  1. Was it a single clear bottle in a pack or was the whole pack clear? I do belive it is against the Ebay rules to sell food stuff. On top of that how is he going to verify the buyers age? And then I am sure there is some regulatory requirements to sell alcohol across state lines or at all for that matter. Might call Bud and see what they say or if they want to buy it back. Dolomite
  2. If I had my way this is how all businesses must be posted. First, a gunbuster sign that is at least 12" in diameter. Second, posted on the outside of the main entrance door of the establishment, not inside or on a side window Third, it must be at least 48" above the ground but no more than 72" That is how I would have it in a perfect world. That way it would be impossible to miss and allow me to see it without even getting out of my car. If the business isn't posted in this manner then then a person entering with a firearm cannot be charged criminally for carrying past the sign. And even if it is not "legally" posted a person MUST comply with the owner's wishes when asked to leave. With that being said I also believe that a property owner that prevents someone from carrying a firearm should be held liable for injuries if those injuries could have been prevented by someone who was armed. ************************************************************************ In reality the sign, and whether it is legal or not, has no bearing on whether you can carry there or not against the owner's wishes. An individual's rights are trumped by the rights of the owner of the property. The can preclude you from doing anything, including the carry of a firearm on their property, if they want to. Additionally, the private property owner can ask a person to leave for ANY reason and they do not have to give a reason. Although a business or private property owner cannot prevent you from defending yourself they can legally dictate how you are allowed to defend yourself. A business or private property owner can dictate that you carry a Nerf gun in order to be on his property and you MUST comply to remain on his property. An individual or private party has ZERO rights afforded by the Constitution on private property. You have no right to free speech, not right to carry firearms, no right from unreasonable search or any of the other ammendements while on private property. Dolomite
  3. Bravo is one of the best, if not the best, companies that is within most of our budgets. It is one of the few companies that I will recommend whole heartedly. Anytime I have heard of a problem the company takes a very proactive approach to getting the problem resolved to the customer's satisfaction. Their products are great, their customer service is great but most importantly their price is great for what you are getting. Dolomite
  4. That is a good point David. I wonder how many of the people in here saying they will not enter a business that is posted actually go to the gun shows. Gun shows do not allow you to carry your loaded firearm either and I have yet to read about anyone boycotting the shows because of it. But they are posted for safety reasons. There is a difference between posting for safety reasons vs. posting because of political views. There is a difference and I think some in this thread are not seeing the difference. And I have yet to see a hospital that ISN'T posted. I guess all you guys who will not enter a posted business probably need to look into holistic or faith healing. Problem is a lot of people put themselves on a high horse until there is a benefit. I bet some people would suspend their values if the gun they have been looking for could only be found in a posted shop for 20% less than anywhere else. Dolomite
  5. Anything I have that I might be able to trade you out of it? Dolomite
  6. Realistically how hard can a toad bite? I know I have played with toads and frogs my entire life and they have never been able to do anything to hurt me, including bite me. I would feed toads all the time and they would bite me from time to time. Dolomite
  7. A couple of questions on your plan. Do you own the land you are planning to bug out to? Are you already living on that land? Reason I ask is there are plenty of people who plan on bugging out and I wonder where. Most of them say they plan to head to the hills which is a huge problem because there are already people in those hills living there right now. And those people are going to defend their location or at least I know I will. And don't expect others to openly welcome a large group of people. I know I won't welcome anyone unless they bring a significant skill to the group and honestly I can't imagine what that skill might be that isn't already covered. There are less than 5 people that will be invited in and all others will be turned away with overwhelming amount of force. I will say this to all of those planning on bugging out to the hills. I will defend what is mine, including land, from any squatters or looters. After all if you show up and try to take what isn't yours you are a thief. That includes wild game, plants or anything on my property even if I do not need it or not using it that stuff is still mine. I may have more than I need to survive but I will not share any of it with complete strangers. I have made preparations to ensure my survivability and I would be a fool to give any of it up to complete strangers. It takes a lot of land to support a person year around. An acre or two isn't going to cut it. It will likely take 10's of acres per person. And what makes the average person think they are going to make it ouf of a population center before the other 50% of the other people leaving the cities clog the roadways? What is going to happen is the highways are going to clog like Rita/ Katrina leaving leaving them stranded and with the option of walking to the "hills" or walking back to the cities. And when you start walking you are going to be able to carry far less than what you left with or even left behind. Bugging in has some real advantages and if I lived in a city I would, without a doubt, stay put. First is you already have everything you are going to have without the need to transport it to a new location. You can call for help from those around you while in a remote location you cannot call for help. Another big advantage is you know the area. You also know who friend and who foe is or at least have a good idea. Travelling exposes you to more dangers. It is also easier to defend a building or high rise than a tent in the woods. Those buildings are going to protect you from the elements and be easier to keep warm in and survive in for the average person especially those used to living in the city. Food, at least initially, will be easier to come by in the cities as well as potable water. There are literally a few weeks worth of potable water in your water heater and toilet bowls and that is if you don't ration. With rain gutters, collecting water is much easier too. And as disgusting as it might sound cities have tons of rodents that can be harvested for food. If any type of relief or supplies is handed out it is going to be in the population centers first. The average person is going to have a far easier time surviving in the city than in the "hills". But if you must bug out and have any hope of bugging out you must be packed and ready to go in a moments notice. Vehicles have to ALWAYS have the gas needed to make it to that location. When the SHTF gas will be gone within minutes unless you are at the pumps pumping your gas as it takes place. You need to also realize that there are going to be a lot more people than just you heading to a bug out location. This is going to clog the roadways like we saw during Rita/Katrina. The only way you might get a head start is if you are in a position to get some notice, like LE, emergency services or the government would get to prepare. Otherwise it is going to be a race to get out and if you are not in the lead you will find yourself stuck in the rear. And once you are stuck you and your stuff become vulnerable to roaming bands of thugs set on taking your stuff for themselves. And honestly it would be easy pickings. As far as your bug out location you need to own the property you plan to go to. This can give you a little bit of a delay in the squatters that will show up. And once there the squatters are not going to readily leave even if you tell them you own the property. If your bug out location is "public lands" you are not going to be the first there, it will be like winning the lottery if you are. You are going to find yourself surrounded by thousands of others who have the same plan. Most people don't realize that best case scenario crops will be edible in 4 months. If it happened today we are looking at close to a year before crops can begin to be harvested. So that means you are going to have to transport that much food because you are not going to be able to kill a years worth of food with everyone else trying to do the same thing. And as much as I hate to say it in order to survive people must loose their conscience. They must be willing to turn those less fortunate away unless they bring a substantial advantage to the group. People have this grand illusion that they are going to be able to find virgin land to live off of. Look around, how much public land do you see? And of that how much is going to be free for the taking, not much if any, by the time they make it? Dolomite
  8. It is obvious from the video the driver was distracted in some way. It wasn't like the light had just changed, it had been red and the brakers were not hit until the last moment when they were already in the intersection. All the studies I have read puts a person who is texting at higher risk of an accident than someone who is above the legal limit. And because they are at a higher risk the penalties should be higher if caught texting and driving. Maybe not loose their driver's license for a year but the same fines and time in jail as well as community service. Or maybe make it so if they are caught texting and driving they are not allowed to posses a cell phone for a year rather than loose their license. We all lived without cell phones 15 years ago. The only way to stop it is when the inconvienence of getting caught outweighs the convienence of using it while driving. Dolomite
  9. I posted in his thread that you sent him a PM. If we allowed members, without Benefactor status, to begin posting in the classifieds then people would not support the site. It also serves to prevent spammers from posting BS in the classified section. The biggest reason is to prevent those who try to make a quick buck by ripping off members. Dolomite
  10. I bought 3 of these and REALLY like them. And another bonus is they are CHEAP! http://www.ebay.com/itm/223-tactical-steel-latch-FOR-Charge-HANDLE-/150592225785?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item230fff01f9 Dolomite
  11. It sounded like the UAV's I heard overseas. I have never seen one in this configuration. Dolomite
  12. Anytime. Even some of the bigger "kids"seemed to enjoy it as well. Dolomite
  13. It looked like and ultralight with the control surfaces at the front. It was a SMALL plane. It was a single person if a person was in it. The engine sounded like a weedeater engine but bigger. It was moving slow too. Dolomite
  14. If they have court proceedings there then id doesn't matter you can't carry there Dolomite
  15. Actually people are sued all the time for actions that were no fault of their own. Just because someone is sued doesn't mean that they are going to loose but the costs involved in mounting a proper defense is in the thousands of dollars. And people can initate a suite for any reason they want and the courts MUST hear it no matter how silly it is. People do not need an attorney to sue someone, all they need is the proper paperwork and the filling fee. And the filling fee can be waved if they can prove a financial hardship. I am not a shop owner, I do not work in a shop yet at least twice a month some idiot wants to point a gun at me. It is the shop owners choice to no allow firearms just as it is the customer's choice to not shop there. It is all about choice and when you start forcing your will upon another human being then don't get upset when someone does the same to you. Dolomite
  16. You can see by the photo it presents with round, evenly spaced dark spots on the top of the foot. I am sure there are others with this condition as it seems pretty common in our area. It can last weeks or even months and is related to how much sun she is exposed to. It generally occurs only during warmer weather as well. There is a cure but I can't seem to get her to go along with it. The cure you ask? Stop wearing Crocs. Dolomite
  17. Goodbye Google. We have been friends for a very, very long time but I think we no longer share the same interests. I just did a search in shopping for "rifle scope" and it came up with nothing. Doing a regular search still shows results but not in the shopping tab. Even with that I am done because of the stance and not because I can't find anything. Dolomite
  18. I think the reason why gun shops post isn't the same reason say restaurants or other stores post. It isn't about hopefully preventing a crime with a sign, which doesn't work, it is about preventing an accident. Gun owners, as a group, are not exempt from idiots. We have just as many idiots among our ranks as any other group. But when a idiot from our ranks makes a mistake it can be deadly. And we have all seen them. Just like the dealer who shot himself that was mentioned earlier. He was an idiot for showing someone his cool laser sight by projecting it onto his hand then pulling the trigger. Or those people who think the trigger is a place to rest your finger when not shooting. If you want to see how many idiots there are in our group stand at the check station at the next gun show. It is amazing how many guns get pointed at the officers then when the officer opens the action a round falls out. Then the gun owner first has a dumb look on his face then laughs about it. Same thing can be said for people coming into the gunshop just on a smaller scale. Where it happens a few dozen times in a day at a show it might happen once a week in a shop but it is still happening. And for me it would be concerning. In the end we need to accept the wishes of the store owner no matter what kind of store it is. If they don't want you in there with a gun you have a choice, remove your gun or go somewhere else. Regardless of the sign and whether it is legal you still have to follow the wishes of the property owner. The only thing that changes by not having a "legal" sign is you may have a defense for walking past it but you will still be in trouble for not leaving when asked to. Property owner's wishes trump your right to do anything on their property including carry a firearm. They are not removing the right to defend yourself, they are just changing the way in which you can defend yourself. The Ammendments of the Constitution are there to address abuses by the government, not abuses by private parties. Laws address abuses by private parties and as it stands right now the law tips towards the property owner. Dolomite
  19. Considering those that are being desensitized are idiots the producers are probably just making the shows easier for them to understand. People want things to be as simple as they can so they can understand them. That is why a lot of these shows are getting dumbed down. Us, as a society, are dumber now than we were 20 or even 10 years ago so in order for a show to attect viewers it must be dumbed down as well. A person isn't going to watch a show that they don't understand or makes them feel like they are even dumber than they really are. We all loathe Red Jacket but they have done a lot of good for us believe it or not. They were the first real gun show on a major network. I have talked to people and because they know I am into guns they mention how cool Red Jacket is, no doubt because of the show, and how they are going to buy a gun.Recently there has been a lot of people talking about American Guns. They may not realize it but they have done a lot of harm even though they are a bit more toned down. The reason is people think that the prices on the show is what guns really cost. That is a question I get asked among friend regularly "Does that gun really cost that muhc?". I tell them no and it is for the show to be more entertaining. Dolomite
  20. That is great. Any gun show on television is a good thing because it desensitizes the public to the thought that guns are bad. Dolomite
  21. When were you down there? I have made that walk hundreds of times myself. The worst part about going into Mexico back then was realizing you lost your fee to come back into the US. I would always put the money in a pocket so I wouldn't loose it but I did a few times. When I did I would find myself on the Mexican side of the border next to the Chiclet kids begging for change from fellow Americans going home. The best part? Coming across and buying a CHEAP pizza from an off duty Dominos driver within minutes of being in the US. Nothing better for a long night of drinking than a greasy, stale pepperoni pizza. Bought many a sandwiches at Fred's Rainbow Bar on the side street behind the main bars. Fred's was run by a couple of American twins. Rumor had it that they were albinos but I think they were so white from lack of sun from sitting in a bar all day and night. They made some of the best sandwiches anywhere and on top of that you could get $.25 Tecate or $.50 Coronas. Then it was onto Spanky's for some fun downstairs and their mini beer bottles that were like a 4 ounce bottle of beer. Then before the night was over we found ourselves in the Cosmo. Something interesting about Mexican Coronas. The bottles were opaque but not made that way. It was from people scratching their initials into the bottle. The bars would turn the bottles back in to be reused and some said they would be sold again the following weekend. But anytime you bought a Corona you looked it over for YOUR initials. Dolomite
  22. As a person who has made sevearl stocks it is not for the faint of heart or impatient types. I have an inletting tool that I will sell you if you want. They sell for about $30 but I will take $20. I used it about 3 times then realized it wasn't for me. I make stocks a little differently than most. I start out with two pieces of wood rather than a single piece. I make sure that both pieces are tall and long enough for what I need but only 1/2 as thick as I need. I then lay the action onto one of the pieces of wood and make a tracing for the action to clear. I then use a piece of posterboard to make a copy of the stock. Then I mirror the one half onto the other half. Then I use a router to open up the two halves for the action. After making sure the action is good then I glue the two halves together. I finish the action inlet with small chisels. For the action and barrel channel I use a rasp even though it is a VERY long process. When it is time to drill for the action screws I make some pointed screws that will thread into the action. Then I set the action in the stock and give it a smack with a rubber mallet. This leave indentations for the correct placement of the holes for the pillar beds. As far as the look of two pieces of wood most people will never notice providing the sanding job is done correctly. And for me I generally coat the wood with something subdued anyways. I will also bed the action into the stock. Dolomite
  23. Richards Microfit also makes several styles for the Mossberg 810. http://www.rifle-stocks.com/actions_available.htm http://www.rifle-stocks.com/ I will say that I have read that their 100% drop in generally require a little bit of work to be 100% drop it but nothing more than a little sanding in the channel. They may have solved that issue by now though. Dolomite
  24. I understand the fraud part of it but I am talking about something else. I am sure there are a lot of cases of "gifts"being given to those who tell lies. Had it not been for their lie they would have not gained even if it was a gift. The "gifts" were on condition of the person being a true hero. Or those who ask for a discount. The discount is a "gift" and not a right. And then later it is found out they were not what they said. I would love for people like that to be charged criminally. Dolomite
