Drying in an oven is never a good thing, dries WAY too fast. I have tried it in the past and I tried it again last night on another holster I am making. Well I screwed up another piece of leather. Also, leather is CHEAP so cut your pieces way bigger than you need. It is way easier to remove material than it is to reattach it. I learned that lesson after I made a $30 piece of leather into unusable pile of scraps. I keep thinking I could cut the pieces a little bigger each time but in the end I couldn't use a single piece. I use a food vacuum sealer to mold the leather to the item. It is quick, easy and give a lot of detail without boning. Another tip is to wash your leather before you use it. I use really hot water and Dawn. You just want to use tap water. If you try to use boiling water it will cook the leather and ruin it. After it dries it is a stiff as a Kydex holster. If you want help give me a call.

Funny story that is kind of related. We had a couple of members that would constantly argue with each other. It seemed like they would highjack almost every post with their drivel. Well the arguing got so serious that one decided to take matters into his own hands. Now before this we not only had a "Like" button but we also had a "Dislike" button. Well that one member searched for posts by his internet foe and clicked "dislike" on every post. And seemingly overnight a member with thousands of positive reputation points was in the negative. And that is when the "Dislike" button was removed from TGO. BTW, as far as I know the one who decided to do that was deep into adulthood.

Red dot / illuminated reticle suggestions?
Dolomite_supafly replied to A.J. Holst's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Just a tidbit of information on how to improve red dots. If they take a 2032 battery and have a intensity knob, not a intensity button, you can swap out the single 2032 battery for two 2016 batteries. It makes the dot a lot more brighter. The 2016 batteries are identical in size to the 2032 except they are 1/2 the thickness so you can double them up. Makes sights that are barely useable in bright sunlight useable. -
The Knoxville fair is in the bad part of town and less than a mile from the really bad parts of town. No way I would be caught after dark anywhere along Magnolia without a gun. When they tell people not to bring firearms the criminals are listening. It is an indicator when LE run stings the entire week of the fair to minimize the exposure of the patrons to the criminal element that is normally operating in the area.

This is how I buy of sell guns. Ask for or show my HCP or TN DL. Exchange cash for gun and walk away. If they do not have a HCP I ask if they are a prohibited person. If it is a complete stranger and not from TGO I do a few more things. I write their number on my hand, I also write their plate number on my hand and I generally audio record the transaction. No way I would ever give someone all that information. You are right, there are bad people out there but with their copy of the BoS they can do even more damage. I cannot think of a valid reason for that information. LE will already have all of that by the time they come knocking on your door. I would think becoming a victim of identity theft is a more realistic threat than getting in trouble because some jackwagon decides to break the law using a gun you sold to them.

+1,000 Act as though you were the only person to escape California before it fell into the ocean. Realize we have been doing this gun freedom thing for a VERY long time and we don't need anyone to tell us what is safe, legal or what should be outlawed. Sit back, spend a few weeks reading and learning how Tennessee operates. You ou are more than welcome but whatever you do don't try to change anything about this great state.

I don't own any revolvers and have less than five my entire life. Just not a revolver guy unless it has a specific purpose. I won't buy a revolver to carry. Because of that I have nothing to contribute. I will say there are published 9mm load data for a 147 grain bullet at 1,200 fps. That is not a +p load so there is some room for more velocity in a gun designed for higher pressures.

(Re) Holstering IWB Holster

Something else we used to do is video tape our training sessions. In our minds we are a tactical God who does everything perfect but once you see yourself it makes you rethink that. -

You don't have to have a loaded gun to practice drawing and firing. -
Pretty sure Tyler also made trigger shoes that set screw into the existing trigger to make the trigger feel lighter. I have quite a few of them in a junk box.

If I need more grip I use an innertube from a bicycle. Depending how you cut it out they have some lines molded in that help it stay in your hands. And it doesn't permanently alter the pistol. Something else I have seen people do is wrap the gun's grip in plastic wrap. Then take a small amount of automotive body filler and put it on the front of the grip on top of the plastic on the front of the grip. Then grip the gun and slowly squish the body filler with your fingers until it feels comfortable to you. Let it harden then smooth it with sandpaper. And finally removed the plastic and use the innertube to hold the body filler in place. That gives you a grip molded to your hands. And if you screw up it is easy to redo. You could probably do a few dozen pistols from a single tube.

Sight solution for Long and short range
Dolomite_supafly replied to ReeferMac's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
It is out of stock right now but this scope really is a great scope. http://palmettostatearmory.com/bushnell-ar-optics-1-4x-24mm-throw-down-pcl-ar91424i.html It is FFP so the reticle grows with the target/image. It has MIL adjustments which I like because they are courser than most MOA scopes. This means adjustments can be made quicker and there tends to be more total adjustment than most scopes. It has illumination on the reticle as well. When they are on sale at PSA they are $150 which is a great price for a scope like this. -

Not too often someone tells you their secret plans ahead of time but that seems to be the case here. -
You should have called the cops because that likely would have stopped these types of acts. What exactly would you have done if he would have said FU and drove off before you had a chance to say a word? He has ZERO obligation to acknowledge what you are saying or that you even exist. He doesn't have to do a single thing for you. There are a lot of people sitting in prison right now because they started out wanting to give someone their piece of mind. Had you tracked this guy down and an altercation occurred where someone died YOU would be arrested and probably be convicted of a crime. You had the opportunity to "escape" but YOU, not him, chose to escalate the situation by pursuing him. And regardless of what happened previously when you made a conscience decision to chase this guy down you, and ONLY you, can be to blame for anything that happened after the initial incident. You became the aggressor when you escalated the situation rather than try to escape. I'm just saying that if you are going to be that upset then call the cops and let them deal with it rather than risk your own life or freedom. To be honest, tracking down a guy who just pointed a gun at you isn't exactly the smartest response. You have a guy who you, at a bare minimum, believe has a firearm and your response is to track him down and detain him so you can give him a piece of your mind. I would like to hear how you got him to stop so you could give him a piece of your mind? I know if I had someone, who looked agitated, trying to make me stop my car I wouldn't. I would keep driving like normal and maybe wave at the person. And if I was on my property and the same agitated person came on my property they would have a gun shoved in their face in nanoseconds. And if they still continued to come towards me that only proves their intent to do me harm and I would stop the threat.

Statistically speaking a person would be struck by lightening 81 times before being killed by LE and that includes justified shoots. I imagine the statistics of being both black AND wrongfully killed by LE is astronomical. The second a family member reports "My son, brother, father... didn't do nothing" I know that they WERE doing something and that what they were doing is probably the reason why they died, not because the officer suddenly became a bad officer. I spent a lot of my adulthood in LE and there are bad cops out there. But there are far more bad guys than bad cops and every now and again one of those bad guys meets a good cop and justice is done. I feel sorry for the officer who has to live with the fact he has killed a person. I refuse to have ANY remorse for any person who happens to die while committing criminal acts. And I do have one good piece of advice to those who don't want to die at the hands of police. Don't engage in criminal activity and you won't come into contact with LE but if you do come into contact with LE while committing those crimes COMPLY. The life you save could be your own but if you don't want to then you have no one to blame but yourself.

No matter how you set it up you cannot get the reimbursement in your bill unless they have the funding and they have not had it for about 8 years. And to get it you must have a meter to measure the energy YOUR solar setup produces. If KUB catches you trying to put your solar after your meter so you use your power first KUB will have a BIG problem with it. I asked and was told I would be in big trouble if I tried to use the solar I produced without it hitting the public grid first. I was told that by three separate KUB representatives including a supervisor. I was told the exact same thing by the solar installer. I can give you all the contact info to verify. KUB and TVA are the only power utility in the country that does it this way and that won't change for another ~15 years when the current contract is renegotiated. You cannot, as a KUB customer, have solar power go to your house without the you produce energy going on the public grid first.

What caliber and what gun? VihtaVouri has a published load that pushes a 147 grain to over 1,200 fps and is not considered +P either. I have loaded and shot a lot of these out of a Glock and never noticed a smiley so there is definitely room for more velocity, depending on the gun. I have loaded 300 grain JSP's in my 45 ACP as well.

Domestic violence or just plane old family disturbances were the absolute scariest calls. Hate to hear it and I hope the person responsible is tormented every day for the rest of their life. -
And if it is used in an "offensive" manner towards another it magically becomes a DD, even if only flares are used. Don't get caught with sub-caliber devices capable of firing lethal projectiles, that makes it an AOW. Flares are just not worth it, I prefer tracers.

Need Opinions - Affect on weapons by Dry Firing (trigger pull practice)
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in Handguns
Go buy some known quality US made ammunition and try again. Steel cases ammunition is bottom of the barrel as far as quality goes. Something else you may not realize is the bullets are actually made of steel and then copper washed. Steel bullets DO cause premature wear and if you shoot a lot it will eventually damage your barrel. How fast the damage occurs depends on how much you shoot as well as the quality of the firearm. I only shoot steel cased in guns designed to shoot steel case, like AKs, or guns with easily replaced barrels like ARs. -

Burris used to offer a 55% discount to LE and MIL. Haven't bought directly from them in years so no clue if they still do it.
