The big question - concealed or open?
Dolomite_supafly replied to Pat's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I say do both. I have been known to carry more than one gun before. Dolomite -

AAC 51t Blackout...
Dolomite_supafly replied to ProjectDexter's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Maybe it was a return that made it back out. Contact the seller and see what they say. Dolomite -
I have done both and I cannot see a difference in accuracy. Accuracy has more to do with the individual barrel than the break in. Will what the OP did hurt? Absolutely not. I make sure the barrel is clean before the first shot is fired because sometimes there can be debris from machining. My most recent barrel is a McGowen so I followed their break in. They recommend the break in not to improve accuracy but to reduce fouling. I will say it is the cleanest barrel I have ever owned. It does not foul and has, so far, continued to shoot as well now as when new. Dolomite

What those on welfare don't realize is they have given up their dreams and aspirations for what amounts to less than minimum wage. I know I would be pissed if I looked back at what my life had been and realized I had become a slave to the governments will. They are given just enough to keep them from trying. Dolomite
You know so little. I can say what I want you also can. there is no need for the nasty reply. I have children grown with their own children and they don't spank or hit their kids as I did not. I fell hitting or spanking a child is done by some because they haven't learned to get their way in any other manner. I know you won't like this but maybe I have a more inlighten brain. For you to berate me because I taught my children without hitting or spanking is really sad. I am just saying maybe you believe in spanking because you don't see another way. This is for anyone. To spank just because you were spanked doesn't mean it is just. By the way I never said anyone was a bad parent. I know plenty of folks that spank their children and I don't hold it against them so let's not hold it against me because I used other means.
We have an issue with you implying that those who spank their children are wrong while you are right. We are all different and how we raise our children is also different. Seems kind of self righteous to think that you are the only one doing the right thing. You are not right and you are not wrong. What you are is somehwere in the middle, just as the rest of us. Spanking is not abuse, abuse is abuse. (I promise I did not copy this from you Fist. I had it typed out before you posted). I will not negotiate with a 3 year old to get them to do what I want them to. I will not bribe them nor will I succumb to their wishes in order to make them happy. That only sets them up to feel like they are going to get what they want if they make enough noise or be bad enough. My job is to prepare my child for the real world and if you are not preparing your child for the same then you are failing your child. Dolomite

You might be able to run a standard gas block if you are putting the port at the pistol location, which I think you are. You might be able to run both supers and subsonics without the need for an adjustable block. I would start by making sure supers will run then see if some subsonics will run. If you want I can give you some of my 240 grain cast to load. They use the same exact load data as a 220 grain SMK. If you want you can come out and we can hopefully find a subsonic load that works. I have about 5 different kinds of powder that work with mine. Everythign from super fast to super slow burning. The ATF needs to hurry up their responses to my questions. I am going to SBR a rifle and build a suppressor wither under a trust or under my name. I just need to see if a trust will work for what I want to do. Dolomite

There is a difference between spanking and abuse, a BIG difference. The idea of trying to reason with a young child is idiotic. Try reasoning with a two, three or four year old. Most don't have the language skills at that age to understand what you are even trying to say, much less understand your reasoning as an adult. They have ZERO attention span so by the time you finish one sentence they have forgetten the previous one. And because of that short attention span they need something just as short to deal with their negative actions. A quick swat on the butt, that likely won't even hurt but will startle them, along with a stern voice is what it takes to break their attention span. Some kids only need a spanking or two to correlate the tone of your voice to something bad. Heck some kids only need a quick "bark" at them to startle them into correction. Then after that all the child needs is the same tone of voice to stop them from doing what they are doing. Children need to be disciplined, some more than others. If you don't then you are making sure your child will likely fail miserably in life. It is our job as parents to ensure our children are ready for the brutal world we live in. And that takes discipline as well as letting your child fail as often as needed to motivate them. If you try to make it seem like life is all flowers and rainbows then they are more than likely going to be a failure. I get sick of hearing "there are no losers and we are all winners" because the reality is there are losers and there are winners. If you raise a child to believe he is always a winner he will be a failure some day and when that day happens reality will crush him or her. There is nothing wrong with spanking as long as it is applied with love. It is when the parents do not care for the child or become so upset that they loose the love for their child that it will become abuse. Dolomite

I really wish this would be on the national news when I wake up in the morning. I also wish Jim Turner finds himself being passed around in the FPMITAP for a while. Maybe if he is butthurt for real then he won't break the law. Dolomite

300 Blackout as a "End of Times" caliber
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Survival and Preparedness
A bit off topic but i can't seem to get a clear understanding of this. If I were to start reloading, could I reload for .300BLK and 7.62x39 using the same bullets? If I could then I could have two platforms, 3 calibers sharing several components, and the ultimate in all round versatility.
Yes, I have shot a lot of .311" jacketed bullets down a .308" bore without issues as long as you work up accordingly. And a .308" bullet can be fired out of .311" bore without issue other than accuracy issues. That is the reason why most AK's over here shoot like crap anyways. The commercial ammo generally uses .308" bullets. I have measured a lot of them and I have yet to find one that uses the correct .311" bullet. Dolomite -
I searched Bing for a photo-shopped picture I saw a while back of a Gansta Glock with the sights on the side of the slide, I couldn't find it but it was funny as hell. 300 Blackout as a "End of Times" caliber
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I would make sure to do a pistol length gas system. Then use a "cheap" adjustable gas block to meter your "favorite" load so it cycles. I also believe this caliber is much more versatile than the 223. My gun will cycle with subs and supers. And with subs, when I get a can, it will be as quiet as my 22lr AR with a can. Dolomite -
Realistically those that are going to loot are not going to travel outside of their own neighborhoods to do so. Looters can't loot unless they are on foot and they are not going to walk far. They are going to rob the liquor stores, cash advance places, pawn shops and the errant commuter in their own neighborhoods. As long as you let them do what they are going to do in their own neighborhood they will not venture out. I have zero worries about them coming to my house to loot. But in the event they do venture out, and into my neighborhood, they will no loot my belongings or my neighbor's. Dolomite

Good thing they weren't hunting a "master" otherwise this whole thread would have a totally different feel. Dolomite
While you're pushing weird things thru your gun, these might be fun to play with. They weigh 30 grains more than a piece of 00, but are still downright cute...
Well I have this crazy idea that you should have a weapon that will chamber what ever your local military/guard uses.. Makes it easy if you should have to break into the local armory and liberate some ammo...
And you think I don't have one or two of those? Dolomite -
This is the exact one you have, right? http://www.coltsmfg....ltLE90116S.aspx It says .308, but you can you still shoot 7.62 out of it? Just making sure. I'm considering one of these next!
If a gun will handle 308 it will definitely handle 7.62x51. 308 has much higher pressures than 7.62x51. Think of it as 223/5.56 in reverse. Dolomite

For when I need a oil based lube I use 50/50 ATF and synthetic oil. If I want cleaning properties I will add 10% fuel injector cleaner to the mix. For grease I use molybendum disulfide. Grease is what I use on rails and lugs. Dirt and debris will settle on top and not get worked in like with oil. Another advantage is the grease does not move. Dolomite
Dolomite, would you care to expound more on the 50gr balls at low velocities for squirrel? Can you get that low of a charge to burn reliably and consistently? And not destroy meat?
I need to do a little more testing. But you take a 00 buck and push it through a sizer to bring it down to size then load it using a pistol powder. Dolomite -
Might wanna qualify that, G. In a bolt gun. An AR limits the range of bullets.
An AR can shoot and cycle 100g-250g bullets. Or at least mine can. The only issue is with some flat point bullets. Even if you don't cast you can still load 300 for about .13 each if you watch for sales on pulled bullets. I have zero intention of hunting anyone to get 5.56. I am in a pretty remote area so as long as I can take game I will be fine. And I have enough land to support my and my group. Dolomite -
Shot ammo will NOT cycle semi auto's, regardless of caliber. If you must have multiple shots you need to use a revolver. Dolomite

If you ever have a problem, which you never will, they will make it right. I have yet to hear of one of their guns having issues. Is is a gun built by them or a lower that was built on? Makes a huge difference IMHO. Dolomite
I am all about it once the supplies get going. It is still a bit harder to find than 223 and a little more expensive to make. It seems to be a better round than 223, period, for the intended purpose and for medium game hunting. I would rather save lead than powder for now ... the more lead and copper in each one the more it costs, and bullets are the most expensive part of the round. Its on my go get one list, but not in a hurry. If O gets in, maybe I will snag one sooner than I can really afford, if not, in a year or 2.
It costs me .06 each per loaded round, .03 for the primer and .03 in powder. That is cheaper than most 22's. You can't even buy the heads for a 223 for that. Dolomite -
Can you re-qualify this? Any 30 caliber?
Yes, any bullet .308"-.311" can be used to load the 300 Blackout. Dolomite
