  1. Actually the judge was arrested last week on federal charges. Dolomite
  2. Loading your guns. Mine remain loaded at all times or at least the ones I owuld use against zombies. Dolomite
  3. One thing you need to be mindful with nickel plated cases. Because nickel is harder than steel they can scratch the dies if it flakes off. And once the die gets a scratch it will leave an identical scratch on the cases. Dolomite
  4. If they wanted to make sure everything was legitimate with the judge's decisions they should not do it with another trial. They should just hire in a few attorneys to review the trial transcripts for errors. It would be cheaper for the citizens and less stressful for the families. And honestly if the judge had committed errors it would have been addressed during the initial trial so there should not be a reason for a new one. People have said they should be put to death but I want them to feel the daily misery and fear of being in jail for the rest of their lives. For most criminals being put ot death is an easy way out I don't want them to have. Dolomite
  5. I am so glad this has happened for the families. I couldn't imagine what they have gone through and to go through it again would be uncalled for. http://www.wbir.com/...rder-defendants
  6. Probably some first production mags. Mine are current production and work great. I have seen more problems out of the drum mags than anything. Dolomite
  7. What caliber? I used to but gave up on it because 223 brass is so cheap. Dolomite
  8. Well on a whim I ordered a set of those 45 degree offset sights. The ones with the A2 style 600 meter wheel for the rear and a standard AR style front sight. I got them in and they sat on my safe for some time, probably about a month or so, before I decided to install them. After installing I got to really looking at them and thought to myself these things are goofy and have no use. Then I took the gun outside and actually began using the offset sights. I must say I am really impressed with them and never realized how much I miss iron sights. I installed them on a gun with a red dot but these would really stand out on a gun with a magnified optic. That way you can make far shots and then use the irons for closer shots. Or if you have a failure of some sort on the primary optic these would keep you in the fight. They are going to stay on my rimfire gun for now but I may be ordering another set for my main gun. Or maybe I'll just move the rimfire's over to the centerfires when I need them. Dolomite
  9. My ProMag mags run great once they are properly fitted. I have about 600 rounds through each of my mags and they run great. Most mags should be fitted to the gun because there is such a variance between guns. Most people don't realize that is the problem with faulty mags. Dolomite
  10. Most people who tumble use too much media. I normally add the brass to an empty tumble then turn it on. I will add media little by little until the brass just begins to roll over on itself. That way the brass itself helps clean. With too much media the casings are shielded from each other and take a lot longer to clean up. And while it is tumbling add about 1/2 dozen drops of Turtle Wax car polish to the mixture, It makes the brass nice a shiny. Something else I did that seems to helps is this. I was low on media and needed a filler so I added a handful of airsoft BB's to bulk up the media some. It made the media clean so much better. Not sure why but it seems to help. Just make sure you use it on calibers where it won't get stuck in the cases. I normally used it for 9mm and 45 ACP. Dolomite
  11. The bump isn't the problem. It is the hammer face that is too high. If you compare the two you will see what I am talking about. And when you grind it down enough to where it isn;t a problem the hammer doesn't hit the firing pin squarely. Get a Hogue grip, you will wonder why you never had one before. They are by far the most confortable grip for any AR or Saiga. I have used the Magpul MIAD grips and they are tiring to my hand. Even when I replace the front and abck straps it still hurtI still get hand craps. Dolomite
  12. I will say this, dump the Tapco hammer if you haev ANY problems. The Tapco hammers are too high for the Saiga and drag really hard on the bottom of the bolt. My gun rans 100% than I installed a Tapco hammer and it would not run hardly at all. I put the orginal hammer back in and it is again 100%. I made my own puck to get the parts count up. I also polished the bottom of the bolt, replaced the first recoil spring with a 16 pound 1911 spring (that is what is in the reliability kit), installed the lightweight hammer/trigger spring, The barrel was shortened to 15" then a muzzle brake welded back on to bring it to legal length. I also installed a SKS vented top handguard (they drop right in place). It is by far the most reliable semi auto shotgun I have ever shot. It will be one of the kepper guns. Good looking shotgun. I have been contemplating installing a folder for a while. Dolomite
  13. I posted this in another thread and though it deserves its own thread. For CHEAP lube make your own. All you need is a spray bottle, 100% pure lanolin and isopropyl alchohol of at leat 91%. The higher the percentage the better. Get 100% pure lanolin and at least 91% rubbing alcohol., the higher the better. Then mix the two in a 8:1 or 10:1 ratio with the alcohol being the bigger and the lanolin being the smaller. Heat a pot of water on the stove until it is too hot to keep your hand in it. Then remove it from heat and let it set for a few minutes to equalize. Set the lanolin and alcohol in the hot water with the caps loosened. Leave them for about 15 minutes in order to heat up. This makes the lanolin more liquid like and helps it disolve in the alcohol. Put 1/2 the alcohol in the spray bottle then add all of the lanolin. Then pour the remaining alcohol in the spray bottle. Then cap it off and shake vigorously for a few minutes until it is mixed well. It should not seperate even after cooling. And to use it all you have to do is spray it on the cases and let is sit long enough for the alcohol to evaporate. The higher the % of alcohol the quicker it evaporates. Dolomite
  14. Most likely it is because the new brass was a bit undersize compared to fired brass. I know most Winchester brass I buy new is way eaiser to size than fired brass. Also make sure you trim them. They are never trimmed to length and some are even WAY over the max length. For CHEAP lube make your own. Get 100% pure lanolin and at least 91% rubbing alcohol., the higher the better. Then mix the two in a 8:1 or 10:1 ratio with the alcohol being the bigger and the lanolin being the smaller. I will heat a pot of water on the stove until it is too hot to keep your hand in it. I remove it from heat and let it set for a few minutes to equalize. I then set the lanolin and alcohol in the hot water with the caps loosened. I leave them for about 15 minutes in order to heat up. It makes the lanolin more liquid like and helps it disolve in the alcohol. I put 1/2 the alcohol in the spray bottle then add all the lanolin. Then I pour the remaining alcohol in the spray bottle. I thing cap it off and shake vigorously for a few minutes until it is mixed well. It should not seperate even after cooling. I have some that has been mixed for a few years now and it is still mixed. And all you do to use it is spray it on the cases and let is sit long enough for the alcohol to evaporate. The higher the % of alcohol the quicker it evaporates. Dolomite
  15. I wouldn't use it for any larger caliber rifle rounds but should be fine for handgun calibers or maybe 223. I know David, DLM37015 on here, was a dealer of Smart reloading equipment. I have a Smart electronic scale that works great. Dolomite
  16. I mean a running count. I think it would make it harder to to fudge the numbers. Dolomite
  17. I would love to see some sort of indelible ink mark applied to those that voted. It would eliminate 90% of the fraud that goes on. I would also like to do away with any and all forms of absentee voting. All voting must be done in person because if a person is that worried about who they are voting for they can at least show up in person. For military they would vote just like everyone else, in person. Voting while abroad might have been an issue 30 years ago but now with everything being instant because of modern communications there is no need to fill out a form then mail it in. Most voting machines are electronic anymore anyways so instant counting is easy. Something else I would like to see is voting times extended to 24 hours. And all polls across the nation open and close at the exact same time. There is no excuse as to why they couldn't make it in person within 24 hours. And for that day make all public transportation free. Make all voting machines electronic and make the results available instantly. That is when one person casts their vote it will be visible in the on going tally before they even exit the booth. And the presidential tally will not be part of a precinct or a regional result but will be part of a national tally. The presidential tally needs to be displayed live on public television for the 24 hours that the polls are open. And the winner will be obvious within minutes of all the polls closing. No more waiting and counting results for hours because they just allows those who are corrupt to alter the results. I also believe anyone that has no reportable income and is on welfare or public assistance, other than unemployment, should not be allowed to vote. Only those who actually contribute to the system should be allowed to vote to make changes to that system. On top of that I do believe that those who have paid all their debts to society for their crime(s) should be allowed to vote. But if they are still on probation, parole or on a sex offender registry should not be allowed to vote. And finally, anyone who has ever been convicted of voter fraud should be barred from ever voting again regardless if they have paid all their debts or not. It is a sad state of affairs when the winner of American Idol had more votes than any president in history. And I know that those who vote on American Idol winners can vote more than once but that is also the case with our political elections any more. Dolomite
  18. I have been told cell phones can negatively impact these. As well as all kinds of other electronic devices. PC's as well as their monitors can cause issues because of the elecromagnetic field they have. But there may be hope if all that fails. People who use them say to leave them on all the time and never turn them off. Some also say that you cannot use them for at least 24 hours after turing it on. This is just to finiky for me. I don't use a balance beam but I do use an electronic scale just not this one. When my Lee Perfect Powder measure doesn't throw a perfect charge then I grab the powder between my fore finger and thumb and bring it up to weight. I would say turn it off for a couple of hours then leave it on for the next couple of days and try it again. Dolomite
  19. Have you actually chronographed the loads? Factory numbers are never correct from my observations. Energy levels are not just velocity but also bullet weight. I'll add more later. Dolomite
  20. UTS-15 Polymer Tactical Shotgun http://www.americanrifleman.org/blogs/uts-15-polymer-tactical-shotgun/ #!Looks very interesting. A little pricey. Dolomite
  21. Look up Parker and sons in Strawberry plains. He is the best bluing expert in our area. He has limited hours now but has been bluing firearms for over 40 years non stop. Dolomite
  22. In the pistol it worked great. Single holes out to 25 yards. Problem was the cheaper subsonics I normally shoot were giving me 1 foot groups at 25 yards. I would rather have the gun shoot cheaper ammo well than the expensive SSS rounds. I have about 4 barrel stubs at the moment that were all practice barrels. I think tomorrow I am going to make a final barrel with 16 twist. It will work out better that way. I am going to keep the SSS barrel in case I have a need for it but I don't really see a need for it. Dolomite
  23. So it had a threaded barrel made from an old 10/22 barrel. It was a 16 twist barrel which works well for most 22's but I wanted more. It also had a sporter chamber which isn't ideal for accuracy either. But because I wanted something more, more accuracy as well as a harder hitting subsonic round it now has a 9 twist barrel installed. It is also threaded for shooting the 60 grain Aguila SSS rounds as quietly as possible. It also has a match chamber that engraves the bullets upon chambering. I have yet to fire the SSS rounds for accuracy but I have fired standard rounds and although they are way over stabilized they seem accurate but most importantly I had no baffle strikes in my suppressor. My next bit of testing will be with some of the SSS rounds to check for baffle strikes and then accuracy testing. And even with the 60 grain bullets the twist is too fast. The miller formula shows 2.98 and ideal is ~1.40. I'll post results in a few days Dolomite
  24. Actually case length can have an effect on pressures in pistol or rifle calibers. Not so much in revolvers. If the case grows enough to cause the barrel throat to pinch closed the case mouth upon chambering or if the crimp is so heavy it allows the case mouth to pass into the throat area. In either instance the case mouth can't open and release the bullet. And if the bullet can't be released then pressures can spike. Dolomite
  25. But Gander Mountain WILL price match any other store. They just need to be able to call the store to verify the price. Dolomite
