If there was a million gun owner march on anything the NRA would seperate themselves from it. Dolomite

The Centerpoint isn't going to be any better than the BSA. If that is your budget they work fine. I have a Centerpoint on a rifle and it works fine for what I use it for. Dolomite

Feinstein admits wanting to add AW to NFA registry
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
It will not be the ATF that starts or recommends this because they are under a enourmous work load as it is. It will be our reps that pressure the ATF to do this. But on the same token our representatives can use that same pressure to prevent it from happening. Call and tell your reps to remove more of the budget if they try to add any new weapons ot the NFA registry on a mass scale. They will likely waive the $200 fee during the registration portion. Heck, they might even make all transfers free but still needing to do the background. Think our 6 month wait times are rediculous? Imagine a 2+ year wait for approval before taking possession of that newly purchased AR or AK. Dolomite -
http://www.c-spanvideo.org/clip/4254274 I have been saying it since the Aurora shooting that this is what they are wanting to do. And realistically it would be an easy, easy thing for them to do. The ATF can arbitrarily write an opinion adding these weapons to the NFA registry. They have used opinion letters before to add items to the registry that were initially legal without being registered like the Atkins Accelerator stock, Street Sweeper shotguns as well as a bunch of other items. All of those were added and did not go through congress. All it took was a opinion letter by the ATF to make them a NFA item. This is how I suspect it will happen. What we need to do is write, email and call our representatives. We also need to call other representatives because those taking the calls will not verify who you are or what jurisdiction you live in. It is not against the law to call someone else's representative. We need to take a play out of our opponents playbook and do this. Dolomite

Everything is now an "assault" weapon and selling

Seems like now would be the time to tool up and start making magazines. Heck I would be interested in a few depending on what they are made of. Dolomite -
Chattanooga area member with AR tools?
Dolomite_supafly replied to Buzzard217's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
It is a simple and safe process if you have the right tools. Without the right tools it can be frustrating and you can actually damage the firearm. I have seen uppers crushed by not having the correct blocks to support the upper. But once you have the barrel nut loose putting it back together is a simple afair. Dolomite -
RCBS rock chucker for Christmas

For 223 and 30-06 Varget is a great powder for those starting out. It is very difficult to get enough in a 223 case to be dangerous. Not saying it is impossible but you really have to work hard at it. I am unsure if the same can be said for 30-06. For 9mm and 38/357 I have used HS-6, Clays and Longshot. Now I use Power Pistol for all of my pistol calibers. Dolomite -
There was a bill introduced after the DC "sniper" to ban sniper rifles. It was nothing more than an attempted ban on "assault" rifles but they used "sniper" because that is what was relavent. Now it is "assault" rifles but could be any name that garners support for their cause. Heck, I am surprized they are not out saying these weapons are used to kill defenseless little baby bunny rabbits or some other cute animal. ohbehave, if you think wood furniture is going to save you it won't. There are dozens of guns on the CA DOJ list that have wood stocks. And even the Mini-14 by Ruger has been villianized by various organizations. I have even read where they referred to 22 lr as a high powered round. Dolomite

Can't get shotgun barrel clean.

Now that is a great tip and I bet they are cheaper than shotgun patches as well as work better. Dolomite -
when your product comes in, pay by check using this format.Tell them we dont write checks the way everyone else does..
I listened to the phone call that generated the check. It was quite humorous to anyone with a very basic understanding of math. If I remember correctly the Verizon associate couldn't comprehend the difference between .1 and .01. In the end the customer just got frustrated and hung up. -
You are trying to argue something I never said. All I have said was IF, and that is a big IF, firearms were outlawed officers would have no problems enforcing that law like they would any other law. I was never arguing the likelihood of it happening just the way it will happen IF, again a big IF, they were outlawed. If guns are outlawed officers will have no moral opposition to it, heck they have moral oppositions to stuff they arrest people for today. Dolomite

Good, maybe they can see how it feels for the millions of Americans who wonder where their next meal is going to come from. Dolomite

Again, I am talking about if firearms are outlawed, not if they random come calling to take guns. If they outlaw firearms and a warrant is issued for having one it is a legal warrant. An officer will uphold the law even if his personal feelings tell him otherwise. They do it all the time. Don't belive me? Ask any officers you know if they believe marijuana should be illegal. The vast majority I have asked have said it shouldn't be. Yet those same officers continue to arrest people for possessing marijuana. I do not believe firearms would be any different. Dolomite

Even if you know with100% certainty the warrant or arrest is illegal you cannot legally use a firearm against a LE officer to resist or prevent the arrest. As a matter of fact you cannot legally resist any arrest, even an illegal or unlawful one. That has been proven time and time again in court cases. There are even cases where the officers are at the wrong address and the homeowner shoots them. In those cases the homeowner is almost always charged with a crime but if the officer returns fire and kills the homeowner the officer is rarely held responsible criminally. And in most cases the jurisdication pays the civil penalties and passes it onto the taxpayers. If you believe you were arrested illegally you will have to appeal to the courts, after the fact, for a redress. There is one state that passed a law that allows a citizens to resist unlawful detention but only one state in 50. It is not the officer that determines whether a warrant is valid. An officer submits his justification then a judge or commissioner determines whether there is enough evidence to support a warrant or not. And in a lot of cases the officer serving the warrant is not the officer or administrative personnel that had applied for the warrant. There are sections within most depertments where the officer's only job is to serve warrants. And in most cases those officers have no prior knowledge of the warrant or any investigation. But because the the officer does have a warrant in hand they are assuming the warrant is legal and honestly how would they know whether it is or not with no prior knowledge. And that is not a hit on the officer but a hit against the administration that approved a warrant. In the eyes of almost every LE a warrant makes what they are doing both legal and justified. This isn't to say officers are all bad, because they are not. Just saying the administration that allows this to happen is bad. I am just saying that if an officer is handed a warrant signed by a judge they would follow the judge's order. Now if they were ordered to go door to door to confiscate weapons I do not believe a lot of officers would do that because that is too much too soon. But doing it under the guise of a legally signed warrant they would. As far as the cost I believe the feds would step in with additional funding like they do now for gang related violence and to combat drugs. It would just be used for firearms. But in the end if an officer was handed a warrant to search a residence for firearms they would. Dolomite

I have a solar plan in place if the power goes out long term. But all I am wanting is lighting, that is it. I have no grand illusions about being able to run the appliances off what I have. But what I do have will keep the boogy man away at night, longterm. I can run my 12V LED lighting system for probably a week or two without recharging the batteries. But I can recharge my batteries in a day with the panels I have. So as long as I have at least one day of sunlight a week I will always have light at night. The LED panels I bought are cheap and have a long run time. I ran a test using a single panel and a standard 9v and it ran a long time before I unplugged it. I honestly could not tell whether it had dimmed or not. They have 48 individual LEDs and are bright enough that you can easily read a newspaper from 6-8 feet away in total darkness. I plan on running four in each room which will be as bright as the rooms are now. I plan on isolating my house from the grid. I will remove all the 110v bulbs and install the 12v LED panels in their place. I will flip all the breakers off then plug my battery bank into an outlet, any outlet. Then I will flip the breakers to connect the areas I want light to the battery and engergize that circuit. Then I can use my lightswitches like normal. I also have an inverter that I can use to temporarily run smaller appliances. I have also made sure to buy nothing but rechargeable batteries for things like flashlights. I also have smaller handheld battery chargers that will charge 2 AA batteries in a day. A few friends gave me the panels and a deep cycle battery to go along with the batteries I already had. If I were to buy everything I bet it wouldn't cost $300. And that is a small price to pay to have light when no one else does. When the power goes out long term, as in months, I am not worried about convience like A/C or television. I am going to start looking at long term survival. Dolomite

NOLA PD has no problem breaking the law by confiscating guns or looting. They are a very, very corrupt department and that is becuse they start their officers out at such a ridiculously lower wage. Coming from a LE background I can say that the MAJORITY of officers would seize guns if ordered to do so and given a justification for doing so. Very few officers would risk, at least initially, their job by refusing an order providing they the order was approved by a superior. Even the good officers would go along with it in the begining. That is until the officers start getting hurt or killed then they would start refusing but not out of some moral obligation or the Constitution. They would not take the moral high ground until it was convenient or popular. If it comes down to firearms being outlawed I do not see any group going door to door. That would be too dangerous, to overt and to overwhelming for the public to stand for it. I see them getting a search warrant on a case by case basis and serving them. This would make the officer feel as though we are the ones breaking the law and give them the feeling that they are doing the right thing. This would give them the piece of mind to serve a search warrant and seize weapons. And after a few dozen people, and their families, have been arrested people are going to be begging to turn their guns in to prevent a search warrant being served on them. They will offer a reward to those willing to turn in their neighbors for having a firearm., even if done annonymously. And all of this will be done as low key as possible and incrementally. You will see it on the news, "a man was arrested today for having illegal firearms". And people will think it was great that LE got another criminal, that is until their name comes up on the list of warrants to be issued. Dolomite

Walmart doesn't pricematch Walmart
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
It is one thing to not price match because of a policy. It is totally different to tell me Walmart and Walmart.com are not affiliated at all. Then in the next sentence says Walmart.com will ship to Walmart the store front. Dolomite -
In my recent Walmart trip about the only caliber on the shelf was 380 ACP. I find it odd because in 2008 you couldn't find it to save your life. I seem to recall a box of 380 selling for $50+ back in 2008 and now it is sitting on the shelves. I was also seeing a guy buying up all the steel cased ammo he could, 9mm, 45 ACP and 223. Dolomite
