  1. I have spoke to Feddersen. I was flying out to go overseas and he was in McGhee Tyson waiting on his flight. I don't remember who or why it started but the conversation ended with him talking about his barrels. He gave me his card and I forgot about him until you sent me one of his barrels. Nice enough guy and if I remember correctly he made his money in the bowling industry. Then he figured out a better way to rifle a barrel and started that venture. I do remember him saying his barrel's bores were measured in microns for uniformity. And if you decide to get into a silencer send me a barrel to thread.
  2. The kit includes a reduced power striker spring. I put the factory striker spring back in and the FTFs stopped completely. The difference between the factory trigger return spring and the Apex trigger return spring is negligible so I saw no reason to keep any part of the kit. Even my self defense ammunition was not 100% reliable with the Apex kit. I will take a reliable 15 pound trigger over a unreliable 5 pound trigger.
  3. I installed an Apex kit in mine and it started having FTFs. Went back to factory parts and it has been 100%. I guess you could install just the trigger return spring but it will still feel as heavy.
  4. And because this will likely turn into a Yeager hater/fanboy thread I will say this. Yeager, at least more than any other single person, was responsible for me getting into contracting. I was a fanboy because most of what he said I agreed with. That was before the "incident". And I do not question his response to being shot at, none of us know how we will react under similar circumstances until we find ourselves under similar circumstances. What I do have a problem with is blaming everyone else, including the dead, in his AAR. M I wish him no ill will and I am glad he made lemonade out of lemons.
  5. When we switched to the new software some banned members were no longer banned. I went through to make sure we do not get over run with problems again.
  6. No telling but we shall see. I have plenty of bullets between 85 grains and 270 grains. I recently designed another bullet for subsonic 300 Blackout. It is 270 grains and right now I am getting ready to send examples to some people in the industry to make sure their products are compatible with my bullet. So far the 270 grain bullet is stable in an 8.5 twist and 8 twist barrels at 1,000 fps. It is on the verge of unstable in 10 twist at subsonic velocities but once I push the 270 grain bullet past 1,100 fps they are stable. I think it will be the perfect black powder bullet.
  7. Next time I see some I will buy some black powder, or alternative, and give it a go. I will shoot my 300 Blackout with heavy subsonic bullets to see how long it will shoot before its first malfunction from crud. I bet it will go a lot longer than expected. I will even run it dry as a bone until the first malfunction then run it wet after that to see how long it will go.
  8. That is amazing man. Glad she is excited about it, it will be the younger generation that saves our sport.
  9. A full auto is only good for two things, clearing rooms and suppressive fire. A grenade works better for clearing a room and a belt fed works better for suppressive fire. The average person, even a well versed person, will have difficulty keeping a full auto on target. I will say that some of the locals I worked with overseas had ZERO control over their rates of fire. If they had to fire it would be on full auto and they would keep the trigger pulled until it went dry. Took a lot of work to convince them that aim semi auto fire was better than the typical spray and pray technique they would normally use. Had a few that could hit targets at 350 meters with boring regularity using AKs left over from the Russian invasion. Here is one of my guys shooting at a 350 yard target. And notice the wind, not an easy feat with any gun but especially so with a 20+ year old AK and iron sights. An AR chambered in 300 Blackout WILL run on black powder and cast bullets.
  10. I have already reported your problem to get as many eyes on it as possible.
  11. I actually use WD40 to keep guns running longer than they really should. I always have a can at the range for when a gun starts to malfunction from being full of crud. A few squirts of WD40, a few racks of the bolt/slide and it will keep you from having to clean it until you get home. I had one 22 AR that was never cleaned in at least 10K rounds, and suppressed at that, all I did was shoot it full of WD40 and continue to shoot. My 22/45 had at least 5K of rounds through it between cleanings using WD40 to keep it running. Anyone who has shot with me knows that my stuff stays dirty from use. When I do decide to clean my guns the first thing I do after disassembling is hoes the gun down completely and let it sit. Then I use a brush and some more WD40 to loosen everything up. Then I use high pressure air to blow everything out and then I am done.
  12. I bet he was holstering and something made its way into the trigger guard, perhaps even his finger.
  13. Get the rubberized cork gasket sheet stock from O'Reilleys auto parts. Then chamfer a 38 brass to sharp edge. Tap base with mallet to cut. Do 3 or 4 and then push out of case using a bamboo skewer stick through primer hole. That is basically what I did and it worked great. Now I just use #4 blanks from Home Depot without any media. The concussion puts them on the ground where you can step on them.
  14. Or you could bring it out and we will square the upper up on my lathe.
  15. Reagan tried to do a similar assault weapons ban like Clinton did but he could not get it. Reagan was a great president but was a horrible gun advocate. He openly wanted to do away with "assault weapons" but the true Republicans kept that from happening. But the 1986 MG ban, which Reagan signed, opened the door for the AW ban by Clinton. And 99% of the California gun restrictions are from when Reagan was governor. And because of that most of the gun restrictions on a national level are based on California's restrictions. Because of that I consider Reagan no friend of gun owners. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulford_Act http://theweek.com/articles/582926/how-ronald-reagan-learned-love-gun-control BTW, the NRA supported a lot of the gun restrictions Reagan passed in California.
  16. I would hose it down with WD40 and let it set for a few minutes. Then use high pressure air to blow it out. Repeat a few times and I bet it will start working again.
  17. Thanks guys, the more I think about it these are probably too small for what I want it for.
  18. We are looking for a smaller tractor we can use for general stuff around the property. Right now we are needing something to drag a yard box to finish some work we just had done. We will also be using it to dig holes for fence posts before the end of the year. The two I am looking at are a Ford 1100 and a Yanmar 1401. Both are similar in specs and pricing but not sure which would be better. The Yanmar has a bucket loader but nothing else and the Ford has a bush hog, grader blade and a finish mower. Both have a PTO and rear lift. The Ford has the ability to accept a front loader as well as a rear bucket. The Ford is a 13hp diesel and the Yanmar is a 18hp diesel. The ford has 287 hours and the Yanmar has 154 hours. Anyone have anything to say, good or bad, about either I would like to hear it.
  19. If your die set doesn't have extra seaters I can make you one that will fit that bullet EXACTLY. BTW, the ring won't hurt anything.
  20. Next time you come out bring it so I can take a look at it. I have sewn leather for holsters a bunch of times so the sewing would not be an issue. And depending on how you want the eyelets to look I could probably handle that too. Our mutual friend George could probably do it for you as well.   And if all else fails I bet those that work at Tandy Leather would know how to do this or know someone who can do it to your liking. They are located off of Kingston Pike not too far from Hooters.
  21.   No, you are thinking about how the water bottle is cleaned.
  22. The self filling water bottle and the Squeeze filter address two totally different problems. The squeeze filter is great when you have access to water but is useless when water cannot be found. Finding water in Tennessee is not that hard but if I found myself in a desert I would rather have something that makes water over something that just filters water.
  23. Easy enough. Like I said I will build the barrel in any configuration you want. And if you want I will square up the upper receiver.
  24. Even though covering overtime might seem like small potatoes that number could be huge. So having the Feds pay some of the jurisdiction's overtime bill would be a HUGE incentive to work with the ATF. I would also venture to guess that the department would also be given other perks for helping the ATF. The way things should be is the Feds stay out of state business unless the state requests their help. And even then the Feds involvement should be very, very small.
