  1. If there is ANYTHING I can do PLEASE ask. You have my number so call anytime you just want to talk and get your mind off of life for a while. Doesn't matter the time, if you want to talk give me a call.
  2. Nope, just trying to a way to forget about life for a while.
  3. Yep and for those of you scratching your heads. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/92151-67-yo-woman-charged-with-agg-assault-for-drawing-when-she-felt-threatened/
  4. We raised APBTs for a while. Won't find a better dog providing it is properly socialized. A APBT locked away without outside contact is an accident waiting to happen. Socialize, socialize and more socialization will prevent any issues especially fear biters. And if you do get a APBT realize they are not the 80+ pound monstrosities you are seeing. A good confirmation APBT will be hard to tell from the average hunting dog if the ears are not clipped. BTW, I prefer my dogs to be as they were born so no docked tails or ears. When we raised them we stayed with old school blood lines where a male would weight a max of 60 pounds and a female weighs 50. I had a dog that was 100% APBT with old school blood lines that weighed 30 pounds. And the best part is because it doesn't look like the bigger dogs you can pass the smaller ones off as not APBTs in case you live in an area with a breed specific ban. American Bulldogs are great dogs. Even more loving and loyal than most APBTs but less intense. They are great dogs and not as active as a typical APBT. There are two separate breads within the ABs as well. One is a Scott type which looks like a giant APBT. The other is a Johnson type and it looks like a giant English bulldog. Both have the same basic body but one has the bulldog looking face and the other has less of a pushed in face. You can expect the average Scott type to weigh 90-110 pounds and the Johnson type to be up to about 120 pounds. The Johnson type is just a little bulkier than the Scott. As far as Gus goes. We were looking for an Alapaha and had spoke to several breeders. One became available from someone else and my wife bought Gus. Knowing then what we know now we should have went with a different breeder. She is a backyard breeder in the best sense of the title. She breeds dogs based solely on looks and has several monstrosities that she claims are Alapahas but they do not look like any Alapaha I have ever seen. She was nothing more than a "bully" breeder. But with that being said Gus is a good dog but definitely has some genetic issues. She wanted to retain breeding rights but after seeing some of the issues with Gus we refused to allow him to be bred and had him fixed. He has a crank tail, a genetic problem that disqualifies him as an Alapaha, he is allergic to chicken, which is common on bully breeds, and some other minor genetic abnormalities but nothing serious. He does not meet confirmation but we do not care because he is Gus and only Gus can be Gus. Gus is what the call a brown merle. Here is a video of a gray merle Alapaha. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v12KPiPtuMI If anyone wants an Alapaha I can put you in touch with reputable breeders. Also be aware there are breeders out there that have started registering ANYTHING as ANYTHING so long as you pay the fees. We joke that they will register your trailer if you pay for it. There also seems to be a BIG disparity between breed standards depending on whose standard you are reading. And here are some more "furry friends" of ours. Both are Dumbo rats because of the ears on the sides of their heads. Never thought of rats as pets but they are actually really smart, fun to watch and grow so fast. I present Willard: And Teddy:
  5. Close to a month ago I almost pulled my gun over a possible threat.   We were parked in a restaurant parking lot after dark meeting someone to buy something. A lady and a man pulled up next to us in a truck. The guy was in the passenger seat and opened the door right into our SUV. Then he looked at me with a confused look when the gap wasn't big enough for him to get out. He began trying to force his door open even more pecking at our SUV with each try. I yelled at him as did my wife. His wife backed their car up after I told him that is what they should do rather than door ding our car repeatedly. He walked up, without saying a word, and began wiping the door dings off the side of our car. My wife pushed his hand away and told him not to touch our car. He got a little puffy and my wife told his wife the best thing to do is just go away. He and his wife walked inside a restaurant then came back out and drove to the other side of the restaurant. Without a doubt the guy was intoxicated. He never said a single word and he was really confused as to why his door would not open all the way even though he was about a foot from our SUV.   A few minutes later the guy we were meeting came around the side of our SUV as my wife and I sat in the back. He was close to our SUV on the driver's side and because the windows have a heavy tint it was like he came out of nowhere. I knew we were there to meet someone but had no clue who he was or what he looked like. My wife seen the guy we were meeting first and jumped up after being startled which caused me to jump up. I start moving for cover as I was clearing my gun from its holster. Before I was completely clear I realized it was the guy we were meeting and I nonchalantly pulled my shirt back down over the gun.   I would say I was 90% cleared by the time I realized what was going on and the guy we were meeting acted like he was a little uneasy. Maybe it was because he was also meeting a stranger or maybe he seen the gun.   My initial thought was it was the first guy coming back because he was pissed because my wife told him to leave and not say a word.   BTW, we were buying a rat.
  6. Follow this topic on the top right should make it easier.   Or maybe we just need to pin it.
  7. Here is the conversation. This is in response to a post I made. I am leaning towards a real person doing some sort of research. I have a very hard time believing a bot can select me then compose a message then send it. 3600 Sent 09 October 2015 - 04:38 PM Main problem I have is she will see her mom in a jail jumpsuit and other inmates and even guards that could be intimidating . Is that ok for a 14 year old to see? Seeing Women behind bars basically? Dolomite_supafly Sent 09 October 2015 - 05:35 PM I am not a psychologist so I have no clue how anything will affect your daughter. She is your daughter and you are going to make the best decision for her, not me. Before today I had no clue who you are. You asked some questions which I tried to answer. You asked my opinion and I gave it in the most positive way possible. It is going to suck, for everyone. Your wife is going to cry most visits and you are going to feel awful. You can choose to let you daughter see it if you want or not. And if you love your wife better hang onto her until the last second because she will not be the same person coming back out. 3600 Sent 09 October 2015 - 05:39 PM It's more like how such an environment would affect a young person in general
  8. He was not a bot. We had several conversations through pm.
  9. I would get a picatinny base and then mount the HiLux on the Savage. The other should take standard rimfire rings. You will probably need a check riser for your stock on your Savage.
  10. Is the ammunition factory or hand loads? If factory what brand? If hand load what recipe? A 16" barrel with a pistol length gas system should run almost anything out there. Measure the distance from the muzzle to the gas block.
  11. I was talking surplus ammunition. I have loaded them to a much higher velocity. I have also loaded them to a much slower velocity. My first bolt gun chambered in the caliber had a 24" barrel. I was able to load 200 grain bullets using super fast powders and the result was a gun that had 45 ACP energy levels with a sound level comparable to a 22lr without the use of a silencer. With a silencer I am sure that thing would be as close to "Hollywood quiet" as anything else.   I had a 110 grain load using the Sierra 30 caliber "varmint" bullets loaded to 1,750 fps. I also knew people who were loading them to 5.7x28 velocities using a .224" bullet loaded into a sabot. Back when the caliber was being imported a costs less than 22lr there was a lot of people working on special projects using the caliber. Since the surplus has dried up so has the enthusiasm for the caliber.   And in case anyone is unfamiliar with loading the 7.62x25 it uses .308" bullets and not .311" like most comblock 30 caliber weapons.
  12. Yes, I have went through this because I prefer to carry rifle calibers with me.   One thing you can do, which is what I did for a while, is this. Build a "pistol" first then make sure the barrel length is at least 16". Then put a stock on it like you would any rifle. If you decide you want the gun with you just remove the stock and the gun turns back into a "pistol" so you can carry it. It will still have the 16" barrel but you can carry it with you unlike a rifle.   I found the perfect way to carry without breaking the law. It is my Mini Draco with the Shockwave "brace". It is small enough to fit in a laptop case when folded but unfolded it is as effective as any other gun. And the best part is I can take it anywhere. It is also longer than 26" so I could add a VFG if I wanted. The only question I have is it is legal to carry a "pistol" in this state but not sure about a "firearm". Without the VFG it is a "pistol" but with it the gun becomes a "firearm".   Something else, if you use your "rifle" to save a life you should be exempt from the other state laws. Like if you have to get out of your vehicle with your loaded rifle to save a life. I have carried my SBR in my vehicle in the past as well. My thinking on that is this, if a person steals a regular firearm it is treated the same way as if the person stole the radio or something else in the vehicle because a gun is viewed as nothing more than property. Now if someone steals a registered NFA item it automatically falls into felony territory. And the ATF takes it very seriously and will involve themselves in any investigation the local LE might do.   If someone is going to steal from me I prefer they steal NFA items over anything else.   There is the pistol->rifle->pistol ruling but not sure how that changes with the "rifle" being a registered SBR. I know you can remove an NFA item from NFA purview at any time just by configuring it as a non regulated firearm. I am not sure if you can legally take a SBR turn it back into a pistol then go back to a SBR. Not sure how that would apply in Tennessee as far as carry either.
  13. BTW, my favorite caliber is a toss up between 7.62x25 and 300 Blackout. 10+ years ago I was working on 7.62x25 made from 5.56 brass. It would have filled the same roll as 300 Blackout but as more of a PDW roll.
  14. I think this caliber would be a HUGE hit if it was chambered in a modern gun design. FMJ will defeat soft armed as well as helmets. Less recoil than most other pistol calibers. And with a bonded HP it would provide plenty of expansion. A SWC with a large meplat would also be very effective. Then I would like to see a purpose built locked breech SMG/PDW chambered in it as well. With a 16" barrel this little roils gets close to 1,800 fps if my memory is correct.
  15. Because they are idiots, any other excuse I will reject.
  16. You can have it in any configuration you want. I was told in an email that as long as it is registered you will not get in trouble by changing barrel lengths or overall length.
  17. Service revolver? I was not aware that Knox Country went back to revolvers.   And one more thing that really bothers me is we have someone who obviously believes in Sharia and is in LE as well as in our military. Might be the next Hasan in the making. Or could be much, much worse with what all is in the area.
  18. We recently put in an emergency wood stove. It will exit through the side of the garage. I am considering having it dump into a smoke house. I just need to watch what kind of woods I use during the smoking process. We are going to try curing our own meats as well.
  19.   WOW, I guess they have.   Earlier this year I helped a friend assemble his AR. 90% of the parts came off of Ebay. LPK, barrel, FF tube, stock, sights, gas block, gas tube, buffer tube with buffer and spring, pistol grip and everything else except the stripped upper receiver and, of course, the lower receiver came from Ebay. Total cost for the gun using decent parts, not bargain basement, was $570. It was a very, very nice gun that he says is as accurate as any of his previous ARs.
  20. That is another thing that really annoys the crap out of me with my bank. They reissue at least four new cards a year because some business that I have never done business with was hacked. I check my mail and there is a new card for me to activate but when I activate the new one the old one deactivates. So I have to make sure nothing is pending otherwise it will be refused by the bank. And if I decide just not to activate the new one the old one still deactivates in like 30 days. 99% of my regular bills are setup with auto pay using a credit card so I have to go through and change billing information but without a doubt I will forget at least one and get a notice I am behind by a few months.   I understand they are trying to protect themselves by doing this several times a year is so aggravating.   But as far as PayPal goes all you have to do is look on Ebay to see what they will allow.
  21. Ebay recently lightened their stance on gun part and especially on "assault weapon" parts. You can build an AR15, except the receiver, using nothing but Ebay and pay for it using PayPal.   Plenty of banks and credit card companies out there are way worse than PayPal.   And with PayPal it is MUCH easier than paying with a credit card. I counted steps and it take me less than 5 steps to buy something using PayPal. That is less than 5 mouse clicks so I cannot see ANY credit card being any easier for online purchases. And if your purchases are from outside of the United States it can be very, very difficult to get a guarantee from your CC company like PP does. My bank refuses any purchases outside of the US unless I call them first and have it cleared but part of that is them telling me there are no protections with overseas purchases.   And I can tell you from first hand experience getting a refund through PayPal is WAY easier than trying to get a refund from a credit card company or your bank. Last time I had to get a refund I sent a request to PayPal. They contacted the seller, who did not respond, and I had my money within a few weeks of filing the dispute. And PayPal did all the "legwork" to ensure I got a refund. Yes it took a little longer but it is a lot easier than the time someone used my credit card fraudulently. When that happened I had to get a police report, statement from the store the CC was used in, I had to write statements and get them notarized. Then after close to a week of gathering all that they agreed to refund it but not before accusing my wife and I of trying to scam the bank.   If PayPal is a choice I will pick it over any other method, even if it is more expensive.   At this point I do not consider PayPal anti gun any more than the bank I bank with.
  22. Here is a place I would start. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/91731-what-are-tgoers-putting-on-their-christmas-list-this-year/
  23. If you are participating please PM me your address now. This thread will be locked tonight sometime so make sure you post in this thread before it locks if you are wanting to participate.     Ok, it is that time of year again. Metalhead is taking a break this year so I am stepping up.   Rules Must have been registered before today Must have more than 10 posts before today Must ship with delivery confirmation Must spend more than $20 Must mail your package on or before 12/15/2015     I will lock this thread on 11/20/2015. After that I will match people up then provide your name and mailing address to your Secret Santa.   And once the thread is locked please do not back out but I understand that life sometimes can get in the way. So if something does happen please let me know as soon as possible so we can make arrangements.     If $20 or more is too much please let me know. If we get enough people agreeing it is too high I will lower it. $20 is the minimum and not a maximum so I will leave it up to the Santa as to whether they want to spend more but everyone should at least hit the $20 mark. And with shipping and delivery confirmation it should still be under $30 total.   And PLEASE let this be the first year everyone gets something if they sign up.   I'm in by the way.
  24. Its crippling everyone except those politicians that were NOT required to have it or even read it.
