  1. I would realy, really like to try one of these pistols: Marstar Canada: Norinco PRC Series Handguns Or here are some of the other styles they import: Marstar Canada: Norinco Handguns Index Page Or a $429 copy of the M-14: Marstar Canada: Norinco M-14S 'GI Rifle' 7.62x51mm Semi-Auto Rifle Or a $189 SKS: Marstar Canada: Chinese Military SKS 'Type 56' 7.62x39mm Semi-Auto Rifle We, as a country, buy cheap Chinese products yet we can't get their firearms imported. I bet China has no clue how much money is in the gun trade, especially reasonably priced guns. Norinco 1911's were once, and to some still are, sought after to build on. I remember a time, the 90's, when smiths would pick a Norinco over a Springfield to build. Dolomite
  2. I would be willing to be it is a handload that is way too hot. The fired round exceeded the cylinder's ability to maintain its integrity. As the fired cylinder failed the flame front moved into the adjacent cylinders, igniting those which were also loaded too hot. A barrel obstruction would not cause this type of destruction. It, without a doubt, was not Chinese ammunition. How do I know? Because it is against federal law to import any ammunition made in China. That law went into effect at the same time the importation of military style rifles and handguns from China took effect in 1994. Then before the expiration of the AWB in 2004 China/Norinco was found to be in violation of a missile proliferation order so Bush banned the import of Chinese/Norinco made assault weapons and ammunition. So long as China/Norinco are in violation of the missile proliferation order importing Chinese ammunition, pistols and military style weapons are prohibited. Here are the details of that importation ban: Recent OFAC Actions And this is the missile proliferation order they are in violation of: http://www.treasury.gov/resource-center/sanctions/Documents/fr68_28314.pdf Has to do with their proliferation of banned missile development. Canada imports Chinese/Norinco weapons and the prices are pretty amazing. The selection is also amazing. Look at what we could have access to if the ban was lifted: Marstar Canada: Classic Collectible Militaria Since 1985 Dolomite
  3. Welcome to the big boys. Stealing from a FFL is a federal offense unlike stealing from the average citizen. I hope they catch them and charge them federally that way they do a lot more time. Dolomite
  4. CBC is known for having really bad brass. I know 223 regularly has cracks like that. The brass is way too hard and can't stretch so it just cracks. Let me google that for you Dolomite
  5. Fixed a few things above in my previous post. I am just getting disgusted with the options I am being handed. I am tired of being forced to pick the lesser of two evils. And all of them want control, nothing more. We are losing rights every single day because the government is criminalizing anything that might threaten their current or future control over the people. And it is control, not money that drives most politicians. Why else would a senator spend $55 million dollars for a position that pays less than $200,000 a year and would take 275 years to break even. Income tax is used as a means to control. The current welfare system is used to control a segment of the population. Every law passed has to do more with controlling the populace than helping the populace. Ohshoot you are right. The justices could and most likely would have far reaching ramifications if they were appointed by Obama. But what about justices appointed by Mitt Romney. His state has very harsh gun laws, has government run healthcare, he has supported and donated to Planned Parenthood and supported Clinton's don't ask/don't tell. Those items alone should scream Democrat to any of us yet he wears a ® next to his name. That ® is why most people are going to vote for him, not what he actually stands for. Dolomite
  6. I will say this, if I can't vote for Ron Paul I will vote for Obama. Not because I like Obama any more than anyone else but because the Republicans are just as bad. Regardless of who wins the election we, as a nation, are going to get screwed. I am going to let the Republican party know my intentions as well as follow through. I was having a bad day yesterday and it apparently clouded my judgement. No way in the world I would vote for Obama. The Republicans we have now are nothing more than a Democrat from 30-40 years ago. There are no more true Republicans alive or that are willing to run with the exception of Ron Paul. The rest of the Republican party are corrupt, self serving individuals that want nothing more than to control us so they can fund their own personal agendas. The difference between today's Republicans and the Democrats is Republicans want our money to line their own pockets and the Democrats want our money so they can give it to citizens. And personally if I am going to give my money to someone I want it to go to someone who needs it rather than someone who wants it. Any justices getting appointed, by either party, is going to be a blow against the American people and our way of life. What I wish would happen is remove the ® or (D) next to candidates name. That would force people to at least research the candidates rather than vote along party lines. Voting along party lines is the most foolish thing anyone can do, at least for someone who actually cares for their country. We can't have a popular vote which is idiotic and we can't vote for who we want to unless it is among a pre approved list. It also says a lot when Jimmy Carter endorses Mitt Romney, the current front runner. Dolomite
  7. Glad to hear it. I knew it would shoot well once I had the first 5 rounds down the tube. Dolomite
  8. I buy Stevens 200's. They are exactly like, actually better, than a Savage action and cheaper to boot. The reason why they are better is they don't go through the "fluff and buff" that most Savages go through. This is also why they are cheaper. They come straight out of the machine as machined. When us humans are doing the "fluff and buff" they make minor changes to the geometry of the receiver. Not enough for most people to notice but the Stevens are more uniform from gun to gun. As far as buying them, you can find them at Gander for $319-$349. Most people are not going to sell their prized Savage for that regardless of condition. I have never seen a used Savage for under $300 with the exception of a pawn shop that had one for $235. Turned out to be a super rare model that I was stupid for passing on. Shylock's had one for sale for $350 and it had two barrels with it, 7.5x55 and a 30-06 barrel but that was over a year ago. Once you have bought your Stevens you can generally sell the barrel for around $50-$75 depending on caliber. Academy used to carry them but no longer do. Dolomite
  9. I built a 7.62x39 AR a few years back. It had a 308 bore and I shot a lot of factory ammo through it without a single problem. Dolomite
  10. Ground up build. I can build a 7.62x39 cheaper than I could probably buy one. They have gotten mighty proud of their stuff lately. Another reason to build is they are probably going to use a barrel designed for the .311 bullets and I want .308. Doesn't even need to be a Savage but it probably will be. Dolomite
  11. I won't body size every single time but as they get stretched and hard to chamber I will bump the body back down to spec. I also like to neck and body size before doing a trim. That way I get the most stretch on the case before trimming. Dolomite
  12. You know if everyone were to call and ask about the status of the investigation they would not forget. The particulars may not be available but they can give a status as well as a disposition when it becomes available. Dolomite
  13. I am getting ready to start another bolt gun project. I have narrowed the choices down to7.62x39 and 300 blk. Building them is going to cost the same between the calibers. But I think I have already made up my mind. I am going to be using a Lee neck die and a Redding body die for sizing duties. I can't seem to locate the same for 300 blackout so to use this setup I will need to stick with the x39. I like seperating my neck sizing and body sizing operations for brass life. I like the x39 because in a SHTF situation ammo will be available more readily than the 300 blk. Ammo now is cheap and readily available. I have also reloaded steel case ammo before without issue if brass cases become hard to find. I will be using a 308 bore. Shooting factory ammo is not a problem because I have done it in the past without issue. As a matter of fact it shot very, very well out of a 308 bore. I also plan on suppressing the gun and shooting 200+ grain bullet sout of it. So what do you guys think? Dolomite
  14. Not really square but more of out of round and so far out of round most people think they are square. I have had a few sets of Michelins before as well and they are not worth the money. Dolomite
  15. They rarely work on AK's. I do know that most times they send the AK owner to CCA for work. Dolomite
  16. As much as I hate them, Coal Creek has been recommended for AK work to me before. Dolomite
  17. As a father I explained to my son the benefits of staying out of any job or service that increased the risks. I do not want my son to have to endure what I have as well as still do endure from my time in a war zone. He graduated Air Force basic this past week and is on his way to training for computers and software. I can't imagine a safer job for him which makes me happy as a father. Dolomite
  18. Just clarifying isn't going to do anything. It is when people, like Kwik, take it to the extreme when companies do it as part of a knee jerk reaction. Problem I have is the associate is telling people they can't do something they can. I also believe the associate is going to migrate to where he is telling people to clear their weapons. And when that happens there is going to be some bad things happen. maybe not a ND but others seeing a person pull a gun out. I am just going to drop it but I think as time goes on this may be considered normal there. Dolomite
  19. I am going to call about this tomorrow and speak to the gun counter supervisor. An employee telling customers this is not only wrong but is also dangerous. Can you imagine if customers with HCP's began pulling their guns out to clear them before entering. Or being told to do so after entering the store. It is just an accident waiting to happen. Not to mention the complaints the store would probably receive from the other customers as someone clears their gun. I can also guarantee LE would be called as a customer clears a weapon. This is so wrong. Do you remember the associates name by chance? Either way I will speak with the sporting goods supervisor so he can let all the employees know. If he isn;t very receptive I will call corporate and let them know where my moeny isn't going to be spent. Dolomite
  20. I have known him for a very long time, well at least 3 years. I recently sold him a threaded Kimber conversion. I also bought a plstic AR hammer from him a few shows ago. He makes some decent stuff and definitely one of the few people who is willing to do NFA stuff to order. Sorry, to hear about his shop. I wonder if it was set or if it was something else? As far as reloading goes there is plenty of people on here with the skills and knowledge to teach you. I reload everything I shoot and now cast everything I shoot. I have probably tried every trick in the book as well as built several wildcats. If you have any questions feel free to ask me or one of the other experts on here. dlm37015 is probably one of the most knowledgeable on here when it comes to reloading and reloading components. He is also a really nice guy who is willing to help out anybody and everybody he can. Dolomite
  21. I am back now. It was a sad but happy, if you know what I mean, day today. Sad to seem him go but also glad knowing our baby boy has become a man. We all appreciate the kinds words and he does check this board. I don't think he is registered but I do know he checks in here from time to time. Dolomite
  22. I used to drive down that main road a few times a month. First time we did we found it interesting. Dolomite
  23. The bullet lube is for after the casting is done. It is designed to lube the bullets not the mold. The best way to get the bullets to drop is to "smoke" the mold or at least it has been for me. I have only done about 30 pounds of lead so far so I am new to this as well. I started by casting 12 gauge slugs, then balls, then 9mm and now I will be doing 45 bullets. I reload everything I shoot so now my 45's are going to cost me about $.04-$.05 a round. 9mm is going to cost about the same as well. Makes shooting so much more guilt free for me. I would cot the top off of cheap 12 gauge rounds and then put the slugs in place of the shot. So slug rounds are costing me about $.30 each. Dolomite
  24. There is a lot to learn from the average Afghan. They live on the bare minimum in most cases. Electricity, running water and cars are luxuries most Afghans will never have. And yet they continue to survive. Their life expectency is mid 40's which says a lot for their quality of life. They also age very early, most 30 year old Afghan men look to be in the 50's or 60's by American standards. The oldest person I met over there was in his 70's and he looked like he should have died a few years earlier. Another big killer over there is Hepatitus B, no doubt because of their sanitation and water supply systems. They are a very, very proud people in everything they do. In one trip we had a gentleman who looked to be in his 80's but was actually in his 40's. He spent his days moving rocks from the center of a road to the sides. Everyday he had to show me how much he did. They are also a very ingenius and industrious people. I liken them to McGyver in their ability to use something to do a job it was never intended to do. Even though being over there has changed my life forever, in a bad way, I would go back tomorrow if I could. Had I not been in that helicopter accident in the middle of "indian country" I would no doubt be posting this from a remote area somewhere in Afghanistan. I believe that Afghanistan is a country we can't give up on. Dolomite
