We do this in hopes of those who do not like us will. And when we can no longer give them what they want then they really don't like us. There is no good reason to give those who do not like us anything other than the finger. Dolomite

Reloading supplies in the Knoxville area?
Dolomite_supafly replied to timcar86's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Tell you what I think I have a sleeve of large rifle primers, as in 100. You are more than welcome to them. Just need to figure out a place to meet. Dolomite -
Cleaning is a must if the brass is on the ground. All it takes is a single piece of sand to ruin a set of dies. And as far as cleaning you can get away with letting it soak in Lemishine overnight or even just soapy water or even just plain water. You just want to make sure to remove any debris from the cases. Longevity of brass depends on the caliber, pressures and sizing procedures. The "all-in-one" dies that size the case as well as the nouth at th esame time, like Lee RGB dies, will work harden the necks in no time. If you seperate the steps by using a body die and a neck die you can double or triple the brass life. Straigt walled cases, like 38 Special or 9mm or 45 ACP, will last a very long time. As a matter of fact I loose them before I start seeing problems. Most problems from straight walled cases are from having a case mouth belled too much. I have a bell you cannot see and just barely feel. You want just enough to seat the bullet without shaving it. Personally I tumble my brass to first clean them. Then after sizing I tumble again to remove the lube. For my media I use Kaytee Lizard LItter Desert Blend and add car polish, either Turtle Was or NuFinish. I let them run for an hour or two. One thing you need to make sure is not to use too much media when tumbling. The cases rubbing up against each other also has a very good cleaning action. If you use too much media it will take longer to clean the brass. You want just rnough media that the brass rolls over in the media and not just sit there vibrating.

Boxer Wants to Control Carry Permits

LOL, that is the funniest thing I have read in a long time. Dolomite -
The first thing that should happen is all those kids removed from the custody of the mother. They are obviously not learning how to act right in their mother's care. Second, the mother should be charged with dilenquency of a minor as well as endangerment for putting those children in that situation. And finally she should be permanently "fixed" so she cannot have another child in her life. As much as most people hate to hear it, in instances like this a mother should never be allowed to have or be around her children again. Do a raid in the middle of the night and snatch her kids up. She should have her ability to have any more children removed as well. And if someone lost a child to state custody they should be required to take birth control or have their tubes tied until they can prove they are responsible adults. And if they manage to get pregnant the kid gets taken as soon as it takes its first breath. We guard against puppy mills but some women act like they are a people mill. We need to figure out an incentive to keep mothers, like the one in the video, from having more children. Heck it might be cheaper to pay would be mothers, who are at high risk for becoming pregnant, to NOT have kids. The whole system is so screwed up now that there is no easy fix. And it will be the kids that suffer the brunt of any reforms, not the parents. Good for the manager for having a camera. And I hope he tazes every single person who acts like that. Maybe after a person gets tazed a few times they will being to think twice about acting like an animal. And that is all people tht act like that are, animals. The more I think about those kids the more infuriated I get. That POS mother has destined her children to a life of misery. She should be punished severly and not just time in a prison cell. Dolomite

question about reloading .223
Dolomite_supafly replied to rcrespo106's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I trim to 1.745-1.750 and that gives me 2-3 firings before it needs it again. I used to trim to just under 1.760 then I found myself trimming after every firing. Nothing bad can happen from brass that is too short as long as it holds the bullet but too long of brass can cause pressures. I have even messed up and trimmed at 1.740 and had no issues. If I find one piece that is over I do the entire lot. Dolomite -
If it was going to go to pieces it would have when you fired it the first time. 99.9% of the kabooms with an AR are related to improper hand loads. There is nothing short of a improper hand load, improper ammunition or a barrel obstruction that will cause a catostrophic failure. If the barrel is loose it will still fire but accuracy will suck. If the headspace is so loose it is dangerous the gun just won't fire. If it does fire it will destroy the brass but the bolt will contain the pressures unless it is an improper hand load. It is impossible to assemble the bolt incorrectly to a point it is dangerous, it just won't fire if not assembled correctly. If the gas port is off the gun just won't cycle. Dolomite

If it shoots I would not worry about it. People tend to over complicate things especially when it comes to AR's. Dolomite

I would really like to hear who the moderator who is or was selling lot of firearms on here. Send it to me in a PM if you want. I cannot recall a single moderator selling any amount that would raise anybody's eyebrows. I have sold less than four guns on here in as many years so I know it isn't me. And I have yet to sell a single firearm on here since becoming a moderator. Dolomite

Boy Scouts of America close to changing membership requirements

I suspect the majority of those who do molest boys are not openly gay. All the cases that come to mind were men with families and living a heterosexual lifestyle and not those who live an openly gay lifestyle. Implying gays are perverts is crazy. Outside of the bedroom they are just like any one of us. They have the same goals in life and even aspire to be better people. There is not a single thing you can say about a gay person, outside of the bedroom, that can't be said for any straight person. And who are we to judge someone based on what they do in the privacy of their own home. Public pressure is what drives change. We have all used public pressure to try to secure our gun rights. We use public pressure to elect who best represents us. When we remove the public from the equation then it becomes a dictatorship. As far as gay being a lifestyle I will agree to a point. For me there are varying degrees of being gay. First we have the women who look and act like men. They have a body structure similar to most mean and generally assume the role. These people I genuinely believe there is something in the DNA that makes them like this. There is no amount of societal pressure that is going to change them. Second there are men who dress like women and most want to use surgery to correct what they feel is wrong. They are feminine and have been since they were very, very young. And these too I believe have something in their DNA that is askew. And both of these generally want to live out a normal life without all the drama. And then there is the final one. The "boys" that know they are men, proud to be a man yet love the attention of other men. The are the "hey look at me" types and this group I believe has nothing to do with DNA and has more to do with getting attention or for some sort of self satisfaction. They are the ones we see on television with the flamboyant mannerisms and dress. And it is these ones that are the most outspoken as well. I am not sure I would want them teaching values to impressionable kids but if they are qualified and truly care about the kids I would not have a problem. For the two previous categories I would have ZERO issue with them teaching children as long as they are qualified and care about the kids. Dolomite -

When your body goes into full adrenaline dump all fine motor skills go as well as tunnel vision along with your hearing. You will not hear the gunshot but you will still suffer the temporary ringing when your body gets back to normal. I would never shoot without hearing protection, indoors or out, any more. I used to when I was young and invincible and not I have a constant ringing because of it. Dolomite

Canted low-profile gas block
Dolomite_supafly replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I bought a "new" barrel that had the port at 1 o'clock with the alignment pin at 12 o'clock. It does happen and doesn't affect function as long as the ports are aligned. Cosmetically it would drive me nuts. But as Lumber Jack said it can cause the gas tube to no be aligned properly and this will wear out the end of the gas tube. When that happens the gun will quit cycling. I suspect had you not fixed it the gun would have not cycled. Dolomite -
9mm reloading question

Not sure if you would want to but you might run the gun by a gunsmith and have them check the chamber. I have seen guns with hardly any throat at all. Dolomite -
This has been around for a VERY long time. Predator Custom Shop did a John Deer AR for a customer once. And when he went to sell it John Deer came a calling on Predator for their money for using their logo. Dolomite

AK47 Barrel pin broke:

If it is Arsenal gun I would contact them. Or go to any smith, seems like an easy fix if the pin is the only problem. Dolomite -
I don't hunt anymore but I haven't seen hardly any squirrels this year. A few years back we had them everywhere. My wife spotted a Fox squirrel a few weeks ago. Dolomite
