  1. If you paid with PayPal then contact them. They can seize or freeze the guys account to ensure you get your money. They can tell you step by step on how to return it and then get a refund either from the seller or through PayPal. I have filed disputes with PayPal several times and it always worked out for me. As much as gun people hate PayPal they are the only way I pay for online transactions anymore. I even use PayPal when purchasing on other sites as well. I pay my garbage pickup with PayPal. I buy reloading supplies through PayPal. Pretty much if an online retailer has a PayPal option I use it. Dolomite
  2. If some one planted the rifle they would at least put it on fire to support what they thought they saw. Crooked cops generally aren't idiots, it takes some intelligence to get away with being crooked. I'm not talking about the ones who abuse their authority but the one who scheme and lie to get away with things. Things in general need to be done differently. SWAT should not be used unless those being served have shown a propensity for violence. In this case I believe there was evidence to support there use based on Jose's previous weapons charges but as a general rule they should not be used. Dolomite
  3. I guess the police interview afterwards was wrong when they said they found those items but did not find any cash at his residence. So I guess to you it is ok to point firearms at officers? Give it a try and say hello to Jose for me after you do. Or how would you respond to someone pointing a firearm at you? Regardless whether they found anything or not thy had a legal right to be there. They had a legal right to defend themselves. And all of this is without regard to what they did or did not find. If someone points a firearm at me I will remove the threat. If it requires me to shoot someone so be it. Dolomite
  4. Not sure where you got that I like older guns because I don't. I use and build new Savages. They tend to be more consistent in their dimensions than the old guns ever thought about. As far as lasting only a few hundred rounds I have a few thousand through a couple of them and never had an issue. Gunsite, like every other school out there, has their opinions which are not based in fact but based on opinins of those they listen to. There are several schools that tell students that Glocks are junk and likewise there are several schools that claim any 1911 is not fit for duty. Maybe individual guns but not the platforms themselves and the same goes for Savage. There is even a HCP school on here that won't allow Bersa's to be used in their school. Savage as a whole is a well build gun and has always been accurate. Whether new or old they all shoot well but from a builders standpoint the new ones are the same lot to lot. Stevens 200's, which is Savages budget line, tends to be even mroe accurate because they are sold "as machined" without all the fluff and buff of a Savage. The fluff and buff can change the guns dimensionally. Dolomite
  5. What is wrong is they are not looking for justice or the truth, they are looking for a conviction. What they do not want is a mistrial or even an acquital after they have expended all the resources in bringing the suspect to trial. That is the problem with the legal system. All prosecutors want to maintain a high conviction average like some baseball player's batting average. They are rarely concerned with the truth and even when confronted with the truth they will rarely dismiss any charges. It would have been interesting to hear of the details had she been selected. 6. Pretty well considering they found ledgers detailing his involvement in the drug trade. They found police uniforms and body armor as well. Oh yeah, they also found the dead body of a man who pointed a firearm at police. And you have to take it. You can't resist, defend or twart their actions regardless of how screwed up you think they are or how screwed up they actually are. When we as citizens are able to start resisting LE we will turn into a country we will not want to be. Having the wife show up that day unexpectedly is something hard to predict. Same way we try to predict the traffic here in Knoxville. Might be clear as a bell one day then an accident the next slows things down. Her being there was an unexpected event and no amount of prior knowledge is going to change something unexpected. They expected, based on their investigation, Jose would be there alone. Everything leading up to the raid was done well by LE and the courts. Regardless of how they came to be at his house he was the one who pointed a firearm at police and it cost him his life. I feel for his family, especially the children, but ultimately there is only one person responsible for what happened and that was Jose. He said "yes" when he should have said "no" to his involvement in nefarious activities. At this point I think I am just going to agree to disagree. I am the first to scream form the roof tops at LE corruption, abuse as well as just plain laziness on their part but in this instance they did nothing wrong. Dolomite
  7. I am not saying you have to take any man's word at face value but look at the evidence that brought the officers to the house. Plenty of evidence collected by dozens of people over the course of months that justify the search warrant. It isn't like they picked his name out of a phone book and then decided to go kill him. Officers did everything about as right as you could ask. Jose had weapons charges as well as drug charges from another agency. Dolomite
  8. What do you plan on using it for? Longest expected shot? I liked having a 2x-7x scope for longer shots with a mini red dot offset for close in work. Now I only use a Millet Zoom Dot. It automatically adjusts to ambient light without any input from me. The knob adjusts the dot size from 1 to 10 MOA. It worked well enough that on its smallest dot size 500+ yard shots were easy. 10. I wonder how hard it would be to install a 45 barrel and use it to shoot 45 LC? I might have to think on that a bit. Dolomite
  11. I call dibs on his guns. Depending on what is being discussed when he says "no offense" his picture might appear on the side of a milk carton. Dolomite
  12. In the beginning it was global warming then later it was changed to climate change when we had some cold spells. The liberals blame any weather event that isn't "California like" on climate change. I do not believe the climate is changing any more than it has in the past. What does worry me is the amount of pollution that has permeated every aspect of our lives. There is mercury in most things we consume anymore. We are going to see increases in radiation levels in a lot of the same things as well after the major release in Japan. Industrial waste as well as nuclear waste. Water is contaminated in most places to a point that well water is not recommended that it be drank without filtering. Clean, uncontaminated water is going to be like the oil boom except people can't live without water. The government has already started condemning wells and forcing the residents to hook up to city water. Dolomite
  13. NIC Industries - Products and Services Dozens of other colors. Also, this is a pretty neat way to check color combinations on your gun. NIC Industries - Virtual Gun Coater Dolomite

  15. Did he get his FFL back? It was taken away by the ATF 5 or 6 years ago for several violations over a period of several years. He has continued to do gunsmithing work the last time I stopped in there a few years ago even though he no longer had his FFL. He said as long as no one left a gun over night it was legal and he is right. Problem is he would take guns in and keep them longer than a day. I asked what the ATF might say about that. He said the ATF would never know how long he has had them because he quit keeping a book to log them in and out after he lost his FFL. He is a nice guy to talk to and I have done business with him long befor ehe lost his license. Not sure I would trust leaving a firearm there now unless he got his license back. It would really suck to have a gun siezed as part of a case against him and waiting years to get it back. Dolomite
  16. I would rather see them drug tested than not. My money that I worked hard for goes to these people so some, not all, can buy illegal drugs. We already limit the EBT cards to exclude unhealthy foods as well as cigarettes, alcohol and many other items. Why not limit the same money, just in a different form, so that it will only be used for legal and healthy purposes. No one forced them into welfare, most see it as easy money so they can continue to be lazy. They were lazy in school and no child left behind let them. Now they can continue to be lazy in life and welfare will let them. What they don't realize is they have allowed themselves to be controlled and manipulated. The government promises them just enough to survive on as long as they don't try to be successful in life. It is nothing more than a means to control a segment of the population. There are a lot of people who are content with having nothing so long as they don't have to work and can continue to get that free check. I see people living in burned out trailers but as long as they don't have to work that is just fine by them. I say take it all away and make them become successful in life. Funny how hunger will motivate people into action. But if we must keep the system then drug test every person before receiving any benefits. A person that is truly in dire straights would glady piss in a cup to be able to get what they need to survive. Problem is most people confuse needs with wants. At Christmas look at the trees that have the names of families and what they say they need because they are so poor. Most are needing games for their X-Box or Playstation, or a new laptop, or a cell phone but very few have clothes or even food items listed. For me if it came down to me putting my name on a list in public the only things on there would be food items. But that is the entitlement crowd that thinks that they are entitled to the same things the rest of us have worked hard for. They blame anyone who has more than them but would gladly trade places and at the same time they would probably change their tune. Dolomite
  17. Maybe the officers did see a flash. Perhaps Jose had a light on the gun and hit the momentary switch by accident as the officers entered. With the officers hearing being affected and shut down by adrenaline as well as them probably having hearing protection of some sort they could have seen a flash from a flashlight but never realized it wasn't a shot because they couldn't hear it if it was. A flashlight going off in your direction during daylight could easily look like a muzzle flash. I know it is a bit of a stretch but being amped up on adrenaline anything can distort things. Dolomite
  18. Predator is at the end of Papermill in Knoxville. They are open from 10am-6pm Tuesday-Saturday. They have done dozens of jobs for me over the years and all have been perfect. If anyone can do what you are asking it is them. They are also great people to talk to about guns and life in general. They are good people sho take care of their customers. There number is 865 521-0625. Dolomite
  19. I absolutely hate to hear of something like this. No doubt a younger officer based on having an 6 month old child. What really upsets me is the killer was such a coward by taking his own life. At least stand up and take what you deserve like a man. Dolomite
  20. I have used rifle length free float tubes over carbine length gas systems without issue. You could also buy a dissipator style barrel and use it. They are 16" barrels with the 12" rifle gas system. The tube won't cover the gas block but you could at least get a lightweight barrel easily. You could also go with a carbine length gas system with a rifle length tube. There are plenty of lightweight carbine barrel choises out there. Personally I like having the gas block covered. Makes for a cleaner looking gun. For any rails I might add I just drill and tap the tube itself once I have it installed. I can customize the location of the rails as well. To save some money on a Hogue over molded tube do what I did. I bought this, installed it over a carbine length gas system then covered the free float tube with a length of bicycle inner tube. The inner tube comes in a universal size at Walmart for less than $4. It works just as good as a Hogue. If you want inner tube tackier just soak it in some transmission fluid for a day before installing. Just a few ideas Dolomite
