  1. Thanks. I think I am finally washing my hands of them all. When I don't let them into my life or even talk to them everything is fine. I don't speak to my brother but the second I open my mouth to talk to my mother the drama starts again. She wants money and gets upset if I don't give it to her. She tries to guilt me into it. She still owes me money but to her she doesn't need to pay it back because she is my mother. Honestly i don;t care if she does or not but don't ask for more and then get upset when I say no. My father is the one who creates a lot of the drama. A few on here have seen his antics first hand. I haven't said more than three words to my father in 2 years. He is a drunk and a bully to those he can bully. It all came to a head when he called one morning saying my brother went off the deep end and that my father was being held hostage. I contacted LE but they didn't want to respond based on my statement alone, they needed my father to call them. My father wouldn't call because my brother said he would kill anyone who called the cops. I asked how my brother would know I called and my father said he was going to tell my brother I called them. Later taht day I stopped to talk to my father and he got upset I had called the cops. I told my father I wasn't going to put up with my brother's antics and my father said if the cops showed up at his house he would "take care of me" while making a finger pistol at me. That was the last time we really spoke and I will never speak to him again. Hell, I won't even go to his funeral. I ask about them through friends but I will never talk to them again. My life is better without their drama and it saves me money. I am honestly happier now than I have ever been now that they are no longer in my life. Sure they show their ass from time to time but at this point it is almost comical. What does worry me though is my brother because he has tried on two seperate occassions to kill us. Both times he was released from jail and all charges dropped. His drug use has screwed his mind up so bad he is diagnosed with a mental disorder and they use that diagnosis as the reason to drop the charges. Funny thing is he sells his prescription meds to fund his illegal drug habit. My brother steals checks and gets released when he gets caught doing that. He took out thousands of dollars in loans on my parents property but because he doesn't have a bank account the lenders can't get their money and can't take the property becaue my father said he didn't know about it. I seriously think my father is the one who put my brother up to it or at least knew about it. My brother has assaulted our mother numerous times but my father threatens her if she says she is calling the cops. My brother has some diseases and had festering staph infections all over his body. He got upset at our mother and squeezed a bunch of puss into his hands and slapped her with it. He pushed her to the ground the day he tried to kill us. He has destroyed several cars during his fits of rage. He has gotten their cars impounded and got upset when they wouldn't give them back to him. He would sell all his stuff then threaten my mother if she didn't go get them out of pawn. And when she would he would take them right back. She racked up $50K worth of credit card debt because of my brother threatening her if she didn't give him money. At one point my mother stood up to him and he said he would kill himself if she didn't. He tried to run her off the road on 40. I finally took my mother and got her to get a restraining order against my brother. My father tried to intervene but I amde sure my mother went through with it. When my mother got home she had to leave her house and live somewhere else. My father told her she had to because it was all her fault for getting the restraining order and that my brother wasn't going to just be put out on the streets. She lived with my sister for about 3 months until my brother finally did leave. This is only a drop in the bucket of what all has happened in my family. The stuff my father and mother have done to their only grandson, my son, is absolutely miserable. My sister is the only decent one and we talk a couple of times a month. Her daughter used to come and visit us but since I won't speak to my father or mother that has pretty much stopped. Anyways, I am done literally and figuratively. Dolomite
  2. Ammunition generally goes from the maker to a distributor then to the store warehouse then to the store itself. There are plenty of places the damage could have occurred after it left the manufacturing plant. When the store receives a shipment of ammunition the box will contain several different kinds and makes of ammunition. The stock boy could have been careless and accidentally dropped the individual box of ammo on the floor while carrying it to the shelf. Dropping a full box of ammo on a hard floor could have easily seated a bullet or two deeper. Where did you buy the ammunition? Even though Walmart has a no return policy on the ammunition they can give you a gift card for the amount or even more. I was in a Walmart when a customer bought the wrong ammunition, absolutely 100% his fault. He came back to the store and threw a temper tantrum that would put any two year old to shame. Anyways the customer waited on the manager. He told the manager that the clerk should have known what kind of ammunition a revolver takes. Even standing in the store the customer didn't even know what type of ammunition his revolver took other than the 357 sig didn't fit in the cylinder. The customer made himself look like a complete and utter idiot with how he was acting. He would huff, make the "psst" sound, look away and stomp his feet when the manager was trying to explain the no return policy. I even offered to buy the ammo for what he paid for it then he got snippy with me so I told to keep it. At that point the manager handed him a $20 gift card, the ammo cost $14 I think, and told the customer to just keep the ammo. The customer got upset again because the manager wouldn't let him leave the ammunition. I spoke to the clerk later and he said he tried to help the customer but he was adament his revolver took 357 Sig and not 357 magnum. Dolomite
  3. I am going to pass on the property on the day of the auction. Too much fishy sounding stuff going on and according to a few others it doesn't sound right. It may not even be an auction as it is being sold by an out of state law firm and not an auction company. The owner, until the day of the auction, is an agent that buying and selling proerties for some time. He has a bunch of properties in his name right now. He has been in the busines for a while and knows what he is doing which is a red flag if it goes for less than he bought it for. He is unwilling to discuss anything about the property, his attorneys are unwilling to discuss anything about the property, the bank(s) that hold the note is unwilling to discuss anything about the property. Just to much for me to risk at the moment. Thanks all Dolomite
  4. My wife received hers last week after a little over 3 weeks. Dolomite
  5. I carry 100% of the time. I carry two fullsize guns(not at the same time), one is an all steel 1911 and the other is a 16+1 9mm Taurus. It does get bothersome, especially when I am already having my problems. But I know that when I decide to give myself a break and stop carrying that Murphy is going step up. I received my HCP November of 2008 and have spent about 2 hours without carrying since. That two hours was when I sold my EDC gun but didn't have another with me. Dolomite
  6. It has gottne worse since the last time I spoke about it. A few months ago we had a anti gun neighbor show up as I was showing some kids basic firearms stuff. They were shooting some 22's and had just started shooting some skeet when he showed up. He was yelling about how could anybody afford to shoot as much as I do. I told him I reload and offered to let him shoot as well but his disgusted face showed his opinions of guns. At that point my wife walked out of the house because of all his yelling. She asked him to tone it down and that there was no need to yell. He got right in her face and yelled that he wasn't talking to her. At that point I also I told him he needed to calm down. He didn't so I told him he needed to leave and he said I don't give a **** what you want. I told him he didn't need to cuss in front of the kids that were there. He got even more upset began cussing even more about how we don't need to shoot up here. He said he was going to call the cops and we told him to. We told him go ahead they have been called before and they side with us. He then got really upset that we weren't going to follow his wishes. At that point I asked to come into the yard to talk to get him away from the guns because he was getting rather upset that we weren't going to stop shooting. I told him I would give him my number and he could call me and I would not shoot for the day he was going to be on his property. He didn't like that saying he shouldn't have to call and that I just don't need to be shooting. I told him that wasn't going to happen and he cussed a bit more and left. After that we put a gate up to keep people from coming up. And since then he hasn't showed up but has honked his horn anytime he thinks we should stop shooting. We are safe in what we do so we don't stop. After this he decided to take another approach. He contacted my parents which own the proerty between him and I. He told them that when I am shooting he can hear my bullets wizzing by his head all the time. He also told them there are bullets all over the road where he enters his property. He told them I am probably going to kill him or a kid with my shooting and is surprized I haven't yet. My parents believed him and put up a sign saying not to shoot onto their proerty anymore. I went to talk to my mother about it and she said that my father put it up. I said that is fine I will just make sure to hit only the steel targets from now on. I said I have always yelled to make sure people weren't in any danger or anywhere down range. I told her that from now on I will not give any more warnings because I will be shooting at steel. I also told her that I will make sure my bullets do not pass over her property. She said she didn't want me shooting the steel targets either. I told her call the cops or sue me if you think I am doing something wrong. I told her realistically there is nothing she can do because what I am doing is perfectly legal and perfectly safe. There have been a lot of problems for over 10 years now, basically since we moved up here. My drunk of a father tries to bully anyone and everyone he can but I won't have it. That makes him mad so he tries to instigate problems so he can claim to be the good guy. My mother would borrow money all the time and buy drugs for my brother with it. Then she would never pay it back and act all butt hurt when I told her I didn't more. We didn't talk for over a year when I told her no more cash for my brother's drugs. I told her I would buy her whatever she needs but no more cash. A few months later is when my brother tried to kill my family and I with an AK. He was able to claim his mental problem as an excuse and got released after a few weeks in Lake Shore. Even to this day he tells anyone who will listen he is going to finish what he started and kill my family and I. The reason? Because we wouldn't give him money for drugs anymore. In short, yes we do need to move. Anyways hate to rehash all this crap again but it is a bit of a stress relief. Dolomite
  7. Taurus has been hit and miss with me as far as their customer service. I ordered a pistol and erceived it without a the tritium front sight it was supposed to have. The out of state dealer I ordered from recommended I take possession of the gun and then contact Taurus about getting a new sight. I contacted Taurus before taking possession of the pistol and they wanted the gun to be returned to them for the sight install. I refused and called the dealer back who in tunr called Taurus. The dealer assured me Taurus was sending out a new sight. I signed for the gun and took it home. A few days later I called Taurus to check on the sight and was told it would be weeks and that the sights were going to be standard, not tritium, sights. In the end I spent an additional $65 on a new tritium front sight. I got so disgusted with the whole thing that I sold the gun the second I had the correct sight installed. I like the platform so much I ordered another and ahve been happy ever since. As a matter fo fact my wife's new EDC gun is going to be a Taurus as well. My most recent CS issue with them was when I broke a part. It was no ones fault by my own so I called to order the part. I paid and received the part about a week later. The part was the wrong part so I called back to complain. They agreed it was a mix up and said they would send the correct part out but I didn't have to return the wrong part. Turned out I was able to use the wrong part with a little clearancing and as a matter of fact it worked better than the correct part. Taurus has gotten better but it is no where near the level of a lot of other major manufacturers. My offer still stands if you decide to try to tackle it yourself. Dolomite
  8. You are right, AK then finished with a pistol. In the show it was hard to tell with their editing. Dolomite
  9. Already contacted those who are auctioning the property. It isn't an auction company, it is a law firm that is conducting the sale. They apparently handle foreclosure sales and similar stuff. They are based out of state and coming up to auction the property. I asked if there were any liens on the property and they said I needed to hire a lawyer and do a title search to find out. They did say that my bid would be paid to their law firm and that if there are any other liens that they would become my responsibility and the new owner. There are no properties listed in the surounding counties for the owner other than him being a trustee for several properties. It is all really, really confusing for me as well as others who deal with stuff like this. I will find out the week prior to the sale what the "starting bid" is going to be but without knowing about additional liens or encumberances it is hard to realistically figure out how much I could afford. My only hope is that is doesn't sell at the auction because at that point it becomes a bank owned property and life gets a lot easier for me to figure out. Dolomite
  10. Already been through all of that. Started with that about 3 weeks ago. Dozens of phone calls as well as a lot of rumors and chasing of my tail. Now I am pretty confident I know where it stands I just need to make sure it is being auctioned off without any encomberances. He has several properties listing him as a trustee (he is a realtor). That is what has got me worried. If a realtor with additional properties let one go into foreclosure it makes me a bit leary. But the property is an amazing property even if it goes higher than I want to spend. The foreclosure price is about 1/4 what the property is realistically worth. He may have gotten behind on one payment and the bank latched on and didn't allow him to make it up because the bank knew they could easily make a profit. Problem is if the residence being auctioned isn't his primary residence the auction winner will assume any and all debts on the property at the time of the same. That was told to me by the attorneys handling the sale as well as an independent attorney. If it was his primary residence it sells for the auction price with no encumberances. Dolomite
  11. I am looking for someone that can do a title search. Pricing right now and the cheaper the better. I am just needing to find out if a residence that is coming up for auction was the primary residence of the homeowner or a secondary residence. Thanks Dolomite
  12. He was on TruTv's Dumbest Hillbillies. He was the first one on. It showed him carving a pumpkin with a pistol and cutting down a Christmas tree with a shotgun. I don't think they didn't beat him up too bad. If nothing else is just proves a lesson. Anything on the internet is fair game to others, friends and enemies alike. Dolomite
  13. PM me if you want to get together on your trip to Knoxville. I would be glad to install the extractor and firing pin stop as well as give your gun a once over. Also, it isn't going to cost you anything other than some time. Dolomite
  14. That might be the problem as well. But I suspect it clocking is causing more of an issue because it is more random. Any way you shake it you probably need another extractor and probably a firing pin stop. 1911 AUTO FIRING PIN STOP - Brownells 1911 AUTO MATCH EXTRACTOR - Brownells They are a tight fit but they generally do not need to have any fitting between the two. When putting them in first make sure the firing pin stop goes into place without the extractor in place. Next check the fit between the extractor and the side of the firing pin stop. If they fit together, like I said they are going to be snug, then you should be good to go. To make installation easier do this. First install the extractor and get it close. Next put the firing pin stop in place without the firing pin in place. This helps make sure the firing pin stop and extractor are in proper alignment without the pressure from the firing pin spring. The extractor should be tight enough to stay put without the firing pin stop in place. After they go together the firing pin stop seats all the way, slide it back just enough to insert the firing pin and spring. Push those down and slide the firing pin stop bsck into place. It also seems that the extractor hook needs to be closer to the cartridge itself in the pictures. If it will not hold the cartridge in place then there is a tension issue but the tension can be adjusted. The nose is also a bit too far forward and there is no way to correct that really. You could try filing the nose a bit more but there isn't enough material to totally fix the problem. This pushes the cartridge forward off the breech face when not in the locked position. In the locked position the extractor is being pushed away from the cartridge by the angled potion of the rim. This could be tweeking your extractor and causing it to loose tension because it is being flexed with every shot. A 1911 extractor isn't desined to flex or bend all the time, the cartridge rim slides in under the extractor hook during cycling. You should never drop the slide on a loaded round in a 1911 as it will cause extractor isses eventually. Dolomite
  15. I have carried 44 special revolver as well as an officer's 1911 in my rear pocket before. Most people are oblivious to their surroundings so most people will never notice. I have made a few holsters for freinds to hide their pocket pistols. The holster looks like a wallet yet holds a pistol. Dolomite
  16. That was the holy grail for the people I was collaborating with. We decided that a tumbling bullet was easier to get than a reliable HP at reduced velocities. Another advantage is a tumbling bullet generally had more surface area than an expanded bullet. There are some amazing designs out now that weren't even available a few years ago. I guess with all the new found popularity of suppressors and subsonic cartridges it can only get better. Dolomite
  17. It is common for them to protrude a little from the rear of the slide. This is so they can be sanded flush for a better looking fit. Most replacement extractors are also gong to be long. Dolomite
  18. There was a thread a while back that addressed this. Not so much from a 380 point of view but from a how effective certain calibers are. Here is my take on it. There are two types of incapcitation physical and psychological. A physical incapcitation is going to be a hit to the CNS or some other immdiately vital organ like the heart. Any other hits may lead to an incapcitation but requires blood loss which can take time depending on what has been hit. A femoral artery shot takes but a few minutes to physically incapacitate while a muscle tissue wound may never physically incapacitate a person. Psychological is when someone feels like they have been incapcitated. Not that they have sustained a hit that physically incapcitates them but something they feel should incapacitate them. I relayed a story of a guy who was shot at with a 38 caliber revolver loaded with blanks as part of training. The student fell to the ground leaving the RSO to think a live round had made it into the chamber but it didn't. The student felt he had been incapacitated so he fell to the ground unresponsive. This would be an example of a psychological incapacitation. Life experiances as well as training can affect this but no amount of training is going to affect a physical incapacitaiton. With that being said a 380 can incapacitate, both physically and psychologically. Is it as effective as other calibers? Hard to say because every situation is different and every victim of the shooting is different. I would not feel undergunned with a 380 but I would prefer something more. It all comes down to preference and convience. If I got tired of carrying my heavy full sized guns, which I am getting there, I wouldn't mind having a 380. Dolomite
  19. Not to mention Glock's propensity to kaboom. Dolomite
  20. Not likely. I seriously doubt the criminal is going to wait around after robbing a place to get patron as they exit. Even if he does he won't stay around after the police arrive. You are a witness and it would be silly to leave the premises before you could be a good witness for the police. When you shoot someone, even if you are 100% in the right, there are legal as well as financial ramifications. This is especially true if you are not in your residence. Even if you are trying to do the right thing it will cost you when you pull that trigger. It is just a matter of what you are risking it for. For me preventing a robbery isn't a reason for me to shoot someone but saving a life is a reason and until the bad guy shows he is going to take a life I will be a witness. Dolomite
  21. I would be a good witness, nothing else unless the bad guy begins shooting. In shooting him you may be in the right legally, but it still doesn't prevent him or his family from finding some pro bono attorney to sue you in civil court. I know there is a law that prevents it but you still have to go before a judge in order for it to be thrown out. Perhaps the judge doesn't feel you acted how you should have and sides with the criminal's attorney allowing the civil trial to proceed. I would never trust the justice system to side with me so I would have to hire an attorney and attorneys aren't cheap. And as OhShoot pointed out by firing at the bad guy it may cause him to escalate the situation beyond what he had intended. And if it appears that was the case I am sure the victim's attorneys would also try to blame you for escalating situation. We have become such a litigious society that people sue over anything and everything. They even try to sue those who are not even responsible in hopes of getting a payday. I, for one, do not want to trust my life and livelihood to the system as it stands today. It is not a justice system it is only a legal system where justice rarely prevails. Dolomite
  22. I'll also agree. It is second nature for me to try different ammo so it normally slips my mind when making recommendations. Extractors aren't some sort of vodoo magic. I found that the last time I replaced mine I used a Ed Brown extractor with his firing pin stop. It required no fitting between the two. I figured I would try it without tweaking the extractor and it has been fine for over 1,000 rounds now. Took about 5 minutes to swap them out and it works wonderfully now. Dolomite
  23. Not really. The extractor, if not properly fitted, can rotate in its slot and change it clock position with every fired round. And when it rotates out of the correct position it can cause problems. Dolomite
