1.
I'm going to hazard a guess and say that it's probably not a good choice for a regular load but might hold up to occasional Ruger loads. All in all I don't think I would personaly risk it. Wish Ruger would build an overbuilt lever gun though, that would be cool.
What caliber you thinking would need an overbuilt levergun in? They make them in 500 S&W as well as a slew of rifle calibers. I can't imagine a gun capable of 45-70 not being capable of handgun loads. Dolomite
2.
The $1500 Mac is ridiculas, what are the FAs going for $3000-$3500?
Yeah, about that for a decent used one with accessories or one that is NIB. Dolomite
3. And if you need any help or have questions feel free to ask. I can PM my number if you need it. Dolomite
4. They are actually pretty easy to do. The receiver started life as a REAL AK receiver so all the cut outs and holes are there. You just need to remove all the covers to expose them. I have done several now and it takes me about an hour to do, maybe a little over. And personally if I was in the market for an AK I would start with a Saiga. They are current production guns made in Russia. They are probably the best deal out there in the AK world. Dolomite
5. And one response she got was funny to me. My wife is selling a bumper pull, straight load so she can buy a gooseneck slant load. She got an offer to trade a bumper pull, straight load for her bumper pull, straight load. The other person's was in far worse condition. I know they were seeing if we were going to bite but it was still pretty funny. I think some people who are on CL have lost touch with reality. A guy had a MAC11 pistol for sale on there. I called and he was asking $1,750. I asked if it was by cahnce a FA with paperwork. He said no it was semi auto. I asked why so much and he said because it said Cobray on it. I told him it was a $300-$500 gun and he said he would come down to $1,500. Dolomite
6.
The fact that they might actually attempt this scares me a little but what really scares me is that the fact that the majority of gun owners would just roll over in take it.
And will demand every gun owner do the same or turn in those who don't roll over. Dolomite
7. He is also blaming "cheap" handguns. So I expect it to be more than just a AWB but a sweeping ban that includes all kinds of guns. Here he blames cheap guns: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50133288n At approximately 2:10. Dolomite
8.
The next day go to the pound and get a dog that needs a home. You will never have to wonder if there is an intruder in your home again. Plus you will have a great friend.
That is the single most important part of my plan and I have signs posted everywhere about having a dog. A barking dog will make most would be burglars go to the next house. They do not want to be bit any more than you or I do. Dolomite
9.
In related news, tin foil is flying off the shelves.
I bet everyone in the US said the same thing in 1994 right before the AWB then. And that AWB took away gun rights. Or what about California where the laws are strict and they are likely going to be the example they use because it is Feinstein who is pushing for the nationwide ban. Not long after the DC shooting there was a bill introduced that sought to outlaw "sniper rifles". That law stated that any make of gun capable of shooting a group under 3" at 100 yards would be outlawed as it was considered a sniper rifle. Also, there have been quite a few bills introduced seeking to tax ammunition to a point that no one could afford it. In parts of Illinois, where Obama hails from, there is a .05 per bullet tax. All it takes is one time for a bill to pass and it is done. How often do we hear of a bill or law being repealed? Never. All they need to do is fight for a bill or law to be passed once yet we have to fight every single time. Eventually they will sneak one by and that will be the end just like th 1986 ban on the sale of new MG's to civillians. By all accounts it did not pass the voice vote but Charlie Rangel, yes the same one investigated for ethics violations, declared it passed because he was the speaker of the house at the time. I am not wearing tinfoil to think the Democrats are going to use any tool or excuse they can to outlaw our guns. Be it through UN resolution, passing laws, regulations or executive order I can see him trying something big before he leaves office that will affect gun ownership. To think anything different is a bit naive. Gun owners are under attack, or at a minimum not being supported, by all those who voted for Obama. And that is very close to being the majority of the nation now. I do not believe we will loose our guns because of a UN resolution we, as a nation, sign but signing it will be the impetus for our governemnt to pass laws to fall in line with what is in the UN resolution. The "blue helmets" are not going to come here to take our guns. Dolomite
10. If someone is in my house in the middle of the night after breaking in I will err on the side of caution and remove that threat. By the time I come into the equation the bad guy will have to have removed my dogs and that shows the intentions of the bad guy are to injure or kill me as well. If an intruder makes it into your home far enough in and starts shooting you, your wife will have ZERO time to react and will be killed right next to you. I mean if the bad guy catches you in the bed he will also catch your wife in bed and shoot her too. You, as well as your wife, will not have the time to react or return fire if the bad guy wakes you with gunshots. Do a test, have your wife sit in bed as if reading a book with her gun in its normal "hidden" spot. Then tell her that when she sees you walk in the room to find her gun, touch her gun then point her finger at you and go bang. I would be willing to bet your wife would not be able to do this in under 5 seconds. And that is with her wide awake and waiting for it. And when she is asleep I am sure she will not be able to find, draw her weapon and accurately fire in under 10 seconds. And a bad guy isn't going to wait. The reason I say this is not to show that you or your wife are not proficient or capable, just to show that it is possible to be outgunned from the word go no matter how well prepared you might be. You may have great intentions of getting a head shot but in reality if you are shooting to save your life the odds of getting a first round head shot is very remote. It gets easier the closer you get to the bad guy but I want to be as far away from the threat as possible. Staying small is important but making a hit to the smallest part of the human body that will stop the fight is going to be difficult in the dark, under stress and while the bad guy is moving. I would rather take my chance on several body shots that actually connect than rely on a single shot to the head. A shot to the pelvic girdle is very effective at stopping a person. Think about it. If you hit someone in the pelvic girdle they are not going to be able to move on you. And it is a much larger target than the head. There is also the femoral artery in the region and although it being severed may not end the fight immediately a severed femoral artery will ensure there is only one story to tell. You do realize that by planting items that are there to intentionally hurt someone you can be charged criminally as well as sued in civil court. This has been played out dozens of times in court and in nearly every single case the person who was injured won even if they were breaking the law at the time. A person who is walking outside your home is, at worst, only trespassing. Until they make entry into your home they have not commited any other crimes. Alarms are great at making bad guys leave the area. Be it a dog barking or some other loud alarm a bad guy will try to avoid a home with them. As far as being afraid of a bad guy getting your second gun I don't think it will happen providing the gun is out of sight. It is possible to have a gun easily accessible and still remain out of sight. Something I have done for a very long time is place something, like a rag or shirt, over a gun as it sits on something. No one has noticed it as a gun so far. The same can be done with a washcloth or towel in the bathroom or a folded tshirt on top of the dresser in the bedroom. A bad guy will not be concerned with a rag or tshirt in plain view but he will be rifling through drawers where he will find a gun if it is in there. Dolomite
11. I wonder if they are going to wear the blue helmets? They are really easy to see from a distance. What ever organization is tasked with the actual search and seizure will likely sustain substantial losses. But the majority of gun owners will turn their guns in without question and of those who do the majority will do it without receiving any money because of the fear of jail time. The biggest threat to those who decide to keep their guns is not going to be those who are coming to grab them. It will be the fellow gun owner who already turned in his guns. But before all this happens they are going to make shooting guns so expensive or bothersome that most will see guns as a useless tool. This will soften the resolve of a lot of gun owners. We have already seen it with the new regulations regarding surplus powders, bullets and cases that are no longer being sold to the public. Add the additional costs for dealers that must be passed on to the consumer makes it more expensive to reload. We have already seen a doubling of ammo prices in 5 years. Imagine what is going to happen in the next 5. A ban on lead ammo is going to be tried and might actually win this time around following California's recent success with this. And this will make ammunition too expensive for the comapnies to produce for civillian sales so companies will just stop making ammunition intended for civillians. Those companies will still supply ammo to the government to sustain themselves though. Maybe this is why the recent ban on selling components to civillians, to soften up the manufacturers and to force companies to abide by the the government's wishes if they want to remain in business. Dolomite
12.
But yes, anyone can sue anyone for anything. Dave S
And even if they do not win it still costs a lot to defend against ANY suit. Even if you knew it was likely to be thrown out at the first hearing you would be stupid to not seek counsel. And that counsel costs money. Dolomite
13. Join silencerresearch and do your research. It is a small price to pay to ensure you get a good can. He has made a living out of testing cans, all kinds of cans, on the same playing field. With that being said I do not believe you can go wrong with the SilencerCo or the Liberty. Dolomite
14. He has the makings of a good primer fort. I wish I could make a fort of any kind. Dolomite
15. Is it theft if you take something that was left on your property? If not then I say sell the tree stand that was "abandoned" on your property. Then sell it on Craigslist and make some Christmas money. Dolomite
16. So they have your parts AND your money? If so then I would contact your district attorney. You need to be provided with one or the other or it is fraud. Dolomite
17. Look at the Nordic tube. they are just as good and about 1/3 the cost. I realy like mine. You can get a rail to go on top as well or on the bottom for that matter. There is also PLENY of clearance for whatever you want to put on your barrel. Dolomite
18. I normally cut a square hole to clean up the area to be repaired. Then I take a piece of wood that is small enough to fit through the hole but long enough to go past the edges. Then I screw through the existing sheetrock and into the wood to secure it in place. This gives you a support to screw the new patch of sheetrock to. I then cut the new sheetrock patch to fit the hole. Place it agtainst the piece of wood then put a screw or two through the new sheetrock patch and into the wood. This gives a very stury fix and makes filling the gaps easier. There is also less down time as well as less of a chance of the putty cracking as it dries. Dolomite
19.
I don’t think so. We would be worse off. He protected himself by appointing the Village Idiot as next in Command if something happened to him.
+1 I could not imagine Biden as president but in 2017 we will see how he does. Dolomite
20.
Bud's gun shop. Look in the "police supply" section
Have you used the discount as a former militarty member? The reason I ask is I think I contacted them and asked if they provide discounts to former military and was told no. This has been a few years back though. Dolomite
21.
And I buy my guns and ammo from businesses that exist to support the firearms community and which are generally, albeit not always, owned and staffed by firearm enthusiasts like myself because I care a more that those business continue to exist a lot more than I care if WalMart exists.
And how much more are you willing to spend to support those businesses? 20%, 33% or even a 50% mark up? And this is during normal times, not the "scary" times. I have meet more unscrupulous dealers than I have met unscrupulous Walmart employees or managers. When we had our scare 4 years, ago and with another probably coming, Walmart was about the only place I could find ammo that wasn't being gouged. The guns they sell are the same quality as any other dealer gets. They order their guns through a distributor and there is no such thing as Walmart specific guns (another lie by dealers). The distributor fills their order just like your favorite storefront. I watched dealers with storefronts come in and buy every bit of .22 ammo at Walmart for $15 a brick. And as the customers were getting upset the dealers would tell the customers to come to XXXXXXX gunshop to buy this ammo for $30 a brick. I seen it several times by the same dealer. That is why Walmart started their six box maximum purchase, to protect the customers from the dealers who were gouging us. What other company would do that? We all forget all too soon how some of these dealers feed us fear monger stories to convince we need to buy ammo at 3x the cost. These are the same dealers who mark guns way up then try to fear customers into buying them. I remember and they are the ones who will never see a red dime of mine. I am all for capitalism but I say if they want to mark things up beyond what the market will bear don't gripe and complain about how no one wants to buy from you. And don't try to feed me the BS line that you only make a dollar on every single sale. I support my local dealers as well but I will not pay a premium to be able to say I have. If they have something for sale for what I feel is fair I will buy it. And what may be fair to me may not be to someone else. What is fair is a personal choice but as I said I will not pay a premium to say I have. I bet this infuriates those honest dealers trying to making a living and do right by their cusomers. We have great ones on here as sponsors and they have great prices. We also have great dealers that have store fronts just not all of them. Bill's Outpost in the Knoxville area is a great place to deal with. Gunny's in Maryville, not so much anymore. Predator Custom shop is another honest dealer. There are going to be good ones and bad ones but I rarely forget those who burned me once. Dolomite
22. The Moose Lodge isn't bad at all. You shoot from a building that keeps the wind off of you when it is cold. They also have a pool for members as well as a "bar". Although I have never been they also have a weekly dinner for all the members. I joined the Moose Lodge a few months ago and really like it. It is never crowded. Norris isn't crowded most times but there have been times where people have waited an hour or two to shoot at Norris. Dolomite
23.
Interesting. I never quite looked into the S&W's when purchasing an AR. Obviously the S&W has a few things that more expensive rifles do not, but how would you compare them to a Colt 6920, a rifle that I thought was considered the gold standard for $1000 range AR's.
Colt is no longer, and hasn't been for a decade or more, the "gold standard". There are plenty of other guns that are better for the same price or comparable for less. Dolomite
24.
I acutally had a guy tell me he just flushes the "dip" down the toilet when he's done with it. I was like WTH man! But it is Oak Ridge so it probably can't get any worse. Having said this, I still plan to use the "dip" once I get my sparrow but only every few thousand rounds or so and I will definitely make sure I am wearing the proper attire and using the proper materials for storage. I have a friend in the health care business that deals with hazardous waste and can hook me up with protective clothing and storage containers. But as to what to use on aluminum tubes I can't offer any advice to the original question.
Why? The Sparrow is the easiest suppressor to take apart. It would be more difficult to use the dip than to just media blast the monocore clean. Dolomite
25. Once you have completed your sentence you should no longer have it affect your rights. The only exception to this is if the felony was violent in nature. There are so many laws now that are felonies that should not be. I say reserve the harshest of penalties for those who have a record of being violent, not those who were caught smoking a bit of pot.
