  1. Neck sizing only should not have any affect on accuracy. If anything it might increase it by reducing variables. Now if you were FL sizing before and went to neck sizing you are going to have to work loads up again to tweak the loads. Hard extraction and a sticky bolt are normal for neck sized guns after a few firings when neck sizing only. I would say ever 4-5 loadings you need to use a body die to bump things back into shape. A lot of factory ammo is smaller than SAAMI spec. That is so they WILL work in any gun. And when you resize them down to what is SAAMI spec they can seem a bit tight. Dolomite
  2. And Canada can import Chinese stuff. I know the Norinco 1911's were very nice to build on and in most cases they are more expensive than some American made 1911's now. The prices are also very, very cheap. I can remember when some MAJOR 1911 smiths would prefer Norinco's over the 80's-90's vintage Springfields. I would take a chance on a $429 M14:http://www.marstar.ca/dynamic/product.jsp?productid=75635 Or $350 for a CZ clone:http://www.marstar.ca/dynamic/category.jsp?catid=75662 And $159 for a JW15:http://www.marstar.ca/dynamic/product.jsp?productid=75411 (they are known to be very, very accurate) Dolomite
  3. And that is why you need a magazine with more than 10 rounds. I seriously doubt the 3 would have been hit with just 10 rounds. Glad to see the owner won his life but he will likely face a slew of civil suits for wrongful death that will likely bankrupt him. It is so sad that the families of these POS's will be able to sue. It was their upbringing, or lack there of, that likely caused the bad guys to turn to a life of crime. I wonder how it would be received if the victim of a crime could sue a criminal for mental anguish? Or the families for facilitating it by years of neglect of the bad guy leading him to a life of crime? Maybe if we held people monetarily accountable for raising their kids maybe they would give a crap how they raise them. Unfortunately most people who fall into this category probably don't have any money to be awarded. That is why they sue, they have nothing to loose and everything to gain. Dolomite
  4. As good as any other. If you notice the keyhole mark on the side. I bet you can find a lot more uppers with the same mark lower. That is the forge mark so all uppers with that same mark came from the same forge. The only difference will be in the machining and today with all the CNC stuff they are going to all be identical. The same forge supplies S&W, some of the Spike's as well as plenty of others. Dolomite
  5. I think it takes a conviction to be classified as a felon. He may have done it but until he is covicted he is still innocent or at least that is how I thought the process works. Even if someone is charged it does not make them guilty of anything. Dolomite
  6. I put it together using a Garrison Manufacturing kit. They are long since gone. I did go through and thin the barrel some to make it lighter for the wife. Dolomite
  7. Talk to DLM37015. He has been there and done that. From now on he carries factory loaded ammo and even keeps the boxes until that ammo is replaced. Dolomite
  8. Actually not as much as you think. David has the best prices on all reloading supplies. Other than a random sale here and there David cannot be beat by ANYONE. David is also a great guy that IS a shooter and reloader. He has a wealth of knowledge about all aspects of reloading. Dolomite
  9. If a buyer has an issue with a seller, or vice versa, the mods should get involved. It works out much better than hitting a -1 button. And some infractions require more than just a -1 IMHO. We take a neutral approach and investigate it then hold those accountable that need to be. I know it sounds heavy handed but we try very hard to make sure both the buyers and sellers on here are protected. And that the transactions go as smoothly as possible. All it takes is a welcher or two to ruin the trust we have amongst our members. And when that happens people are afraid to sell or buy anything. ******************************************************* People need to realize that we are a family and as such we should be here to help each other in their time of need. And going around making the veiled insults or hitting ALL the -1's for a member do no good for the board or its members. It makes people less likely to help when the time comes. We are in a unique position as far as websites go. We can and do meet each other on a regular basis. And all I ask is that the members act the same on here as if the person were standing in front of them. Dolomite
  10. Make sure you use Lee Alox on thoes Missouri bullets. I used them for years and had leading problems until a friend told me to tumble lube them using Lee Alox. No more leading problems Dolomite
  11. If I had to choose it would be TN or somewhere in the SW. I loved Texas and New Mexico. The weather was nice and there is TONS of public lands. No need to be a member of a range and no limit on the distance you can shoot. I wish there were more public land in Tennessee where you could go shoot. Dolomite
  12. The LWD lower had issues in the past. Hopefully they have them fixed by now. The issue itself wasn't the biggest concern, telling a customer to sand the lower to fix the problem is. Dolomite
  13. Just out of curiosity, why Leupold and not Nightforce? I like Leupold stuff but I think a lot of their stuff is overpriced for what you get. I also like the reticles Nightforce has. Dolomite
  14. Seems everyone has forgot a BIG one in the 9mm carbine market. The AR. My wife's AR has at least 8K rounds through it and other than hiccups with certain HP's it is very, very reliable. It is the most reliable gun I have ever owned. Also, they run even when dirty. I cleaned it at about 3K and again a few months ago when I stripped all the Krylon off of it. So we had at least 4K rounds through it since the last cleaning. You can find mags for it for under $20 for steel mags that run right. They also use UZI mags after you cut the mag catch slot. They take all the same accessories as a standard AR. Her 9mm AR will be with us until it gets passed to our son. Dolomite
  15. Try looking at the Homepath website. They are a lot of forclosed houses through Fannie Mae/ Freddie Mac. The selection isn't like Bank of AMerica but the prices are also not what Bank of AMerica asks. We followed a proerty that had 24 acres and a ~1,800 square foot brick home. It was a horse farm before it was foreclosed upon so nearly all the land was level and useable. It had a nice pond on the property as well. It sold recently for $168K. In 2008 the house alone would have been worth almost that. Another option is buy the piece of property you want then build your house to suit you. I know locally there have been a number of lots that have sold for cheap. Dolomite
  16. One more thing, do not be fooled into getting a BDC type reticle. They never match the intended caliber(s). A standard mildot is a better option and if you want to use it for a quick holdover make a cheat sheet. I have one in the objective cover and when I pop it open there is my "quick" data. And one thing I would recoomend is getting a first focal plane scope. That way the calculations are the same with all magnifications. Otherwise your reticle willl only be accurate at one magnification. And as someoen already mentioned, get a scope with the same adjustments on the turrets as on the reticle. This makes on the fly corrections so much easier. Dolomite
  17. Nightforce. US Optics. Premier Reticle. Pick one that suites your needs. US Optics makes the scope to your specs. Leupold is nice but they are not the best value out there. BTW, what caliber is this going on and what ranges are you expected to shoot at? Dolomite
  18. Something my wife and I have talked about is if we come home to someone in our house. I am not sure it would help in your case but being able to block the bad guy in could help catch him. There is no way to get around a car parked in our driveway so if we come home to a car at our house we are just going to park our car in the drive and walk to a neighbors as I call 911. Maybe your wife can do the same that way they get caught at least. Cameras are a good idea but a long with that I would let it be known there are cameras. Preventing a break in is more important that trying to catch them after the fact and get your stuff back. Beware of dog signs are also a great deterrent even if you do not have a dog. I would be willing to bet a beware of dog sign, a cameras on premises sign and a alarm company sign would likely send the bad guys elsewhere. I would not put them all in the same place either as if staged, maybe the flashiest one out front then the others around the back where they are pulling into. The flashy one out front could also deter other bad guys as they are driving around looking for a place to break into. Dolomite
  19. Ok, I have seen issues first hand with a Sig 238. Acting exactly like your 938. Know what I did to fix it? I greased the rails. Guns that ride on full length rails NEED grease to run well, especially new ones. Once the guns have a few hundred rounds through them they tend to run better. I would be willing to bet if you were to add some molybendum disulfide grease it will resolve the majority of your problems. Oil is pretty useless as it tends to run out as the gun warms up. Oil also atracts dirt and debris while grease doesn't. What I mean is with grease dust and debris settle on the outside and with oil the dust and debris get worked in. Dolomite
  20. Mike's Gun Shop Three locations. The one in Tazewell is by far the biggest with the largest selection under one roof. And when you walk in you thing "that is a big selection" then he proceeds to tell you 2/3's are in his basement. He has the widest selection of guns I have evet heard of. If you are looking for that Ruger that was only made in 1997 and there were only 100 examples Mike will walk downstairs and get it. I have seen several customers come in and say "I have been looking for ever for XXX" then Mike goes and gets one from down stairs. Mike is one of the nicest guys you will meet. He is also very knowledgeable without being overbearing like a lot of people who work in gun shops. He is also willing to deal and haggle, expecially if you are spending a lot of money with him. I picked up my Ruger 22 pistol for exactly what Bud's charges. My wife's LC9 was $30 cheaper than anyone on the net. 1812 N Broad St Tazewell, TN 37879 (423) 626-4323 422 N Cumberland St, Morristown,TN37814 (423) 307-5195 222 N 19th St,Middlesboro, KY40965 (606) 248-7071 Dolomite
  21. Some of us here, and if the shoe fits wear it, get all worked up over any negative story about LE no matter how outlandish it may be. And they post topics over and over again as proof that ALL cops are bad. You can go back and look at previous posts of mine. I am very critical of "bad apples" within the LE community but this story is so over the top. Now if it turns out to be true I will be the first one to call for their punishment. I have a rare insight that a lot of people do not have. I spent the majority of my working life in LE. I have seen "bad apples" and I have fired them as well. I held all my officers accountable all the time. And I assume you are LE so you must understand how damaging a "story" can be even if it is not true. Imagine if it were you on the receiving end of this "outlandish" claim. It can just as easily happen to you on your next traffic stop. And then your career would literally be over. Even if it was found to be untrue you would for the foreseeable future be known for that and it WILL come into question during promotions and positions. We need to quit assuming the worst about LE until we have facts. Dolomite
  22. If you see him again just go on about your business. Do not confront him. Sometimes it is best to let things go. And what do you expect to win by confronting him? To me it is a loose, loose situation. In his feeble mind the situation is likely over and he won. We have all read about it where one person confronts another and it ends in a shooting. 9 out of 10 times it is the person who started the confontation who pays the legal price. Trying to scare him is only going to escalate a situation that is likely over and done with by now. If you do try to confront him you may find yourself in a place where you can't protect your family, be it in jail or in the ground. For me I would rather be able to protect my family. Now if he comes to you and escalates then deal with it but going looking for a confontation will put you as the aggressor. And if anything happens it will be viewed as your fault. And honesty there is nothing wrong with having a healthy fear. It is an instinct that is there for a reason. Nothing bad about it as long as it doesn't rule your life. I have been scared plenty of times and that fear has saved my life. Dolomite
  23. This happens in my jurisdiction ever election cycle. Officers, as well as those who support the sheriff's office, get fired for backing the wrong candidate. Put the wrong election sign in your front yard and you can find yourself looking for a job. Don't put any sign in your front yard and you could also be looking for a new job for not supporting the winner. I have known good officersthat have been fired for trying to remain as neutral and not picking sides. In the bigger jurisdictions they have a merit councel to protect officers. In smaller counties the officers have no rights or protections under the law. On top of this most smaller jurisdictions do not pay anything comparable to a decent wage. Our officers make $10.50-$11 an hour and have no health insurance. There is a substantial turnover in my county every time there is a new sheriff elected. Our current sheriff brought in most of his own crew once he was elected. Dolomite
  24. What is claimed by a plaintiff in a lawsuit does not make it factual. The truth will come out during court proceedings. And tread lightly on topics that bring negative light to LE. Dolomite
