The guy that walked out did so not because of fear but because he tried to control someone and was told he couldn't. Just as the mayor said the same person tried previously to tell the same gentleman he couldn't wear a hat. And because the guy wasn't able to control people he threw a fit by walking out. Dolomite

+1 As much as people love to make it seem like it happens, there is no agency that randomly picks addresses out of a hat to execute a search warrant. They must have probably cause, able to articulate that to a judge and then get the judge's permission to execute it. The judge is putting himself on the line for signing off on a bogus warrant and the agency itself is putting itself on the line when they allow an officer to make up a bogus warrant. And most jurisdictions must be able to, and often do, trust their officers that are securing search warrants. If you have a single questionable officer it can impact a lot of current and previous cases so they choose those officer's wisely. I know questionable search warrants do get issued from time to time but they do not randomly pick out residences. There must have been something to raise someone's eyebrows in the first place.. I might have to buy one to try out. The barrel nuts makes for easy barrel swaps. And if it uses the same footprint as the standard 700 this will be pretty popular.
-
Over the years I have heard dozens of Remington owners bad mouth Savage's barrel nut system. Well seems like Remington has now embraced the barrel nut. They released the 783 that looks very close to a typical Savage Axis/Edge in design. It looks as though the extractor on the 783 also looks like a typical Savage extractor. Anyways, just thought you guys would like to know big green has embraced the barrel nut. Dolomite

Lee powder disk question regarding IMR 8208
Dolomite_supafly replied to orientalexpress's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
No need to unscrew or unhook the spring. Move the disk forward until the arm lets it go then you can just slide the disk out the back. I figured that out on accident. Make sure to turn your powder off and cycle it a few times first. You really need a scale to measure the powder charges. If your loads are already locking back on an empty there is no need to go hotter as long as the load is accurate. My most accurate load is the minimum charge or minimum plus .2 grains. Dolomite -
I use my Iphone about 1/2 the time and it is more reliable than my house connection. And my house connection is dead nuts reliable. I can remember the last time I seen errors. It was slow a month or so ago but other than that no problems. Dolomite

I WILL make it. Even if I am having issues I will force myself out there. A 1/4 pound charge of David's tannerite bent my AR500 target and not in a small way. Bent the head at a 90 degree angle. I gave a few pounds to a neighbor who lives 1/4 mile away and he rattled our windows with a single charge. I can pick up a pack of hamburgers and buns from Sam's. Or maybe a platter from somewhere. Whatever people feel like. If there is anything, gun wide, anyone wants to see in person let me know. I plan on bringing out a few 22's for my suppressor, my lightweight AR, my 300 Blackout and probably my Saiga bullpup. Dolomite -

And if I don't like it I can sell the stock and convert the gun to a pistol grip configuration. They do say that the stock improves the stock trigger, probably though geometry of linkages. -
I deciphered the link: http://louisvillefirearms.com/ar-15-parts.html That is an awful price. And I add another to my list of dealers who will never see a dime. Dolomite

My father has been known to drive an extra hour to save .10 a pound on a 3 pound pack of meat. I never understood why but I think some people get a high of being able to say they bought something for so cheap. I know my local Walmart gets ammo in every week day. And every time they get it in they sell it within an hour or two. According to the sales person the same person buys it almost every day. Dolomite

Funny how he has been investigated for ethics violations. He also single handedly changed the law in 1986 to prevent the sale of new machine guns. He called a voice vote and declared it passed even though by all accounts it did not. Dolomite -

Look what I just ordered. It has arrived!
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Long Guns
I think the reason why they are not back ordered is everyone converted their Saiga already if they don't want a stock one. Seems some people want to keep their Saiga stock. These have only been out for about a year or so now but years in the making. Dolomite -
Should be here within a week then the real wait begins. I struck a deal to trade my 100% reliable and converted Saiga for a stock Saiga plus the funds to buy this stock. I am waiting until we get a chance to meet. He is 3 hours away and we are meeting in the middle. These stocks are the only reason I bought my Saiga in the first place. It has taken the maker a few years of developement before being released. Once I get my hands on the unmodified Saiga I will give it the "treatment". I will get the barrel chopped to 15" and a flash hider permanently welded on to bring it to 18". I will probably have the barrel threaded internally for standard chokes as well. I will polish the bolt to make loading with the bolt forward easier as well as aid reliability. I will install a 1911 spring for reliability. I will make a puck of my own design that also helps reliability. I will likely drill out the gas ports as well for reliability with low brass ammo. And I will go through the trigger to clean it up as well. I haven't decided on what I will be using for sights. I might get and ultimak and use a red dot. Or maybe work out a way to use irons. I can't wait. Dolomite

I would give them a call at 865 521 0625 and talk to them. They WILL answer and they are a great bunch of people to talk to. They have a list of people waiting on builds. It is like everything else going on right now, the parts are hard to come by. I don't want to quote them but you are probably looking at a wait. I was there today and they are waiting on parts to fill individual as well as bulk orders. Dolomite -

Likely SWAT officer as they are allowed to carry whatever they want. Or at least that was the way it was with KCSO. I can't imagine KPD being much different with regards to their SWAT officers. The evals were done 6+ months ago. The decision is more political and about money to be made in the deal if I remember correctly. Dolomite -
Make sure to seperate the zinc from the lead. Basically use a pait of gardin shears and cut the wheel weights. If ou can cut it the weight is lead if not it is either zinc or steel. You will be able to tell the difference easily between zinc and steel. After that get a pot to melt it and a mold. Start pouring. It is very easy to do but there are little tricks. Here is a great thread by Caster: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/48253-getting-started-casting/ You can aslo go hang out on cast boolits and learn a lot. Dolomite

Sub-Guns Barrett 82A1 talk about price Gouging
Dolomite_supafly replied to Johnny Rotten's topic in Long Guns
I don't think they will try to ban ammunition but they will make it so expensive that people won't want to buy it. David, DLM37015, has had a lot of extra regulations added to his business by this administration. That as well as new rules saying surplus ammunition and components can no longer be sold to the public. Those things did happen in the last 4-6 months. This adds costs to him, and other dealers, and eventually our costs are going to have to go up in order for the dealers to stay in business. I can see the next step be taxing ammunition or components as a "sin" tax or try to justify the additional tax as a means to pay for all those injuries and killings to those "poor inner city youth" that are at the top of those being killed by ammunition. Kind of like they did to cigarettes back when they were newest "evil". Imagine buying a box of ammunition and seeing some sort of grotesque gunshot wound on the side like they do or did for cigarettes. Or a warning label stating "The contents of this box can kill or maim or be used in a suicide". The cost of adding those warning labels would increase the cost of ammunition. It is well within the President's right to use EO to ban the importation of ammunition. Not that big of a deal to the AR guys but for the AK guys things are about to get really expensive. We are up against a tough political machine right now and we cannot let our guard down. Even when it seems like our guns are not the center of attention we cannot relax because those who want to take them away never are relaxed. Dolomite -
AR-15 quad rail install question
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
With the free floats you can use whatever length you want. If you want, before you buy next time PM me with what you plan and I will help you. Learning is all part of the AR game and I have wasted hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on stuff that either didn't work or that I didn't like. Dolomite -
Confused about powder grains
Dolomite_supafly replied to charlessummers's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Leading is more than just velocity. I push cast bullets a lot faster than most pistols and have no leading problems. The majority of leading problems is caused by one of two things. Either the bullet is too hard to obturate or the bullet is too small allowing gas to cut past the lead bullet. Most commercial cast bullet makers do both. A cast bullet NEEDS to be at least .001" but ideally .002" above the bore diameter to stop the leading. And the bullet needs to be reasonably soft to properly squish and seal to the bore. A lead bullet can be .003" or even .004" over the bore diameter and it will just get squished down. And with lead you do not get the same pressures as with jacketed. I have shot bullets that were .00485" over the bore diameter and had zero problems. There is nothing to gain by using a bore sized cast bullet but a lot to gain by using one that is oversized. If a person is getting leading at the chamber end of the barrel it is caused by a bullet that is either too hard or too small or both. If you are getting leading at the muzzle end of the barrel it is from being too fast but honestly I rarely see that in pistol calibers. Proper lube can mitigate leading at the muzzle end but no amount of lube will fix leading at the chamber from a bullet that is too hard or too small. For my 45 ACP I try to make sure the cast bullets are .452". For my 300 Blackout, which has a .308" bore I run a .310" cast bullet. For my 9mm, which has a .355" bore, I use a .358" cast bullet. People do strange things under stress and a Glock is about as simple as it gets to operate under stress. Dolomite -
Thanks Macgyver. I can honestly say I have at least a full cow hide in screwed up holsters. I wish I had taken pictures of all of them so you could see the progression because my first ones were hideous and locked away or destroyed so no one could see them. But honestly it is not that difficult if you put your mind to it. I think the biggest obstacle for most people is not that they don't have the ability but that they have a fear of failure. I embrace failure because I know every time I make a mistake it will be a mistake I will hopefully not make it again. And no matter the skill it doesn't come without a cost be it time, money or effort. And we all have skills we can pass on to fellow members. We have a lot of skilled people on this forum. I know I have personally learned a lot from being here. Knowledge is power but only if you share it. I don't make holsters for profit and never have. I make them for friends and it is a skill I actually enjoy. It allows me to forget about life while I make them. I am unable to do them as often as I like but I like it when I can. And if anyone has any questions feel free to ask. That is a Cliff's notes version. Dolomite
