  1. And before someone points out those are rifle dimensions, I know. There are similar differences between magnum and standard pistol primers. Dolomite
  2. From this website: http://www.accurateshooter.com/technical-articles/primers-and-pressure-analysis/ Dolomite
  3. There are differences between magnum and standard. Not only in the power but also in the cup thickness. Dolomite
  4. I see it as them leaving me the brass. I don't mind picking up other people's brass. The majority of the brass I use came from other people. Dolomite
  5. If there is enough neck tension there is no need to crimp. I took the sizing mandrel and reduced it by .002". This gives me plenty of neck tension without deforming the bullet like crimping can sometimes do. You can also do like Mike suggested and remove the pin altogether. I would just buy a spare decamping pin and break the pin off then size it down by .002". That way you can size them without removing the primer and have plenty of neck tension. I use a collet neck sizing die and a redding body did to size my brass. By seperating the steps the brass lasts a lot longer. Dolomite
  6. I have threatened to use Tannerite to kill nuisance animals before. I couldn't imagine a quicker death than a 1 pound charge 12" above their head. Problem is most of my neighbors would have a serious problem with an explosion in the middle of the night. Heck, I might not even need to bury the body and would fertilize the yard pretty good.   Dolomite
  7. The necks might be a little loose. But if you are careful and crimp the bullets in place you should be find. Other than that they are ready to load. Dolomite
  8. At Walmart vision center they can add ballistic protection to most of their lenses. And it adds very little to the cost. They are Z87.1 protection. They can also correct for vision problems as well. Dolomite
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2umEFHeo6mw   This is a real product and it is fun too.   Dolomite
  10. I had honestly never heard of them before you posted. The pictures looked like typical cast but I had to look it up to make sure.   Dolomite
  11. And the reason it needs the extra material is because that lower is cast, not forged. A cast lower tends to be weaker than a forged lower. Not sure what "MAG alloy" is but that is the material used to cast the lower. Dolomite
  12. The lower's ears are not in spec. They are larger than a standard lower. I have a free float tube that uses the same setup and mine is fine. If you compare the ears to another lower the problem will be obvious. Not sure you will be able to clearance enough to pivot like normal. You might get it just enough to get the BCG out. Dolomite
  13. I haven't hunted in a long time but I generally stood still and listened. They will make noise and when you hear it slowly walk in. If they quit making the noise and hide just take a seat and they will come back out in 10-15 minutes. Something else that happens is if you shoot one and it drops to the ground and flops some the other dquirrels will come and investigate. It also helps to know where the nut trees are because they will congregate there. If they aren't there then they are either travelling to or from a nut tree.   If you manage to get a squirrel that is on one side and you are on the other but it keeps running around to the opposite brag a limb off the ground and toss it past the tree. When it hits the ground the squirrel will see or hear the movement and run around to your side. Doesn't always work but it works enough to make it worth tossing that stick.   If you have a squirrel moving and it is hard to get a shot whistle like a hawk they the squirrel will generally freeze in its tracks.   Dolomite
  14. We have had some clusters of red tailed hawks as of late. They are mating right now and there is a single male that seems to be fending of about a 1/2 dozen or so would be suiters.   Dolomite
  15.   Yeah, you can use small rifle magnum in 223/5.56. There are some small rifle primers that you cannot use for 5.56 like Remington 6.5's. But other than that most small rifle magnum should work with 5.56. I use or have used CCI 400, CCI 41, Remington 7.5, Wolf SRM and Tula SRM for 223 without any issues.   I also use small rifle magnum primer for my 9mm loads and my samll primer 45 ACP loads. As long as you work up accordingly you will not have any problems.   Dolomite
  16. I hope the ladies and the man that were shot at because of mistaken identity sue LAPD. Hope it shakes them to their core and there is a change in training. It does say a lot when there are two seperate incidents where officers opened fire without verifying their target.   Dolomite
  17. In the photo is looks like the shots were through the back of the women's pickup. And based on where and the shear numbers those women are VERY lucky to be alive.   Dolomite
  18. What they are going to go after next is the ammunition. California has been the petri dish for all the legislation the country has seen for the last 20 years. From emissions testing, to hunting regulations, to drug laws and also firearms. California recently introduced something to outlaw HP bullets and "assault bullets" as well as a few other nonsense items. But it is those nonsense items that will be made laws on a national level if they are "successful" in California. And for them anythign that limits our rights is a success.   Dolomite
  19. I am a mod and don't have that box.   Dolomite
  20. If you click on the bullet to the left of the thread title it will take you to the newest post.   Dolomite
  21. I think he is asking for a fair price to offer someone, not a fair offer for his own gun.   With that I have seen use 1100's in 20 gauge at shows for $400-$450. They were in great shape as well.   Dolomite
  22. I prefer my AR over my bolt guns. My 300 BO has an off position so it will be as quiet as an AR when I get my suppressor built. Dolomite
  23. Looks Belgian or French.   Any markings?   Dolomite
  24. LOL, yeah maybe with all the "preppers" as of late.   Dolomite
  25. So my wife and I decided to do a little metal detecting. We were in an area that probably hasn't had a lot of people shooting in it for a very long time. During out adventures I got a blip about something small about 6" down. As she dug she found an unfired 22 that was at least 4" in the soil. It was pretty well packed soil so the round had been buried for quite some time. It was on the side of a hill that I frequented as a kid, some 35 years ago. Not saying the round was 35 years old but it was under 4+ inches of soil so it wasn't placed there yesterday. Here is the picture as found: I was able to determine it was a Federal. I have no clue why the tip was like that though. The lead did have white corrosion. So the next thing that pops into my head is I wonder if it will fire? I grab my Taurus PT22 because I could care less if the bore gets scratched. I chamber it, which was hard becuse of the dirt and corrosion, and I pull the trigger. BANG!!! Although it didn't extract it did in fact go off which I do find this pretty amazing. Dolomite
