Social Security Disability attorney in Knoxville?
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
My retroactive pay will hit the cap which is like $6,100. That is the most they can legally charge even if their 33% is higher than the $6,100 amount. I have had long conversations with SS folks and in my case the retroactive date will go back to the original injury date which is well over 3 years now. I have been having some bad times recently. Fell pretty bad a few nights ago, nothing broke but walking with crutches is pretty painful in my wrist now. I ran into town today and will spend the next 2-3 days in bed because of it. Dolomite -

Not to mention the fact it would be too enticing for some would be thief to do a smash and grab on your car. That has always been my biggest concern when I have to leave mine in the car. I normally wouldn't but for doctors appointments I either have to leave it in the car or leave it at home. Dolomite -
Social Security Disability attorney in Knoxville?
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
Not really sure. I guess not working for over 3 years, being unable to drive, having problems walking, falling, pissing all over myself as well as having to rely on others to bath and get dressed wasn't bad enough. Or maybe having to use crutches for the rest of my life wasn't enough either. The doctor wanted me to use a walker but I told him I would never use it at my age. I will be appealing but I need to find a decent attorney before I start the process. Dolomite -
Checking Status of Carry Permit?

A few freinds got theirs back in less than a month. Actually one came back in like 24 days. My wife just did hers last week, we will see how long hers takes. Dolomite -
Needing someone to recommend an attorney for me. Don't really want to call the ones on television unless someone can recommend them personally. My initial application from my helicopter accident has been denied. Doctors say I am permanently and totally disabled with no hope of getting any better than I am right now, only going to get worse. My doctors even recommend I file. So if anyone can recommend a good attorney I would like to call them. Dolomite

I would try to find a training facility that doesn't have a lot of drama. Also, look at the numbers. If they are training 300+ students a week how can they honestly provide the needed one on one most people are needing when they are starting out. In all the training I was involved in, even advanced stuff, there were no more than 10 students per instructor and generally a lot less. Also, do a little research into the instructors and never rely on what is posted on the training facility's website. It is easy for them to put whatever they want on the website to entice people to come to that particular facility over their competition. It is easy to do a google search and get a "feel" for the facility. If anything feels wrong then don't waste your money. I am not going to recommend any one facility over another. They all have their different clients they cater to, some you will like while others you may hate. With that being said those I like may not be for you and the ones you like may not be for me. I will say I have never paid for a single course because they were all provided as part of my train up for work. I have been trained by several different companies, everything from hand to hand to firearms techniques. Then after that I practiced and maintained those skills on a near daily basis. At the end of the training day I would stand in my room practicing everything I had learned that day for hours. For anyone who knows me they know I shoot often, generally 3-5 times a week. I also run drills but am now limited because of my accident. I was out a few days ago practicing drawing and firing with crutches because they are part of my daily life now. That is going to make it into my training regiment as well. These skills are very perishable and when I do not shoot for a few weeks I see a difference in my abilities. Some poeple have a knack for it, I do not and have to work at it. Something I will say is buy some of the Magpul Dynamic videos. Most of the critical training can be done in your living room or in your yard without firing a single shot. Muscle memory is the key to anything so the more you do something the easier it will be to do under stress. I have practiced mag changes as well as practiced drawing my EDC gun while watching television. And finally remember slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Don't expect to start out going 100 miles and hour, slowly build up to your top speed but above all else make sure you are doing it correctly. Dolomite -
Last one I seen at a show had a price tag of $569 if I remember right. I know it was in the $500+ range. For ms that is way too much even if they are hard to come by. They said they are releasing a 22 or conversion for it. I would be really interested in a 22lr only version. They are extremely light and would make an excellent camp or bug out gun. Dolomite

I am up at 2am again because of my back problems. I have tried a bunch of different treatments for my injury but nothing has helped so far. Mine are not the same as yours and mine have been declared permanent. I have spoken to dozens of people with back problems and those with bulged disks seem to get positive results with surgery that fuses the spinal column. I would also look at an inversion table to provide some slow traction to at least relieve some of the pain. It may not cure it but it may give you some relief. Something I have started doing recently is using crutches to help me while walking. I stumble and fall a lot when I have been on my feet for 20 or more minutes or when I have been seated for a long time then stand. I use the crutches to extend the time on my feet as well as help me have a more stable platform when going from a seated to a standing position. It doesn't help the main cause of my problems which is when I sit. Standing causes me to loose sensation in my feet over time but sitting does that same as well as cause pain almost immediately. My days are spent in a constant rotation of being seated and then standing in 15-20 minute intervals. I used to look at people with back problems as a bit of a skeptic, not anymore. I now know that it can be all consuming. I find myself pondering why I chose to stay on the helicopter that crashed when I had a chance to get off before the accident. I also wonder why me or why we all survived when most other helicopter accidents are fatal. I will say that if is weren't for my wife and son I would have given up a long time ago. My doctor is the best I could imagine, he has done everything in his power to try to fix me up. He offers encouragement as well as a realistic outlook. Dolomite

He just didn't wake up that day and decided to start acting that way. I can, without a doubt, say he has done it for years in order for him to get his comfort level up to a point he feels he can makes threats. He has also probably done a lot worse but never got caught or never reported by fellow officers. I suspect there is a reason why the officer left Virginia. Perhaps similar incidents forced his resignation there. I know I have seen it over the years, officers allowed to resign in lieu of being fired for offenses in which they should have been arrested. These same officers tend to go to another jurisdiction and continue their questionable actions. Officers tend to take care of their own even when the bad officer brings a bad light to the good ones. I never understood this, the good officers should be very angry with the bad officer but it rarely happened from what I witnessed. I know any time I had an officer screw up enough to warrant being fired I tried everythig in my power to fire them but in most cases the administration allowed them to resign because it was easier. And in a lot of cases the officer received a letter of recommendation upon exit as well as a glowing review because he didn't try to fight it. Another thing that contributes to things like this is that officers are afraid of being labeled a rat if they tell on other officers. I have known several officers who did the right thing in turning in bad officers only to be ridiculed and threatened until they resigned. In most cases the bad officer would be treated better than the good officer. And when the good officer resigned they would rarely get letters of recommendation. I have even sat in front of supervisors as they called all the surrounding jurisdictions to tell them the officer who just resigned is a rat. They would joke saying the rat has been blackballed and will never work LE again. Stark contrast to the way they treat bad cops. I had a long time in LE (15+ years) when I finally left the field for good. I left on good terms and was about to be promoted again when I left. I have seen both sides and for this reason I view most officers with a bit of distrust unless I know them. This is the reason I try to record every interaction I have with LE. Dolomite

I have done a lot of fishing for BIG cats. If you are looking for fish to eat this is not what you need to do. Start the day by catching a dozen or so blue gill or pan fish for bait. Keep them alive the best you can. Next use a 5/0+ hook and a 4-6 oz weight on 20-30 pound line. I either make a "Y" with the fish on one leg and the sinker on the other leg or I will put everthing in line with the hook at the end the the sinker a few feet above it. Really depends on the bottom. The "Y" method works well if you need to keep the bait off the bottom like if there are rocks or vegitation. Hook the live bait fish through the tail about 1" from the end of the tail. Cast it out but be careful not to use to much vigor or you will throw the fish off. I would normally use a long, slow, arched throw. Finally it is a matter of waiting. Might have to wait 20 minutes or you might not catch anything. Either way the best thing to do is let it set and only check it every hour or so to make sure the fish is still alive. I have caught mostly blues and channels using this method. One thing is for sure when you do get a fish on it will be a big one. Dolomite

Just to reiterate, you never leave anyone behind. Because Yeager wasn't able to get moving that meant the rest of the detail wasn't able to either. His actions at a bare minimum meant those who were wounded and eventually bleed out didn't receive medical treatment as fast. That may or may not have been a factor in their eventual deaths but having to wait for serious medical treatment for minutes or 10's of minutes is almost certainly a death sentence when there is femoral bleed. His actions speek volumes both during the incident, prior to it as well as his actions up to today. Dolomite -

I am not ignoring your question. I don't hang on here every waking moment of every day. 45 minutes isn't a long time before giving up on getting a response. Lead/Advance Vehicle consisting of Soft Skin BMW Sedan James Yeager - Driver Steph Surette - Vehicle IC Mark Collen - Rear Gunner (medic) Center/Main Body B6 Armored Mercedes Driver- Simon Merry Vehicle IC- Ian Harris (mission 2 IC) Rear/Follow Vehicle consisting of Soft Skin BMW Sedan Driver - Chris Ahmelmen Vehicle IC – Allan Johnson (overall mission commander) Rear Gunner - James (Jay) Hunt I never said everything was his fault but it was HIS mistake that prevented the team from getting out of the kill zone. He placed the car in neutral as well as engaged the emergency brake then forgot he had done so. It was not the drivers of vehicle two or three that did that, it was Yeager who was in the lead vehicle. He should have been moving off the "X" at :07-:08 of the video, instead the team had to remain static while Yeager ran to the median. In any ambush scenario the first thing you must do is get out of the kill zone (get off the "X"). James Yeager prevented this through his actions and as a result there were deaths. Who knows, those who died might have died anyways but Yeager's actions prevented the team from getting off the "X" which didn't help in any way shape or form. And by not moving that kept them in a static position that prevented people from seeking medical treatment. There was a single person who was DRT, the other two who died did so as a result of blood loss. Femoral bleeds are pretty rough to deal with and treatment may not have made a difference but not moving definitely increased the odd they were going to die. His AAR, although detailed, also tried to show himself in good light at the expense of others (you can see the jading and deflecting). Regardless of this single incident there is a lot more out there about him. I have worked with several people who worked with Yeager. I never heard a single, positive thing said about him while I was over there. They even said that before this incident they had concerns over his actual knowledge vs his claims/resume. This goes a long way toward what I said before which was he has marketed himself well. Although it seems like it is this single incident that has brought on the proverbial ****storm for Yeager but it isn't. It was his actions before and since that has helped him gain the reputation he has. And as I said I am glad he made lemonade out of lemons but I would not put a single dime towards any of his training. Nothing against LE but I have personally seen more "issues" with those over there with those who only have LE experience as opposed to those with military experience. I am not saying all LE have issues and that all military have no issues but LE tend to have more issues in general while over there. I had both under my hat when I started working overseas. Yeager only had LE experience and that was in small towns. We have all screwed up. I have as well as most people over there at some point. It is ownership of that mistake that defines how a person is viewed. Hard to say if I would have done anything differently than James but I can assure you I would have done exactly like I have done with so many other mistakes I have made and own it. Dolomite -
Just wanted to pass this along to those here. I have no affiliation with him but have had a decent conversation with him. He is a decent guy but he has no inventory at this time because he is just starting out. He did say he is willing to order anything that someone might want if they don't mid waiting. He also said he isn't looking to get rich, just cover his rent and costs associated with operating the shop. He is also one of the farthest east shops in Knoxville. He is located On Tazewell pike about 1/8th mile from Murphy road which is the road that connects Tazewell and Washington pikes. He will be charging $20 for transfers. That is $20 for the transfer and $10 for the TICS. This is about as cheap as anywhere else in Knoxville. Even though he is an FFL holder he said he is not going to be doing any gunsmithing. He said it required additional inspections and licensing because of the chemicals and tools normally used in gunsmithing. If you have an opportunity to buy something and don't mind waiting please give this guy a chance. We definitely need another down to earth dealer. It also sounds like his pricing is going to be reasonable compared to most others in the area. And just to reiterate, I have no affiliation with him. I have known people who worked with James Yeager overseas. All have had nothing positive to say about him. They said his work ethic was a bit off and that he was a "hothead" if approached about any of his shortcomings. They also said he also wasn't as knowledgeable as he had played himself up to be. They said it seemed it was more about being able to brag than anything else and his history since seems to back that assertion up. James Yeager was over there for a very limited time before a screw up on his part cost some folks their lives. After that he was never able to find work overseas again. And honestly it does take a pretty substantial screw up for the companies to not use you after the money they spent on training, clearances, plane tickets and a lot of other costs. It is such a small community that a reputation, good or bad, stays with you and gets around rather quickly. His screw up is how Tactical Response was born, he was able to turn lemons into lemonade. I am glad he is able to rebound from what has happened but for me he is doing nothing more than duping people out of their money. He makes sure to mention he spent time working as a contractor but never mentions there are people dead because of HIS mistakes while doing it. He is like a lot of other high profile instructors out there (Pat Rogers). They market themselves well but have very little to actually offer. I have watched a lot of videos of his courses and all have a hill billy, hold my beer kind of unprofessional feel about them. There are plenty of other great schools out there for the money. They offer a lot more training without all the ego inflated chest thumping bravado James does. Dolomite -
My wife just finished at the DMV. They gave her an information sheet that says she will have to pay an additional $48 if she doesn't get fingerprinted before 7/30/2011. It is probably part of the vendor change but anyone starting the process now needs to complete it before July 30th. Dolomite

Lighten up Francis. I seriously doubt you are going to see the picture used as evidence in a case to take our guns away. Same thing in my eyes as what you see in hundreds of movies, art and nothing more. And honestly if someone wants to have a gun (that is if it is real) pointed at them more power to them because it is their choice. It is their life and who are we to dictate what they are comfortable with. Because you aren't comforatble with it doesn't mean they need to cater to your needs so you can feel comfortable. Dolomite -
