Remington 870 FAB tactical stock removal?
Dolomite_supafly replied to Randall53's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I bet if you can screw the buffer tube out there is a nut in there. I would try removing the grip them look for a pin or screw holding the buffer tube in place. Not sure how close you are to Knoxville but I will help you if you need it. -
After 25 years with the perfect woman...

Trust me when I say she can COOK. Can't wait to make good on the offer to cook Jaeger Schnitzel for those that helped me out a few weeks ago. It benefits me just as much as those that helped because we do not normally cook good German food. If she did I would look like a giant bowling ball with arms and legs. She was the one that pushed me to make my first silencer. She has been bugging me to buy a machine gun but they are now out of my reach. As soon as I announced I bought a 50 BMG her first words were "I am going to shoot it". She knows how to bumpfire and still giggles when anyone else does it. Here is another reason why I love her so much. https://www.facebook.com/petra.revels/videos/10206129312926669/?autoplay_reason=ugc_default_allowed&video_container_type=0&app_id=2392950137 No too many women get excited about shooting machine guns. I would not want anyone else by my side during the best, and worst, of times. -
Anyone else getting a Microsoft Smart Screen Warning?

And it was a recent change because I have been using the same setup for the last month without any warnings. -
Anyone else getting a Microsoft Smart Screen Warning?
Dolomite_supafly replied to DaveTN's topic in Feedback and Support
I am running Windows 10 and I was getting the error with both IE and Edge. I thought I had it fixed through the Control Panel but I also had to disable it through IE. I also had to go into advanced settings to disable the SmartScreen filter while using Edge. -

Ok, fixed it. Got to internet options and under the advanced tab look for the SmartScreen filter. If it is checked then uncheck it and restart your browser. Works for me. -

The owner of the website has to report it as not malicious. We can report it as individuals but it did not affect it on my computer. BTW, this is the only site that this happens. I thought it was gun websites but all the others work just fine. -

Well that did not work. -
Anyone else getting a Microsoft Smart Screen Warning?
Dolomite_supafly replied to DaveTN's topic in Feedback and Support
Here is the fix: 1> Control Panel 2> System and Security 3> Security and Maintanence 4> Find "Windows SmartScreen" 5> Click "Change Settings" 6> Hit the bottom bubble that says "Don't do anything (Turn off Windows SmartScren)" 7> Click Ok It might ask for confirmation but after that it will disable the warnings. -

300 BO pistol build. Suppressor?
Dolomite_supafly replied to Wingshooter's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I have been hearing great things about Dead Air silencers but it is hard to beat SilencerCo's performance AND their customer service. I bet you could run a SilencerCo silencer over with a tank and they would replace it. I see them everyday taking care of customers even when it is 100% the customer's fault. That alone is worth it. -

I got two today, the one above as well as some dates on my arm. The dates are when I got marrier, when our son was born and when our granddaughter was born. I am probably done getting tattoos now. -

Now why the hell would an iPhone correct "woman" to "women"? I guess it is their liberal programmers. -
I decided to make it a little more permanent with my first tattoo.

I have placed a foam ear plug between the stock and barrel with similar results. I would place it at the end of the stock, shoot some groups and record the results. Them I would redo it again after moving the foam earplug back 1". It might take a few boxes of shells but it does work well.

300BLK pistol. Failure to Eject.
Dolomite_supafly replied to vujade's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Just for information, the 300 Blackout is no different than 5.56 below the shoulder. To make 300 Blackout from a 5.56/223 case you chop the 5.56/223 case at the shoulder. Both supersonic 300 Blackout and 223 loads run at the same operating pressures as well. Any 300 Blackout upper should run on any milspec 5.56 lower without modification. If a 300 Blackout upper will not work on a standard milspec lower then the problem is with the upper, not the lower. And if you MUST modify the firearm then modify the upper to work with the milspec lower and do not modify the lower to work with the upper. I have been involved with the 300 Blackout for a very long time. I am a moderator on a board dedicated to the caliber. I have designed four bullets for use with the 300 Blackout and one is even being used in factory loaded ammunition. I have probably seen every type of problem specific to the 300 Blackout. -
300BLK pistol. Failure to Eject.
Dolomite_supafly replied to vujade's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
These are not specifically for you but for anyone building an AR in 300 Blackout. Make sure to use a standard buffer, not a heavy buffer. Heavy buffers add felt recoil, especially on a gun that is already over gassed. I almost always recommend an adjustable gas block, especially if you are shooting anything other than subsonic ammunition or running a silencer. A properly tuned AR is amazing. It is very possible that your gun is overgassed when shooting supersonic ammunition with a pistol length gas system. The only way to fix it is to install an adjustable gas block. A heavy buffer can be used for troubleshooting but I would not leave it in the gun because it contributes to felt recoil. Because it worked fine initially then quit I suspect something has worked loose. I would start by checking the gas key to make sure it is tight. Next I would verify the gas block is still tight. If those look fine then I would install the fubber o-ring. You could also swap the bolt out with a known good one to see what happens. It is not a gas issue of it worked previously. We're any changes made to the gun? Did the issues start happening with different ammunition? . It sounds like the ejector might be the issue then the extractor. Take a fired case and stick it under the extractor. Then straighten it out a few times to exercise the ejector. This is to make sure it is not bound up from crud. If it still persists then I would look at the extractor. The extractor not only pulls the casing out of the chamber but also acts as the pivot point for the casing when it is being ejected. I would swap the extractor out with a known good gun to see it that is the issue. Some cheap extractors are not cut ax well as others and may not hold onto the casing strongly. At a bare minimum I would replace the spring and o-ring but honestly I would just install a completely new extractor. I can PM my number and we can discuss further if you would like. -
I am needing a place to shoot to at least 1,000 meters. I am needing to confirm zero with a new rifle I picked up. ORSA will not allow 50 BMGs to be shot at their facility so it is out of the question. I am willing to pay someone to shoot on their property as well as let them shoot it. Prefer something within an hour of Knoxville.

I have no complaints about the Knoxville Outpatient Clinic now. In the past they have had issues but the last time I was in, a few weeks ago, it was a lot better. Also, my wait has never been longer than a few days for regular appointments but specialists tend to run a lot longer.

As long as the shell holder touches the die and the decapper removes the primer all is good. I do not think my pin was flush either. If the brass has hit the ground you really should clean them before sizing. All it takes is a grain of sand to ruin your dies. Those that want to deprime the brass before cleaning should get a dedicated decapper that ONLY removed the primer without touching the brass. These are my steps: Clean (either with a tumbler or Lemishine) Apply case lube Size and deprime Trim Clean off case lube (either with a tumbler or Lemishine) Prime Load The only variation is I neck size and bump the shoulder as two different steps. This helps the brass last 2x-3x longer. I also chamfer and debur the flash hole.

I am enrolled in the program. I needed to be seen by a specialist but the soonest I could be seen at the VA was 3+ months. The VA tried to find a doctor on the economy but we could not find a single doctor in Knoxville who was willing to see me. By the time my VA appointment rolled around the issue had resolved itself. It is a great program but it is useless if civilian doctors are unwilling to see the veteran. I suspect the reason why no civilian doctors want to is because they are probably being paid well below the average.

There are plenty of crooks and phonies in every line of work but it seems as though the firearms community has more than their fair share of them. Gabe Suarez and Pat Rogers both fall into that category. I could never figure out how Gabe could teach considering he IS a convicted felon. Pat Rogers has a long history of lying about his experience. It seems like everyone is a sniper, SEAL, MARSOC, SF. etc. I never hear someone say "I was a cook" or "I was a truck driver".

You can also put a spacer between the sight and the rail to raise the sight.

changing caliber on an sbr
Dolomite_supafly replied to tmauto769's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I sent a message to the ATF regarding changes and what is required. My issue was the length did not match and I was told as long as the serialized part was registered that I would not find myself in any hot water. I will see if I can dig up the email and post it. -
Got my first unuseable canted sight AK
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Long Guns
I have bought no less than 10 Romanian AKs in the last two years and this is the first one that has had issues. I would put a current production WASR against any other gun on the market in the under $1,000 category. The ONLY gun that I would choose above a current production WASR is a DDI gun. -
I am a few hours from making my own. I have a barrel just waiting to emerge from a blank. I will be running a 3.5"-4" barrel with my F1 9mm silencer. I will be shooting 160g bullets. That silencer on my CZ P09 with those bullets sound like a airsoft gun.
