No seat belts in 42% of fatal police car crashes
Dolomite_supafly replied to gregintenn's topic in General Chat
Not sure if it saved my life but definitely reduced what could have been some serious injuries. Using a seatbelt is a no brainer. Most people who are steadfast against using them do it because it is a law. If there was no seatbelt law those same people would probably use seat belts. I know that even if it wasn't law I would still wear one. Dolomite -
I can't believe it, She won 200,000 of our taxes
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I thought you could not use the civil courts for redress if you were breaking the law at the same time as the incident. Like if you were breaking into a home and the homeowner beat the crap out of you. It was my understanding that the criminal could not sue because he was breaking the law at the time. Dolomite -
So about 6 months ago I noticed that sometimes when I sat down it felt like I would pinch one of the "boys". It would also hurt if the pants I was wearing didn;t leave a lot of room for movement. Didn't really thought anything about it. Well about a month ago I noticed something different down there. It was a little tender but only when I squeezed it so my course of action was to not squeeze it. And at the time I felt it was not something I should be worried about Fast forward to last Thursday. As I was walking through Walmart it suddenly felt like someone kicked me square down there. After a bit of time bent over I recovered wnough to begin walking again. Then it happens again and with the same intensity. At this point I am thinking about getting to the emergency room. But shortly again it subsides. Rather than look like a pervert in the middle of Walmart while doing an inspection I waited until I got home. That is when I noticed what was a little odd a month ago is now really odd and much larger. So I make an appointment and see the doctor today. She agreed that something is wrong and I need further tests. They tried to get an ultrasound today but couldn't. So I will be heading back in the morning to find out exactly what it is. The doctor did say that cancer generally doesn't have any pain associated with it which makes me feel better but I am still a bit worried as is my wife. And the doctor said it was up to me whether I wanted surgery if it wasn't cancer. Either way it is coming out but hopefully it is something minor. Also, feel free to post all the teste jokes you need to. Just thought I would pass it on. And make sure you are checking the "twins" regularly but not too regularly. Checking too often you can't feel changes not often enough and it can get out of hand before you notice anything is wrong. Dolomite

made my first leather holster today.
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I use a vacuum sealer. I seal the gun then I sandwich it between wet and dry pieces of leather. The wet is the front. Then I slide that into another vacuum seal bag. I hit the seal button but stop before it seals. It will pull the leather down snugly. After you get the top piece the way you want then cover the top piece wit paper towels and vacuum it down a few more times. The paper towels will remove the excess water. At this point the wet sheet will keep it shape. I remove it and place it either outside or in the oven on the lowest setting for 1/2 an hour. Dolomite -
I can't spend much time in the car. I can help you out any way I can on here or on the phone. I say go back to basics. Use the factory mag and start from there. It sounds like it is mag related. Dolomite

I have had several and never had a single issue. The current one, a 9mm OSS DS, has 1,500+ trouble free rounds. It is also the most accurate 9mm I have ever fired. I might try some 100 yard shots like I do with my 1911 to see how they compare. In the beginning people hated them because they were rough appearance wise. Since making them more pretty the haters don't have that to complain about. They now nitpick. Most Taurus haters have never owned one. My wife shot a perfect score on her HCP with our Taurus. And the whole time the instructor was saying they are inaccurate and unreliable. Dolomite

Chuck an oversized punch in a drill then sand or file it to size. I generally make punches out of all the "extra" allen wrenches I have laying. They come with anything and everything these days so I have plenty. Dolomite

Welcome aboard. Now go tell all your lady friends they need to take the same approach as you. Dolomite

Have you done anything to the hammer or trigger? Have you replaced them? I would be willing to bet the magazines are the issue. Did you buy them new? and if so did you fit them? Are they drum mags? I have seen more issues with drum mags than all others combined. Now some work great but most cause issues. Did the gun fire fine before the modifications? When was the last time you cleaned out the area in front of the puck? It can be filled with plastic hull material over time and can cause cycling issues. I know it is more questions but it would be great to say it was somehting simple or more importantly cheap to fix. Dolomite

Handloads in your carry gun
Dolomite_supafly replied to DaveS's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
DLM37015 will give you his experience regarding this. He used to carry handloads and when asked he said you will get sued over it. He said he has been there and got the t-shirt to prove it. He now carries commercial ammo and keeps the specific box it came from in his safe. I have carried handloads in the past but never will again. My particular handloads would have raised eyebrows out of my 9mm Glock. They were 147 grain HP's at 1,200 fps. Dolomite -
Take the top cover off and fire the gun. I had some clearance issues that sound exactly like what you are experiencing. I was trying to fit a AKM top cover for the apperance but didn't get it clearanced enough. Sounds like the gun is extracting and ejecting and then the shell is getting hung somewhere. What magazine are you using? Only use the factory mag until you get the cycling issue sorted out. All other mags can and do cause problems if not properly fitted. What parts have you added? The Tapco hammer is the worst for causing malfunctions. It sits too high and drags heavily on the underside of the bolt. And even if you grind it down enough to cycle it will no longer strike the firing pin squarely. Or if you want I can PM you my number and we can talk aobut other potential problems. They are actually a very basic firearm. It doesn't take much to get them to cycle. Dolomite

You are right, a low shelf lower and then the hole for the sear pin is all the lower needs to be FA. And it is that hole that WILL get you in trouble even if you do not have the other parts. In the same way there were some AK style weapons that were sold as semi but had the additional hole drilled for FA. The ATF made the importer fix the problem. Dolomite

I will take you up on that offer. Let me know when is a good time for us to meet? I'll even give you a trigger kit. Dolomite

Wolf SRM primers cut my SD in half. My SD with the Wolf primers and Varget is 6, yes six. It got rid of the vertical stringing and resulted in some sub .3" groups at 100 yards. Dolomite

Not all small rifle primers are the same. And not all small rifle primers are designed to work with the 223/5,56. Remington 6.5's are small rifle but are for lower PSI calibers like 22 hornet or 221 fireball. CCI400, CCI450, Remington 7.5, CCI 41, and Wolf Small Rifle Magnum are ones I have used with great success in my 223's. Dolomite

Something else I remember seeing was a RIA tactical with the FULL rail. It was $400, thought it was a deal and I would ahve bought it if I didn;t have so many projects going at the moment. Dolomite

I saw at least 3 take down 10/22's between yesterday and today. Don't remember price. I also seen a RUGER 1911, yes a RUGER 1911 in the wild. It was $799. I looked all over and could not find a .625 gas block anywhere. I guess I will be ordering one. Dolomite

Welocme aboard. There is a ton of great people on this board. Dolomite

I am glad to once again meet with you. Each time we meet I learn something. My wife enjoys talking with you as well. And as always the prices couldn't be beat by anyone. And just so everyone else knows very few vendors have as much load and actually shooting experience as David. And the most important part about all of his knowledge is he gives it away freely to anyone who asks. And that problem we discussed, it has been addressed. Dolomite

Great choice. Can't beat the support of a great company. And because it is built to the same standards as most other AR's you can upgrade anything you want without fear of it not fitting. Dolomite

Got a score today. A stainless 12 twist 223 barrel that is 20" long. It is a lightweight profile so I can see another build coming up. Maybe a lightweight designated marksman type rifle. The guy tried installing the front sight himself and had it crooked. I am going to add a clamp on block so it is not an issue. I also got 8 more pounds of the best 223 I have ever shot. It is the powder that David sells for $90 for 8 pounds. This stuff shoots clean and helped me shoot the smallest group out of my AR ever. He also has everything you need to load 223 as well as almost any caliber you can think of. Dolomite

Either way it is ILLEGAL to make a MG from a gun that was not registered as a MG prior to 1986 unless it is for LE/GOVT. Dolomite

I can't believe it, She won 200,000 of our taxes
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
And something else to realize. Because she was in custody the taxpayers paid for all her medical bills. As far as illegal aliens go they should be deported, along with that any children who were born here to illegal parents. By default the child should take the citizenship of the illegal parents. Now if the immigrant parent(s) are here legally, then by all means allow them to stay and the child is an American citizen. We should not reward an illegal who is only coming here to have an anchor baby so they can stay. We also need to bill the county of origin for every illegal we have to transport, house feed or heal. Take the money out of the funding that we are no doubt sending them. Once a country looses millions of our aid dollars because they allow their citizens to illegally enter our country they will begin to do something to secure their borders as well. Why should we pay to help their country maintain a certain standard of living only to have their citizens come and bilk our country. Kind of like staying in an apartment and having the landlord pay you for staying there, which is ridiculous. As far as employers go they should also be fined substantially for using illegal aliens. Fine them 1% of the gross income from the previous year’s tax return. Not net because they all write off everything but the gross profit. The main reason, in my eyes that is, why nothing is being done is money. Not money being made by the employers but by the federal government. Say we have 1,000,000 illegal aliens here working under false documents. Now do you think those illegal aliens are going to file their income tax returns at the end of the year, I think not. Now imagine each worker would be getting back $500 if they did file. That is $500,000,000 the feds can use without giving back to the states who are paying most of the costs related to the support of the illegal aliens. That may not seem like a lot in the scheme of things but it probably is enough to look the other way in some instances. I suspect there are a lot more than 1,000,000 working under false documents and I suspect their refunds would be more than $500 but you get the picture. Add to this that any money given by the feds doesn't include the illegal aliens the states are supporting because the illegal aliens are unlikely to take part in any census. Some states end up with a disproportionately large percentage of illegal aliens but do not receive the funding for the additional drain on their services. Dolomite -
I will be there with a semi auto Mac-11. I know I am going to get asked at least 100 times if it is full auto or if I can convert it. Going to be a long day because of that. I had someone ask me how much a 10/22 was once. Told them $325 and there response was to ask if it was full auto. I told them no and they said they would only pay $200 and that was if I converted it for them. I just laughed and walked away. Dolomite
