  1. Did they find a different place Dave? I know the location from a week or two ago wasn't zoned correctly so they couldn't use it. Did the zoning change? The location from a few weeks ago would make a GREAT place for the customers. Dolomite
  2. Your current description and the one I linked are nearly identical. Both are the same age, from the same location, same exact job so I think they are the same. it is possible the avatar got dumped somewhere during the conversion. Dolomite
  3. I imagine out of a carbine length barrel this thing would be moving. I imagine it is about the same as a 5.7x28 except in a inexpensive platform. If it is a blowback carbine it will likely be tempermental. And a gas gun would work but it too would be finicky. With such a lightweight bullet and a small case there is going to have to be some serious R&D. I have also read they are getting ready to produce reloading dies for the caliber as well. Making brass out of cheap 9mm would be great but I suspect the standard 9mm case is too short to work. But that would mitigate the cost of shooting it. Necking down pistol calibers has been around for a long time. I can remember when I was young drooling over "varmint" 1911's that were in the magazines. It had a 10"-12" barrel with a scope rail. The calibers were all based on either a necked down 45 ACP. They had a 22, 25, 30, 35 and 40 calibers. There might have been a few other calibers but I don't recal them. The slide was a standard slide and it looked like any other 1911 except it had a longer barrel. Next time I see a bunch of 80's gun magazines I will see if I can find the ad. It was in almost every magazine throughout the 80s's. Dolomite
  4. Call Predator on Tuesday. They do this every week so they would know EXACTLY where to go for the signature. (865) 521-0625. They may or may not answer right now as they are going through a move. You also realize you need specific fingerprint cards? Each set of cards has a specific ORI number for the jurisdiction and the ones submitted must have the ATF's ORI. Predator will also have the fingerprint cards you need if you don't already have them. I do believe Knox County charges for fingerprinting. I know when I had to get mine do they were done downstairs in the city/county building but that was YEARS ago and not for NFA stuff. Dolomite
  5. I have serious issues with the mother as well. The mother is saying she is the victim as well. She might have been but her priority is to protect her child. And by not stopping this she is just as guilty as the father. At one point the mother says she joined in the beating to protect her daughter. I don't care how scared you are you MUST protect your child. She could have called the cops long before it came to this. She is not the victim here. I guess it is good the daughter has forgiven the mother but I don't think I could. I have watched several videos and you can see this has affected the daughter substantially. On top of this she had cerebal palsy at the time of the beating, and that is what it was, a heinous beating. This will shape the daughter's life but hopefully for the good. In cases like this I believe an "eye for and eye" would be an appropriate punishment. Beat the father like he beat his child for 7 minutes. I would be willing to bet he would be screaming that beating HIM is cruel and unusual punishment. He should, at a minimum, be removed from the bench because he has control issues. And a person who can't control themselves generally have difficulties in making the right decisions. What I would really like to see is him go to prison for a while and put him in general population. The inmates, because of all the media coverage, will know what he is in for and dispense their own form of punishment. Then, maybe, the father will understand what it is like to live in fear day in and day out as well as receive random beatings. Dolomite
  6. I have done all kinds of field expeient ways of making slugs. I have made the wax slugs and accuracy is hit and miss. At 100 yards I have had 3 of them hit realy close to each other then the other two go random directions. I have had them hit the ground 25 yards to the 100 yard line as well as fly over the berm. The key to make the slugs is to heat the lead shot with the wax. If you don't then you will only get wax down about 1/4". By heating it all together then the wax will go all the way to the bottom. Something that is pretty nice about these wax birdshot loads is they stick together until they hit something. I set up a 1' square cardboard box and shot it. The entry was the size of the slug but the exit was about 3". So the slugs would readily come apart upon impact with anything if cardboard forced them to fall apart. I have even used pure wax slugs with no shot mized in. They will not cycle a semi auto but they do shoot as accurately as the wax/shot loads inside of 25 yards. I also cast soft lead slugs for use in my Saiga. I cast 1+ ounce .690" round balls as well as 1 ounce Lee keyed slugs. I load mine a little differently than most. First I buy the cheap 100 rounds value packs from Walmart for $23. Then I grind the top off the top of the shell and pour out the shot to be melted into slugs. Then I drop the slug, be it ball or keyed slug, right down into the shotgun shell. I put them right in the hull where the shot was and then I use my home made crimp die to fold the open top over to secure the slug or ball in place. And because the opening is tapered it also helps cycling. After the crimp there is only about 1/4" opening in the end of the shell. It looks like a birdshot 22lr round does with their crimped mouth. This narrow tip makes it cycle so much more reliably. The key to making these cheap slugs loads is to use Federal bulk pack. The hulls work really well with slugs. Winchester will not work because there is a bump inside the hull that makes seating the slug impossible or at least too hard for me to feel comfortable with. The best part about doing it this way is I can shoot slug loads for less than .25 a shot. Another big advantage for me is even though these are slug loads they are realitively light kicking. After all they are the same powder charge and same projectile weight. Dolomite
  7. It is because of the extra shooting. Any amount of practice helps but when you practice more your skills improve more. If I haven't shot in a week or two I can see a difference in how I shoot. That is why I try to pull the trigger on something every single day. Most days it is my 22/45 but I also shoot my carry gun from time to time. I will shoot at least 100 rounds on days I do shoot which is at least 5 days a week. If I don't then I loose all my abilities. Shooting is a perishable skill for most of us, especailly me. Now there are some that are just natural born shooter but 90% of those are women. I am trying to get out to the moose lodge with you but have been tied up with a bunch of distractions lately. I am really looking forward to it, maybe next week. Dolomite
  8. That is something nice about where I live. Even if it is going to be 100 degrees during the day I wake up to 60 degree temps. When we built our house we didn't put any air in and we would open the windows at night to let the cool air in then close them in the morning. Out insulation was so good, R19 in the wall and R30 in the ceilings, that the house would stay cool most of the day. It is also wrapped to keep drafts down. I have since added central heat and air but I still get up and let the cool breeze come through the house in the morning most days. Dolomite
  9. I bought Ken Onion Shun Classic Chef's knife for my wife when was complaining about not having a nice sharp kitchen knife. It was surgical sharp when we got it so I also got her a cutting glove to wear. Turns out I am the only one that got bit by the thing. I have since had to sharpen it a few dozen times and is very high quality steel. Takes a edge very well and keeps it. Once I went through and sharpened all the knives we had after some complaining about dull knives. Well a few cuts later, between the two of us, and I decided sharpening all the knives wasn't the best thing. So I went out and bought several red handled knives so we know which ones are SHARP. I then proceeded to put a very, very sharp edge on those. Now we don't have to be as careful with all the knives, just the red handles and the Ken Onion. One thing about the Ken Onion knife. I would definitely buy it again. It is a very, very nice knife even for the price. Dolomite
  10. Although not as high as the smokies I live in a very rural setting on the side of a mountain. We are surrounded by woods in every direction and along with that all the wildlife that comes with it. Yesterday we cam home to three turkey hens with a bunch of chicks. They were eating some old fruit we tossed out in the yard the day before. And a few days ago we watched as a box turtle looked for the right place for her to lay her eggs. And for the past week a young hawk has been screaming for its parents. Funny thing is the same parents come back every year and raise a chick and have for at least 5 years. We don't have as many deer this year as previous years but we still see them at least once a week vs every day last year. We have a creek in front o four house but it has turned into a wet weather creek. When I was a kid it ran all the time but now it only runs when it rains and sometimes in the winter. We talk about moving regularly but I do not believe I could live in the city ever again. Dolomite
  11. A mildot reticle is the easiest reticle to use. The only thing easier is a laser range finder. With mildots, vs MOA dots, the input measurement is the output measurement. That is if you measure the target height in yeards the distance will be in yeards. Or if you measure height in feet the output on the other end of the equation is feet. And the equation is SIMPLE, as in in your head easy. The formula is the target height x 1,000 then divide that by the number of dots the target covers on the reticle. Take a 2 yard tall person. Multiply that by 1,000 giving you 2,000. Then lay the reticle over the target. Say 4 dots cover the target. So you divide 2,000 by 4 and you get 500 yards as the distance to the target. Or if the same target only covers 3 dots then the target would be 666 yards. Or a deer with a .5 yard tall chest cavity. multiply that by 1,000 giving you 500. And if 2 dots cover the chest cavity then the deer is 250 yards away. The only real variable is knowing how tall the target measurement is. Easy, easy math unlike MOA reticle. Dolomite
  12. I know Academt Sports on Kingston pike has a bunch of different types of pistol cases. Gander Mountain has some as well but not as many. Dolomite
  13. You really need to call me. I have something you might like to have and I will make you a deal you can't say no to. Dolomite
  14. I find this to be the case for me as well. Now there are exceptions but you will not find a local store that will bea the prices on 100% of what they stock. You might find a Ruger cheaper at a local store than you can get online. But the next local store might have Smith's cheaper. Also, stuff purchased online or out of state is not tax exempt. A lot of people do not realize this but there is a "Use Tax" on all out of state purchases. You are required by law to pay that "Use Tax" which happens to be the same as out high sales tax. So if you are buying online and had to pay the "Use Tax" then it would be a lot cheaper to buy local. It is just a lot of people either do not know or do not care. Dolomite
  15. Here is a picture from a week later. Going Monday to get the stitches removed. Now I just need to wait on the bill and that is likely going to sting more than the actual injury. Dolomite
  16. "bully" is the new evil now so you are about to see it used a lot more by both sides. I have come to the conclusion that I will never vote for the same person more than once. Seems like a lot of candidates go up there with great intentions the south once they see the corruption money they are missing out on. Dolomite
  17. $450 seems a bit high when they are a lot cheaper new. Maybe they have accessories you are not mentioning. If you don't plan on changing anything the 452 is just as good as the 455. Dolomite
  18. We are really close to switching as well. What I hate more than loosing channels is when they add or switch them around every week. It seems like I spend a few hours a week going through my channels and finding out what I have now and more importatnly where my regulars were move to. We have had customer service issues that sucked as well. They overbilled us by $200 one month. A few calls later and they agree to refund it in a few days. I gave it a week and saw nothing. Called back and they appologized and said they could refund up to $80 immediately and then gives us $10 off a month for the next 12 months. I agreed to this and a week later saw nothing. Called back again and then they said they would just send me out a check for the $80. A few weeks later and no check plus no discount on my bill. I call back again and within minutes I had $200 back in my checking acount. I guess they just wanted to make sure I REALLY wanted my $200. And when we upgraded recently that required a new dish the tech promised us new controllers. Well that never happened either. Good thing the old universal controller worked with the new equipment. We had a receiver die on us. I called to have it replaced. They needed me to go to the setup screen and read off the receiver number before they could proceed. I tried telling the agent several times the receiver would not boot up but she never got it. I had to call back two more times before someone would let me use my name, phone number, SSN, address, account number and the amount of my last bill to verify it was me. Dolomite
  19. On the flip side he did buy about $150K worth of the machine guns for $75K. The suppressed MP5 alone is a $20K+ item alone. And every single full auto AR is worth $10K+. The show is entertainment and as such probably scripted 99% of the time. Dolomite
  20. Could be a scam as well. Not that hard to have envelopes printed. Dolomite
  21. You cannot use a FFL to increase your personal stock of weapons. Dolomite
