That he is. Very knowledgeable about S&W pistols especially. I think any gun that has a steel slide or bolt would be a gun to last a lifetime. Forget about any gun that has a potmetal slide and I would shy away from aluminum ones if you have an advanced firing schedule. I am a Ruger kind of guy so that is my preference. And any of the MK series guns will last a generation or two, maybe even longer. Dolomite

RELOADERS PARADISE.....*HUGE* sale.....
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in Events and Gatherings
I am glad I could help. I went into this with helping them out being my main focus. I am so glad I could help them and get them on their way to their retirement dreams. I can honestly say I am a bit jealous of what the next part of thier lives have in store for them. I can honestly say it was a real pleasure meeting with them as well as meeting all the TGO'ers that showed up. It was obvious that this gentleman has spent a lifetime reloading and made sure to take care of his equipment.. I am working on getting some of the stuff they have left sold for them. They do have some very nice but very specialized equipment yet to get rid of. And it is stuff that is going to be a real DEAL for the right buyer. Dolomite -

RELOADERS PARADISE.....*HUGE* sale.....
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in Events and Gatherings
The sale is, without a doubt, still on. Canebreaker is not involved in any way shape or form now. I honestly knew getting him involved wasn't the best idea. Sorry for all the drama but this is going to be a great sale to help out some people in need. Dolomite -
RELOADERS PARADISE.....*HUGE* sale.....
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in Events and Gatherings
So why did you agree to buy it all in the first place? Seems to me you should have done it a little differently than how you did it. They could have been selling the stuff but waited on you because of your word. Now they are being left scrambling over the weekend to try to fix it. And I honestly hope the excuse you gave me wasn't just an excuse to back out. If it was just an excuse then karma will bite you for what you said. Either way the couple selling the stuff will be taken care of the best we can here. AND BTW, DO NOT CALL ME AGAIN OR ASK ME FOR ANYTHING!!! Cold day in hell and all that. Dolomite -

RELOADERS PARADISE.....*HUGE* sale.....

So much for the agreement you had with the owner as well as the other parties involved. Dolomite -
I was at a Walmart in Knoxville and they had what appeared to be a 6920 for $1,097. Walmart might be the go to place for tactical gear soon. They also sell DPMS 308 AR's for $897. Dolomite

RELOADERS PARADISE.....*HUGE* sale.....
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in Events and Gatherings
This is realistically the place and time to stock up on reloading supplies and equipment. With November and the next 4 years so uncertain this is the best time to get what you need. As we get closer to November supplies are going to dry up and go up in price. Dolomite -

Someone is going to get hurt if they have wads. Wads are lethal within a certain range. But it is still even more less lethal than less lethal. Dolomite

I try to be on every night for a few hours. There are some reliable members who come in and chat. It is a great feature and allows us to bounce ideas off of each other as well as answer that quick question you might have about something. So I invite all of you who can to try the chat out a few times and see its benefits for yourself. Dolomite

And her son has now made her rich. She is going to sue for a wrongful death and be awarded enough money that she will never have to work again. Dolomite

I am sure OhShoot will be along shortly. He has both and did a apples to apples review of both. He was, or may still be, a Mini fan but I know he said his AR shoots better. Dolomite

Latest Class III: Guesses on Wait Time
Dolomite_supafly replied to Semiauto's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Their backgrounds are a bit more than the TICS backgrounds. Take me for example. I have and have had several clearances. So when I submit my paperwork the see I no longer have clearances. So they have to determine why. This takes a little longer because of this. When speaking with the guy at the ATF he said we all need to call our reps and demand funding if we want things to improve. The time of 6 months has only been that way for 6 months. One year ago it took my form to clear in 97 days, door to door. Just wait until it becomes 18+ months like in the late 80's and early 90's. And every time I have called lee with a problem, which is rare, they have shipped out the part I needed with no questions asked and free of charge. I would venture to say Lee is among the best with their customer service. Dolomite

Rather than buy a kit buy individual items you want. You will end up cheaper and better in the long run. From a previous post of mine: These are all available at Midway Usa. They normally have coupons online so you can save money as well. lee-perfect-powder-measure lee-auto-prime-hand-priming-tool-shellholder-package-of-11 frankford-arsenal-micro-reloading-electronic-powder-scale-750-grain-capacity lee-auto-prime-hand-priming-tool lyman-electronic-scale-powder-funnel-pan lee-classic-cast-breech-lock-single-stage-press hornady-lock-n-load-press-and-die-conversion-bushing-kit hornady-electronic-caliper-6-stainless-steel This is what it would minimally take to load. You would still need to buy the particular dies you need as well as bullets, primers and powder. I suggest the primers and powder be purchased locally. I would also suggest buying jacketed bullets in the begining, they are easier to deal with than cast. Cast bullets add another facet to reloading. People are going to say the Lee stuff is crap but I have used all these items for a few years now without a single issue. For the money the Perfect Powder Measure can't be beat. I prefer a electronic over a balance beam. Balance beams take a lot longer to settle than an electronic. No need to tumble your brass to clean them. Get some Lemishine at Walmart. Add a table spoon to some water and soak your brass for 24 hours. Every time you walk by give them a shake to aggitate them. Rinse them and let dry. Brass will be very clean and useable. This setup may not be as fast as a progressive but it allows you to learn the machanics of it. Or you could wait for the next show and get what you need from David, DLM37015 on here. He has everythig you could want or need to reload. $177 as is on the list above Dolomite Here are a few things to do to save money at the cost of convienence You could do away with the conversion bushings if you don't mind setting up your dies each time. I find it hard to make identical ammunition when I have to set the dies up each time. You could also do away with the powder pan and just weigh the powder in the casing. You just need to make sure to zero out the scale for each casing because they all weigh differently. You could also dip out the powder and not use the Perfect Powder Measure but that is a very slow going process. The Press has a priming tool on it but that is also another slow going process. You are also ted to your press to prime cases. With the hand primers you can watch TV while priming cases.

Magpul saying they meet or exceed military specifications doesn't mean they have been evaluated in military channels. And it is that evaluation that is required in order to become acceptable for issue. If we are that adamant that our soldiers have these mags we should be calling, writing or emailing our represtitives demanding the mags be evaluated. I want what what the soldier wants but ultimately I want what will keep the soldiers alive. And they are not necessarily the same. The mil spec standard are there for a reason as is the dress standards. And when soldiers are allowed to make personal choices regarding either our military quits being as efficient. And the military needs all the efficiency it can muster. Dolomite

I am not saying MagPul mags are bad just saying that milspec aren't bad either. Seems everyone loves to hate them yet the milspec magazines have worked well for over 50 years. It probably has nothing more to do with it than the fact the magaziens must meet the milspec standard. And no matter how you shake it Magpul PMags will not meet that standard, at least not until the standard is rewritten. And looking at other plastic magazine failures in the world it is unlikely at least not until an extensive amount of testing is done. I will try to post the standard for the military magazine. I am almost positive it requires it to be metal of some sort and more than likely aluminum. I do know that it requires a certain amount of welds on the backstrap of the magazine. Dolomite

A loose fitting firing pin stop and extractors can cause problems with cycling. The biggest indicator to a improperly clocked extractor is random FTE's. Because the extractor can be in the correct position for one shot then not for the next it can seem random. This random cycling can drive some people mad. Another big indicator is the same FTE issues with differnt ammo. If you are local to Knoxville maybe we can meet at Norris or some other place to shoot. I will pull my Ed Brown parts out and swap them into your gun to see if that corrects your issue. And rather than send it back to Taurus you could buy the Ed Brown extractor and an Ed Brown firing pin stop. This will fix most cycling issues with a 1911. Then after that the other thing that might be causing issues is the recoil spring and that is a $6 part. The extractor and firing pin stop are likely cheaper than the shipping to Taurus unless they are covering the shipping costs. http://www.brownells...FIRING-PIN-STOP http://www.brownells...MATCH-EXTRACTOR And just to know how strongly I feel about these parts I consider it mandatory to replace these parts on every 1911 I have owned in the last 5 years. Even if the gun is cycling fine I still swap these parts in to prevent issues. Because they are made by the same maker this ensures they fit together properly and make sure the extractor is correctly clocked. If you do decide to replace the parts yourself make sure they are by the same maker otherwise they may not fit together well and will only lead to the same results. Dolomite

The dist covers get lost in the first reloading of the mags. They also issue mag covers for aluminum mags but they are lost as well. As far as the dent goes yes the aluminum mags can get dented but it takes a lot. And I suspect an impact that will dent an aluminum mag will also damage the Pmags. Another thing is in the artic PMags become brittle. There have been a lot of reports of them cracking when dropped during a mag change. Dolomite

The GI m GI mags are not junk mags. I have used all kinds and I prefer the aluminum mags over any of the others. There is nothing a Magpul mag can do that a GI mag can't do. The dust covers of the Magpul mags aren't for dust, they are to keep the lips from spreading during long term storage. Not an issue with aluminum. Dolomite
