  1. The Republicans decided not to put anybody up against Obama in 2012? I mean we are at a point now where there should be someone stepping up and saying "I'm running" or at least establishing and exploratory committee but everyone asked is saying they are not going to be running. If they don't get into the media soon the Republicans are going to be behind the eight ball. Not saying I am Republican but they seem to be the lesser of the two evils here. Dolomite
  2. A decade or so ago there was a similar case. A women had her eyes taken with a hot fire poker by her husband. The courts granted her divorce and allowed her similar justice. She took one of his eyes with the weapon of her choosing, a pair of scissors, and the ex husband has to pay a monthly compensation payment to his ex wife in order to keep his other eye. If he doesn't make the payment she can legally remove his remaining eye. In seeing how disfigured she is now, he should bear the same fate, not just loose and eye or two. He should be severly disfigured as well as be forced to provide her with what she needs to live. The reason I believe this is she will never be able to get married now. Single women in the Islamic countries are not allowed to support themselves or even go into public without male family members present. She must now rely on her family in order to survive. His punishment in a hospital indicates it will mean he has immediate access to pain meds as well as treatment. He should not be allowed these items and he should be tied to a pole in the streets then be splashed with acid. Then cut him loose to find his own way, the whole way the acid burning him. This way he will suffer the same short term pain a well as the life altering disfigurement she has suffered. If there was a silver lining in this it is her wearing a burka in public isn't uncommon so other than the blindness most others will not know how she truly looks. Doesn't change the fact she has suffered greatly from a life altering run in with a cruel and sadistic man but it may not be as bad as in some other countries. Dolomite
  3. Great job! Stick with it and you can do great things. I wish I could still run because it was the one thing that I was good at and really enjoyed. Last time I ran was June 4th 2008. During my running "hey days" I was running ~25 miles a week. I could run a single mile in 5:45, two miles in 12:30 and 4 miles in under 26 minutes. The longest I ever ran was 16 miles and at the end felt like I could have kept going. Before my helicopter accident I was running 2-3 miles a day to try to slowly work back up to my best times or at least that was the plan. It is one thing that I really do miss. Dolomite
  4. With the best prices on anything related to reloading. Also has an amazing selection. He is an honest, no BS seller that will do you right every time. I have spent a lot of money with him over the last few years and have never felt I was taken advantage of. Dolomite
  5. I am needing an appraiser to appraise my property. I do not want an optimistic estimate but a real world, since the market crash, estimate. I am not selling or refinancing my property but I am trying to fight the 13% increase in my property value since last year. My taxes have continued to increase since the market crash and I am sick and tired of it. I know my property isn't worth what they are saying it is because the house has been on the market for a while now with no takers at $30K+ below my county's appraised value. I live about 3 miles outside of Knox county inside Grainger county. I am about 20 minutes from Knoxville Center Mall. PM me if you can help. Dolomite While you are here we can sling some lead as well.
  6. For filtering contaminated water just build a sand filter. I built mine for less than $20 and it will filter a tall glass of water per minute. It doesn't need to be replaced and only gets better with time. Mine was built using a 5 gallon bucket but you could build a larger version for more flow but for me and my family a glass of water per minute would be plenty to sustain us for basic living. Initially a sand filter will only filter solids out. It will still have some pathogens for the first few weeks. After the schmutzdecke layer has been established it will filter all dangerous stuff out of the water and can be drank as it comes out. Prior to this you take the filtered water and put it into clear water bottles and place them in the sun. The natural UV rays will kill all pathogens in a day. Or you could just boil the water. I have four 55 gallon drums for rain water storage. I also have several 15 gallon drums as well as seven 7 gallon water containers. We can collect rain water or gather water from a natural spring less than 20 yards from our house. We are also on well water so we can get water from that source as long as we can generate our own electricity. A few biosand filter videos: Dolomite
  7. And just a reminder to those who happen to walk in with a loaded magazine. THE GUARDS ARE BREAKING THE LAW WHEN THEY STEAL YOUR AMMO!!! They can not take your personal property without due process of the law regardless of the signs they have posted. In the same way I can't steal someone's truck after they drive past a sign saying "No trucks" at the end of my driveway. The guards are doing this at the Expo Center, post a sign then take private property as they point to the signs. Value has nothing to do with it, whether it is a $1 or a $1,000,000, theft is theft. They can do one of two things, ask you to leave or ask you to put the ammo in your vehicle but they can not take your property. When they stole my ammo last year I spoke to LE and was told that the guards were in fact stealing. Rather than ruin the life of the young kid who took my ammo I allowed the gun show promoter, Rex, to make things right. Rex did make it right by having his nephew give me money (no questions asked by the way) to purchase new ammo. Imagine if everyone who has had their ammo stolen over the last year and a half called upon Rex to make things right by having him pay for their stolen ammo. If you have had ammo stolen give Rex a call and he will make things right with cash. R.K. Shows, Inc. PO Box 334 Manchester, IA 52057 Phone: 563-927-8176 Phone: 563-927-8310 Phone: 563-927-2233 Fax: 563-927-8207 The security company is: Knox Contract Security Division 419 E. Morelia Ave. Knoxville, TN37917 865-740-6660 It is owned and operated by Gene Farmer and does in fact work for Knox County Sheriff's Office in Shools Division. Every show I see them doing the same thing, stealing private property without due process of law. At some point someone needs to file criminal charges against the thieves then get rich by suing the security company they work for as well as the Expo Center for violating their Fifth Ammendment Right. RK Shows are in no danger because the security is provided by and working as an agent of the Expo Center, not RK Shows. Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation Also, this violates the Constitution of Tennessee Section 8. That no man shall be taken or imprisoned, or disseized of his freehold, liberties or privileges, or outlawed, or exiled, or in any manner destroyed or deprived of his life, liberty or property, but by the judgment of his peers, or the law of the land. And just to reiterate, NO PRIVATE ENTITIY CAN TAKE YOUR PRIVATE PROPERTY WITHOUT DUE PROCESS! And a sign does not constitute due process. Even the Knox County DA's office has stated that they are in fact stealing but admitted that they probably wouldn't prosecute because of the small value being stolen. He did say to call the police and make a report of the theft though. He went on to say that after getting a report sue them as well as the Expo Center in civil court for damages. And there is the problem, people aren't willing to spend or even afford the $1,000+ dollars to sue them over a $30 box of ammo. So the security company is getting away with theft. Dolomite
  8. Hate to revive a daed thread but I figured I would give a little update. So about a month or two after I initially posted this thread I went back to Applebee's or at least that was the first time I noticed this. The sign that used old verbage and that was posted at the entrance was gone. Not updated or moved, from what I could see, but gone totally. Speaking with the district manager as much as I did in the weeks following see assured me she would try to get it removed and she was successful. Also, a few weeks ago I ate at the newly opened Applebee's in Oak Ridge. It too has no signs what so ever prohibiting firearms. It is also managed by the same people as those who manage the Knoxville Applebee's. If it does have a sign that crops up then call the district manager and complain because it is not their doing but the restaurant manager that is doing it of his own accord. They, the district manager as well as the regional manager, made good on their word to try everything in their power to get the signs down and they have succeeded. Dolomite
  9. It was probably bought as a test bed then figured he would sell it after he perfected his craft. Dolomite
  10. If you have installed a SAV-R adjustable sear in your Savage bolt action rifle please contact me. Thanks Dolomite
  11. This is nothing more than a dealer trying to screw people over. And if you did order and decided to cancel they would figure out a way to keep some of your money. Dealers are selling them for as low as $580. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/handguns/56333-added-new-one-collection-2.html PM me the name of the dealer so I can make sure never to deal with them. I understand trying to make what they can but these are the same dealers that were probably gouging during the Obama scare. These are the same dealers who say they never make any money selling guns, probably because they overprice everything so no one will buy from them. Dolomite
  12. I still wouldn't trust my life on bullet resistant glass. Dolomite
  13. 83%. Most of the problem came from the Mercury years question. Got all of them wrong. I was born 20+ years after the newest car in the test. Dolomite
  14. You going to be at the show Saturday? If so maybe I can meet you there with the loads. Dolomite
  15. There are always several at the gunshow. They run around $475 and then you can haggle the tax and TICS. That is what I did, price was $475 so I told them that is what I was willing to pay or I would offer the same to another dealer. The first one took the deal. Dolomite
  16. My Eradicator was easily as clear as a VX-II and probably nudging close to VX-III territory. Another Mueller to look at is the APT. It is a 4.5-14 mildot with target turrets. It is the tactical version of their really popular APV. Dolomite
  17. Are you looking at the daimondback in a mildot? Like I said a mildot is like the multitool of the reticle world. I never thought I wanted one until I started using one. Now I can't imagine being without one. Dolomite
  18. Get the version with the beavertail and extended controls as they have the novak style sights. They aren't Novaks but not that bad. I had to open the rear notch on mine to make it better for carry but other than that they work fine. Dolomite
  19. If the officer felt safe then there was no need for you to be disarmed. It is officer safety that is paramount and he will be the one to determine what his comfort level is. I would not call the chief. It will do nothing but make the officer not help next time. He had no legal requirement to help you yet he did. As is said no good deed goes unpunished and it sounds like the good deed by the officer is about to cause him some punishment. Think about it, next time you need help he may just call a wrecker to have your vehicle removed from the side of the road rather than help you. And it would be perfectly legal for him to do so. Also, what is you LE background? Talking to someone's supervisor when you have no LE background, don't know the officer or even know their department policy seems a little overboard. It is like me walking into your line of work and telling you how to do your job. I say he did good. Just be glad he helped you. Dolomite
  20. Impact Guns - American Classic II Model, 1911, 45 ACP, Blue American Classic 1911 Pistol - www.MidwestHuntersOutlet.com Bersa 8 + 1 Round 45 ACP Single Action American Classic w/Ma $419.00 SHIPS FREE Just a few places Dolomite
  21. 30mm tubes are stronger and generally have more elevation and windage adjustment. For most the difference comes down to cost a you mentioned. Dolomite
  22. Trust me there is a reason why all the hgih end, accurate 1911's have hand fitted slides. It does contribute to the accuracy because the barrel link uses the slide stop ,which is attached to the frame, to lock the barrel into the lugs. As long as the gun locks up tight it should be but may not be as accurate when there is slope between the frame and slide. There are instances where the slide to frame slope is so great that the barrel doesn't lock up consistantly. Either way I can tell you that my MA was a better shooter than my Colt. The Colt was reliable but the MA shot tighter groups. Dolomite
  23. I would avoid a BDC reticle. If you need a reticle for holdover get a mildot. They are easier to use and can serve as a rangefinder as well. BDC reticles rarely match ANY ammunition out there. Get a mildot and shoot your most accurate load across a chronograph. That will give you all the information you need for reaching out. To use a mildot for ranging do this: Height of target multiplied times 1,000. Divide by the number of dots it covers in the scope. The output is the distance in whatever measurement the weight was. If it was yards in it will be yards out, meters in, meters out, works for feet or any measurement. Example: A man in 2 yards tall, he covers 5 dots in the scope. 2 yardsx1,000=2,000/5=400 yards. As far as brands go Vortex is a decent one in your price range and has a lifetime warranty. Mueller is also another one that has a good warranty. Hawke is another as is Falcon line of scopes. Avoid Barska, BSA, Osprey, NcStar and Leapers as they tend to be junk and getting waranty work can be a bit rough. You could probably get a low end Leupold, which has excellent customer service. It won't be the same quality as a Vortex for the same price but you also have the backing of a company that has been around for decades. Nikons are decent but not worth the asking price IMHO, and yes I have had several and all went back. Bushnell makes some decent scoeps in that price range as well. Dolomite
  24. For the money of a RIA buy a Metro Arms. My MA shot better than my Colt. Not saying RIA's are bad but when you compare them side by side I think MA has an edge. Slide to frame fit is great as is the trigger, sights and accuracy. I paid $475 OTD for mine at a show. On gunbroker there is a seller selling them for <$430 shipped. With transfer and TICS you ate going to come in less than what I paid for mine. Dolomite
