wondering if anyone owns or owned one and what it was like. I am concerned about problems if any as well as the ergonomics. I think there must be something to it. My wife shoots skeet informally and does pretty well. Out of 25 she will hit probably 22 on a good run but normally does a little worse. Our son, who was 17 at the time, walked out and said he would like to give it a try. He had never shot skeet before, never touched that gun before and was never really interested in shooting. After missing his first shot he went on a string in which he only missed on other shot out of 25. My wife kind of looked around a bit amazed as my son handed her the shotgun saying it isn't all that hard. He went back inside, thinking nothing of how well he just shot. Dolomite

Thanks, even before I bought the Colt I called a 1911 guru of mine I have known for a while. He lives in NC and we met overseas while doing what we do. I sent him pictures as well as the price. His response was buy it and if I didn't like it he would gladly give me more that I paid for it so I know I won't lose any money on it either way. I am going to Gunkote it to make the finish more uniform I just haven’t decided on color. I will also install an extended slide stop and magazine release to make them easier to reach. I already removed the Hogue grips and replaced the trigger. I replaced the grips with simulated ivory to make the gun thinner and keep the soft rubber from snagging. I am still not sure whether I like the grip color or not but they are definitely thinner than the Hogue grips. I did look at various H&K's. I like them but they seemed a bit bulky, which was another reason I was getting rid of my Glock. I didn't even give the M&P a thought, mostly because I am getting away from the striker pistols. I was considering the Taurus 24/7 for a few reasons. First is the extra barrel length as well as the ability to restrike a round if you have a FTF. In the end I thought about it and with modern ammunition being what it is I felt the odds of having a FTF are remote enough not to warrant purchasing a pistol with the ability to restrike the primer, including the Taurus. I still like it a lot and may actually push my wife to get one to replace her Sigma. Her biggest complaint is the trigger pull, when first purchased she was happy with it but now that she has fired several other guns she realizes the trigger sucks. Dolomite

I call BS on this. There is no way they would contact someone out of the blue to tell them to delete something they downloaded. At best they would monotor activities but even that is VERY unlikely. They can't just randomly pick out people to enforce a law that was never broken. This is just more tin foil propaganda BS that we, ourselves perpetuate. This is the same type of BS that causes people to go out and fear buy. Anytime there is fear of bad weather people fear buy milk, bread and eggs, the 3 most perishable items one could probably buy at the store to make themselves feel prepared. These same people bought into the "All ammunition made after June 2009 will have an expiration date". I was at a show last year and a dealer was selling CCI Stingers for $27 a box with a sign saying "Pre June". When I asked about the June thing the dealer stated all ammo made after June of 2009 will expire in 6 months. It was a gimic on his part to prey on the fear of people. A bit of cautiousness with regards to a lot of things is good so long as it doesn't cause uneccessary fear. Also, anytime I hear a friend of a friend whose brother had this happen it is almost always either BS or very embellished for dramatic effect. I would love to talk to the person that had this personally happen to them, not second hand but straight from the horses mouth as I call BS. I picked up a nice Colt Compact 1991A1 in 45 ACP. It came with 1 factory mag and 2 MecGar mags. It also came with about 50 rounds of ammo and a cheap holster. It is wearing Hogue finger groove grips that will be gone soon. If I don't find any at the show tomorrow then I will be ordering them as soon as I get home. I am wanting slim line grips. I am also going to look for a decent OWB holster. I didn't really look today because I hadn't bought the pistol until after I left the show. I appreciate everyone's recommendations Dolomite
