  1.   I do melt the lead down and make a lead slug. I also make wax/shot slugs as well as pure wax slugs.   Dolomite
  2. Yes but make sure the shot and wax are below the hull. I have probably made 300 of these in the last year or so. I have even made pure wax slugs. They have no recoil and act like slugs. I would never use them for defense but for other stuff it is useful. It puts a clean hole in one side of a cardboard box and a much larger hole in the other side. Dolomite
  3. I guess my Saiga is now legal there. It has 10 round magazines that are less than 12". 28" of 12 gauge shells, LOL.   It is obvious those who wrote the law have no clue about firearms.   Dolomite
  4. Why rebuild when you can buy new? http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=48   But if you must rebuild it you probably need a tub of this: http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9&products_id=23   Or if you just want to do away with that problematic muffler bearing you need this: http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11&products_id=41   Dolomite
  5. Towards the end of my time in I worked in a school house because of injuries. And watching some of those people get the awards they got was disgusting. I can't even count the times the Legion of Merit was awarded to NCO's that did nothing more than spend 20 years in. And the majority of them never seen a day of combat or even deployed.   Same thing with officers, they would get awards for doing their job. And some of our officer students would get awards for completing OBC.   The awards system got that way because of how the NCOER's always got fluffed up. I think the normal progession went from embellishing on NCOER's to lying on award requests. I have seen NCOER's on people who had article 15's or were POS's that read like they were Audie Murphy. And I was told that a good supervisor fluffs their subordinates NCOER's. Did I do it? Yes I did because I wanted my soldiers on the same playing field as every other solder out there. If I didn't they would look like a POS when they weren't.   Dolomite
  6. Here it is http://youtu.be/aaS_2l8nGdg
  7. I will try to find the video. There is a guy being shot with a 308 at point blank to prove the armor works. He does not get thrown back like one would think with the amount of FPE a 308 has. I do not believe FPE and kinetic energy are the same. Dolomite
  8. If a gun weighs 8 pounds and firing the bullet moves the gun say 1 inch under free recoil. That same bullet fired into a target that weighs 160 pounds will move that target 1/20th of the rifle. The amount of KINETIC energy is exactly the same. If the 30 pound Barrett recoils 6" as it fires into a 3000 pound vehicle the vehicle will move 1/100th of 6". These are all assuming there was equal amounts of resistance. To move the vehicle 6" it would require 100 shots. Dolomite
  9. Probably because the corner of the plate dug in or something. I worked with a person who took a x39 round center mass in the back and never knew he had been hit. Only later did they notice the hole.   Dolomite
  10. Actually the bullet hitting the person is no harder than the recoil of the gun shooting it.   Dolomite
  11. I cut the tops off of the cheap birdshot shells. Melt the shot into slugs then drop the slugs back in where the birdshot was. Makes for cheap slugs that don't pound my shoulder. They are also reasonably accurate  especially for .25 each.   Dolomite
  12. This is not me although i have tested a lot of floor tiles.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXmyCfB_k5I   For what it cost him it works very, very well.   Dolomite
  13. I have made a lot of their wax slugs. Never done the cut shell but I will try it next time I have a shotgun out.   Dolomite
  14. That is absolutely retarded and lessens the sacrifices of real heroes. I might give the guy a break if he wrote it while in the hills of Afghanistan while taking fire. But then again if he was in the hills of Afghanistan taking fire he wouldn't be concerned with treating the Koran with sensitivity. He would be trying to kill those who have wounded or killed his fellow soldiers.   Dolomite
  15.   Me neither, he hasn't been convicted of anything yet so I would half expect his command to keep him on a promotion schedule until convicted then sentence to a life of perpetual private.   Dolomite
  16.   Can't beat that price either.   Dolomite
  17. Yes but I probably have less in my Metro Arms than your Glock :)   Dolomite
  18. 865 521 0625   They will be there tomorrow but the smith will not be.   Dolomite
  19. My 1911 has yet to have a malfunction in 3500+ rounds but it has been gone through from top to bottom.   Dolomite
  20. Is the gun new? 1911's generally need a new recoil spring every 1K rounds. Also, make sure to grease the rails and lugs. Do not use oil.   I would check a few things. First, make sure the comp isn't dragging on the barrel. Might want to remove it to troubleshoot. Next I would check the extractor. It looks like it is hanging up as the rim tries to slide under it. Remove the slide and make sure the rim of a loaded round will easily slide up under the extractor. It should have a chamfer to it and if it is square it could be causing the problems.   If you are going to do a fluff and buff on the ramp I would also do the breechface. Take a very fine ceramic stone and polish the middle 1/2 of the breechface. I would not do any fluff and buff until I have eliminated all other causes.   Here is good illustration of what a extractor should look like: http://www.m1911.org/images/extractor.gif Image from here: http://www.m1911.org/technic2.htm   Dolomite
  21. You can't find the old version anymore and the new XR sucks. The weak link in the old one was the handle, which broke, but the XR handle works with the old one. I still use the old version or a press mounted one for my precision loads. With the press mounted one I can adjust the seating depth so that they are all the same height. Dolomite
  22. Predator Custom Shop has done a lot for me and all have been perfect. Dolomite
  23. I loved my Kimber conversion. It was a great shooter. I have several Ruger 22/45's and would still prefer the feel and heft of a 1911 conversion. Dolomite
  24. They only work against muslims.   Dolomite
  25. I would not approach them with an exposed weapon. Too easy for things to escalate or for them to say you pointed at them. Even on your own property it is aggravated assault if you point a firearm at them unless you have justification and someone sitting at the end of your drive isn't.
