  1. I have contacted the show promoter. He made sure what was taken from me was replaced and I thanked him for it but the ammo that was taken from me is a drop in the bucket. He has also said that after every Expo show he gets a lot of calls complaining about the security there. I suspect that the sales at the Expo Center have gone down since they quite using KCSO deputies a few years ago. It would hard to tell because of the recession but I have spoke to several strangers at the show and they have said it will be there last out there. I like the Expo Center, the light is a lot better than Chilhowee but honestly if I do go this weekend it will be the last on the current contract. If you want to see what I am talking about first hand do one of two things. Either enter with ammunition, whether loose or in magazine, or stand outside with a gun in hand like you are selling it. Either of these actions will get you some attention and then threats from the security if you quesiton them. They have grabbed people for nothing more than trying to talk to them. They make sure to treat the customers with no respect yet if you don't give them the upmost respect they make sure to threaten or actually grab you like some little kid. It doesn't even have to be physical to be assault. TCA 39-13-101. Assault. — (a) A person commits assault who: (1) Intentionally, knowingly or recklessly causes bodily injury to another; (2) Intentionally or knowingly causes another to reasonably fear imminent bodily injury; or (3) Intentionally or knowingly causes physical contact with another and a reasonable person would regard the contact as extremely offensive or provocative. Using this criteria the white haired guy has assaulted quite a few people not including the times he has actaully grabbed customers. Dolomite
  2. Sheriff's officer or not, they can't seize property without due process. It doesn't matter if it is a 15 cent round or a 15 thousand dollar car. There are rules that must be followed. To me running around threatening to have people arrested when they are doing nothing against the law is a form of intimidation. I think what needs to happen is if they are still up to their same antics is we ALL call the show promoter, the Expo Center as well as the state and complain. Enough people complain about it often enough and something is bound to change. Dolomite
  3. It has been tried in the past and I am sure it will be tried again but the one thing that really scares me is taxing imputed income. If you own a home you have to declare the amount it would cost to rent the same house as income because money saved is money earned. It would apply to everything you own that has value, cars, household items, anything they can put a value on. Your gross income would be adjusted to reflect the money you have saved by owning something. In Germany they have had a similar way of doing things for decades. They get taxed on everything they own. Once a year the streets are lined with items to be thrown out so the families are not taxed on items they do not want or need. They even get taxed for attending church. This is the same kind of Euro trash thinking that is trying to be forced down our throats here. Eventually the tax burden is going to be too great for the working populous to sustain all the "give it to me because it's mine" programs. Dolomite
  4. These 416's are exactly like the Umarex Colts. Notice the safety goes 180 degrees like on the Umarex Colt. This only leads me to believe it is going to be the same crap weapon made of potmetal. Not sure about the MP5 but if it is also a Umarex gun I would have to pass. I don't own a M&P 15-22 but I have held and looked them over quite a bit before building my dedicated AR in 22. I can say that without a doubt the M&P is leaps and bounds better quality than the Umarex M-4. In my mind this might be the product that forces a lot of their die hard users to walk away from HK. Most are advocates and will fight to the death to defend the HK name but when they see what they were duped into buying because it says HK on the side I think they will feel cheated. Dolomite
  5. I swore I would not go to another show for a long time because they are becoming all the same but I may hit this one. I am looking for some Wolf primers, SRM and LP. As far as the security they are still going to be stealing from people as always. Walk in with a loaded mag if you don't believe me, they will empty your mag in front of you then laugh as they point at the signs. What they don't realize is that they are breaking the law. When this happened to me earlier this year I spoke to LE, detectives and all said the security were stealing. Because they are security they are working on behalf of the property owner, a private party. There is no sign in the world that allows one private party to steal another private party's property. At some point someone is going to sue the Expo Center, their security as well as RK Shows over this. It is going to be the same, the old security guy is going to be walking around outside threatening to take people to jail for selling their guns outside. He is going to be grabbing people and muscling them around. He is able to get away with it because people, including me, don't call him on it. And honestly if something happened to me legally I would probably loose my clearances. It is those clearances that will let me work if I ever get well enough to go back to work. Even an arrest without a conviction could cost them and I am just not willing to stand my ground on it, at least not now. Dolomite
  6. I have always liked those. I think you are going to like it as well. 1911's are addictive because they are so customizable. Welcome to the brotherhood. Dolomite
  7. He mentioned in the other post that he would take it to the state supreme court. Even if he is an idiot and everything is unfounded it will still cost us money and any amount of money spent on this is wated money in my eyes. I wish states could deport people like countries can. Deport this idiot to another state, perhaps California, where he will get really butt sore over his gun rights if he thinks Tennessee is all that bad. Dolomite
  8. I do believe by doing what he did he could be arrested for Disorderly Conduct. I would think that carrying a pistol, regardless of type, in your hand as you walk around in public would meet the criteria for threatening behavior. Other than that he didn't break the law but I think he is an idiot for what he did. In reading all his posts he doesn't realize or doesn't care that his actions make make all gun owners look like idiots. I think he went into this thinking he was going to prove a point but now sees it as a possible paycheck. Problem is regardless of the outcome all of us are going to pay for his antics with our tax money. Even if he doesn't win the costs involved in taking it to court are astronomical. Dolomite
  9. Being an owner of a Charger I can say that accuracy is in line with a factory 10/22, that is nothing to great. I went through mine and set back the barrel to get a better chamber and that helped immensely as did having the bolt headspaced. I also did the trigger to get a nice crisp and light trigger. Now it is as accurate as most rifles, maybe a bit better but not by much. In order to get the msot out of it you must shoot it off the bags. As far as the Charger itself being useful. I thought I had to have one so I bought one. Once I got it home I realized that it is too big to be handy and too small to make it as accurate as a rifle. The only advantage it has is the high capacity mags but those are hit and miss making it a mute point. They are fun but there are plenty of other better choices out there. I would rather have a some sort of 22 pistol as they are handier and probably just as accurate as the Charger. Here are some pictures of my "Tactical Charger": I have since put it back to the factory setup because even though the tactical version was fun it left me wanting in the accuracy department. Dolomite
  10. Some people say it helps with accuracy. It definitely makes the gun feel more solid or robust. I can see it helping with accuracy providing the material used to take up the space doesn't change with temp. The rubber wedges would have to change with the temp so the harmonics of the entire gun might change as well leading to an inconsistent gun. I personally have tried wedging the upper and lower and saw no increase in accuracy but it definitely made the gun feel more robust. There are uppers out there that have holes drilled and tapped for a setscrew so you can tighten up the two halves. The hole coincides with the bottom of the upper's lug. When you tighten the setscrew this forces the upper up and binds it against the takedown pin. Personally I think most of it is to make the gun feel better than make the gun more accurate but again I could be wrong. Dolomite
  11. I do as well. The reason for me is probably the same reason for you, to expose as much of my vest to the target as possible. When standing squared it provides as much coverage as possible. If I try to "get small" by tuning sidways it opens me to shot through the armpits that will likely be fatal. There was a lot of problems with that until LE and others started using shoulder panels. I also found it easier to shoot while moving through the target when squared up. By using this stance it allows you to move more naturally than standing sideways or partially sideways. Dolomite
  12. Glad to see everything is working out for the worker and hopefully this will cause a change in policy so other workers can protect themselves if they choose to. I can gurantee that the worker as well as the comapny is going to get sued. Not saying it is right but I can gurantee a pro bono attorney is going to take on the case. I can hear it now "poor little johnny was a good boy despite coming from a broken home and he wasn't doing anything wrong when he was murdered". Most will settle out of court because it is cheaper than trying to fight it or take a chance on a jury. I was told by a legal director that preparing for a wrongful death suit generally costs between $20K and $30K so if they can settle the case for less, without admitting guilt, it makes financial sense. 13. Thanks, I may have to pick some up to see how I like them. The Larue's cam directly on the surface of the firearms and can cause shiny spots while the ADM's don't. Larue always said it was no big deal on a duty gun but even though I don't own any safe queens I still don't like anything camming against the surface of the gun. All my AR's are tools and if they get dropped, scratched or dinged I don't care as long as they still function. Dolomite

  16. Here are some pictures of an American Classic I purchased a few months back. In the guns defense this is my EDC gun and is carried in a minimalistic holster. I know some areas are normal wear areas but I included them because the bluing seemed to be thining more than other 1911's I have had. None of the thinning has resulted in any rust or corrosion. The beavertail is not the factory beavertail. It is a stainless Ed Brown that I painted to better match the gun. It has been painted for a few months now and hasn't even offered to wear despite it being Krylon. The Krylon was a temp fix until I got the whole gun coated. The pistol is going to be finished in Brownells Gunkote as soon as I make up my mind what color I want. As with everything I do, I want it to outside of the norm. I have used it in the past for several guns as well as individual parts and really like it. I holds up extremely well as long as prep is done correctly which takes longer than actaully coating. It will be getting a lot of custom work done at the same time. If you have any other questions about this gun or would like other pictures feel free to ask. I have a lot of detailed pictures from the day I bought it as well. Dolomite
  17. So my wife and I are sitting around she felt a bit of a rumble. It was at 7:50 AM and very slight. I say very slight because I didn't feel anything but she has always been right before. Just wondering if anyone else felt it? We are in E Tennessee about 18 minles notheast of Knoxville. Dolomite
  18. Nice looking stick with a nice setup. Are those ADM mounts? If so how do you like them and can you compare them to Larue? I have had Larue mounts in the past and really like them but I think the mouting system on the ADM's are better. Dolomite
  19. I don't open carry as a general rule but I do make it more accessible if the "spidey sense" tells me to. If I am in an area where people won't freak out if they see a gun, like the stables where my wife boards, I will make the pistol a lot more accessible or even OC. Everyone there knows I carry and there are a few others that regularly do there as well. In this weather I will wear a shirt and a jacket, both of whcih cover the gun. If I get that tingling feeling I will lift my shirt up and over the pistol while still keeping it covered with the jacket. If the jacket is zipped I will unzip it at that point as well. This gives me less layers to work through if I need to draw. Winter is easy to conceal but summer can be challenging depending on what he wears. I don't have to tuck a shirt in so for me it is easy but if he did have to tuck in his shirts then it would make it harder but not impossible or uncomfortable with the right gear. I would rather wear a business jacket everyday with the pistol under the jacket yet outside the shirt rather than have a pistol tucked under so many layers it would be really hard to get to in a critical situation. 20. You are getting into a gray area. They said no loose ammo or loaded magazines when they stole mine. When I said I was going to walk right inside and buy ammo to replace what they took they said it was fine. But, there always is a but, if I tried to come in again with it they would take it as well. He never said boxed ammo was against the rule, just loose ammo and loaded magazines. At one point I thought it was something hatched by the dealers to sell more ammo because that first weekend they were stealing ammo from people that had taken a lot by the time I made it through the doors which was relatively early. And to anyone who has been following what I have said. I am not a lawyer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, so verify everything I have said before you put your freedom or your hobby in jeopardy. Dolomite
  21. We are talking about as you enter or when you are outside selling a firearm. He runs around outside and threatens people. On the way in if you happen to have ammo on your person they steal it and point to a sign. Problem is the security is taking personal property without due process and when no laws have been broken, only rules set by the property owner. There is no sign in the world that allows a private party to take another private party's property, that has to be done through the courts. The security working there are not working as LE, they are working as an agent of the private property owner, the Expo Center. I am really surprized people haven't sued the Expo Center because those agents, who are stealing private property without due process, represent the Expo Center and as such the Expo Center can be held accountable in civil court for the agents actions even if those the agent represents are not present. If one of the security guards assualted you, you could sue the security guard as well as those he works for. Also, I wonder if because they also wear the uniform of the Sheriff's Office if they could also be held accountable because the security is also representing themselves as an agent of the Sheirff's Office. They can enforce laws and they can enforce the property owners rules unless those rules violate laws. The can ask you to leave or refuse you admittance with the ammo but they can not legally take your property when no laws have been violated. When they seize private property when no laws have been broken is theft plan and simple. Dolomite
  22. I'll PM you the name after this weekend. There is a show at the Expo center and he will be there. I have a long conversation with Rex of RK Shows about the whole situation. He said part of the contract was that the Expo center would provide the security. Rex has spoke to them since my incident earlier this year about using his own security and he said the Expo center didn't want to budge on that. The Expo center charges RK for providing security so I am sure the Expo center is making money on the deal. Rex went on to say he will not be renewing his contract with the Expo center next year unless they let him use his security. He gets calls after every show from people complaining about the security there. Only a few more shows on this contract then maybe we can finally not get hassled for going to a show. Dolomite
  23. He is actually a part of the KCSO. Like a reserve or their senior citizen watch program. I looked at his name the last time I was at the Expo show but I can't remember it either. It is an odd name though, nothing common like Smith or Johnson. What would probably happen if someone stood their ground he woud arrest them but use either disorderly conduct or public intox as the reason for arrest. Either one you would have little chance of winning. With public intox you can't have your blood alcohol level checked. I have seen that plenty of times, new arrestees request a breathalyzer to determine drunkiness only to get denied. When I worked there I have seen people get arrested for PI and come off the wagon stone cold sober, rare but it did happen. With disorderly conduct, it is based on the officer's testimony and who is going to believe a lonely citizen over an officer. It was joked about as being "contempt of cop", that is do something to upset the officer and off you go. I have not seen it often but I have seen it often enough to be leary of it. I am not saying this to lump all officers into the same category because very few officers are like this but they are out there and anyone who has been in LE for any amount of time is aware of it, maybe not directly but have probably heard of someone who has done it. And this leads me to this question that I always asked when something questionable happened while I was in LE, which was a long time. If you see an officer that is doing something that could bring a bad light on the rest of us officers why not step across that thin blue line and smack some sense into them? And if that doesn't straighten him/her up fire them rather than allow them to resign to go somewhere else continue his antics within the LE community (that I have personally seen enough to know it is common practice). A single bad cop can bring such a large amount of bad light on ALL the good cops and that is what upset me so bad. Biggest problem officers have in turning in their own is once you are labled a rat you are pretty much done in LE because you will be blackballed. Every time there was a bad cop in the news I would always get asked about it and when I would say "not me" I would get get looked at with the "yeah right" look. Again this wasn't meant to bash LE in general but it is meant to absh the few bad ones that bring bad light on the rest when a few bad officers step out of bounds. Dolomite
  24. The same white haired guy even put his hands on one of the vendors who happens to be a member here. The vendor was trying to talk to the white haired guy when the white haired guy grabbed the vendor by the arm. That happened the same weekend I lost my ammo earlier this year. They security at the Expo Center is acting like it is some sort of game. My ammo was taken by a young kid as he laughed about it. I honestly should have pushed the issue a lot farther but seeing how the kid was young and only following someone else's directions I felt there was no need for him to have a criminal record. On another note it would be interesting to know what they do with the seized ammo. If they are taking it and shooting it, or even worse selling it, they are running a serious risk as some people carry reloads. I know the ones they seized from me were HOT, HOT, HOT and had they fired them in anything but a modern gun it probably wouldn't have ended well. I have always said they have the right to ask you to leave but they have absolutely no right to take your property, even if they do have signs posted saying no ammo. It is the same if I put a sign at the end of my drive way that said "no trucks" then the second someone drives into my driveway with a truck I walk out and seize it. There is a show coming up on the 11th and 12th, maybe I might stand there and let everyone know that the security can not legally seize their ammo. Seizing it on the other hand is in fact theft. Just to reiterate, your ammo will be replaced by the show promoter if it is seized. I had 14 handloads replaced with a box of Speer Gold dots because I used Gold Dots in my handloads. I comtanted the promoter and had his nephew hand me the *CASH* to buy my replacement ammo. Dolomite
  25. That is me though. I can fit the parts in a 1911 while most probably wouldn't attempt it. For someone who can't then yes the extra $200 is worth it but not me. The only part I would have to ship out would be the slide for the for the Bo-Mar cuts. I currently have STI parts in a gun, quality stuff and yes there was fitting involved but that is something I do not mind doing. Dolomite
