  1. One more thing to touch on regarding brass. Most people tumble their brass with way TOO much media. And when you have too much media it actually acts like a buffer extending the time needed to clean the brass. If you cut back on the amount of media then the brass themselves will clean each other. What I do is add the brass to my tumbler with no media at all then turn it on. The brass will sit there and do a little dance but do not tumble at all. Then I add media a cup at a time until the brass just begins to roll over on itself. You get a lot more action and the brass will be sqeaky clean in no time at all. Dolomite
  2. They replaced the upper in the picture fo SAFETY issues related to the headspace. And because a rimfire ignites off the rim when the headspace is off it is possible for it to go bang upon chambering. It is not cosmetic, it is a design flaw and that is why they replace them without questions. It is cheaper than paying for a lawsuit. Dolomite
  3. As far as the property tax savings you need to qualify for the Greenbelt program. Here is a flyer with the highlights: http://farmlandlegac...erence08/12.pdf From the sounds of it you are not going to qualify for the Greenbelt program. It has become such a racket anymore. I know people who subdivide their Greenbelt property and sell it off but still get the benefits on the remaining property. According to law any Greenbelt property that sells and is not used in a manner in which it woudl be eligble for Greenbelt are required t pay the previous 5 years taxes at the new status rate. That is if a Greenbelt property is sold and it is turned into a commercial property then the new owner is required to pay 5 years of commercial tax value on the property up front. The only way around is if the seller agrees to pay it. But it rarely happens because the buyer and seller never notify the tax office and a new address magically appears. The reason I know is because I was fighting my property taxes as property owners around me were selling off Greenbelt property yet were not paying their taxes. As a matter of fact I know one guy who turned his 200+ acre Greenbelt property into a commercial business park. His property is still receiving Greenbelt tax credits, no doubt because his brother in law is the assessor. Dolomite
  4. I sent this one back over safety concerns. And on another note I got baffle strikes with the first one and it looks as though the second one is also having baffle strikes, just not as often. Have your current upper threaded and forget about the Pac-Lite. And even the new Ruger Lite isn't much better. Yes it has a steel breech face but aluminum threads for the suppressor. And with aluminum threads they tend to wear or get squashed out of shape over time. Dolomite
  5. DO NOT BUY A PACLITE. At least not if you actually plan on shooting the gun. I have had two and they both had the same problem. Because the bolt is steel and the breechface is aluminum the aluminum gets mushroomed out exposing the barrel liner. I have had to send one back for this problem and the replacement one is less than 1,000 rounds down the tube and it is going to have to go back soon. I will post a picture in a minute of the problem. 6. +1,000 I have said it for a long time it is all about control. Why else would a candidate spend $50+ million for a seat (not presidentail race) that pays less than $300K. Just to break even would require that person to hold the job close to 200 years. Even with their great healthcare I think it is a bit too optimistic. Dolomite
  7. With lead bullets the lube you use is everything as far as being dirty. Most people see smoke and assume it is the lead but it is most likely the type of lube they are using. And a lot of commercial bullet makers use lube that looks good rather than acts good. The best lube by far is Alox. I have in a previous life used the wax ring for toilets to lube 22lr bullets. Not sure if it would work for centerfire but I might try it at some point. I will also say that for years I used Missouri bullets, their prices are great and their products seemed good. But with their bullets I always got a significant amount of lead in the bore of my 1911 as well as a 9mm I have. I talked to them and they said to push the bullets harder. So I increased the powder charge, and increased it and increased it even more. I quit increasing when I was pushing a 200 grain bullet at well over 1,050+ fps. And even at that velocity I was still getting the same amount of leading in the bore. After talking to a few friends they said use Alox on the Missouri bullets. I tumble lubed the same Missouri bullets using Alox and the leading issue went away or at least was significantly reduced. Think about it if the problem was with the lead then 22's would be fouled but the lube is the key. As far as a clean powder I have never really paid that much attention to it. I have used Clays, HS-6, Longshot, Trailboss and I finally settled on Power Pistol. I do know that using Power Pistol and cast bullets hitting clays at 125 yards 7 our of 10 times can be done with some regularity. And for those wanting the ultimate in savings casting your own is a no brainer. I am able to LOAD 45 acp for about a nickel a shot. I could use some really miserly powder (Clays) and get some cheap primers and load for under .04 a round. The cost to get into casting is cheap. You can find used equipment and be setup for under $50 for everything or new for under $80. Dolomite
  8. All those who are on welfare and gov't programs longterm have allowed themselves to be enslaved. They are given a small amount of money in exchange for them not wanting to succeed or better themselves. Then those same people compain and lash out against those who have worked hard to reach a certain sucess level. If they want to be upset they should be upset with themselves for not trying to succeed. It amazes me how people will settle for nothing so long as they don't have to work for it. I see people living in 1/2 burned trailers and they are content so long as they do not have to work. They cover the burned out portion with a blue tarp and call it good. I give you a personal example I just learned about. My brother, who is or maybe was a heavy drug user, recently came out of treatment. They offered to send him to a trade school for free. He has always been a great welder. A friend asked my brother why didn;t he want to go and get trained and become a welder. My borther said because he would loose his $637 a month in benefits he receives. To anyone who knows how much a professional welder makes then you see the problem. But this is the mentality of a lot of people receiving benefits. They are content so long as they don't have to work. My brother has been given the same opportunities, actually more, than me but he chose to go the route that is now the easiest. The "race war" isn't going to be about race. It is going to be about the "have nots" taking from the "haves". It just so happens that the majority of the "have nots" are minorities so it appears to be racially divided. And it will start when the "haves" cannot afford to continue the funding for the "have nots". At that point the gov't will announce that the "haves" are not working or contributing enough to support the "have nots" so they will begin taking what they feel is their's. I suspect this will happen when the unemployment teet runs dry, we came close already. On a side not did anyone see the DOL requirements to prove work searches? Also, those on unemployment must physically show up at the offices with proof in order to continue to receive benefits. Dolomite
  9. Anybody who has regularly used an Eotech in a harsh manner will know they crap out all the time. That and the battery life sucks. When overseas I chose irons when all they had was Eotechs to issue. We had them loose zero or just die. I will say that when you have to use night vision that there is nothing greater than the Eotech. Dolomite
  10. They want a chance to make it right. But my wife doesn't want to loose her carry gun for a few months. That and the fact they said they would nickel over the engraving ruining the nice contrast. She is just going to shoot and enjoy it. Dolomite
  11. They say it has to have a rifled bore. How about a .45 smooth bore then have the muzzle rifled .499 bore. That way the rifling will not upset the shot cup. Dolomite
  12. These are the best deals on pump action shotguns. They are Mossberg but what makes them better than most ofther Mossbergs is they have the safety on the trigger guard. With a standard Mossberg the safety is on the tang and is a HUGE PITA to operate with a pistol grip stock. That is why I sold my 500. Dolomite
  13. Next time I am around adademy I will pick on up. $20 for a 42 round range mag isn't a bad price. And if it is durable and cyces it would be a steal. Unfortunately I suspect the ProMag is going to be a piece of junk based on most other ProMag magazines I have tried. Dolomite
  14. I would never buy it for self defense or concealment. But for fun it should work. Imagine showing up at a trap shoot with one, it would raise a lot fo eyebrows. And as a 45 LC it can be a formidable defensive piece if it wasn't so big. What ruins a 410 pistol, especially this one, is the rifling. It causes the patterns to be in feet. If it was a dedicated 410 pistol with a choked smooth bore it would be a much better gun. Dolomite
  15. Yeah, rather than using shims to set headspace I have the shoulder or breech trimmer for a precise fit. And do it with a specific brand of ammunition in mind because most brands have different rim thicknesses. Nothing really wrong with the shims but anytime you have junctions it can cause inconsistencies. This is why a lot of the "professional" 10/22 shooters use epoxy or sleeve retainer to lock the barrel into the receiver then they epoxy the action into the stock. I can't imagine a quicker and quiter platform other than a pump or a lever gun. But with either of those you aren't going to find the aftermarket support that the 10/22 has. I have been looking for a junker lever 22 to thread. Dolomite
  16. The Sparrow, both aluminum and stainless, does have an issue with having a first round pop. Not bad but it is still there. It is because of the monocore design. To mitigate it you can use suppressor gel. Or if you are cheap like me you can use clear wire pulling gell from Home Depot. I bought a $6 bottlr last year and I still have 3/4 left. But, without a doubt if I were buying a 22 suppressor it would be the stainless Sparrow. It may not be as quiet as mine but it is also a lot smaller than mine as well as being a lot easier to clean than mine. On a side note I have a manufactuer wanting to use my baffle design in his can. It isn;t anything unique but it works extremely well. Dolomite

  18. Ask anyone that knows me. I can generally be bought for nothing. I offer to help all the time without expecting anything in return, money or otherwise. I get all kinds of calls from members here and give my number out freely to anyone who wants to talk. That is my contribution to our community here. Dolomite
  19. How do you like that toggle action? I wonder if they are available as a pistol? Imagine the same setup with a 4.5" barrel. Would make for a very quiet yet fast cycling pistol. Might need to make a few calls. Dolomite
  20. Not sure. I will let you know. I am going to get a gun that is the same price, just with iron sights. I considered the new Lite but the suppresor threads look aluminum. Not going to screw a steel can onto aluminum threads. Dolomite
  21. Update: They just called back and are going to replace the gun pending department head approval. They are also allowing me to upgrade to another model if I choose and I can pay the difference or I can downgrade and receive a refund. I am going to upgrade, just need to figure out which model. All is good and I am pretty happy with Ruger now. Dolomite
  22. And the saga continues. I called back today to find out why I didn't get a call back last week about my 22/45 that is in for repair. Clerk said he needed to check on the repair status with the technician. After a few minutes on hold that clerk said he needed to call me back. I asked when I could expect a call and he said if not today then first thing in the morning (yeah right). In speaking with him it seems as though the tech that is supposed to be working on my gun doesn't even have it. They looked around and said they could not find it but would need to do some more looking around to see if they could find it. Also, their repair calendar is a Venusian. I was the gun was shipped out on the 23rd of April and they have had the gun for 16 days. I laughed and said we are already 15 days into this month and it was sent off on the 23rd. He said your right it has been 17 days ????. I chucked again and said my calendar is a little different than yours. He then said they do not count weekends or holidays unfortunately I do. I suspect this is going to be one of the Ruger horror stories. Although they seem rare my luck lately seems to indicate it will be. And they wonder why I do not want to send in my wife's LC-9 for repair. Dolomite
  23. At Bass Pro they have the 6.5" blued Taurus Judge on sale for $349. I am not interested in one in the least but I might actually pick one up just to say I own one. Dolomite
  24. Another sickening thing was the last statement. Officers agreeing to drop criminal charges in exchange for a cut of money is wrong. I know it happens everyday but never so blatantly. The other disturbing part is the "Ex Parte" part of the statute. Those loosing their money then not being notified of the hearing or being able to testify should be criminal. Everything in our justice system allows for both sides to be heard but not in this case. Only one jaded side is going to be heard. Dolomite
