I believe he was saying the dealer had his pistol listed on GB and was from VA. Not that he went up there and bought it. Dealers down here belly ache all the time about how they don't make any money but they do or at least the hundreds of deals I have watched they do. Most of their money is made on used guns but they do make a fair amount on new guns as well. I have seen it hundreds of times where a deaker will buy a used gun then double that for an asking price. I have seen them take a $300 pistol in on trade and give the seller $100 trade in value then sell it 3 minutes later for $250. I have seen the same dealer asking $579 for the Keltec a PMR-30. I know he is getting them for 1/2 that because CDNN sells them all the time for $299. So the dealers are making money on people who are either too trusting or don't know the value of their gun. Another thing, as a seller you need to know the value of your gun. All to often people don't know the value of their guns and let them go way to cheap. I watched a guy sell a very nice Colt SAA first generation for nearlty nothing. The dealer belly ached about how it was an old gun and notbody wanted those. In the end, if I remember correctly, the Colt sold for under $300 to the dealer. I walked by a few minutes later and the dealer had $2,500 on the gun and would likely get close to that. I have threatened to do gun appraisals at the shows. Every dealer I mentioned that to looked at me like I had killed their first born. I even had one dealer say I might not make it out of the parking lot if I did. I know if someone did that they could make a lot of money doing it. Even if you only charged 1% of the apprasal price you could really clean up. There are local dealers that BEAT online sellers. It is the dealers that do not have a fancy store or realize they do not need to make $100 on every sale. One in particular is responsible for nearly all my new gun purchases in the last 2 years. I'll call it my 3-3-3 plan seeing how every politician has some catching number equation to fix everything. That is anyone who receives ANY benefits must show up 3 days a week, spend 3 hours on those days digging 3 holes. What do you do the following week? Show up 3 days, spend 3 hours filling in those 3 holes. And that is what you do while you are on benefits. Make this the requirement to receive assistance. I bet we would lose a lot of people on the roles because they will not show up. And for those who can't physically work because they are REALLY handicapped I present the 5-5 plan. They can spend 5 hours a day for 5 days a week answering a phone to a government office. Imagine how much more efficient places like the DMV, courts and most other government offices would run if they didn't have to answer the "are you open" question every time the phone rings. Dolomite

Just saying both sides have become so corrupt that it has become a choice of the lesser of two evils rather than who is the best for the job. And neither would be my top choice. Without a MAJOR upset in the way this country is run we ARE doomed for failure. And Romney, Obama, current congress or senate isn't going to change that. Dolomite

This is why we are doomed. Today I stopped to get gas at a local station. A young lady, mid 20's, was in there buying a bunch of small snacks and beer. I didn't think anything about it until I saw the EBT, food stamp, card. I thought to myself that she can't use it to buy beer. Well they make it so easy that they can swipe the card and it only pays for authorized food items. It gives a revised total for the alcohol and other items not covered. She then pulls out cash for the stuff not covered. They are making it to easy for these abusers of the system to do it. If they are that needy they do not need to be buying alcohol. And on top of that she was so high she had problems keeping her eyes opening. She was staggering as well. Why the hell is she using our public funds from taxes to buy food so she can free up cash for her illegal drug or alcohol use? I really wish they would drug test EVERY applicant at least once a year. Or if they are caught buying alcohol more than once a month they loose benefits for the following month. I am sick and tired of my taxes going up and up and up while my public services like LE, ambulance and fire keep going down. If I call 911 with an emergency it can take up to one hour to respond and they readily admit that because they do not have the funding for more than a few officers on duty during peak hours. Sorry for the rant but I get tired of seeing this every single day. Dolomite

Probably the same thing if Romney wins. Maybe not at the same rate but still the same outcome. Hell, look at the Bush years and you can see a lot of infringements on our Constitutional rights during his presidency. All they want is control. They control a substantial part of the population with government programs right now. Dolomite

If all hell breaks loose I will have water, drinkable water. We only filter our well water because we want to not because we have to. Since adding the hand pump I have ZERO concerns about water. Last year during the outages I found out water was my weak spot. Not I can have water to drink and flushable toilets because I am on a septic system. Having not to dig holes is a great thing. Not really the same but another awareness thing. I was once shooting a revolver from a seated position. I rested it between my knees and pulled the trigger. The gas from the cylinder gap cut my jeans and burned my skin. Definitely something I didn;t think about at the time but am very aware of now. Dolomite -
You are provably right. I never thought of it in that light. To me clean means clean or just like new. I suspect mine will last a lit longer than 3k too because I am filtering clean water. Dolomite

I have seen several people try to ride the hammer on 1911's only to have their thumb slip off. In the military one of our policies said no lock and cocked carry. To some that meant a round chambered and hammer down. And there was several AD's until the policy was revised to say no rounds chambered. Riding the hammer down is never ideal. It is possible with due care but I would rather have a decocker than use my thumb. Dolomite

I think the amount a person sweats has a lot to do with it. My gun gets wiped down with oil and nothing more. And that isn't very often in all actuality. I have had a single grip screw get a little Rudy but that was because they wee new and didn't get oiled. Dolomite

http://www.berkeyfilters.com/cleaning-black-berkey-filters.htm Here is where it says the filters can be cleaned 100 times. If the filters lasted 3,000 gallons WITH cleaning then they would only last 30 gallons without. We have had ours for about 4 months now or close to 400 gallons without a cleaning. Long overdue if the life was only 39 gallons. Dolomite
-
On top of this you can clean them up to 100 times using a green scrub pad. Also, the life depends on the water going in. If you are filtering mud then of course the filters won't last as long but with clear water it should last a very long time. Dolomite
-
Even if the actual performance is only 1/10 the advertised performance they will last linger than most people who would buy one. Dolomite
-
Each black filter is rated to 3,000 gallons. And most come with two filters giving a rating of 6,000 gallons between cleanings. Now you can add additional filters to increase that as well as filtering speed. And because they can last 100 cleanings a two filter system will supposedly last 600,000 gallons or over 500 years at 3 gallons a day. Add two more filters to double the life and filtering speed. Shooting the tip of one's finger is hardly comparable to the other thread. Dolomite -

Just so everyone knows. It was not me and all my digits are safe and currently still attached. Dolomite -
We fill ours up at least once a day and have for months now without a single problem. They are ceramic so you can't man handle them. I suspect those that are complaining expect them to impervious to rough handling which is not the case. Our filter does get moved around a bit so it does get jostled and we have ZERO complaints. I have had to deal with an issue with the company redarding a missing part. Because of their attitude and willingness to help I would be willing to bet they would make things right. Dolomite

I also hear those who carry M&P's are better looking to and surrounded by all the young ladies. I carry a 1911 so I don't know about that. Dolomite

I had a relative tell my wife yesterday that he has no problem with the 2nd ammendment as long as the weapons used are the same when it was signed. He said they were good enough back when they signed it. He is one of those "poor me" types that has been in trouble with the law. He, as well as his mother, are both liberal hippy nutjobs. My wife is probably not going to be too happy about what I have to say. I have my idiot nutjob family and she has hers. At least we have eachother. We are going to see a lot of knee jerk reactions because of what has happened. And generally when something is a knee jerk reaction it is WAY overboard. That is what scares me, laws are going to be passed that not only take away our freedoms but also criminalize a lot of them. If you have never talked to your representatives now is the time to let them know you will not support anything that restricts our freedoms. Dolomite

Are things really getting worse daily....

I do not belive they will ever be where they should be. We are destined for disaster and there is nothing we can do about it. When we, as a country, go bankrupt people are going to starve when their free meal tickets run out. And when that begins to happen we will be a third world country. I wish it wasn't so but nothing is going to change the course we set for ourselves almost a century ago. Dolomite -
Making G3 mags fit in Cetme
Dolomite_supafly replied to Ebow1's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Funny, the G3 Mags I had also fit the CETME without issue. I wonder if your CETME might be a bit out of spec. Dolomite -
I would give Mike's a call in Tazewell. He has a lot in a lot of different flavors. (423) 626-4323 His prices are generally lower than most online retailers. And his selection is AMAZING. You walk into his small shop and think to yourself "this is a lot of guns" only to realize he still has 2/3's of his inventory downstairs. He also has a very large selection of handguns. Dolomite
