Practice isn't a bad thing but when it comes to reducing felt recoil a brake is the way to go. Nothing else is going to reduce it like a brake. The buffers, gas systems, or anything else isn't going to have the same effect. Most other methods don't reduce the felt recoil but extend the recoil over a larger amount of time. The brake actaully conteracts the recoil. Dolomite

I wouldn't put them to death. I would make it a mandatory life in prison without parole. That way they can spend every day of their life scared and wondering if today is the day the other inmates dole out a bit of inmate justice. Do not allow them to be placed in PC. Life in prison for a child molester is far more punishing than being put to death. Being put to death is way to humane for some of these animals. Dolomite

Conduct of Civil Process Server, Need Some Help.
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in General Chat
Had there been a reason for arrest the officers on scene would have arrested him. He was well within the law. Most creditors will work with you as long as you are making an honest effort. Trust me I have paid for medical care out of pocket because I can't get insurance, they will not send a process server to you house if you are making payments. And in order for me to pay I had to make sacrifices in other parts of my life. In order for a process server to get to your front door you have had to put forth ZERO effort in repaying your debt regardless of what the debt is. I know people who are paying $10 a month on a bill they will never live to pay off. They do not have process ervers pounding on their doors. I live on 1/4 of what I did before my helicopter accident. This has lead to some serious changes in how I spend my money. I only spend about 1/10th of what I did before the accident and that is so I can ensure I live within my means. Dolomite -
What ammo are you using? Some ammo has hard primers and can cause this. Had a friend with the exact same pistol have light strikes as well but it was because were were using handloads that had small rifle primers. The ammo worked fine in the Glock but didn't in the Ruger. Dolomite

Conduct of Civil Process Server, Need Some Help.

So what exactly don't you agree with? A debt is a debt regardless of the reason. Having a debt you can't pay is without a doubt caused by living beyond your means. The process server wouldn't be there if they were making payments, even small ones. It is when people refuse to pay that the civil process starts. And it is those refusals that are costing the economy. Dolomite -
Conduct of Civil Process Server, Need Some Help.

I don't agree with how the process server may have acted but this could have been all been avoided by your parents. As far as the officers go, it is their discretion on whether they want to verify someone or take their work for it. There is no police procedure that mandates the officer not use his discretion. They are not required to run everyone they come in contact with and in most cases they need probable cause. A person trying to serve a civil warrant is not probably cause to run someone. The officers did nothing wrong, zero, nil, nothing. You are misdirecting your anger. The officers are not "dumb ****s" for not doing what you think they should do. Trust me they can probably read people better than you. And exactly what are you looking to get legally against the process server? In civil court there is nothing you can sue him for. He was there legally, did no damage to your property and from the sounds of it only hurt someone's feelings because he served them. Can't come to court and sue when you are not in the right. And what criminal laws do you feel he broke that would lead to an arrest at a later date when officers on scene didn't arrest him? I can say none. If the officers on scene felt his actions didn't warrant an arrest you are not going to find another officer or even a DA, if he is a good one, to issue a warrant for his arrest. You can go and try to get a warrant issued yourself but it opens you up to a world of legal issues. It would be easy for his lawyer to say that the server didn't break any laws because the officers didn't arrest him at the scene. This would end with you getting sued and would probably loose. Now the tactics may have been a little rougher than what you are used to but in the end it isn't the process server's fault he was there. He had a legal right to be there. Also, how would you react if someone refused to pay you the amount owed? Would you just walk away and forget about it, I can say not. I am just as upset as you but for different reasons. I have paid my bills my entire life and lived within my means. If that meant my family or I had to do without then so be it. I am upset at those in the world who feel it is fine to run up a debt and then walk away leaving the rest of us to pick up the slack by paying higher rates and higher prices. That is what is wrong with the country today. People tried to live beyond their means and got caught. Now they want those who did the right thing to fix the problem. Dolomite -
Brakes make a huge difference in how your rifle will act. I have a 223 and a .22 and both feel nearly the same. I can follow up just as quickly with the 223 as the .22. The only thing about having a brake vs a hider is the concussion felt by the shooter and those next to him. It can be obnoxiously loud. I ran a Miculek for a while then found a deal on some on Ebay. They were all steel with a clamping ring to hold it in place and I think they work better than the Miculek but for the money you can't beat a Miculek. Definately try the cheapest one you can buy before spending a ton of money on one because some people like them and some don't. Dolomite

Too many inconsiderate $*#(@) in this world!!!

I caught a boy stealing mail, actually caught him numerous times over the course of 4-6 months. Contacted LE and was told they needed proof and that my eyewitness statement isn't good enough. They said I would have to call and LE show up while he is still in the mailbox or have video for them to do anything. I was told if I stopped him I could be charged if I detained him. I asked if they could at least just stop and look for others mail in the car based on my statement and they said they wouldn't. The kid even drove by while I was talking to one of the officers. Even if I did call my local LE takes a long time to respond to anything. Wife called 911 after she was robbed, took them 20 minutes to show up. At that point they said they would do a report because there was no sense in looking for them. Now nearly every mailbox on our road is a large, lockable mail box to keep the kid out. He moved about a year after all the mailboxes went up. Dolomite -
Spend $15 on a quality extractor. I suspect the extractor is too loose in the firing pin stop to maintain the correct clocked position. This is why it is random. Sometimes it is in the correct position and other times the extractor has rotated. While you are at it you may as well buy a new firing pin stop. Make sure both are from the same maker, I have used Ed Brown stuff for a very, very long time and never had an issue. And if your buy the Ed Brown extractor and firing pin stop they generally require no fitting but are very tight together. And finally, buy some quality grease. Put it on the rails, locking lugs and on the end of the barrel where it passes throguh the bushing. You would be surprized how much of a difference using grease on a 1911 can have on reliability. Or rather than mounting it in a rigid position use a spring. That way hopefully the damage will be minimal. But I suspect it will become a novelty if they discover it is a practice mailbox for them to practice their swing on. Dolomite -

I have wrote to them and called them on several occassions. The ATF has been great with me as well. I would call and ask a question then ask for a letter to backup what I was being told. Only on one occassion did the letter I receive not match what I was told. I called back and spoke to someone father up and they agreed the letter was wrong but would not reverse the decision of another agent. I think the key to dealing with the ATF is not to be afraid or deceptive. Dolomite -

The absolutely best cold blue is the Brownells Oxpho blue creme. It is thick, stays put and works. I have done complete guns before with it and it wears better than anything else I have tried. Dolomite -

Probably would be that hard to setup something like that. Perhaps a dual plate that, when struck, closes a circuit. That circuit then energizes a circuit going to a a sprinkler valve attached to a PVC tube being used as an air cylinder. The spinkler valve opens releasing air from the air cylinder in short order. Then on the other end of the valve have say, a bag of paint inside of a tube. As the air is released it forces the bag out or at least ruptures the bag, spraying the paint. The best part about it is you can have the switch at the mailbox and run the wiring to the actual launcher farther away but facing back at the mailbox. That way you get maximum paint spread. It would also be eaiser to "aim" to get good coverage of the suspect vehicle. There have been potato cannons made using a similar setup. The sprinkler valves run less than $20 and will run on a 9v battery. Then after that you just need an air cylinder to store the air and a "barrel" on the other side to lauch the payload. Probably cost less than $40 to build the entire thing from scratch. If I were to do it I would use water based paint that way you won't be held responsible for any permanent damage. And it would be likely most kids won't know the difference or even try to figure it out. Dolomite -

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to remove the SBR classification? The only reason I could see would be to sell the gin but with lowers so cheap I would just buy another lower and stick the SBR'd lower in the cabinet. Dolomite -

It isn't tht they are inconsiderate it is the fact that that they are jealous. It is the entitlement crowd who believes you can't have anything nice if they can't. It makes them feel better about themselves when they take away something nice from soneone else. I had someone do the same thing to my car once. I hadn't had it for a week when someone scratched it down to fiberglass. Dolomite -
I am not condoning the fathers actions, he went WAY overboard in how reacted. His over reaction is probably a clue to problems in his parenting style or possibly in his persoanl life as well. Most parents are probably pretty even tempered like most parents should be but in his case I suspect there has been a long series of over reactions on his part. It is probably his extremes that led the daughter to do what she did or at least think that what she was doing was ok. Another big problem in society today is parents are handicapped in how they can discipline their children. I am not talking about abusing or beating children. I am glad I never had a daughter but in raising my son, who is now 19 and entering the military, I tried to never to over react or under react when dealing with him. It is this that has made him react to most situations in a similar way and remaining calm. I also believe that my beliefs had a great influence on how he has lived his life and will live his life. One more thing, if you are LE, EMT, MIL or GOVT Glock LE dealers will sell to you for the LE discount. I know last year is was $397 +TICS. It would end up costing just shy of $450. That was for a standard frame Glocks. Dolomite

When I am buying I always haggle, worst they can say is no. I will haggle everything and pretty much anywhere I shop. I have even had managers come over to discuss discounts. You would be surpised who will give discounts if you ask, I am talking major retail stores. I recently got $70 off a $320 item just for finding it on the internet and asking the store to honor it. The biggest way to keep yourself from becoming a victim is the way you carry yourself. If you are not confident and aware the bad guys will notice. They are looking for those who they can use surprize in order to have the upper hand. Now if you are confident and at least appear aware the bad guys are likely going to pass. Always be aware of where you are and your surroundings. I always have my head on a swivel. I make mental notes of where I am and constantly running scenarios through my head. Something else, buy some of the Magpul Dynamic videos. Most of the critical training can be done in your living room or in your yard without firing a single shot. Muscle memory is the key to anything so the more you do something the easier it will be to do under stress. I have practiced mag changes as well as practiced drawing my EDC gun while watching television. I will tell myself the next person wearing say blue is a bad guy or the next blonde person on the screen is a bad guy. Helps with awareness as well as inducing a little bit of stress to the situation as you try to draw and fire before they leave the screen again. Another, cheaper, option is to look on Youtube. There are plenty of decent tutorials to help you get the basics down. And finally remember slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Don't expect to start out going 100 miles and hour, slowly build up to your top speed but above all else make sure you are doing it safely and correctly. Dolomite -
Dramatic Video Shows Gunmen Firing Into Philadelphia City Bus

At least the child will be with obviously better people. Spanking aside I wouldn't want a child anywhere near a family like that. I bet the women called and complained to her brother who in turned called up the shooters. Not sure if the women asked for the the brother to bring the shooters but at a minimum the brother and shooters should be charged. If she did ask for them then she as well as her brother should be charged with conspiracy to commit murder and the shooters cahrged with attempted murder. The degrees can be worked out later. Dolomite
