Self-Filling Water Bottle System
Dolomite_supafly replied to GlockSpock's topic in Survival and Preparedness
They have giant versions of those around the world. They look like billboards and have a spigot for water. http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/green-tech/a8875/a-billboard-that-condenses-water-from-humidity-15393050/ Definately cool. -
I say make some loops using Velcro straps. About the most secure without being over complicated.

CZ Shadow, Single Action Trigger Issue
Dolomite_supafly replied to Monkeybat's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I would start by backing out the over travel screw in the trigger. Over time they can turn in or out and change their settings, even with blue Loctite. And if that doesn't seem to fix it then I would hose down the area where the hammer is with WD40. Let it set for like 10 minutes then blow it out with HIGH pressure air. Use an air compressor as those cans of air do not have enough pressure. After trying those two if it still is not working right it might be time to do a detail strip to look for wear. Not sure if CZs can have the same problem but dropping the slide on a 1911 can ruin the sear in a 1911 but it causes hammer follow not what you are experiencing. -
The Ithaca may not be beyond repair. I might just go from a nice collectible to a nice shooter. If you are not interested in the PPK, or if you want to resell it to me, I might be interested. I have always wanted to do a silenced PPK like my buddy Bond, James Bond, uses.

E-file form1 for SBR timeline.
Dolomite_supafly replied to maroonandwhite's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
If you have a control number AND it has a "date submitted" then it is being processed. Sometimes on form 1's you can submit and it can take 3-4 days for it to populate the "date submitted" column. But generally during that time they send an email letting you know it is "pending research" while they verify documents. This is generally for items that were not previously serial numbered like form 1 silencers or home built guns from like an 80% lower. And anytime you need to contact them you need to include the control number because that is what they mainly use. In the past they would not take any action on mine unless I gave them the control number. -
They would have flipped their lid had I pulled out both of my passports at the same time.

Bullet casting with minimal space
Dolomite_supafly replied to nextgenshooter's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
If you can smell it you are getting harmful fumes. Even outside may not be enough if there is little or no wind or if it is blowing in your face. I thought I was doing enough to protect myself and poisoned myself. After that I started becoming anal about anything to do with lead. I wear a mask, a real mask, anytime I turn a pot on or handle them up until they are powder coated. After casting I strip naked before coming in then go straight to a shower. I no longer cast unless it is something I cannot buy. -
The ones I gave you are from Bayou bullets. I liked them so much I bought another 2K of them.
-
I use them for storage as well as for my ballistic program. Every iPhone I have, except the one I currently use, is identical as far as what is loaded on it.
-
Powder coated bullets act just like jacketed. Matter of fact your barrels end up cleaner when shooting powder coated bullets. That is the ONLY way I will shoot cast from now on.

Gun shop owner refuses to sell gun to eligible customer
Dolomite_supafly replied to DaveTN's topic in General Chat
If that is the case then I believe EVERY business owner should be able to refuse ANYONE for ANY reason, including color of skin, religion, disability or any other reason. Heck they don't even need to give a reason. There is nothing free market about our system any more because our government picks the winners so those in government can get richer. It has nothing to do with what is best for the country and everything to do with how rich those that represent us can get before leaving office. We live under a ruling class now and we are about to see how bad it really can be for us in about a year. We applauded the gun shop that refused to do business with Muslims and we should applaud every business that is able to make that choice. -
10x, 12x or 16x?
-
You are more than welcome to shoot it if you bring your own ammunition. I assume it will stand up because there are thousands of them out there. I am really leaning hard towards a Super Sniper scope for it in either 12x or 16x. I am also reading the Millett precision scopes are holding up too.
-
But who is wanting to shoot it? Matter of fact, you will probably get to shoot it before I do.

Let's agree on a finish already!

I had a TSA agent tell me my diplomatic passport was not a valid form of identification.

It is just the upper. I will use a standard AR15 lower receiver. If I end up shooting it more than a couple of times I will toss a bigger brake on it. Right now I am trying to figure out what optic to toss on it that doesn't cost more than the gun itself AND will survive. Millett seems to be getting decent reviews on 50's. This should be less than 20 pounds too. Their complete gun with a 29" barrel is under 18 pounds. Hope the brake is effective. I have not seen a single bad thing said about Ligamec.

I would like to see the actual statute stating someone can be charged for something that has not occurred yet. -
Man with guns detained at Bellevue Baptist Church (Memphis)
Dolomite_supafly replied to R_Bert's topic in General Chat
Another thing to consider is they could be desensitizing responders. After 3-4 calls about something at the church that turns out to be nothing the first responders might think someone else is crying wolf and slow their response. Plenty of reasons why they could be doing it but none of us know why. -
Just picked up the RH10 and is is perfect other than one thing. The gun looks straight, looks great and has the amazing Century trigger in it. The flaw is the rear sight. It is like an RPK rear sight but the barrel does not allow the front sight to be seen well. 10 minutes with a file should fix it.

But those are against the law while standing around making statements generally is not. -

Gun shop owner refuses to sell gun to eligible customer
Dolomite_supafly replied to DaveTN's topic in General Chat
I believe anyone should be able to refuse to do business with anyone for any reason. Let the market determine whether their choice is the right one. I have zero problem with a store owner refusing to sell to someone as long as they have not gotten any assistance from the government. If they have then they should but if they have not they should be able to refuse. If I want to refuse to sell to someone because they are a protected class that should be my choice and I should never be forced to do business with someone I would not normally do business with. I am disabled but I completely understand if a business owner doesn't want to accommodate me in order to sell me something. For a long time I refused to sell anything to anyone from California. I have even ignored offers based on their opinions and nothing more.
