1. It is the fact it is a VIOLENT crime more so than felony vs misdemeanor. And as I said before those that use violence to win an argument should NEVER be allowed to own a gun or use a gun for anything be it hunting or defending themselves. So if DV was a felony there would not be an issue? I guess that needs to be the next big push. Making DV a celony with mandatory minimums. That way people will think twice before beating their spouse or significant other. Personally I would like to see the first offense be a six month mandatory sentence if thy plead or are found guilty. Second offense a felony and loss of all rights as well as a 1 year minimum and a $25,000 fine to be paid to the victim to cover counseling. Dolomite
2. It all depends on the shotgun, some work and some don't. I know the Mossberg 500 I had would hiccup on them. I would just grab some low brass target loads and use them. No need for slugs or 00 buck at the distances inside a home. Birdshot is very devastating inside of 15 yards. Another advantage is overpenetration is not going to be an issue. A slug will go through the bad guy, a few walls of your home, exit and cross the street or field then go through a few more walls and likely go through another body before stopping. I generally use a mix of low recoil (yeah right) 00 buck and #4 steel shot. I recently added some slugs just to change things up a bit. Dolomite
3.
We would gain all or industry shutting down, our banking system gone, our external food supply greatly reduced if not shut off altogether. We would not have control of TVA and would probably be without power. In short, we would be cut off from all the life sustaining supplies we need and we would either die or be forced to stop the non-sense. We live in an age on TV; not reality. Most of those suggesting this picture themselves running through the country side carry a gun and being a hero (that’s how it works on TV). Reality is most of us couldn’t run across the street let alone the country side, and most don’t have the skills to stay alive or out of the way of a bullet for more than a couple of days.
I wonder if any of these people wanting to secede realize this? ******************************************************************** As I said earlier people will starve, people will be killed and we will be a third world ####hole inside of probably a week. If not a week then definitely a month. No electricty, no gas, no medicine, no food or any other things needed to just survive. And in 3 months people will be killing each other for a twinkie to feed their child. People who were civilized will become animals in order to survive. They will prey upon the weak. Watch the move "The Road" to get an idea of what we will become inside of a few months. People have this dillusion that they will go to bed, the state will secede, and then they wake up go on with their lives just much better off. In reality they will go to bed and get woken up by the frigid air because there is no electricty to heat their home. They try to take a shower but there is no water or if there is it will be cold because of no electricty. Then they head off to work but stop to get gas and a coffee then realize they can't because there is no electricty. Then when they finally get to work they realize there is no more work because they have too have no electricity. Just having our electricty turned off would turn us into Afghanistan over night. Now is the time to really get pissed and then use that to motivate you to get involved. I mean do not just go vote but make phone calls, volunteer and do whatever it takes to win this next set of elections. Because we ARE going to loose control of the entire federal government if we do not. If we sit by and do nothing we all will be paying the price. They have already proven they are motivated to winand we need to be just as motivated if we expect to keep things as they are. Dolomite
4. Someone, anyone, explain to me how removing ourselves from the United States of America will make us better. I know this is symbolic but realistically if we were allowed to secede what would we gain? Dolomite
5. Not going to be a problem. Put any barrel you want on any lower. You can use a 5.56 marked lower to build a 9mm or any other combination. Dolomite

7. Yes, but in all my years in LE I have yet to see one person be forced to plead guilty. The judge asks the defendent if he agrees to the plea and when the person says "yes" they become convicted of domestic abuse. If you don't want to plea then go to trial, that way you can explain your side of the story and let the jury make the decision. Heck, in a lot of cases they will let the abuser plea down to a lesser charge if it is their first time. A bruise is all it takes IMHO. If you are manhandling a women enough to leave a bruise then you are a POS and should loose everything. Not just your gun rights. And most of those who are abusers tned to be whiny asses and will cry anytime they think they are being abused. If you lay hands on a women during an argument in order to comtrol her or win the argument you are a POS. Dolomite
8.
You obviously know nothing about the domestic violence laws!
Please explain then. Dolomite
9. Primary Arms also makes a well accepted red dot. They are reasonable and have a rock solid warranty. I had a friend who used a Truglo overseas and it worked fine even after being used and abused. If you get ANY Bushnell get the model number 73-0131. I have checked a lot of red dots and it is about the only Bushnell that will not get washed out in bright light. They are also reasonably priced at under $100. We have had one for about 6 years now and it has been flawless the entire time. Dolomite
10. I am all for those who have paid their dues to regain their gun right providing the crime was not violent in nature. Domestic violence is violent by nature. So there is no way anyone who has plead guilty to or been convicted of domestic violence should have a gun in their possession. Also, any man who is violent towards a women is a slimy POS and should face far worse penalties than just loosing their gun rights. They are an animal and should be treated as such. They should have to pay the women for what will become a lifetime of hurt the women will have to endure after a violent attack. I can't wrap my mind around why you are posting this. Dolomite
11. Look into how much is actually used for the wounded. You will be even more disgusted. We would spend money on it then we found out the amount for the "administration". They started with good intentions but now it is a greed based organization. Executive directors at the WWP are making $200K+ annually. By contrast the DAV and the VFW directors take no money for what they do. Dolomite
12. Republicans and conservatives tend to be law abiding while liberals do not have a problem cheating. We have seen it time and time again. Yes both sides cheat but the ratio is not 1 to 1. Dolomite
13. To add a little more. If your target is within about 10 yards you will not need hearing protection. The supersonic crack becomes very loud at about that mark. I have shot into the ground at my feet with supersonic ammo when using a suppressor and all you hear is the action noise. If I shoot at a 100 yard target then those shots are substantially louder. Something else to expect is your gun will get dirtier quicker with a suppressor. A suppressor adds backpressure and all that extra pressure, along with the crud, dumps into your receiver. That is unless you get your gas system set up perfectly then you shouldn't have a problem. As far as cycling goes if your gun will run fine without one then it will run fine with a suppressor, just dirtier. Dolomite
14. I believe what is fair for one is fair for the other. If a student cannot pass, regardless as to the reason why, they should not be allowed to pass. We should not grade on a curve for any reason and expecially based upon race. No Child Left Behind is what has dumbed down America. The teachers want to do well and make sure our children are successful. Unfortunately the administrations are requiring teachers to pass students who shouldn't. And if the teacher decides to do what needs to be done and fails a student the teacher can be punished. A failure of a student is often viewed as though the teacher failed when it was the teacher who is trying the hardest to make sure the children are properly educated. The best thing for the education system is to remove the control the Department of Education has over our schools. All too often the school districts are more worried about the test scores for federal funding. I know my son would have "TECAP Week" every year. That is where the teachers would spend a week going through the test to make sure the students knew the answers when it came time for them to take the state test with state observers. That way the school didn't look bad and would not loose funding. How is it possible to get a fair and unbiased review of how your kid is doing in school when the teachers are being forced to give them the answers? Again, it is not the teachers fault because the majority of them want what is best for the children. It is the administrators. Dolomite
15.
I also have a box of the original black talons and was told by a LEO that they are illegal to carry. He is a retired police chief from Knoxville TN.
And he is clueless. Dolomite
16. http://www.wbur.org/...education-goals Lets take those who are having the hardest time and "op out" of helping them. This is nothing more than a way for the government to have another generation of those who are slaves to the welfare system.
As part of Virginia's waiver to opt out of mandates set out in the No Child Left Behind law, the state has created a controversial new set of education goals that are higher for white and Asian kids than for blacks, Latinos and students with disabilities. Virginia Democratic state Sen. Donald McEachin first read about the state's new performance goals for schoolchildren in a newspaper editorial. "And I was shocked to find that the state board of education [was] putting in place permanent disparities between different subgroups — Asians at the top, African-Americans at the bottom," says McEachin. Here's what the Virginia state board of education actually did. It looked at students' test scores in reading and math and then proposed new passing rates. In math it set an acceptable passing rate at 82 percent for Asian students, 68 percent for whites, 52 percent for Latinos, 45 percent for blacks and 33 percent for kids with disabilities......................................
Click on the link to see the rest of the article. 17. As much as I hate what the country is becoming we are far from being a third world ####hole. And if we did secede the state would become a third world ####hole in a matter of days. The federal government would not invade us or try to beat us into submission. They would lock our border down and not allow anything in or out. Then they would just starve us into submission and then we would be begging to go back to the way it was before. And guess what, we will be way worse off that what we are now. We cannot support our own population without the help of the other states and if we secede the feds will not allow interstate commerce with us any more. And if you think you will be going to work as usual it will be kind of hard to do that without any gas because it will no longer be imported. Your job won't matter anyway because companies here will go out of business when they cannot sell their items out of state or get supplies in from out of state. We would ALL loose our jobs because no other state still under federal control would be allowed to do business with us. Look at all the food that is imported into the state from other states as well as other countries. Those food items will be gone in days and all food normally imported will stop at the border. So all of you wanting to secede are willing to risk your own family starving? Then there is the medicine that will stop at the border. How many here are diabetic or have loved ones that are? They will be dead in months if they stocked up. But realistically they would probably starve before then because if they are not stockpiling medicine they do not have food stockpiled. This goes right along with those who are planning to bug out to the hills. They, and those wanting to secede, have not thought out the long term ramifications of it. I do not want to secede for a few reasons. First is everything I mentioned above. But also if we secede we no longer have a voice and we will have zero chance of effecting change in the federal government. If you want things to change write letters, make calls and send emails to your representative. How many here did that before the election or any time they disagree with something their representative does? I know I have wrote trying to influence their decisions. It is not too late. We will have the most important elections in the next few years. If we loose the majority in congress, which we probably will unless something is done, the democrats will forever change this nation. I said it before and I will say it again. Be careful what you wish for, you might actually get it. If you are truly patriotic to this country you should not be wanting to leave it but fight for it. 19. Another rare round from the 80's was teh BAT round. It was a solid copper alloy with a plastic tip to help feeding. Funny thin was it has a hole from the back to the front of the bullet. This was so the platic tip would be shot off the end of the bullet as it was fired. It was also labeled a "cop killer" bullet back in the 80's. Here are plenty of examples of pictures of the BAT round: http://www.google.co...BN_S80QHSmoD4DQ ETA: Here is an auction, with packaging pictures of the BAT round: http://www.gunauction.com/search/displayitem.cfm?itemnum=8543211 Dolomite
20. I can't remember hearing anything about the AWB before it passed. The 1986 MG ban was also passed unexpectedly. I think the next round will be the same. We will wake up one morning and our hobby will never be the same. As far as finding reloading supplies I had no problems as long as I was patient. I could never walk into a place and find primers, which were the hardest thing to find. But I would ALWAYS ask when they expect more in. Most times they didn't know but there were a few shops that knew when they were receing them. And I made sure to show up to buy what I needed, not everything. I had one place set back about 5x what I needed. I grabbed what I needed and put the rest on the shelf for them. After I paid for what I had I turned around and the shelf was bare. Powder was always available as was bullets. 22's were a little hard to buy. Not hard to find but hard to get without being marked up. I watched some dealers with storefronts come in and buy every bit of .22 ammo at Walmart for $15 a brick. And as the customers were getting upset the dealers would tell the customers to come to XXXXXXX gunshop to buy this ammo for $30 a brick. I seen it several times by the same dealer. We all forget all too soon how some of these dealers feed us fear monger stories to convince we need to buy ammo at 3x the cost. These are the same dealers who mark guns way up then try to fear customers into buying them. I remember and they are the ones who will never see a red dime of mine. Dolomite
21. I use mine every time I reload. It is something I thought I didn't need in the begning and now realize I can't live without it. Dolomite
22. Also, look at what we send to Washington vs what we receive in tax money. They could use us seceding as a cost cutting measure for the federal government. We do not generate more than we receive and we Dolomite
23. If we did we could find ourselves in much worse state of affairs than we are now. If we seceded I can guarantee there would be no interstate commerce coming in or going out because we are no longer a state. Also, those states who don't secede will likely be pressured into boycotting anything related to Tennessee. Yes we can keep our taxes collected but the money does no good if we can't buy anything with it. The federal government would blockade the state and everything we would get would come in as part of the blackmarket, increasing costs to way more than what we pay now. We better be careful what we ask for because we might get it. As glamorous as it sounds to secede from the union hundreds of thousands, if not millions, would be far worse off. We would starve and turn into a third world country in a matter of days. Dolomite
24. Didn't read it as you wanted a Ruger lever gun just a lever gun built as strong as a Ruger. Dolomite
25. You have found yourself the gun that will lead to a lifelong passion for AR's. It is a great gun whether you are new to AR's or an old warhorse. Its value is far beyond what it costs. And even though it technically is NOT milspec it will perform just as well as most guns that are milspec. Milspec is actually not a high standard, is is a low standard. Kind of like making a "D" on a report card, it is good enough to pass. And those who make "milspec" guns are going to do what is required to pass and nothing more. Also, just because something isn't milspec doesn't mean it is junk, just means it doesn't meet the criteria for the military's standard for that item. Magpul magazines are NOT milspec or at least not yet and are great. Noveske barrels are NOT milspec and are great. Monolithic uppers are NOT milspec. The majority of muzzle brakes and flash hiders out there are NOT milspec. The majority of the furniture for AR's is NOT milspec. The majority of BUIS's are NOT milspec. Melonite treatment is leaps and bounds above chrome lining for both durability and corrosion resistance but it is NOT milspec, at least not yet. Not conforming to the milspec standard because of a design that is different is not necessarily a bad thing, claiming to meet it when it cannot not meeting it because of quality issues is. And the list goes on and on. But as I said milspec is the minimum standard for the military but it doesn't mean something is junk because it isn't milspec. It just means is is not part of the TDP. And every single item in the military must meet certains standards set forth in the standard, be it a number 2 pencil or a nuclear submarine. And any maker out there can say it is milspec even though it isn't. As long as the military isn't the buyer they have done nothing wrong legally. And I honestly believe there are makers who intentionally mislead people by using the milspec term like "turbo" was the catch phraze of the 90's. There are a few makers out there who are very poor quality yet use the "milspec" standard to describe their products. Also what is funny is the mispec standard for government rifles is not public knowledge, only those who actually HAVE a government contract to produce them have the milspec "technical data package" in writing. And any maker who is going to use the TDP must sign a non disclosure agreement before receiving it. All other makers making guns to "milspec" are just guessing. And there are very few who have the M16/M4 TDP, Colt, FN and now Remington. Even our beloved Sport is NOT milspec but by all accounts performs just as well. The upper receiver is not, the lower receiver is not, the barrel is not, the sights are not and the supplied magazine is not. Does that mean it is junk? I is the total opposite of junk. It is the best AR out there for the money, period. I will even go as far as say it is the best AR out there for under $1,000. It is a great gun because all the parts are of very high quality even though they do NOT meet milspec as spedified in the TDP. And you also get a top notch warranty from a gun maker that has been around well over a century. And for those of you who think Colt IS the gold standard, think again. Not all Colt's are MILSPEC and as a matter of fact most are not in the civillian marketplace. There are thousands of commercial Colt AR's out ther that DO NOT meet milspec standards. Every single large pin Colt AR is not milspec. And I do believe milspec for the FCG pins is .155" but a lot of rifles that Colt made commercially have .170" pins to prevent installation of FA parts. Check a COLT AR FCG pins and if they are .170" then it isn't milspec. And along with Colt's choice to use .170" FCG pins came a huge reduction in the selection of aftermarket triggers and hammers available for those NON milspec guns. The Colt "C" bolt carriers that were used to prevent FA use are also NOT milspec. Those are the ones that if you look at them from the rear that look like a sideways "C". And those bolt carriers came in a lot of AR's. The biggest reason is for legal reasons because we cannot legally own a 14.5" barrel without proper paperwork. Dolomite
