  1. That ony applies to recevier extensions (buffer tubes) and stocks. And 90% of the parts out there are for commercial buffer tubes. A commercial stock will fit both a commercial buffer tube and a milspec tube. But a milspec stock will NOT fit a commercial tube and will only work on a milspec tube. Or at least not without some work. Dolomite
  2. Your gun is in GREAT hands. Tim does phenominal work. Dolomite
  3. +1 The AR is the most versatile platform on earth. You can have one lower and literally dozens of uppers in various configurations for various jobs. You can even have them in different calibers as well. You can have uppers in 22 as well to make shooting cheap. But yes, to replace a COMPLETE upper is two pins and 20 seconds. Just to make a suggestion because you are new. Buy something with either a 9 twist or an 8 twist barrel with 9 twist being the first choice. Forget the 7 twist, at least for now, because it isn't as versatile as the 9 or 8 twist and is a little more advanced. But other than that get what you want. And the best thing about AR's is the are all made to the same standard. This means you can buy ANY part and put it on ANY AR with the exception of the proprietary AR's but those run into the thousands of dollars. But for 99% of the AR's out there parts are easily replaced. Dolomite
  4. Sampson rails are some of the lightest out there. Dolomite
  5. So how is it Gary Johnson can be on the ballot in all 50 states and Ron Paul cannot? It it worth the risk of Obama winning to vote your heart? That is likely going to be the outcome unless we all come together. I will concede that Romney and Obama are ideological twins on the issues we all care about. But it comes down to their bedfellows. Those who Obama finds himself associated with are nothing more than thugs who want to destroy everything I believe in. Romney on the other hand is a marionette to more conservative group. And it is those conservative leaders who will likely benefit us more so than Obama's henchmen. Also, our biggest concerns should not be with who will be president next but with ALL of our representatives. All legislation starts there and not with the president. And it is those conservative representatives that we hopefully put in office who will be approving the president's, who ever that is, supreme court nominees. In a perfect world Ron Paul, Gary Johnson or another like them would become president. But rather than have a person like them fill a single seat I would rather those like them fill the halls of Congress and Senate. After all those two groups could bypass the president's wishes as well as hold him accountable. Dolomite
  6. I might be interested in your quad rail. If you would PM a link to which one it is and a price. Also, I have a free float tube for sale myself. Mine is brand new and never mounted. It is not a quad rail though. I think that most quad rails are too large for most hands, especially with the rail covers. And one more thing. Predator Custom, which is in Knoxville and local to you, has the YHM diamond rails in stock and for sale. They can also install them if you want them to. Dolomite
  7. And their new safe will be a walk in. They are moving into an old Loomis Fargo or Brinks office. SO they had tons of security as well as a HUGE safe. They are downgrading a bit on size but more than makes up for it with air conditioning as well as the showroom. I know I will be down there in the next few days to check out their new digs. Dolomite
  8. +1 I know Sampson offers a free flot rail that clamps over the existing barrel nut. Dolomite
  9. Also, dry ice is carbon dioxide. Meaning it has twice the oxygen molecules. And it is oxygen that causes steel and other materials to oxidize, or rust. I may be off a bit in my theory but I think that adding Co2 to the container is probably not a good thing. I would also make sure to have the ammo in the largest room of your house for a few days before sealing it in the vacuum bag. Do the same for the gun. And finally do the same with the tube before sealing. The reason is your house will always be dryer than the outside or even a garage. And the reason for the largest room is it is less susceptible to major shifts in temperature which can cause condensation. Dolomite
  10. Rather than a screw on cap I would glue two end caps on the tube. That way you would never have an issue with moisture. And when you need access it is less than 3 minutes with a hacksaw. After all, how often are you going to open it up after it has been sealed? And with two end caps the cost is reduced substantially. Threaded end caps are pretty expensive compared to regular glue on types. I would also soak he gun in synthetic oil. Seal it in a vacuum bag. For ammo I would seal it loosely in a vacuum bag with dessicant. Hou do not want to leave it in any type of paper packaging because most modern papers have acids in them. Then toss the gun and ammo in a container just big enough to minimize air space. Dolomite
  11. There are legitmate uses for LEGAL pain relieving narcotics and I am not talking about MJ. There are thousands upon thousands of people out there that are living better lives because of the narcotic medicines they take. I have seen shows related to this were there are 70 year old women taking a gram of opium a day and living a life they couldn't before. They are taking them as prescribed and not chasing the high. It is those who use narcotics illegally or abuse the ones they get legally that are the problem. Because of the euphoric effects most abusers chase that and do not stop when their pain is relieved. And that is where legal users get themselves into trouble. If you treat narcotics like any other medicine and take them as they are supposed to be used they are very effective. If a person were to only want pain relief and not chase the euphoria most narcotics are very effective. As a matter of fact probably better than anything out there. Dolomite
  12. That is really neat. Reminds me of when I was a kid I would tie line to sticks. Dolomite
  13. That is a very nice gun. It does look like it is like new. That was a good find for hundreds more. Dolomite
  14. A little bit of a change of subject. How would we get a vote on legalizing it started? I suspect if put up for a statewide vote it would pass. I would love to find something to helps issues. I have even spoke to my doctor about moving to a place better suited to my medical issues. Dolomite
  15. I wonder if a 22 conversion will work in those? Also, when you decide you have had enough of it let me know. I might be interested in it. Dolomite
  16. I think majijuana should be legalized. There are benefits to it for those with medical problems as well as the fact as it is not any worse than alcohol or tobacco. And people scream "it is a gateway drug" but the reason why is the same guy who selling marijuana now, because it is illegal, is also selling harder illegal drugs. This exposes the marijuana smokers to harder drugs when the dealer says he is out of MJ but has heroin. If MJ was sold in a gas station then the MJ users would never meet the seller of other more hardcore drugs. I have never smoked MJ but I have read a lot of the medical benefits of it because of my problems. I would like to have it as an option. Then there is the belief that I do not need someone else to tell me what is not good for me. I should be allowed to ingest anything I want so long as it doesn't impact anyone else. And if it does impact anybody else then hold me accountable and not the MJ. Dolomite
  17. That is what I have decided to do. If they are sitting in office the day of the election they are not getting my vote. I don't care if they are Republican or Democrat, they are hopefully voted out. That way when they take office they know they will be going back into the workforce very shortly. Once they realize that then they will make positive changes for everyone else in the workforce. Another thing that would be great for this country is get rid of the "R" and "D" next to a candidates name. I would settle for that to happen on the ballot only but in a perfect world I would like the words "Republican" and "Democrat", or any variation, against the law to be uttered. This would force people to actually research the candidates and not just vote party lines. Once people start voting for what they actually want then the country would be more intune with its populace. Maybe not to your particular liking but I would rather people vote on what they personally believe rather than vote for some letter next to a name. Right now we have a bunch of representatives that do not represent us, Republican and Democrat both. They represent their own interests and do whatever they like in order to achieve their personal goals. I cannot think of a single representative that isn't part of it. They ALL, Democrats and Republicans alike, work out back room deals in order to further their own goals while stepping on the necks of those who support them financially. It has gotten to a point now that representatives don't go to Washington to make a positive change for our country, they go to because they don't want to miss out on the cash cow. They have forgotten what it is like to have to actually work hard for what you have. The one thing that is really bothersome to me is they want to control us. The government has enslaved those on welfare in order to control them and their vote. I would be really upset with my representatives if they took my life's hopes and dreams away from me for what amounts to less than minimum wage. It also controls those who work through the tax system and promises of better days. I believe those "better days" will never come or at least not without a major shake up of the current system. Our representatives as well as governement offices pass laws or change laws to control us and not make the country a better place. They stiffle those who work hard in order support those that don't. 18. If the Dems really wanted to get some votes they could offer to repeal the Hughes Ammendment. Hell I would vote for them if they would repeal it. Dolomite
  19. I have seen PMR-30's for $299. Can't get much cheaper than that. I would buy one in a heartbeat if it were in 22lr. But not in 22 mag. I know they are planning on a conversion for the mag but I don't want to have to buy a gun I won;t use and then spend more to be able to use it. Dolomite
  20. I bought some from Bass Pro shop last year. I can't remember if they still carried it a few weeks ago. Dolomite
  21. It doesn't matter where your body lays at night, only where your heart is the rest of the time. Seriously, anyone from anywhere is welcome here. Dolomite
  22. I have actually turned a shell out of aluminum specifically to fit my wife's 45 acp bolt gun. It had a 4" "barrel" so I could load it with walnut hulls and kill bees. I am not as good as some but I am better than most. I need primers more than anything. I also need to buy more 22lr but my local WM is out. I am going tomorrow to buy more subsonics that actually work and not the Remington crap. I hate the shop that carried them because he is very tempermental and actually calls you names. You can walk into his store and not here him say a single word to you, which is a blessing in disguise. It is when he gets riled up that you get an earful. I cast everything I shoot and I am getting a bit light on lead now. I have a local shop that has been collecting for the last month so I should be good again for a while. Dolomite
  23. But we all know that we are just one bad day away from snapping Dolomite
  24. I have used them overseas and never had an issue. Dolomite
