Please, oh please, tell me you didn't just load a max charge to start with? That is a recipe for disaster. You never start out at max. I start out 1/2 way between max and minimum then work up until I find an accurate load. I have never found a accurate load that uses the max charge weight. Dolomite

\ The stuff I ate tasted like crap. Much worse that even the worse MRE I had while overseas. The Wise stuff is way, way oversalted is more of a mushy goo than anything else. I will take my seasoned rice, beans and wild game over it any day of the week. Dolomite

My wife likes and shoots firearms almost as much as I do. She likes guns and has her own carry gun as well as comandeering a lot of guns that were mine. She pushed me to get a suppressor and has been pushing me to get a machine gun. Anytime I say I am going to buy something firearm related she only asks what it is and never complains about my shooting habits because she is part of it. As a matter of fact she now like 300 Blackout almost as much as I do so I have to build her one soon. For me to get my wife shooting I just have to say "I bet I can shoot this better than you" and it is game on. And she does shoot better than me most days. I honestly can say I am not sure I would like it if my wife wasn't involved. It lets us spend time together we normally wouldn't have together. Dolomite

Do you allow your kids to arm themselves when home alone?
Dolomite_supafly replied to Links2k's topic in General Chat
My son, who is in the AIr Force now, started shooting at probably 5. We let him shoot whenever he wanted and starting at age 7 there were always guns around the house. Or at least he seen them every day. This took the novelty of the firearms away and to him they were no different than any other tool you might use or find laying around the house. I think that is the key to a child being safe with a gun. If they see them as nothing special then they will show no more interest in them than anything else when you are not around. And starting about age 15 there where times when my wife and I had to leave the house for a day or two. During those times our son knew where the guns were and definitely knew how to use them. He never messed with them. And by age 17 he had a firearm "loaned" to him any time we had to leave the house for a day or two. Our son has always be extremely mature and responsible so I had zero concerns with him being home alone. Especially with my crackhead brother running around trying to kill people. In the end I think it is up to you to decide if your children should have access to the firearms for self defense. We have seen on a number of occassions where children have used firearms to defend themselves. I don't think there is a jury in the world who would convict the parent of a child who used a firearm to defend themselves. He is not much of a gun person anymore and I think that is because I took the novelty of them away at such an early age. Dolomite -
Firearms confiscation. How would it go down?

Hardly a lair but it is a place that is better than most as far as security goes. It also has plenty of acerage to live off of if need be. Dolomite -
Are reloading supplies getting scarce like ammo?
Dolomite_supafly replied to gregintenn's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I cast my own bullets and I have a steady supply of lead. I have enough primers to last me a very, very long time and my powder should last me nearly as long. Or at least long enough to make it through this round of panic. Dolomite -

I believe the corect term for the person drawing blood would be phlebotomist. Dolomite -
Cannot go wrong with extra magazines, either 10 or 33 rounders. Personally I would not mind having three 10 rounders over one 33 rounder. Dolomite

Probably not a good argument by saying ALL FIREARMS are assault weapons. Just saying. Dolomite

To make it more acceptable how about "Terrorist Eradication and Removal Device". That way we can tell the anti's all we want to do keep our TERD's. Tell them we like taking our TERDs places as well as cleaning and polishing our TERDs. And that there is nothing more fun that letting your friends hold your TERDs. Or that there is nothing better than showing your friends your collection of TERDs. They will probably think we are nuttier than them and they will call for us to be a protected class. Dolomite

I wasn't saying there would be "forces" coming to every door. I do not believe anyone would go door to door, block to block and searching residences. I was saying that one gun owner would turn on another and LE would secure a search warrant. And if a search warrant was issued, based on the word of another, for possession of a banned firearm LE would serve that warrant and make the arrest. It would be silly to think that LE would not execute a search warrant that was legally obtained. That is what I was talking about. And we, as in gun owners, do it to ourselves now. We hear some of the hunting crowd saying there is no need for AR's or AK's. As far as the Afghans go I have spoke to a lot of the Muj and in the begining they fought and were successful with very rudimentary weapons. Heck I was speaking to a gov't type that was over there in the begining and he said the Afghans were shooting each other with AK's because they had no clue how they operated. The Muj said one of their best tactics was to hang lanterns around the necks of sheep and goats in the middle of the night. And as the goats roamed it would appear to be a large force to the Soviets. And when the Soviets became distracted with those moving lights the Afghans would flank them. They said they used that tactic a lot in the begining and it was very successful. Yes we did back them but not before the invasion. For years they fought with no help. Dolomite

I wish I had stock in Alcoa. I might be able to retire. Speaking of tin foil I will tell a funny story. When I was in Alabama we used to get a call into the station by a young man. Now this young man had "issues" and would call in once a month wanting to know where his replacement radio was. He would go into a story about how radiation had ruined his radio and someone agreed to replace it for him. We would always tell him the same thing, it should be there next month, then he would thank us and get off the phone. Well one time when he called in one of the officers was talking to him and said if we shipped him a new radio the radiation would just mess it up as well. The young man became worried and asked how to prevent that. The officer said to use tin foil as a shield. Well a few hours later we got a call from this guy's mother and she was really upset. Apparently the guy went out and bought a bunch of tin foil. He wrapped his entire trailer in tin foil. I never got to see it but I always laugh when I think about it. Ok one more. Same station we would have "Crazy Mary" call in every so often. She went looney after loosing her husband. Her husband worked as an engineer on some government projects before his death. Then after his mysterious, according to her, death she went crazy. She swore the government had installed "poppers" in her body to track her movements and thoughts. She said she would use tin foil to hide herself from those who were monitoring her. I had talked to her on several occassions and she was the nicest old lady you could ever talk to even though the conversation was a bit weird. All of us at the station had felt like we knew her well and on those boring nights her call would give us a much needed escape from boredom. Well at one point someone invited her down to the station to meet all of us in person. It took a few days but then someone said there was a lady there to meet a few of us. As I walked in I knew exactly who it was. It had to be Mary because she had a ball of aluminum foil, the size of a very large afro you might see in the 70's, surrounding her head. She was dressed like any elderly women that is except the aluminum afro. We all sat around and spoke to her for a bit and then she left. I managed to keep a straight face until she left then almost pissed myself I laughed so hard. Not sure why but we never got another call from her and I always wondered what happened to crazy Mary. The problem if or when something like this comes down is gun owners are going to be our own worst enemy. The majority are going to do exactly what the government wants without a question for fear of loosing more than their guns. Then those that didn't do what the government wants are going to be turned in by those that already have out of spite. We have already seen it with some hunters stepping back from those of us who own semiautos. I have heard it from different hunters as well as a dealer or two that a bolt action is all a person needs. There are ~300 million guns in the US and if 1/10th of those owners refused they would still be 10x the size of all the military component, active and reserve, of the US. And another thought is this there is no way the government could house and provide for 30 million "criminals". And for those who think it is not possible look at the Afghans in the 80's. They used pitchforks, flintlocks and Lee enfield rifles to defeat one of the super powers. But the only way people are going to stand up is if they think they are going to win. Dolomite

"No-Refusal" checkpoints throughout Tennessee this holiday season
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in General Chat
Huh??? I am talking about driving drunk on a public road. If you are doing that then you should loose that priviledge. And that has nothing to do with rights as driving on a public road is a priviledge, not a right. Dolomite -
question, answer please...(gun shop buying from wal-mart)

I would hope most dealers would do a transfer onto their books to keep the guns "new" status but you never know. Dolomite -

A right cannot be taken away but a priviledge can. Driving on a public roadway is a priviledge. Dolomite -

They would probably think their are consequences for breaking the law. Don't want to be arrested and have your blood drawn then don't break the law. Driving on public roadways is not a right it is a priviledge. And that priviledge can be taken away. Dolomite -
DO NOT USE CFE223 DATA. Start 20% less than minimum for a given bullet. I will say that the same loads as yours were popping primers out of the case in my AR. I will say that chacing max velocity never results in max accuracy. As a matter of fact my most accurate load using a 69 SMK out of my 16" AR only chronogrpahs at 2,350 fps. The same load in a 26" barrel turns in 2,950 fps and turns in groups uner .3" CTC at 100 yards. SMP842 is an amazing powder but it is a lot faster than CFE223. You need to work up accordingly and watch for signs of pressure. Dolomite

LOL, not sure I would want them taking my blood considering the recent thread about how bad their aim is on the range. Dolomite -
You are not going to see or notice a difference in quality. With today's CNC and exacting tolerances the differences between these guns are just for cosmetic reasons. Both guns, RRA and Stag, are going to be built using forged parts of the same quality. I would not worry one bit about the trade, you are not getting hurt. Dolomite
