  1.   Yeah, that is a whole lot more dangerous than a gun.
  2. Kind of off subject but what would happen or how would you act if you do not take your medications?   Not everyone who can own a firearm should own a firearm. I am not saying that is the case with you but you need to take a really hard, and honest, look at yourself to determine that. If YOU think you will be fine, and have not been committed or had a judge weigh in on your case, then buy the firearm. And by fine I mean when you can't or don't take your medications. A lot of people with mental conditions think they can stop taking their medications and that can end with bad results. If that describes what would happen if you quit taking your medications then you might take a really hard look at whether you should really be owning a firearm.   We just do not want anyone to use a firearm to harm themselves or others if it can be helped.   Good luck.
  3. Where are you seeing M855 non-magnetic?
  4. If you are scrubbing the barrel after each range session don't. Savages shoot better when fouled, or at least the ones I have did.
  5. Or perhaps let members vote them off, kind of like Survivor. Let the staff review any permanent bans before it is permanent. Or perhaps let members vote to give someone 24 hours to cool off if things are going bad, kind of like a way to let his fellow members protect them from themselves.   Would add a unique dimension to the board that is no where else on the internet.
  6. If I won very little would change except I would help more. No way I could ever spend it all so I would be helping more than I do now. My wife and I have dreamed about starting a rescue of some sort and the winnings would ensure we would be able to do good on a much larger scale.
  7. If need be I can come out of retirement but this is not it. Waiting for the right one to make my return as epic as possible.
  8. Looks great George.
  9. My wife is a permanent resident alien and she got her HCP.
  10. There are no legal requirements to notify them of any changes such as caliber or length. They suggest you notify them but legally it is not required.
  11. Oh, and one more thing. Savages generally shoot better than Remingtons. That is fact. Now some individual guns might perform better or worse but if you put 10 Remingtons against 10 Savages the group of Savages will outshoot the group of Remingtons.
  12. Ok, there are other physical differences.   ALL long actions will be the same regardless of when they were made. That is all the stocks interchange between long action guns. But, there always is a but, there is a difference in barrel shanks for those of you that plan on swapping barrels. The long actions can have either a large shank or a small shank but 90% of them are going to be small shank barrels.   For short actions there are differences as well. Actions made before ~2006 will have a action screw spacing of 4.27" while actions made after that will have action screw spacing of 4.40". This matters if you plan on swapping stocks. ALL short actions that have a flat rear receiver, like a R700, will be 4.27". Round back actions will be 4.27" or 4.40", depending on when they were made. Basically anything after 2006 will be 4.40". Additionally some short actions also have large shank barrels but they are extremely rare and the odds of finding one is about the same as hitting the powerball.   The only two 100% reliable ways to tell whether a gun has the newer 4.40" spacing is this. If it has a cocking indicator at the rear of the bolt it will ALWAYS be the new action. And if the bolt release lever is under the gun and not on the side then it will be a 4.40" gun. But, if it doesn't have a cocking indicator it does not mean it is a new action.   I have heard people say another way to tell a new action from an old action is the accutrigger but that is not 100% correct. It is mostly correct but not all accutrigger guns will be 4.40".   And finally, do not assume that if it is bought new it will be the later, better, action because I have bought brand new Savages 10 years after they were produced as new guns.   Guns that have the accustock ALWAYS are the new 4.40" receiver. But that does not matter because it uses a unique recoil lug making it impossible to swap stocks unless you disassemble the gun and install a traditional recoil lug.   None of this matters if you are buying it to leave it completely stock.   And why would any of this matter? Because if you buy a Savage made before ~2006 and it has an issue Savage will NOT honor their lifetime warranty. Even if it is a manufacturer's defect they refuse to send parts, accept it for repair or do anything to correct the issue. That is because in ~2006 Savage was sold off and the new owners are refusing to honor any previously made guns. Additionally, parts for the earlier gun are very hard to find on the secondary market. You can modify the newer parts to work on the older guns but it requires experience to know what must be done to make them safe.     The Savage Axis/Edge is a completely different action and the ONLY thing that will interchange is the barrels.   And finally, if anyone has any questions regarding Savages feel free to send me a PM. I am intimately familiar with the Savage action and what it takes to get them to shoot better than they already do. I have tweaked factory guns and the results are sub .4" groups at 100 yards using all factory parts.   Give me a call sometime Kevin so we can discuss. Also, next time you come out I will show you what to look for.
  13. I wonder how many people are going to be hassled when their CLEO is told about a pending NFA transfer. I know my current CLEO is against NFA, and guns in general, in the hands of citizens. Last time he was in office it took the attorney general to get him to realize he MUST sign. I know for a FACT my current sheriff has ZERO problems sending officers to people's houses to "fish".   Also, who is notifying CLEO of a pending transfer/build? Would it require documentation that the CLEO has been notified? I can see it being used to screw us if it requires the CLEO to sign something acknowledging they have been notified. Also, what happens if you notify then later the sheriff claims you did not?   We shall see how things work as I plan on waiting until 41p goes into effect to see what the process is.
  14. Just got word from an industry partner that it appears the CLEO signoff requirement of 41p is going away.
  15. I wonder what she is trying to tell us when he eats his own poo? Perhaps she is trying to tell us that she is full of, well, you know what.
  16. Personally I wish animals who are abused could receive restitution of some sort. The abuser should pay for ALL medical bills related to the care and treatment. If the abuse caused ANY permanent injuries then the abuser should be required to pay a reasonable amount for food and lodging for the remainder of the animal's life or until the animal is adopted. If the animal never gets adopted then they would pay for the remainder of the animal's life. And along with that they would have to pay those who manage the animal's care and housing. Maybe when abusers have cash money taken out of their pockets they will think twice before abusing another animal.   And also I believe criminal penalties should be similar to that if they did the same to a human but at a reduced rate. Get 10 years for aggravated assault on a human then aggravated assault on an animal should be a percentage of that. And that percentage doubles with each separate, subsequent offense.   People think animals do not feel or think but I can assure you they do. My Lilly can tell when I am not feeling well and she does to comfort me. If I do something she does not like she tells me too. And she gets sad as well and I can see it in her eyes when she it. Just like when Gus is not feeling good he does get a little cranky too and you can tell.   People who intentionally hurt animals for no good reason have probably been abused themselves at some point in their life. And we all know that those who have been abused generally go on to abuse their own families in some way and animal abuse is a precursor to that. I would be willing to bet there are some on here who can bear witness to that.
  17. The buffer tubes are the same. When they say it fits either A1 or A2 they are talking about guns with either an A1 or A2 STOCK already installed. The difference is one STOCK requires the use of a spacer while the other does not but the tubes themselves are the same.   Any rifle buffer tube/receiver extension will work. If you have a stock that uses the spacer just remove the spacer and install the stock.   Again, the A1 or A2 designation has nothing to do with the tube itself but refers to the type of stock already installed.     ETA: https://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=3&f=127&t=623571
  18.   That is not a compliment here in the south. It is a veiled way of calling someone an idiot. Fortunately most people who are told this ARE to stupid to realize they have just been insulted.
  19.   Welcome to the other part of Tennessee, the part that is filled with ugly, disgusting people.       I would have a very, very hard time not doing "something" on behalf of the puppies. My father would shoot puppies right after they were born when I was a child. .22's were cheaper than getting the dog fixed so anytime one of our dogs had puppies he thought he could not sell he would dig a hole, drop them in and shoot them. He would tell me, at age 8 or 9, to do shoot them but when I would refuse I would get punished. One of the other ways I would get punished is he would kill, or make disappear, any dog I became attached to. So I have ZERO sympathy for anyone who would hurt any animal for no reason. People, in general, are sick and it is getting worse every day. My mind cannot comprehend what the average person is capable of any more. Every day I read about infants being abused or killed. Or that someone killed someone else for, literally, nothing. Or the amount of grief people cause to their fellow man just to get a laugh.   My wife rescued a kitten this year out of an engine bay. The owner of the truck said it had been in there for two days screaming but never bothered to even try to save it. My wife saved it in less than a minute and most of that was getting the owner's fat, lazy ass to open the hood. I guess he was waiting for it to become weak enough to fall out and die. And this is the husband of our postmaster who knew about it but also did nothing to rescue the kitten.       I would have a very, very hard time even acknowledging a person like this, well other than calling them a few choice names they had probably heard their entire life.
  20. I read a report that there are tons of tankers sitting in the gulf waiting on prices to climb. I went and checked a live shipping map and there does seem to be a lot of ships not doing a lot of moving in the gulf.
  21. Merry Christmas!
  22. Sounds great. Must be the varmint model or something called something like that. They also take 10/22 magazines so you can pick up 25 round Ruger BX magazines and have a lot of trigger time before reloading.
  23. They are generally the lightest bullets you can find. Something in the 33-40 grain range. I have a bunch of boxes of 33 grain bullets I am saving for a 22 Jet project.
  24. When I first started powder coating bullets using solvent I would add other materials to the mix. I have tried boron nitride as well as powdered copper but could not see a difference in performance with or without.
  25. I will be the Black Sheep.   Merry Christmas!
