So I picked up one about a week ago. I thought it would be a typical polymer gun but was surprised. They ship as a DA/SA with decocker but no ability to be carried cocked and locked. But the safety to swap to a cocked and locked carry comes with the gun. It was easy to swap out so I can carry it in a traditional 1911. I haven't shot it enough but reports are these are pretty accurate. The sights are what I have been doing for years. They are a three dot sights that use glow in the dark powder as the night sight. It takes a second to charge and is brighter than any tritium I have ever seen. The glow in the dark powder stays as bright as, or brighter than, tritium for hours. The rear of the grip is replaceable with different grip inserts. Capacity is 19+1 but it doesn't feel large. There is a ton of aftermarket support for these already. I have some reduced mainsprings coming and have already installed the longer firing pin, firing pin spring and the spring for the firing pin safety. I polished up all the parts that need to be polished and worked on the sear to clean it up. I measured the single action trigger at just over four pounds as it left the factory. After the modifications so far it is just over three pounds. And when I start tuning the main spring I should be able to drop it even more. The trigger in single action isn't as short as a typical cocked and locked gun, which this one is set up as, but it is also pretty nice. It feels about like a heavily modified Glock trigger. The only ding against this pistol is the sights. It is not that they are bad but they should be much taller for a "suppressor ready" gun. I can buy them for $85 but I would rather pay $85 extra for them already on the gun. It is my new favorite gun and I cannot wait to start carrying it. I am a CZ fan again, well I never really left just didn't have any.

What lube are you using? I only use lanolin and alcohol now. It works as good as anything I have tried and is dirt cheap to make. Get 100% pure lanolin and at least 91% rubbing alcohol., the higher the better. Then mix the two in a 8:1 or 10:1 ratio with the alcohol being the bigger and the lanolin being the smaller. Heat a pot of water on the stove until it is too hot to keep your hand in it. Then remove it from heat and let it set for a few minutes to equalize. Set the lanolin and alcohol in the hot water with the caps loosened. Leave them for about 15 minutes in order to heat up. This makes the lanolin more liquid like and helps it disolve in the alcohol. Put 1/2 the alcohol in the spray bottle then add all of the lanolin. Then pour the remaining alcohol in the spray bottle. Then cap it off and shake vigorously for a few minutes until it is mixed well. It should not seperate even after cooling.

Any retailers near Knoxville selling primers?
Dolomite_supafly replied to RAJBCPA's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Smoky Mountain Knife Works had all the primers anyone can want. They are a little pricey, $50/1K, but in a pinch I would pay that. -
There are plenty of pistols that are smaller than the PPK. They are also a lot lighter. The PPK is a nice weapon but it is HEAVY for what it is. I recently seen brand new Heizer Defense pistols for sale for under $200. They are pretty small for what they bring. If you are wanting a traditional semi auto there are plenty of choices out there that are both smaller AND lighter than the PPK. They may not be as pretty but the pistols I am talking about beat out the PPK when you count only the things that matter, size and weight and power. A Keltec PF9, which is 9mm, is 1/2 the weight of a PPK and is a significant upgrade over the 380 in terms of power. It is also less than 1/2 the price too. If you want to compared the 380 Keltec to the 380 PPK the differences are even more significant. The PPK weighs 22 ounces, which is almost 1.5 pounds, and the Keltec 380 is almost 1/3 the weight at 8.3 ounces. The PPK is 1" thick while the Keltec P3AT is .77". And most compact polymer framed guns will have similar specifications. Even the Smith and Wesson M&P 9 Compact weighs less than the Walther PPK in 380. Even a 9mm Glock is lighter than the PPK. If you want a PPK to want one that is cool but it is hardly the lightest, smallest, thinnest or most powerful "pocket" pistol.

Where did you order them and do they have other weights? I just paid $100 for 1,000 powder coated bullets. They are also 160 grains.

I recently bought something off of Ebay that I never received. I contacted the seller and did not get a response so I filed a complaint and again contacted the seller 2-3 times over the time period Ebay wants to wait for the seller to respond. It is something like a week after you file a complaint before Ebay will do anything. You basically open a complaint and when you submit it to Ebay it also contacts the seller with what you have wrote in the complaint. The seller responds and then Ebay looks at everything and you get a refund. From the time I filed the complaint to the time I received my refund it was like 10 days. But that was with a seller that refused to respond to Ebay so it took the maximum amount of time. I imagine if the seller tells Ebay he hasn't shipped yet the refund should be very fast. Even though Ebay can see all the communication between you it would probably be best to submit all his excuses in the original complaint. And as someone else has said they are very, very biased towards the buyers.

Mike really is a great guy, both on here as well as in person. He does a lot for his fellow shooters and is always involved with charities. I am glad to see more and more people going to this amazing caliber. It is getting popular enough that ammunition can be found in a lot of places but it is still not so popular that it is perpetually sold out. It is the most versatile caliber, especially in a semi auto. It will kill anything you might come in contact in this area of the country. I have four different platforms in 300 Blackout, AR and a Savage and an Encore rifle and Contender pistol. I am getting ready to build a long range rig in 300 Blackout as well. I am going to probably use either a 10, 11 or 12 twist because it will be a supersonic only. But even a 10 twist will stabilize all the cast bullets I shoot at subsonic velocities. I will thread, chamber and profile the barrel myself. Probably will not thread the end because of the bore belling at the muzzle We have a small group of people who are starting to explore the cartridge's real capabilities. It is not only good at shooting slow bullets quietly but it might also be a decent long range caliber as well. Most people do not know that the bullet is still gaining velocity with a 30" barrel when shooting supersonic loads. It is just a matter of figuring out which recipe shoots accurately across several platforms. Some of us are going to try to figure out our version of FGMM. It is an amazing little caliber, it develops the same energy as a 5.56 using 1/3 less powder. We are going to be using 168, 175 and 180 grain bullets. We are trying to see which one will be supersonic the farthest. It is generally accepted that supersonic 300 Blackout is like a 308 Winchester minus 275 yards. That is if a 308 Winchester is a 400 yard deer cartridge then the 300 Blackout is a 125 yard deer cartridge. And for long range shooting if the 308 Winchester is considered a 1,000 yard cartridge the 300 Blackout is a 725 yard cartridge. The muzzle velocity of the 300 Blackout is the same at the 308 Winchester at 275 yards. Anyways, welcome to the forum and to the 300 Blackout community. And if you have ANY questions feel free to ask. We have plenty of people who are more than willing to help out with the 300 Blackout. And to truly appreciate how quiet this caliber can be you must have a single shot.

Public raids, as in with reporters, are only done to show the jurisdiction is being tough on crime. It is generally done more often during election years. In my jurisdiction they conduct quite a few raids in the months leading up to an election. And every raid that results in an arrest often has reporters on scene as it is happening. Then there is some story about how the sheriff, district attorney and the local government is tough on crime. This is the same reason plea deals are offered, to boost conviction rates so the DA can proudly proclaim they are tough on crime with a high conviction rate but in reality they are generally really soft on crime. In cases where a trial would be a slam dunk they offer a reduced sentence. They claim it is to save the taxpayers the cost of a trial but it does not matter because either way that time will be filled with another case.

This is the second one I have ever seen. It is an extremely rare gun or at least they are rarely sold.

I think this would be hilarious
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
In high school a buddy of mine and me make up a dummy. We sewed socks, pants, gloves and shirt together then stuffed it with torn up old clothes. We used a yellow Styrofoam ball for a head and we drew a smiley face on it. We started by closing his hand in the door then turning his face to look out. That was fun then we it would be more fin to strap him to the hood of tmy car then went driving around the local hang outs. We would randomly lock the brakes up and squeal the tires and people would look around to see a body on a car just as we would take off. At about 55 mph one arm would fly up form the wind and tap on the window. Good thing there weren't cell phones back then or we would have been thrown in jail. We were out night fishing where we shouldn't have been. The police showed up and were looing into my car, the car with a crumpled up body in the back seat. They started hammering on the windows to try to wake the dummy up. After a few minutes the started looking for us and made us come back to the car. They said it si against the law to have body in the car. I told him it was a dummy and he didn't believe me so I opened my car. He grabbed it and then figured it was a dummy. The end was when we were going across post to get home from picking up pizza. Some MP's pulled us over right in from of the main PX and had us turn in to the parking lot. There was a constant flow of cars as the MPs did there thing. As they were pulling us over they called it out over the radio and it was strange enough more MPs showed up. The ones that pulled us over thought it was funny and we were chatting eating pizza together. Then one of them mentioned a name of someone responding and they said he was as uptight and freaked out easily. So they concocted a plan for when he arrived. At the uptight MP got out of his car one of the first MPs picked up the dummy and slammed it on the ground. The uptight MP started freaking out but almost lost his mind when the second MP kicked the dummy's head clean off. I was laughing so hard at them but what was even funnier is seeing shoppers reaction as a head went bouncing across the parking lot. If I see the picture again I will scan it in for all to see. He had a name but I cannot remember for the life of me. -
So we recently got a new mattress. Our old mattress is a memory foam mattress. My wife cut it in half to make it more manageable for her and that is when inspiration hit. So I was thinking I would cut the mattress into the shape of a body, dress it in clothes with a burlap sack over the head and then wrap it in sheets. And then cover the "body" in trash bags and then seal it all up with duct tape. It would probably weigh 100 pounds but if I added some liquid, red liquid, I think it would be a similar weight as a real body. And once wrapped up I believe it would look, and feel, the part. I mentioned putting it out at the curb for our regular trash guy but I think leaving it anonymously at the dump would be better. For bonus points I would throw a handful of empty casings and use a realistic Halloween mask under the burlap sack covering the head. So what kind of trouble would I get into? And if anyone else wants to do it you are more than welcome to the old mattress until Junk-B-Gone comes and gets it in a few days. I think it would be absolutely hilarious but the wife thinks it would be a very bad thing. So what does everyone else think?

Most Americans cannot see much beyond the tips of the noses. As long as the government is telling them what they want to hear they continue to be oblivious to what IS going to happen. And when our children are killed our government's response will be to make excuses for why the killers did it and how it is our fault. What is truly sad is the government will use it to take away the best means to prevent it which is EXACTLY what our enemies want. And make no mistake we have more enemies in this world than allies and they would jump at the chance to knock us down a notch or two. For us to survive, and it is a matter of survival, we must be willing to set aside our conscience and do exactly what they are doing. When they threaten to kill our kids we should listen to them, rather than dismiss those threats, and beat them to the punch. Threaten to kill one of our kids and we should kill 1,000 of theirs. Eventually they will get tired of burying their kids. -

They have been playing the long term strategy for a long time. They know how to take over countries and they will do it here, eventually. And we are speeding that up with this county's politically correct BS. It is impossible to fight an enemy if you cannot call your enemy an enemy. And make no mistake EVERY Muslim will pick their religion every time over a non Muslim, even a child. They say they won't but look at the actions of Muslims, even "moderate" Muslims, and what they say does not match what they are doing. A conservative estimate is 3% of Muslims in the US are "radical" but 15% support those 3%. There are at least 5 million Muslims in the US. That is 30,000 radicals in the US. That is why they have not started acting crazy like in Europe but wait until our Muslim percentages are like those in Europe and we will see it here too. The Black Lives Matter protests are like a kindergarten tea party compared to what is going on in Europe and if we do not do something we WILL see it here. They are infiltrating our courts, our government and our society in a way that does not bode well for the rest of us. What should happen is ANY person who supports radicalized Muslims should be deported, even US citizens. Just like if I renounced my citizenship I would be deported and they should be too if they are fighting with our enemies. I bet they would change their tune when faced with the fact they are an American in a Muslim country. Think about this. Almost every critical service in every major city contains at least one Muslim. Imagine if that Muslim decided to poison our water supply. Perhaps they already have but, as I said, they are playing a long game so we may not see it until it is too late. Do not let ANY Muslim have unfettered access to your loved ones because they will eventually do something in the name of Allah. Hopefully it is just a prayer vigil but I suspect it will be much, much worse. They know we protect our weak so that is what they will attack. The San Bernadino killings were exactly that. They chose a place where our weak gather to attack. The next attack WILL involve our children. They are finding school blueprints abc there is a LOT of chatter about kids here in the US among Muslim communication channels. -
They come back pretty quick. I tell anyone filing one out to put the dates from January 1st to December 31st. Perfectly legal to do it a year at a time.

But it NEVER happens that way. Every time I had complaints against me it was put in my file, even if it were unfounded. And I assume they are still in my file today. Even if the complaint was expunged there would still be lingering effects. There would be tumors that would only grow more wild as time went on. Just saying that when someone complains there are lingering effects even if the officer was right. i will say this that if a complaint is in fact founded against an officer it is rarely a surprise for his peers. Most officers know who the problem officers are before it comes to light.
-
And on the other end of the spectrum I wish people who file false complaints against police should be held accountable too. All too often they throw a hail marry complaint hoping to get a $10 parking ticket thrown out and they do it without thinking about the ramifications to the officer. And when the civilian looses they think no big deal but the officer is left with a permanent record of the complaint. And of it is an active officer, that is having a lot of contact, they will be getting more complaints. And a bunch of complaints, founded or unfounded, will have a negative impact on their career. I would have zero problems with anyone who filed a false complaint being charged criminally and if found guilty should be required to pay whatever amount it takes to restore the officer's name. If they can't afford that then require them to go to jail until the officer feels justice has been served. A day, a month or years. After all the civilian making the false complaint is attempting to take away everything the officer has worked for so any attempt to do that should be believed very seriously. I guess it just boils down to one thing, honesty. Regardless of where you stand on the issue if someone is being dishonest they should pay a price for that. And how dishonest should determine how severe the punishment. I got tired of being on the receiving end of false complaints and seeing those that knowingly filed false complaints laugh about it.
-
That is the hallmark of a cover up. Look at any place where our government is suspected of wringdoing and they put tons of resources into removing any evidence of that wrongdoing. If someone comes for me because of something I KNOW I did not do. And they can take away everything, including my life, I have a duty as a citizen to resist. And the amount of resistance is directly proportional to the amount of force they are using to effect that illegal arrest. There is now a state in this union that makes resisting wrongful arrests legal and I completely agree with it. And the reason I agree is because we have all seen organizations pick a certain narrative then find, fabricate or omit evidence to support it. Rarely is criminal investigation done with the intent of finding out the truth. It is most often done to achieve a certain end result which is the conviction of THEIR chosen criminal. If later it was found they wrongfully resisted, and broke laws, then they should be held accountable for resisting and any other crimes but if if is found they were wrongfully accused and wrongfully arrested then anything they did at the moment of the attempted arrest, providing it did not hurt innocents, should be fair game. And this is not to say ALL officers are bad because the overwhelming majority are not. They are doing a job that most would not want to do, for less pay than most of us would require and they are doing the best they can. But all it takes is one bad officer to get the good officers to unknowingly become a part of it. And then the "us versus them" mentality kicks in. I think that is what frustrates so many people. We have all seen bad officers do bad things then not be held accountable for their wrongful actions. And the reason why is if they are held accountable by their jurisdiction that implies wrongdoing and that could result in a financial judgement. So jurisdictions will spend a lot of time and money defending bad officers even if the organization knows the officer was in the wrong. It would go a long way to heal the image of LE if jurisdictions would say that the officer was in the wrong and that their organization will not be defending the officer.

I am pulling the plug on this. Both of you send me your address and I will send you each a deck of cards. Please make sure you follow through. -
If I were going to spend $200 on a tax stamp I would do something else but who am I to keep you from burning the hair off of all those around you at the range. If you do decide to do it let me know, I have s muzzle brake you can have so you can clear the range. Just take a video of the first Saturday range session when the range is full. I have been close to 16" Mosins so I can imagine such a short barrel is painful for all those around.

I too have attempted to escalate my issues several times. I complain to the postmaster and she gives me the number to a local "supervisor" but he never answers or return calls despite leaving several messages. Tracking numbers are different than insurance numbers and my post office refuses to let you put tracking on an insured package. And as those who have insured packages know you cannot track it and you will get the first status update a few days after it has been delivered. The told me that my name MUST be on the return address. Makes being a secret Santa kind of hard. I asked them to show me and they got pissy about it so I just added my return address. I am just getting tired of my tax money going to worthless employees. I had an issue with another government organization. An employee was required to do something, promised to do it but a month later it had not been done. I called in to find out and the emplyee blew it off. I said, exactly like this, "if someone isn't going to do their job then they need to be held accountable" to which the employee I was talking about said "you can get in trouble for threatening government employees like that". I told the person I wasn't threatening an employee and they need to do the job they are being pad to do. That is when I got an odd vibe like they were going to call the cops on me. No doubt somewhere on some government computer system is says I have threatened government employees. You think the thin blue line is rough to cross watch the government employees circle the wagons and threaten you if they think you are going to file a complaint. Especially local governments. Had an issue with my sheriff that required an attorney to call him. Come Monday two officers where at my door wanting to know what guns I had in the house. No doubt a fishing expedition by the sheriff and his officers. Our current sheriff hates me because we have history over the time my brother tried to kill us. My brother was holding my father hostage at gun point and when I told the sheriff he said there was no probable cause to investigate. I told him my brother was threatening to kill us in the weeks leading up to him trying to kill us and the sheriff did NOTHING. We had SWAT guarding our house while the standoff took place. But complain on this sheriff and his goons WILL take care of your complaint personally. I am sure there are a couple in here so I will probably get a visit.

We had a problem with mail thieves in the past. We installed a big steel mailbox to prevent most of it. But packages end up where ever the mailman feels like tossing them. I have found them in high weeds, hidden behind trees, on the bumper of our truck, sitting on trunks of cars as well as sometimes they just leave the notice to come pick them up. Plenty of times I went in mine to get one of my packages coming to me. I knew it was at the post office on Saturday and they have a soft policy of no packages will be delivered on Monday so I decided to go down there to get it. They had already ran the mail and then my package was delivered by UPS to my local post office. I go in there to get my package before they close at noon on Saturday and they tell me I am not allowed to pick my mail up at the post office. So even though the package was at my post office Saturday morning I did not get it until Tuesday. The postmaster now seems to be a bit more relaxed about that policy. They get it right with small packages but the bigger ones get sent all over the country before making it here. Ordered something from just across the border in NC. Said it would be delivered like four days later. Eleven days later I call to get the tracking information and the package had been going from Boston to the mailers city. It was going back and forth and was on its way back for a third time when the seller called and got it straightened out.
