AK playing card auction for charity
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
Remember you are donating to YOUR charity of choice. I get nothing, you send me nothing and I send you these cards. I know they are just playing cards but try buying a set. Can't find them anywhere for sale as the go fund me is over and all sets have been sold. Just trying to get some people to do something worthwhile for their local community. You will get an unopened box of cards shipped to you on my dime. -
One of our local postmen has been caught stealing checks and other holiday mail. He is still working and still doing it. Same guy even walked in on a friend's wife as she was taking a shower. When she got out and caught him he ran out saying he was delivering a package but no package was ever found. I have had them toss high end barrels in the weeds next to the mailbox and mark them delivered to the door. I found them after two days of getting rained on. I ordered some reading materials and they were too big for mailbox. What did they do? They left them on top of the mailbox while it was pouring down rain. The books were water damaged but they refused to do anything saying they were delivered dry and that the rain was not their fault. It had been pouring down rain for a day or two when they delivered it. But according to them they are not responsible for "acts of God", like rain. I use the USPS but only for low dollar items, less than the included insurance. I have tried to file claims in the past and their requirements are insane. Had a Russian scope go missing while in transit. A week or so after it was supposed to be delivered I we to the post office to start a claim. They said in order for me to file a claim I needed to have the original receipt from the original manufacturer. I told them is was a rare Russian scope and I could not get a receipt but did tell them it was sold at auction so that should be a fair value. Their response was that is was an old, junk scope and worthless despite it being sold for $300+. Luckily it showed up a few days later. Oh, and just because you have $1,000 insurance on something doesn't mean you get $1,000 if it gets destroyed or goes missing. That just means that is the most they will pay and they often pay a lot less. Then there was the whole debacle where I paid extra for hand sorting of my trigger kits. I had to replace all those that were mailed that day after the sorting machine ripped open the packages. I contacted them and they said I should have paid for hand sort. I showed them the receipt and then they just shrugged and asked what I wanted them to do. I told them to replace the contents and they said they would not file a claim over a couple of small screws. I asked for free shipping on the replacement packages I had to send and they said they were not allowed to do that. So I was out close to $100 and the post office did nothing. Here is what happened when someone sent me some whistles made out of 223 cases. BTW, they are both supposed to look the same and not flattened. And here is the excuse, it was received damaged. I can guarantee the sender did not send it through a sorting machine before mailing.

Doing it yourself is easy enough. There are a couple of things that I do to make sure they are perfect. First it taping the action. I us electrical tape because it stretches and conforms to corners better. Basically anywhere you do not want the bedding material to touch you must tape off. I normally start taping the receiver at the stock line and put a line of tape on the receiver above the stock. I tape off the stock where the bedding material will squeeze out and onto the stock. Make sure to tape off the front, sides and bottom of the recoil lug but not the rear of the recoil lug. I Once the trigger, top of the action and anywhere else you do not want bedding material is taped off you need to apply release agent. Everyone who does this has their favorite release agent, I use clear Kiwi shoe polish. Do not be stingy with the shoe polish and put it everywhere. I completely coat the receiver, the tape and the first 12" of the barrel. You also need to coat the action screws with shoe polish to keep them from glued in. To prep the stock you need to do a few things. First is you want to roughen up the channel where the action will go as well as about 1" in front of the recoil lug. Then build a clay dam about 1" in front of the recoil lug. To ensure the barrel is perfectly centered in the stock mark the barrel at the end of the stock. Then wrap enough tape around the barrel so that the tape is the same diameter as the barrel channel. This will ensure the barrel is perfectly centered in the stock, both side to side as well as level with the stock. Next I mix the compound. I use Devcon steel putty and it is as good as anything out there. Marinetex is another that works well but you cannot buy it in single use tubes like Devcon. Once it is mixed you want to use enough to cover the sides of the receiver receiver, the recoil lug and the first 1" of the barrel. Do not put any on the receiver, only in the stock. I normally only go about a 1/2" down from the edge of the stock if it has a magazine. Now it is time to screw everything together. Start by lightly setting the receiver into the stock forward by about 1/8" of the final position. Then push on the muzzle to force the recoil lug against he recess in the stock. Start the action screw at the rear. Next start the front action screw but do not tighten it. Now set the gun on the butt and will applying pressure under the barrel snug, not tighten, the rear action screw. Keep pressure on the underside of the barrel and snug down the front action screw. Go back and tighten the rear and then the front action screws while applying pressure under the barrel. The barrel will begin to pull itself down onto the tape you have added to the barrel to keep it centered in the barrel channel of the stock. Now it is time to clean up some of the excess. Don not worry about cleaning up the junction between the stock and receiver. You just want to remove big clumps for now. Then in a 3-4 hours come back and remove all the tape. The junction should break cleanly but if it doesn't use a razor blade to create a break line. Now wait 24 hours for a complete cure. All this should be done in normal hours temperatures and there is a reason for this. Now if you have done everything right it should be done and nothing should be glued together. The way I remove the receiver from the stock is this. First I remove the action screws completely. You cannot lift the action out of the receiver and it will feel like you have glued everything together but you have not. Set the gun outside or in a freezer for an hour or so. Remove it then while holding it by the barrel take a rubber mallet and hit the top of the receiver. It might sound like a 22 going off as it breaks free and the stock should fall away. If it doesn't then hit it a few more times and all should be good. The ONLY reason why it would not is because of two reasons, one you did not use enough shoe polish. You should cover every square inch of the gun. The second reason is the bedding compound got into a crease somewhere and has locked it in place. JB weld seems like a perfect bedding compound but it is not. It is very brittle and has nothing in it to toughen it up. Devcon Steel Putty has steel in and you can easily tell a different between the two when you start filing on it. If you are ever in the Knoxville area bring the gun and I will help YOU do it for yourself.

There we go. Here is the gofund me. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gunwebsites/ak47-identification-playing-cards Not sure if these will ever be available again. Here are some links to give you more information about these. http://soldiersystems.net/2015/08/03/gun-websites-visual-ak-47-recognition-playing-cards/ http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/08/05/ak47-id-playing-cards/ -
The ones here: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/94935-something-kind-of-cool/ So here is how this is going to work. Rather than someone donate to a charity of my choice I want the winner to pick the charity of there choice. The only thing I ask is PLEASE donate to a charity local to you. So bid the amount you are willing to donate. You can keep the tax write off as the only thing I want to do is help a local charity. Highest bid by midnight March 1st will be the winner. I will notify the winner, you are not the winner until I notify you. Once the winner has donated to the charity of their choice I will mail the cards out. Do not edit your post with a higher amount. If you want to bid more make a new post. This will help me keep track of who the winner is. If the post office destroys the deck of cards I will not replace it, refund the value or investigate why it was destroyed. Good luck and remember you are bidding to help those in need. I will start the bid at $20

Trump has no allegiance. He has already said he will run against the Republican candidate if he doesn't get the nomination. And all that will do is ensure Hillary will be the next president. She has already said gun owners are terrorists so you can imagine the hell she will bring when she becomes president. And Trump is ok with that. He has not always been a friend to conservatives. Trump is appealing to our version of the low information voters. I bet when Hillary gets elected Trump will get a cabinet seat or some sort of appointment for all the help he has given to Hillary. I still believe he is in the race to ensure she wins. Again, look at who Trump socializes with to understand where his allegiances are.

Oh, the stories I could tell about the Volunteer Rifle and Pistol Club here in Knoxville. They had an agreement to give the Boy Scouts the brass to recycle. One of the RSO's would dig through the brass for himself then trade it for gun parts. I have watched them hold their vest pocket open to catch people's brass and they would have contests. So I painted the base of my 45 ACP with pink paint and went to the range. The RSO was stealing my brass so I confronted him. He told me to prove the brass was mine and I said they are pink. He looked in his hand then flipped his hand, dumping them back on the floor. That was one of the last times I went of my own free will.

I just got approved as well, well 3-4 months ago. Mine will be all titanium except for the all steel LID. -
I do not believe these are still available. I know the crowd funding is over.

Cruz's resume. But it seems as though it does not matter. Reported wide spread voter fraud in Nevada. Volunteers handing out ballots were wearing Trump campaign clothing. Reported that those who were voting for Trump were given multiple ballots. http://www.politico.com/blogs/2016-gop-primary-live-updates-and-results/2016/02/disarray-nevada-caucuses-219702

Last year I had a Go Fund Me come up on another website I hang out in. It was for a deck of cards with all the various kinds of AKs from different countries and in different configurations. Well after donating and him getting enough dough together he was able to produce these. I opened one for everyone to see what all is inside. These are as high quality as any playing card I have ever played with. They also give all the information for that particular model like caliber, country and anything unique to that model. And these remind me of the old Army recognition cards we would get in the Army. And now some pictures. Spades are Russian guns Hearts are Chinese guns Clubs are German guns Diamonds are Bulgarian guns On some of the individual cards like the Joker, and a few others, they have more than one listed. So I have one opened deck and two sealed decks. One of those sealed decks is staying with me but I will be auctioning off the last remaining deck. Not sure on where the proceeds will go yet but it will go to benefit someone other than myself. Just be on the look out for the auction thread please.

First thing I would start off with is an adjustable gas block. I can almost guarantee that your 5.56 AR is over gassed which is why recoil is as bad as it is. I have a 5 pound AR that recoils less than most 8 or 9 pound ARs. The reason is it is perfectly gassed. Same goes for your 300 Blackout if you shoot supersonic ammunition out of a gun that can cycle subsonic rounds. So if your gun runs fine with subsonic ammunition you must have an adjustable gas block for shooting supersonic ammunition or with a silencer. This is the biggest source of an AR's felt recoil. But not only does it reduce felt recoil and make follow up shots quicker it also makes the gun more reliable. That is because the gun unlocks a little later resulting in less crud in the receiver and a cleaner gun. And because you can adjust it you can get rid of most of the blow back when shooting with a silencer. So no more crud in the shooter's face when shooting with a silencer. And with a tunable gas system you do not need heavy buffers so you can reduce weight as well. And as far as muzzle devices I like the Miculek brake. It is cheap and works very, very well. It is louder for the shooter and those around him/her but they do work.

And Rubio was wanting to give illegals amnesty. I would never vote for him because of that. This should scare anyone away from voting for him.

If you are not going to be switching a lot most any adjustable gas block will work. If you are going to switch back and forth a lot Micro MOA makes a very nice adjustable block but it is expensive. I use gas blocks from BTE, they make a micro gas block that is adjustable. -
Need barrel counterboring or recessing work done
Dolomite_supafly replied to Patton's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Actually probably not. Not too many uses for it other than specialty work. I honestly cannot think of any reason to have a 45 LC reamer. That is unless you are building one off guns and not too many smiths in Tennessee building guns from the ground up, and especially in 45 LC. It really isn't that hard and even if it is not perfect it will still be useable because that is not some sort of match gun needing every ounce of accuracy squeezed out of it. -

One more thing, if you do ream it to 45 Long Colt make sure to obliterate the original caliber and remark it with the new caliber. Down the road it might same someone some grief trying to figure out the caliber. -

Get a 45 Long Colt reamer and do it by hand. The difference between the two is .027" which isn't a whole lot. I seriously doubt you are going to have issues if you ream it to 45 Long Colt even if it doesn't get rid of the WinMag chamber 100% but honestly I think it will. It is really, really early but it looks like the 45 LC reamer will clean up the edge of the chamber to where it will not be an issue. It looks like it will clean up all of the existing 45 WinMag chamber when you ream using a 45 Long Colt reamer. The real difference is not the loaded ammunition but the chamber specs and the WinMag chamber will clean up to 45 LC specs. The end of the WinMag chamber is at 1.198" with a diameter of .474". The LC chamber is 1.295" long with a straight diameter of .480". The base of the WinMag is .4807" and the LC is .4862". Looks like all the critical areas of the WinMag are smaller than the LC so the 45LC reamer should clean up all traces of the WinMag chamber. The ONLY issued I could see is if someone decided to load to modern pressures or decide to buy some loads for Rugers. The max pressure for a 45 WinMag is 38,400 PSI, 45 Long Colt is 13,400 and the "modern" 45 Colt is 30,300. So you could definitely shoot the original specification ammunition and you could probably shoot modern LC cartridges but I would not want to test fire it. Here are the various dimensional drawings for the loaded ammunition and the chamber specificaitons. http://www.saami.org/pubresources/cc_drawings/Pistol/45%20Winchester%20Magnum.pdf http://www.saami.org/pubresources/cc_drawings/Pistol/45%20Colt.pdf And personally, I would just rent a reamer and do it by hand. The difference is small enough that you do not need a lathe but it will take a little longer. Just make sure to go slow and check fitment often. The Long Colt head spaces on the rim so you could use a fired case to set the headspace. Just make sure it is either sized or it is chopped 1/4" ahead of the rim so it doesn't want to headspace on an swollen casing. -

Personally I would just shoot it. I will say you need an adjustable gas block with that setup. Nothing wrong with that setup, it is the most reliable, but if you shoot supers with that setup it will be majorly over gassed. -
That looks great.

You can use ANY buffer tube on a pistol build. There is no legal requirement to use a "pistol" buffer on a "pistol" build. Buy the buffer tube you want to use when approved and just make sure you do not have a rifle stock that can only be used to create the SBR until it is approved. -
And the price was $25 per item with as many passes as it takes.

Universal Super Duper Background Check
Dolomite_supafly replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
Yep, what is ever worse is when the company requesting you do an SF 86 looses it, not once, not twice but three times. I used to keep a completed SF86 for reference, nothing really changes except since the last background check. -
Maybe stand at the entrance they left in and see if they come in to work. It is sad that people do this because it affects us all. I have had several instances where I could have walked away and not had to pay but I ALWAYS made sure I paid what I was responsible for. It says a lot about society that people would be dishonest about something like this. Imagine what they would do over something that was a bit more serious.

And one more thing, this is the most important election in our children's lifetimes. The justices appointed during this presidency will make up the majority. Do we want to take a chance on Trump nominating someone who is against the Second Amendment or the Constitution. The SCOTUS is unbalanced now and with a nominee from Hillary or Trump it could mean the end of our gun rights. And for a glimpse of how that is look at England and Australia. In England you can go to prison for shooting someone who is trying to kill you and Australia is similar. We cannot afford to loose a single seat on the Court, at least not if we want to be able to defend ourselves. We live in very dangerous times, all you have to do is look at what is happening across the globe to see this country is the last bastion of freedom and that will be a thing of the past if Hillary gets elected. Please lets not take a chance on Trump and vote for the only nominee who believes in the power of the Constitution.
